You can count the effective builds on one hand. With the change there should be far more effective builds due to better balance.

I would rather have more powerful and meaningful traits and a better balanced game than what we have now and its what Anet seems to be doing.

You don’t understand how meta builds become meta builds. It isn’t that they are the best. It is that a top player uses it and does well. Most players in the game are followers.

the point is that is doesn’t matter if there are 5 balanced specs for each class. You’ll still see 80% of people playing one of them.

As to the OP’s point, I agree that this will remove build diversity. I like the current system better. If I want two adept tier traits, that should be fine.

why is everyone complaigning anyway…warri zerker specced is atm hands down the clumsiest and bad spec overall in any pvp mode…gets rekt by meta and non meta builds alike…it’s getting viable again…get over it…ps read the baseline ranger buffs….no need to bash on war already before HoT release…know new elite specs skills and option already…ow no we don’t…good chance some elite specs will trample zerker warri anyhow. also zerker stance becomes a boon…aka couterplay..just wait what happens and stop the crying…cause tbh…zerker warri needs buffs buffs and then some more buffs in it’s current state but nothing is gonna change anyway before HoT and we know not even half of what HoT will bring so……uselesssssssssss

Fast Hands can be baseline if they make every on swap effect a Warrior can access have a 20+ icd. That includes sigils. Otherwise I’m against it.

Warrior Sprint baseline would be silly.

As for Cleansing Ire, I’ve seen suggestions to split the effect and make just the “Adrenaline on getting hit” baseline. And I think that would be a good change. The condi cleanse however should not under any circumstances ever come for free.

Warrior is my most played alt class and if anything the class needs to have its support shaved. Mainly an increase to Warbanner cast to make it 3s, cooldown set to 180 seconds and it’s radius reduced to 180 to bring it in line with other Revive skills. As well as having have shouts changed to get increased cooldowns with stronger effects. Physical skills need to be buffed though.

I do get your point and if I looked at it objectively, I don’t think Warrior sprint should be baseline, I would consider Fast Hands and I think Cleansing Ire should be a minor. However, if I look at mesmers and what traits they’re getting as a baseline, I think all other classes should be getting way more traits as baseline, too.

If a warrior isn’t running Shoutbow nowadays (s)he doesn’t stand a chance. The way that I’ve built my ele… I don’t have to kite to win against them (unless they do a knockdown chain build). The whole class needs to be retooled, a few buffs aren’t going to help.

Cleansing Ire should be a minor. The other two major traits in the same line cannot compete against Cleansing Ire because CI is necessary for warriors to be viable. With CI being a minor, the master major traits will be equally good and warriors have some choice over what they want in the defense line. I can then actually see a choice in picking between Last Stand, Cull the weak, and Spiked armor. I can’t see CI being baseline, but as a minor trait would do it.

FH should be baseline. It’d make warrior feel a little bit more distinct and then they could balance EVERY warrior trait and skill around the warrior having it. Discipline won’t be a require traitline anymore. Instead of Defense/Disc/x, it’ll just be Defense/x/x. Which will open up more diversity choice for warriors.

Warrior sprint shouldn’t be baseline.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant

But everyone is getting buffs in HoT. Why are people still worked up about Warrior’s certain stuff being baseline? Are people THAT BAD? lmao. Fast Hands being baseline won’t compare to Chronomancer Reset or Guardian getting more skills that eat through dodge in that patch, mind you.

This Aomine kid seems like one of those people who still get hit by random Moa’s tbh. Probably thinks Warrior is OP because he can’t dodge long casting times.

God no, this reduces build diversity totally… its already a thing that I hate in PVP, because it totally limits way too much your stat build diversity by the few options that you have there only..

In Pve, you are alot more free to choose how you want to have your stats, because you have multiple trinkets with that you can alot more precisely influence your wish build!

Keep this crap away from PvE.

PS: in fact, the otherv way around would be much better, make stat diversity ion PVp same like in PvE, get rid of these stupid limiting all in one amulets and let us choose our 5 single trinkets in pvp, like in pve.

PPS: the only other thign that PVE shopuld do like PVp is making UPGRADES same as easily equipable7removable, like in PvP, that would be for PvE a HUGE quality of life improvement.

I have to agree with everyone saying if it wasn’t for theif, mesmer would be dominating pvp. Also condi necro isn’t a counter to mesmer, mesmer has enough active defence and interrupts to prevent getting much condis on them in the first place( while necro has 2 dodges and no stability, interrupt all day). The condi’s we can land after all their defence is gone will not be comparable to their high burst shatters. Their ranged damage is also superior to any of necros ranged damage, they also have moa and necros have no stealth or active defence besides death shroud + very limited mobility. Imo mesmer is the hard counter for necros, personally I dont have trouble with theives.

