What builds/skills do you find OP and in what context?

My short list:

DH – Rotational defense combined with passive defense is too strong
Necro – Deathly Chill is crushing it in skirmish. Epi is still an issue.
Thief – Ever-vade builds, Ghost Thief
Warrior – The passive Signet heal needs an adjustment downwards
Mesmer – Condi Chrono for a variety of reasons needs to meet a nerf bat

You’re funny, warrior signet heal is fine. You might be thinking of adrenal health stacks off primal burst

*Mesmer *
For this update, the mesmer is receiving mostly baseline utility changes. Both the Phantasmal Disenchanter and Defender skills now have on-cast effects to gain a little more immediate effect and to differentiate the utility skill from the Mental Defense trait. Mirror Blade’s last bounce has also returned, offering higher damage to power builds.

  • Mirror Blade: Increased the number of bounces produced by this attack from 3 to 4.
  • The Prestige: The number of burning stacks have been increased from 1 to 3 stacks for 3 seconds.
  • Illusionary Mage: The recharge of the mage’s attack has been reduced from 5 seconds to 4 seconds. Burning stacks have been increased from 1 to 2 stacks, with the duration reduced from 6 to 3. The missile velocity of the mage’s attack has been increased by 33%.
  • Signet of Midnight: This skill now delivers an unblockable attack and will no longer apply blindness through evade. This skill now applies 10 stacks of vulnerability as well as cripple for 5 seconds, in addition to blinding enemies.
  • Mirror Images: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 45 seconds to 30 seconds.
  • Arcane Thievery: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 45 seconds to 35 seconds.
  • Mantra of Distraction: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 20 seconds to 12 seconds.
  • Power Lock: The recharge between uses has been reduced from 5 seconds to 4 seconds.
  • Mantra of Resolve: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 20 seconds to 15 seconds.
  • Mantra of Concentration: The stability duration has been increased from 2 seconds to 3 seconds per activation.
  • Phantasmal Defender: This utility skill now applies protection for 4 seconds in a radius around the mesmer. The damage reduction from this illusion has been reduced from 50% to 33%.
  • Phantasmal Disenchanter: This utility skill now delivers an additional attack when it is initially cast, removing boons from enemies and conditions from allies in a radius around the target.
  • Phantasmal Haste: Fixed a bug that prevented this trait from working with Illusionary Avenger.
  • Echo of Memory: Updated the skill fact for Echo of Memory’s duration.
  • Ineptitude: This trait will now track the internal cooldown for confusion application on a per-target basis. The blind earned from dodging and evading will now properly apply confusion as well.
  • Illusionary Inspiration: This trait will no longer activate Signet of Inspiration when phantasm casts are interrupted.

Actually this is how the game started. It was a fight to see who would drop who’s hp first. No Immortal specs. No support classes (no holy trinity).

You had to play either point guard bunker which was limited in sustain or fighter/roamer.

And yet condi Zerkers, and Reapers can still Tank, heal, and do the same damage. It’s just ANet forcing players to play condi comps to win matches.

I maybe a troll with class.
But at least I admit it!

No it is not wrong, it is my decision to consider sth. passive. And a trait that provides passive 7,5k heal over 15 seconds for a minimal action is in my eyes passive not active.
This isn’t science where I say 1+1 is not 2.

I think we are all aware even basic math eludes you. You can argue the differences between the two until you’re blue in the face.

For example, if I actively punch you in the face, and knock your teeth out, the active action is me punching you, the result is you missing teeth and drinking through a straw. There is always an effect resulting from an action.

I’m glad we can finally conclude this.

There has not been a think you on this forum for a long time. And it’s about time. I have spent the day playing my warrior in WvW and PVP and have decided to post my thanks here.

for reference I have been running a Sword/torch, Longbow build with Arms, Defense, and Berserker. I’m running sinister Armor, Berserker Weapons, and Celestial Trinkets

Thank you Anet, the changes are much appreciated. Longbow bow does effective damage and I love the new adrenal health.

Focus on getting Alpine back first, and getting WvW back into shape. Worry about DBL later.

The problem with reddit is: the top upvoted posts are about anet making muffins, everything else (including actually good posts) never sees the light of the day. I already find it stupid that we are pretty much forced to post on reddit to actually get dev and customer support attention because normal tools (official forums, in game ticket, account ticket) get ignored most of the time.

