If you’re anything like me you were happy to see the rework on the Strength trait line for warriors. I was so happy in fact I have traded in the watered down version of “Berserker” for core warrior and am pretty happy with it. So my question to Anet is, when I can I expect you to ruin it? For whatever reason warrior isn’t allowed to be “Meta” and I’m fine with that. I’m not fine with the fact that Anet just won’r allow people who play warrior to have something solid to play for any length of time. They have nerfed the warrior profession regularly since HoT to the point that it has no “elite” specialization anymore. Maybe that’s the way it should be. At least until PoF, am I right?

This isn’t a complaint just an honest question. Will core warrior as it is right now get nerfed into the ground when PoF releases?

I welcome feedback from other professions as well, which is why i didn’t post this on the warrior forum. Has Anet made your “elite” a joke? Is the core offering of your profession better the the elite? Please keep in mind this is a pvp forum. PvE is an entirely different discussion.

Shoutbow is probably the best example of a build that goes into discipline tree only for FH. It doesn’t need WS at all, and while it benefits from extra adrenaline from Versatile Rage, picking Arms tree would be much better.
But Shoutbow is a special case, it uses less adrenaline than other builds while having an extra way of generating it. It is hard to imagine a build with axe, rifle, mace, hammer or longbow that doesn’t use Burst Mastery (or at least VR).

Disclaimer: This post will concern the PvP warrior and the direction warrior is hopefully/should continue taking in the next balance patches and expansions.

Spellbreaker will be a strong, balanced and fun warrior spec in the next expansion.
It gives warriors access to the things that they have needed the most: a source of personal periodic resistance and skill based condition removal (Full Counter, Cleansing Ire), boon striping, and a personal invulnurability that does NOT come from UTILITIES.
Take note of that last part, because it is the key to success and its where Anet is taking the warrior and I’m here to say that it’s a very good thing.
Warriors are and have almost always been reliant on passive abilities and passive defensive utilities. Look at all of our utilities, all one click and done and they are WAY too good to pass up as utilities in PvP. This all arose during the hasty balances by Anet back when they made the game. Especially when they buffed Healing Signet 4-5 years ago when warrior was subpar at best. The fixes were hastily done to appease players and to keep them from quitting the game in its early state. That is when we saw builds like Hambow dominate simply because Healing Signet, Berserkers Stance, Balanced Stance, and Endure Pain, were all extremely strong and always have been. Even now, the best utilities STILL ARE those 4 utilities, even after major nerfs to them.

Now however, Anet is not as worried about losing their player base/has more time on their hands to balance and as a result,they are slowly making changes to warrior to make us more skill based and less reliant on our passive utilities. They are giving us skill based abilities and access to resistence, stability, regen, might stacking and condition removal through our choice of traits and abilities, NOT our utilities. This is a truly great thing because warriors have so many cool utilities that are simply not viable/unusable because we have needed Stances to survive in the past. However, they can’t just buff traits and leave stances the way that they are, or we will truly become unkillable.

Seeing things like Full Counter in the game, and the nerf to Endure Pain and tweaks on adrenal regen and healing signet gives me hope that warrior will become a more balanced, skill dependent class. Instead of a class entirely reliant on its passive utilities. They are buffing signets (still more skill based than stances), Bulls Charge, and giving us a pretty solid skill based heal, while also slightly nerfing endure pain, berskers stance and healing signet.
They obviously still have some tweaking to do, but I appreciate the direction that they are taking. I would love to be able to use less of my stances and more of my cooler, more skill based and rewarding utilities such as Bulls Charge, Throw Bolas, Kick, and Stomp. Not only will these things make warrior less faceroll, but it will also bring the feel of playing an actual warrior class to the game, which is definitely something we need to continue in future balance patches. More skill, less passive.

Stick and Move as a short buff after the dodging, similar to thief’s trait Bounding Dodger, would make it much more convenient to maintain the Traits uptime on warrior.
Currently, with Building Momentum and Might Makes Right procs it can be quite tricky, especially within the more sustain DPS environment, like PvE.

the only “issue” I’d see with it is that it removes revealed – but hey that’s a hefty CD on it and you know what will be also added with that expac to one other class?

