“Damage taken while in death shroud will now overflow to the necromancer’s health pool if the damage taken is greater than the remaining life force.”

No. No no, no, no no, no no. That is <word that would be replaced by “kitten kitten”>. Why?! The only thing that enabled was jumping off things. What was broken about that?!?

“Damage taken while in death shroud will now overflow to the necromancer’s health pool if the damage taken is greater than the remaining life force.”

Pretty much makes DS useless for absorbing burst damage now unless you have full LF now.

I am just hoping that “Fixed a bug that caused the necromancer to take increased damage from direct attacks while in death shroud.” the bug was like 50% more dmg so that at least we don’t feel the effect that much.

I get the logic behind the DS change, and would almost consider it a fix of the way it should have been all along. What I don’t like it the nerf to terror. What about all of us who aren’t running the fotm glass cannon build? And still no sustain. Are they even listening to the community…apparently all they can hear is the QQ about how necro’s weren’t a free kill for a whole 15 minutes and we can’t have that.

All these 1 second cool downs make the skills worthless. Where’s my disengage? Wheres my block? Wheres my invuln? Wheres my evade?

I’d go so far as to say spectral armor is worse than before.

the way you teleport is literally just based on ‘can you get there without jumping in x distance’. If you can, such as walking around up onto the bridge, then you can shadow step up there and all that jazz, if you can’t get there at all without jumping/falling, then no luck.

I’m for promoting Trahearne to Council for 3 reasons

  • He can spend all his days in boring Council meetings and I don’t have to deal with him
  • He takes credit for anything good that anyone else does, so I feel is perfect for a role in government
  • I’m sure Mei Trin is going to manage to escape at some point and she has a good record in killing council members.

I am not sure if I should start bashing Trahearne right now or if I should add my support here just for the hell of it.
It would be awesome if he just walked to Kiel in LA and said something like: “‘Your’ ship belongs to the Pact. Please, give it back”. Then she would be like “NUH-UH!” and he would be all like “This won’t end well. Commander, to me!” and we would be like “Ohoo, this is going to be good”.

Alright I will support Marshal Tree-Sue. But just because I hate Kiel even more.

I would guess that they have made 2 short cutscenes; one for each candidate winning, as well as some minor dialogue changes. Then we’ll probably be presented with some problem that is independent of either candidate winning (possibly sewers of Rata Sum or something with Mr. E/Marjory/Kasmeer). Then, after 4 months or so (when the living story team actually builds content knowing who the winner is) we’ll get living story where the winner plays a more influential role.

A Future with Skritt King

in Cutthroat Politics

Posted by: Sulist.2408

Sulist.2408

Greetings Forum Dwellers,

Avid readers of the Orrator make have seen a link to an article I posted on the GW2 reddit thread of the Skritt King’s interest in joining the Lion Arch’s council.

The political machine is only moments away from running full steam, and no one knows tinkering better than the skritt. In order to disperse this foolhardy idea that the Skritt King should not be considered a realistic opponent, please allow me a moment of your time to draw on some points not already addressed in the outstanding articles linked above.

  • The Skritt King is distinct. With a considerably diverse pallet of individuals already on the council, the Skritt King’s ability to bring new talents to the table would be a boon to the vast array of offensive, defensive and bartering capabilities.
  • The Skritt King endures. The Skritt King is less of a person, and more of a skritt ideal. When one falls, another takes his place. In this, the worry of assassination becomes less of an issue. One skritt for another. This as well provides for a constant cycle of new perspectives and fresh ideas to come to the table.
  • The Skritt King unites. There are already many skritt living in Lion’s Arch already. However, their loose morals and individual attitudes do not lend well to the spirit of interracial co-operation in Lion’s Arch. Under the intelligible wing of the Skritt King, their knowledge can be pooled to serve as a well-oiled machine. Churning out amazing ideas to run the city more efficiently, swiftly.
  • The Skritt King is resourceful. Anyone who has seen a skritt burrow has come to ponder on the skritt’s ability to turn what was once considered “junk” into homes, machines and inventions that push forward the community. Lion’s Arch was built on a similar foundation, reusing their once ill-gotten gains and tools of the sea to create a new home.

Lastly, I’d like to point out that, like the skritt, the founder’s of Lion’s Arch were once considered rather disreputable themselves. Pillaging and stealing from merchants and travelers, they re-focused their ideals to much success. At the new heart of Tyria, the Skritt King can find a new path for the skritt with the association of the other races, propelling all to a brighter and shinier future.

Not to mention shinies. Also, shinies.
Lots of shinies.
Swimming in shinies.
All the shinies!

Remember, do your part and support the Skritt King for Lion’s Arch council. Make your own posters, buttons and other related campaign paraphernalia to show that you can be as inventive and creative as the skritt! Post them in this thread! Keep the spirit of the skritt alive! For shinies, Yes?

(Keep in mind this is for the fun, entertainment and enjoyment of any and all. It is appreciated to keep things classy in the thread. Speak your mind, but try not to overly sour the situation.)

Story-wise, I’d vote for Ellen Kiel (and that’s what I’m gonna do, probably).
Bonus-wise, I’m indifferent. I neither need cheaper waypointing nor BL keys.
Fractal-wise, I’m more interested in the Reactor, so again, Ellen Kiel.

Seems like a done deal, right?

But then my boyfriend pointed out something this morning that I hadn’t considered. The Abaddon fractal might come with new models/textures while the Thaumanova story wouldn’t require them. But I would like to see new models and textures. It’s still speculation, of course.