Did you know warrior has 2 mobility skills on greatsword and another one on sword, and is basically the most mobile class in the game after thief? :o

False. Average warrior build does not have swiftness. 25% movement does nothing when everyone else is going 33%. They still pull away from you.

I would argue that rev or scrapper are second.

Rev has access to long range teleport chaining. But relies on targeting.

Scrapper is permanent swiftness and the hammer allows for a strong gap closer. Plus you can mask the movement with the gyro.

pulse resistance each second
require 10 adrenaline

frenzy
pulse might, quickness each second
require 10 adrenaline

That would mean: Never ever use burst abilities, no ty.

I hope Anet doesn’t just glance the topic and ignore this thread. This is by far the best suggestion in fixing the warrior I have seen. It’s simple and yet it keeps warriors mechanics exactly the same. But the impact is significant, it will free up utility slots so warriors can finally use rage skills or physical skills and even bring banners to team fights.

Tiny buffs to skills and traits that didn’t need them. Our problem was never damage. The healing buffs are a very tiny step in the right direction, but the change on Berserker stance is a leap back. IMO, stances should be unique to simply having boons. That’s what makes them standout from the plethora of other skills from other classes that do the same thing.

I finished reading the patch note. I was waiting on it to see what it would be and if Anet went forward with ‘’fixing warrior movement skills’‘. Seems its all about little tweaks and no major change. I still believe that some more important aspect of a warrior’s problems were left unanswered once again.

-Basic skill behavior
(1) : Warrior’s gap closer need to be more accurate. As an exemple [Rush] and [Bull rush] would need to get us on our target on a near 100% basis (see here terrain bug that could be the only non-player related reason for the skill not getting us on top of an ennemy). Those skills often get us behind our target, still a few steps away from them simply because the skill failed to identify where the person was walking to (see here simply walking and not actually blinking or dodging).

(2) : Gap closer skills should land their hit on a near 100% basis. Warrior’s gap closer skill have a hard time actually landing their hit. Taking [Savage leap] as an exemple (even if the skills cited as point 1 automatically result in a problem on landing the hit since you are not where your target is). As for [Savage leap], the movement part of the skill is pretty fine, it will get you to your target, sadly the animation when the warrior land and try to hit the target will sometimes bug and the warrior will swing the sword where the ennemy is not, resulting in a miss simply because the ennemy was moving (see here simply moving and not dodging or blinking away).

(3) : Warrior’s gap closer distance should not be affected by minus % movement speed. Since the 23rd of june patch, warrior movement skills have been made baseline and +% movement speed doesn’t affect them anymore, so why should -% movement speed affect them? Take [Evsicerate] as an exemple. This skill will travel about 200 range only when affected by [Chill]. This behavior is also true for [Shield Bash]. Especially since chill is now even more present with the new specialisation (Reaper). [Chill] could still make the skill behave slower than intended, but the distance traveled should still be what is written, a simple spammable condition should not punish a warrior mobility to that extent. Warriors needs to get back their mobility.

Balancing should be done around mechanics that are working as intended.
I wish the best to those who found salvation on this patch. As for myself (a player who plays 100% melee characters since my first video game experience). I feel like this patch missed what I envisioned for my future on GW2.

As a melee lover, GW2 seems like they just don’t love melee and push people into playing ranged… Buff to riffle on warriors…. Dragonhunter as the new Elite spec for guardians… Even Medi guard (which was the second most melee oriented build) is not doing good…

Now when season ended I ended with this…Right after reset at 26.01 I was in middle of match…if i didn’t earned just one pin I could be in legendary.

After being stuck and fighting 5 days in last tier diamond i finally ended with this…. Now i can’t stop tormenting myself with thinking where i would have been and how much frustration could be avoided if matchmaking change wasn’t rushed so much.

I am not rageing just depressed about how pointless was my participation in this season. One rushed upadate can ruin all your effort, hard work and fun in this game, especially if you are solo queuer. Few days ago i was proud that i was in diamond, now i feel like pice garbage.

Now when i read that top ESL players predict no future for ele and mes wchich are my favorite classes and knowing that untested big changes can be droped down in middle of sesson i really don’t see point for myself to play pvp or even rest gw 2 content right now. I am happy that many solo queuers were able reach legend division even against this unfair odds and i hope they will achvie this again in next sessons. I after this 2 months i am burned out and hopelles.