AoE reveal, 2 charges, 20s to recharge one and if revealing that thief who have just stealthed was not enought it also removes blindness and guarantee next hit being a crit – and is much more spammable

frankly I’m afraid that most of thieves will actually need that 1500 range to not be masacrated by all those spellbreakers that are bound to show-up on them…

Anet is showing some interest in making WvW a better game mode and the pips/leggy armor/backpiece and all that jazz is sure a step in the right direction as well as the separation of skills between gamemodes. (im not gonna talk about the recent balance patch)

However before you make any more changes to WvW fix the lag.
Honestly i love wvw but the lag is something that needs to get sorted especially in 3 way fights in eb. skills dont work lag is an issue.

If your servers cant handle it dial the numbers back down on each borderland and give us another wvw map like ebg (5 maps in total)

The lag makes me give up on the gamemode more than anything else

Considering it gives a title related to the raid specific armors, that would be terrible.

I would not mind if you made new titles for the WvW/PvP armors though.

Request-lock reward tracks

Can we please get the ability to lock which reward track it chooses?
Currently, it finishes a track and put the extra earned in to the next track it chooses. For me, it always seems to jump to a dungeon reward track which just wastes it.
I would like to be able to lock it on the triumphant so it only ever repeats that.

Berserker's Power needs to Refresh Duration

While the current change to Berserker’s Power is interesting, it results in an overall nerf to the trait because gaining a new stack does not refresh the duration of the previous stack. It is only possible to maintain 3 stacks of Berserker’s Power for a short amount of time when stacking off primal bursts. On average, the change results in 2 stacks of Berserker’s Power in PvE, resulting in a 6% nerf to the trait overall. This does not result in making it feel good to use Level 1 Bursts.

Requested change: When a new stack of Berserker’s Power is gained, the duration of any previous stack needs to be reset at 10 seconds. Without this change, Berserker’s Power is not functional and results in a nerf to Power Berserker’s best damage trait, when Power Berserker is already is in a bad spot.

Alternative change: Change the damage bonus to 10%/20%/30% if you don’t want to change how stack duration works.

Even the most smallest weapons like dagger has 5 targets skills and its mobile..

Also 100b dps sucks. << DPS.. not total damage. Some aa attacks do more damage then 100b

Babazhook is entitled to his opinion; if you have fun running without endure pain, good for you.

I personally take outnumbered fights super often so there’s 0 choice for me, it’s just too good. And honestly, When running full zerk/marauder power build, I really can’t think of a reason not to in normal fights, especially running eternal champion for all them juicy stabs. WvW on high tier servers are filled with big groups, tons of midfight +1’s over and over, and 25 blood lust stack thieves roaming in groups of two who actually know how to play their class.

Endure Pain for me is almost a means of saying I respect the intelligence of who I might go against. Or I respect the combined pressure of 3 people vs me where I can tank infinite power pressure for 4 seconds and kill someone who over commits and win a fight I never would without it.

Power Builds tend to indicate a person knows how to play their class because in the current meta, it’s quite a bit harder to make them work. Endure Pain for me is beating that scholar rune mesmer who knows his stuff, the patient thief who wants to reopen after proccing my traited EP from stealth, that occasional power Rev I wildly underestimate etc.

That’s all i’m gonna say on EP; because what everyone CAN agree on is that the balance team made a large misstep on shield bash and it should be changed back.

The biggest issue is there’s no punishing bad play as dodge, dodge, dodge (signet), dodge, dodge, dodge, (switch to SB) dodge, 555 can take them further away than even portal goes.

Or more realistically you can skip the signet and still end up ooc or at ranges most classes cannot punish you for making a mistake or burning cool downs in a silly fashion. What’s the cool down on dodging 3 times and SB5 away twice? I make it about 10s given a lot of thieves run endurance regen food and will have vigor from steal. A lot of classes can’t keep up with how low some thief cool downs are and bandits defence is an example of extremely poor balancing.

A thiefs biggest enemy is themselves.

Why trying to patch AFK pipping when you can just give pips for each rank up (N pips per rank up). That way, everyone will want to play instead of AFK. With the fix today, I still can just find a spot, build a treb and treb a wall once a minute.