Anyway, before you lot welcome me to the dark side: I’m still going to vote for Ellen; however, if Gnashblad wins, I’m going to have fun with the new content anyway. And PS: waiting for him to d evil things and eventually removing him from his position will be fun, too.

Seriously, who cares about keys or wps.
Are you really that poor in-game to be all exited for reduced WP costs?
And I doubt anyone here is exited for more RNG keys either.

The point is, 4 week price reductions doesn’t matter, neither do silly mini-games, they’re irrelevant, the question should be : *which dungeon is better? *
And, I think we already know the answer for that : Abaddon.

Weapon Type: Whip

in Suggestions

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Hi guys! There has been some discussion about whips as a possible new weapon type in various sub forums and other threads such as “which weapon types would you andd and why?”
But surely whips deserve a thread of its own!
(I know of the theard in the ranger subforum, but but but… other classes want whips too.)

Here’s my thoughts (this is just me dreaming up something I would love to be able to play with):

Whips (in real life) can be used with main hand, off hand and dual-wielded. Whips can be used for noise, damage, and control (i.e. wrap an item or person).

Main hand: (mainly) damage
- Smack (moderate damage)
- Slice (less damage + bleed)
- Knock down (least damage + knock + cripple)

Off-hand: control
- Wrap (immobilize)
- Pull

Disclaimer: most skills do more than just 1 or 2 things at a time, but I wanted to keep the above list simple. But there is a lot of room to be creative with additional conditions for the class-based skills…

Classes who can use the whip - What I think

Ranger: off-hand
Excuse: pet control, “beastmaster style”
Enhancing the axe or sword in main hand.

Thief: off-hand
Excuse: catburglar, “catwoman style”
Enhancing dagger or sword in main hand.

Engineer: damage
Excuse: non-magical ranged weapon (short range), adventuring “Indy style”
An alternative to the main hand pistol skills, combines with off-hand pistol or shield.

Necromancer: dual-wield
Excuse: minion control, “evil dominator style”
Dual whips will make the necro look like a total boss.

Total combinations overview (I think they all work):
Axe + Whip (Ranger, Necromancer)
Sword + Whip (Ranger)
Dagger + Whip (Thief, Necromancer)
Sword + Whip (Thief)
Pistol + Whip (Thief)
Whip + Pistol (Engineer)
Whip + Shield (Engineer)
Whip + Whip (Necromancer)
Whip + Dagger (Necromancer)
Scepter + Whip (Necromancer)
Whip + Focus (Necromancer)
Whip +Warhorn (Necromancer)

Classes who can use the whip - What others think

I also hear people want the whip for Warriors, Mesmers and Elementalists. I’m not personally a fan of these combinations so this is not a priority to me, but nobody should feel left out so early in the discussion, so here goes:

Warrior: off-hand
Excuse: “gladiator style”. I don’t see any warrior trading their high damage weapon for a whip, but I guess they could use it as an alternative to the warhorn / shield if they would prefer some control skills over boons / protection.

Elementalist: I have no idea
I have never played an elementalist so I really don’t know. My personal opinion is that whips are non-magical weapons; or if you would like a “magical whip” instead that’s already in the game (lightning whip), or could be, as previously suggested, a scepter skin which would automatically be available to elementalists.

Mesmer: I have no idea
I haven’t spent enough time playing my mesmer either to really have an opinion outside of that I don’t really see how a whip would suit the otherwise posh and elusive style of a mesmer. But: if it was a scepter skin would automatically be available to mesmers (same as with eles and necros).

Portable door! Player housing.

Either way, this thread needs all the +1s.

I am really looking forward to player housing, but I’d hate to be “stuck” in Divinity’s Reach Salma District, when my character’s backstory says that she’s from Beetletun, or has relocated to Lornar’s Pass permanently, or is currently a fugitive hiding in a swamp hut in Caledon Forest.

Portable door! Player housing.

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Here’s an idea to implement player housing. Players carry a portable magical door, which they can place on any wall in a town or outpost, to claim it as their own. Even houses that have no interior (since a lot of houses in towns are just decoration) can be claimed, but you can only use the door once. You can place your magical door on top of an existing door, or simply place it in an alley as some sort of secret access to your house.

Once the door is placed, it will forever be the entrance to your private home.

Multiple players can claim the same spot as their house, if they want. They can place their door anywhere they like, as long as it is in one of the existing cities. Touching this door takes them to their very own private house, which would be a separate instance.

Players that are in your party are allowed to join you in your home as you enter it, much like joining a story instance or a dungeon.

Each player receives one such portable door for free. And it can only be used once. Players can buy a new portable door from the Gem store if they change their mind.

This is the single best idea I’ve heard in regards to player housing so far.

I love it! Have a +1.

Think of all the awesome possibilities. Want to move into a Hylek town? A skritt tunnel, maybe, for a while? One of the straw huts in Southsun Cove? No problem.

Seriously, I’d probably be buying doors for my characters by the dozens.

The only thing “missing” from this, that would make it even sweeter for me, is shared housing for people who RP families, or are in RL relationships and such. My boyfriend and I would like to be able to cohabit. This is, of course, only relevant if there is anything that the owner of the house can do that any guests can’t, such as furnishing it.

The other idea would be to give players one door per character instead of per player, for completing the personal story, which I know most players do only on their main right now.