You use the argument that mesmers burst is useless because of the current bunker meta, yet, by the times these changes come it wont be that same bunker meta

This is the problem with most of the proposed balance changes people suggest, they list all kinds of buffs to counter what is OP right NOW while neglecting all the nerfs that are already going to happen at the same time, resulting in them suggesting WAY overcompensated buffs

I suggest you go and play mesmer with staff, and also while doing so test one hand sword (main hand), and also test scepter.. Then come back and tell how good dps are, and that its fine! You can even go full glass build for max dps while doing so, and I can still tell u it SUCKS!!!

It doesnt matter if bunkers got removed all together, mesmer dps would still have lots of problem. Staff would still do horrible dmg, scepter would still do horrible dmg and one hand sword would still be very clunky to use while beeing non rewarding for going into mele…

Also there is a difference between sustained and burst… In shatter mesm you will have some burst windows, if u dont manage to drop ur opponent then and there, ur screwed! Also u are in full glass to be able to burst like other classes can, while they atleast are still able to take some hits… Also take that spec to a group fight, and we see were you land… lol… Beeing able to 1vs1 is a whole different thing…

People talk about mesmer like they run around with perma evade, blurr and amazing survivability… Go look at those skills granting that, then also look at them cds… And also inc nerfs hit some of that quite hard…

Also mesmer class is not = Chronobunk

People allways act like mesmer and chronobunk is that same, iam sorry but Chronobunk is a spec, and its broken, and now it get nerfed hard!

Core mesmer had problem outside of that chronobunk all the time!

Mesmers are tired of people that either dont main it, or people that play other classes telling mesmers that their dps is “fine”. Its not!

Not every class needs to have amazing sustained dps, mesmer gives a lot of utility to make up for its lack of dps, and is also one of the highest burst damage classes. Buffing mesmer damage is extremely dangerous as they can already instant burst down glassy builds, imagine that killshot warrior with a bunch of invulnerability, stealth, and teleporting, kitten gets broken quickly

Well they are buffing rifle… cuz ye i chosed warrior cuz i want to play ranged, cuz god even an engi is a better melee than warrior. I just think they have no idea on how to make melee classes viable. Actualy, i think in any other game when you close the gap and get in a melee range with a melee class, you are in advantage against ranged opponent… in this game NOT!!!!! It’s the opposite, opponent necro/DH bow/ranger are even happy of the warrior getting close, so that they can kittenbomb aoe on themself.
I’m playing solo warrior on diamond league, and you know what are the most common top player i get in the end of the game? Top healing to self, and TOP CONDITION DAMAGE RECIEVED.
So arenanet, the problem of warrior is not the healing, is the fact that a melee class will recieve double the condi apply than any other class, cuz to land your attacks you will go in melee and no matter what, you will proc some of those aoe spam on a team fight.
So instead of trying to transform us warrior in a CoD sniper thing, try to give us some DECENT CONDI CLEANSE mechanics at least in line with other classes. If you dont want us to be able to cleanse our ally is okay, we wont have that support role to differentiate from others classes, but rlly if you rlly want to increase our self sustain, give us a decent anti condi mechanic.

Also, another thing i totaly disagree, is that class like reaper has more access to stability than warrior -.-, really no sense, you stun a necro? who cares, he has double life, you probably are chilled and weakened, so he can even /laugh at you while beeing stunned.

And to end this, i’ve watched some esl pro league match, what i’ve seen is that players are not using theyr skill with accuracy, meaning that they dont really care if some of their skill will miss, they can just spam them! is a spam fest!!! Most of them are not even caring to hit the target, theyr CD are rotating much better than warrior that it doesnt matter if some attack miss, cuz in fact they can easy reset any fight and try again!!!
With warrior, if you miss some crucial attack, only thing you can do is try to run away!!!
Warrior the easier class of the game? No, warrior is the only class that actualy take skill, every class should have similar mechanic, and punish players for brainless spam.

I get it – I might have come off as too aggressive but honestly – I’m tired of people thinking they have a fix for everything and that reworking something in their particular way is clearly the best way to go about things.

I’ve been here since release – I know the class – I’ve played the class as my main ever since release – over 3k hours on it.

I like the class and dislike people who have no idea what they’re doing but they’re going to “rework” something just because they feel like it.

Yes warrior isn’t in a great spot in PvP right now – but reworking it isn’t going to put it in a better place.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”