So what if you have to work a little? I did a guild mission like that not long ago. we where only 3 and we had to cap everything. We defended the camps and the tower, even dumped speedy dollies in. Must have killed 20 or so enemies, lost one of the camps once but took it back (luckily that wasnt the speedy camp). Did it take a while? Sure.

Now do cap n hold for camp, tower, and keep in one three-hour rally, one at a time because you can’t run them simultaneously.

From what I’ve been reading, most people have seemed to say that while headbutt certainly needed a nerf (among other things), the Shield Bash change is just garbage.

In bringing more visibility to this one item in particular, I’d like people to give their unbiased opinions, in case ANet cares to look or take a second thought in the event an overwhelming majority of people think it’s just not a good direction. Warrior needed nerfs, but this just makes it clunky.

I think the tournament/high level player base and general lack of warriors within speaks for itself.

It’s stupid easy to dodge so much of warriors CC right now.

How to stop outnumbered abuse

I see nothing wrong with the way it currently works.

If I’m in a BL with outmanned I ping the Outmanned buff into /t and then ping a waypoint in a different BL.

Works everytime and ppl who abuse the system tend to send you hate whispers making life all that more enjoyable for the next 5 minutes LOL

Yes… “people who abuse the system”… the irony hurt my brain.

I still think that the simplest way is adding a 2.5m cd (half a tick) after map hopping on getting the buff. Then all we need to is make it so that if you are determined for 1m, all pip gain stop until the buff goes away. Stop outnumbered and safe zone afking in one swoop.

The worst part is that it destroys part of the appeal of the shield. For warriors, paladins, fighters, vanguards, and shield-bearers of all types across all games, the shield has had two purposes – To provide a barrier to protect against overwhelming assaults, and to interrupt and knock careless enemies off balance. Now, with this change, the Shield has gone from a skill that interrupts to one that gets interrupted. The problem was with Skull Grinder and Headbutt, not Shield Bash. Those have been fixed, and the change to shield bash is overkill.

But what’s most distressing to me, I think, about the change is that the loss of enjoyment of the skill will not show up in their metrics, and will be left to languish for far, far too long – Shield Stance is still to valuable for shield to disappear from Warrior’s gameplay, and people will still find a way to use Shield Bash in more niche situations – But as a skill that requires set-up, instead of one that sets up attacks based on enemy response.

To be honest. I simply don’t see why they nerfed healing signet instead of nerfing how Berzerker could gain Adrenal health version 3x by spamming their F1 or simply nerfing ‘’Dead or alive’’ trait wich is a sustain trait for berzerker only… So core warrior got the nerf along with a patch that was suposed to be aimed at berzerker….

How many kittening core warrior did you see in PvP in the last year or so? About none…

league of legends designers made a good point in one of their videos with devs. when you design pvp you not only have to make things fun to play as but fun to play against. gw2 condis is very unfun to play against

i only play gw2 for pve now. gw2 is the best pve game there is but pvp is a joke

pvp is not fun whatsoever.

teammates like necro (chillblains, RS4, regen corrupt, whirl in poison field) and engi (Fumigate, chemical field+whirl) cleaving is more than enough to hit the 5 stacks and much more.

this game does not need more cc and for sure thief is the one class that does not need more of it

I disagree. It just made the weapon more viable. If you can show me a thief using shortbow for a majority of a fight over d/p or really any other weapon set I will concede and say this was an unnecessary change

This is absurd lol. The issue is that, even when a Warrior is cleaving, now, you can potentially rez through it, with ranger and scrapper. Thief is so good that you literally can not. And you can’t just say, ‘oh, YOU need to go out and show me some statistically analysis about how this is overpowered’ when that’s clearly just a cop-out of you not wanting to actually argue your points. Nobody’s going to actually do that.

There are people that have been playing GW2 competitively for, like, 3 years, that are saying that this change feels kittening awful.

But, you know what, I’ll oblige. During the first inhouses after the patch, Thieves were pressing 4 on downs as many times as they could, and then swapping to D/P, and autoattacking, and it just automatically ended the rez, no matter what happened. Short of an invuln (because surprisingly stab doesn’t last that long when you’re losing 1 stack every second), no rezzes were had.

Ofc nobody’s going to go out of their way to respond to an anecdotal question with a statistical answer, so you’re going to have to get an anecdotal one in response.