Like I said a long time ago, Shatter Mes isn’t a hard build to play. But I don’t think it’s that effective either, just that it’s a braindead annoying class to deal with. There is literally nothing hard about evade spam while damaging.

The problem is the pathetic Mesmer community who thinks whatever their doing takes skill when there are builds that take WAY MORE skill than shatter mesmer.

In which case pray that they don’t nerf the things that keep easy mode evade while dps specs balanced.

These are my problems with mesmer and the lack of counter play to it:

1, They can spike out of stealth all the time = no counter play
2, They apply a ton of conditions, do massive damage and strip boons
3, They do too much spam damage from long ranged with the greatsword
4, Blurred frenzy cd is too short meaning they have too much invulnerability
5, They can port around like clowns and get you down when you cant hit the fools
6, They get so many procs like fire and air sigil
7, Portal is a game chaning utility
8, Moa morph is not fun in any way whatsoever
9, Cancel cast on greatsword is a cheat and an exploit and those exploting it should be banned
10, The damage it too high and too repeatable. They shouldn’t be able to spike for so much so often. I would increase the cd of shatter by 50%

Then we have some balance. Mesmer is game warping and OP as anything else. Just because thieves kill them, like they kill everything, does not make such high damage with ZERO COUNTERPLAY ok.

Please make the change and improve the game.

I’m just joking btw… Seriously though, you have some ideas there that would work nicely and this would be a pretty decent change for defense. Some of the traits in there, like CI, simply HAVE to be taken. The spread you have there is not OP, its pretty good. I’m also not a fan of Spiked Armor being a minor.

That we all should have 1 weapon, only 1 weapon attack, no utility and no traits. Every class. Cuz I could use vigor on struck and kitten, while playing warrior. So elementalists and guards cannot have it at all, cuz other classes can also use it! Thief mesmer and ranger should not be allowed to have stealth! Why? because other classes would also benefit from having free stealth.
This is the same, when u complain about fast hands, because other classes also benefits from it… OFC THEY DO. So u want us all to be the same? Neutral? Let’s remove all classes and make it one, don’t u think?

I’m not going to bother to respond to all that. It’s obvious that other classes would hugely benefit from Fast Hands, just as a warrior would hugely benefit from clone spam and stealth or protection and evade spam. FH is something we have, it’s what makes us viable. Give something like that to another class that also has multiple things a warrior does not and they’re going to be incredibly overpowered. Just because another class doesn’t have it, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t. All classes work differently, and no class has everything. Warrior is relatively balanced, some may think shoutbow is a little on the OP side, but so is D/D ele and Celestial engi…and that’s only one build. The rest of the warrior builds range between barely acceptable to complete trash. FH is an amazing skill and it is one thing all warrior builds have in common. Removing it would take our viability and throw it in the trashcan…Just as taking away a thiefs blinds/evades/invis would do the same to them.

I think the question here is why Sebrent (there may be someone else though) is so incredibly adamant on Warriors not getting Fast Hands baseline. To the point of going in a post rampage (hehe), trying to squeeze every argument possible regardless of the weight those may have. It’s like you took it personal, and your gaming experience would be ruined by such a change. :/
It came to a point that I just stopped reading your posts in their entirety, where you just clearly entered in a circular argument with others.
It’s as simple as if Warriors get FH baseline, they get to choose some other trait-line instead of 0/0/0/0/6 at all times, which will be the case with 99,9% of the Warrior builds post patch if nothing changes, specializations are supposed to be a choice. It will still be the case even if FH was made baseline becouse the discipline line is amazing, and those who wouldn’t take it would be losing a great deal, so a sacrifice would still be there. FH baseline would open some other builds to viability which wouldn’t be overpowered at all if you take a second or two to anylize the possible combinations, but that’s it, really. Personally, I’m still going to take discipline regardless. All the fus you’re creating is not at all justified in my honest opinion.

There’s a particular curiosity that happens pretty often in archetype class based RPGs which I like to call ‘profession envy’, which often encourages such discussions, often filled with argumentative fallacies, hopefully this is not the case.

The new upgrade system automatically causes upgrades to happen over time.. While having dolyaks reduce the overall time it takes.

This system has it’s pros and cons.. But mostly mainly cons.

The strong balance of the current mechanic on live, forces the players to take an active part in defending their supply camps. Making it so players have to actually leave the defensive structure, to get the supply camps under their control in order to get the upgrades going on their castle/tower.

With the new system, it promotes turtling. Just staying in the castle/tower, and not needing to worry about escorting a yak. Yaks are just perks.. not an actual need.

This is bad.

Yaks/supply camps should be the backbone for WvW. Not just a WvW feature we can easily ignore.

Without LB warrior will have no place in sPVP, coz all the cheese build will be gone and he will be left with just zerker. Then Anet will have to make zerker warrior (the fun part about playin a warrior class) viable and make balanced and beneficial traits that works for all weapons and not just with LB.

As a Ranger main, I can say the changes we got are very good, but I would give those changes just to get a GM trait the same as Fast Hands, its incredible. Anyone asking for it to be made baseline literally cares nothing about balance.

Arguing about balance is indeed the thing to do, but I don’t think anyone besides ArenaNet can do a proper analysis of the subject, given the impossible equivalences to be established between class mechanics and synergies. Theory can be performed to a certain extent, but I’d say that real simulation would be needed as well.

Anyway, the warrior is often criticized for having too much of:

  • High starting toughness and vitality,
  • Partial invulnerabilities to physical damage or condition damage,
  • Might, Fury, Stability, Endurance regeneration and Swiftness,
  • Bleeding, Crippled, Vulnerability and Weakness,
  • Hard control (if we build for it),
  • Mobility (if we build for it),
  • Condition dispel (if we build for it),
  • Blocks (if we build for it),
  • Stun breakers,
  • Combo finishers,
  • Fast weapons rotations, but only when investing at least 3 points into Discipline.

However, most warrior-haters tend to forget that the warrior has:

  • A simplified class mechanics that only brings one new weapon skill per weapon set,
  • No stealth,
  • No teleport,
  • No AI,
  • Telegraphed Attacks,
  • No condition transfer,
  • No boon removal,
  • No Chilled, No Poison,
  • Limited access to Blind, Fear, Confusion, Torment (1 skill),
  • Limited access to Burning and Immobilize (2 skills),
  • No Aegis, no Protection,
  • Limited access to Regeneration and Retaliation (1 trait),
  • 1 combo field (and fire at that, so only giving might and burn),

So yes, Fast Hands is incredible. But while I’m pretty positive that Cleansing Ire (as currently built) and Warrior’s Sprint should not be baseline, I don’t have any definite opinion about Fast Hands. Warrior is my main, but I’ve tried all 8 classes (and regularly play mesmer, thief and elem). When I actually see how buffed some other classes have become, and try to estimate the resulting overall class balance, then I believe making Fast Hands baseline wouldn’t be unreasonable at all.

And with the title, I meant stop now in following the plan as stated in the news post. We’ve been dry of new content ever since Season 2 Finale! I BEG of you – Use the Lion’s Arch rebuilding plan as a gateway to add new content!

Perhaps a quadrant of Lion’s Arch can be fixed every month, with meta events to go with each month. We visually get to see each part get fixed if enough events are completed/funds, items or materials gathered. If the part isn’t fixed by the time the next City Quadrant gets added, then players still have the choice between which quadrant they wish to work on!

Example: Month A – North-West of Lion’s Arch gets the ability to be COMMUNITY fixed.
Month B – North-East
Month C – South-East
Month D – South-West

In each month that we can fix Lion’s Arch, there are corresponding events and things to do. I think many other players would WELCOME something new to do whilst we wait for the expansion! Just see this, ArenaNet, as a chance to PROVE the players that we actually do have an impact on the world around us.


EXAMPLES FOR EVENTS IN REBUILDING LION’S ARCH: (please help suggest some for ANet, perhaps they might do it…)

  • Kill some surviving minions of Scarlett that got burried. Clear the area containing them.
  • A few undetonated mines have been fined all around this quadrant: Find them and bring them to the detonation site WITHOUT harming them on the way (similiar to Escort the Dolyak event).
  • A few toxic spores have been festering under the ruble. Whole fields of them are toxifying the land in LA – Help purity the ground and destroy the spores & offspring.
  • Some unpatient inhabitants of Lion’s Arch are having a mutiny against Ellen Keel -Find these hidden trouble makers and execute them for treachery.
  • The vast sewers of Lion’s Arch are harboring some criminals that took advantage of the distraction Scarlett created – flush them out and find their leader!
  • The breachmaker has some Power Cores left in it. Retrieve them before they get into the wrong hands and watch out for any surviving Steamwork minions.
  • Help find the right materials in the surrounding area of which new buildings can be made of (this involves meta events around the LA map, with scientists analysing the surrounding rocks for inspection as a possible building material)

At the end of each meta, a big world boss could come out, themed to the meta events.
I don’t even care about new rewards or achievements. Just give us regular loot we can already get and copy & paste them to the drop table of the bosses. Just give us SOMETHING TO DO PLEASE <3
