Lacking Growth

in Living World

My main issue with the living story, and concern with the games future, is that while we see a lot of change, there is very little growth.

The largest addition to this game was fractals and the southsun cove map, nearly a year ago. Since then we have only seen additions to southsun cove and more mini-games. Other than these, and perhaps a few small changes I’ve forgotten about, there has been no growth provided by the living story. Everything else has been changes to existing content, is going to be removed once the living story segment ends, or has been removed.

This is not good for the health of the game. The lack of growth makes the game feel stale as outside of what each living story release offers, you’re not left with much more than what you’ve been doing for the past year, and some of the content which you used to enjoy (I’m looking at you TA forward/up) is gone due to forced replacement in order to make the game look like it’s changing rather than expanding.

The living story needs to focus more on expanding the game, not just changing it.

WXP for laurels is not alt friendly

The fewer alts we play, the quicker we burn out on the game. All these alt-unfriendly features are going to hurt the game badly in the long run.

WXP for laurels does not help at all. Laurels are just as alt-unfriendly as their supply is limited severely limited.

Sooo you flatout lied to us when you said youd be giving us new permanent content in the form of an additional dungeon path. This is replacement content. Not what we wanted, go back to the drawing board. TAFU merely needed the boss to be reverted to the way he was to be one of the more played paths again, no need to delete it =/ Myself and other players still ran this path for some extra challenge.. This is not what you have been promising us, at all.

I was really looking forward to this patch, now im debating wether to log on for it at all -.-

Why didn’t you just make it a fourth path like you did with Arah (giving it four paths versus other dungeons with three)?

Sanctum of Rall (NA) – [LOD] – PvE/Dungeon Phantasm Mesmer build
Morrï (Mesmer) | Serah Mahariel (Guardian) | Morrï Mahariel (Warrior)

Is ANet listening or do they just not care?

It’s not that Anet haven’t pay attention to these forums – they clearly have, as evidenced by the fact that they make changes that we’ve requested: e.g. gameplay that rewards multiple groups over monolithic zergs; more opportunities for roamers and small groups; new content in the WvW maps – all things we’ve been asking for.

The problem is Anet’s attention to these forums appears to stop once they’ve got ideas of areas where we want changes.

Once they’ve got a list of possible areas they then ignore anything about the priority or nature of the changes we want in those areas. Instead they pick some items off that list that could involve new content or addtional rewards and go off to develop those according to their own ideas, independent of any wisdom that the forums might have on the subject.

This is why ANet can deliver a poorly thought out WXP system, some map changes a buff we’ve been protesting about for months, and a premature league system while ignoring some of our top complaints (e.g. massive server/match-up imbalance, the broken party system, the stone age commander tags).

Hi All,

I wanted to comment about the incident that happened recently in-game, surrounding some negative community interaction from a member of the ArenaNet staff.

Simply put a big mistake was made by one of our employees, for which he is both very upset and sorry. He allowed his personal feelings to affect his interactions in-game whilst representing ArenaNet, and this is absolutely unacceptable.

Like all players, we are human, and all have our opinions on the game. However these opinions should never disrupt other player’s enjoyment of the things they love. On top of this we have worked very hard to create a community that is respectful to one another, and for this behavior to have occurred while a developer is representing ArenaNet is doubly saddening.

We all cherish the opportunity to play with the community, and we absolutely rely on you all for in game feedback, and personally I hope that this incident does not hamper what has so far been an amazing relationship and opportunity for us all.

I would therefore like to sincerely apologize for this behavior on behalf of our staff member. We are taking steps to address the incident and for his part, he is very sorry for behaving in the manner in which he did.

Regarding Guild game play, please understand it is extremely important to us, and an area we are paying a great deal of attention to, so please do be patient with the developers who work tirelessly on making WvW the very best it can be, they have a great deal of respect for you all, and value your collaboration in pushing this pioneering mode forward. Also please note this member of staff is not on the WvW team.

Finally, World vs. World is a free-for-all battle. Our expectation of staff is that they should be playing, and enjoying the game like everyone else, and not being disruptive or disrespectful to others.

And in this spirit I hope we can move forward, and continue, what has up to this point, been a great community/developer relationship. One that I know our team massively values and loves.

Thank you all for your time and i hope you have a lovely weekend,

ChrisW

Sorry that this “name and shames”. I tried to edit but I’m woefully bad at doing so. Anyways, here is some screenshot of an ANET employee kind of being a jerk to us who were GvGing. Hopefully I don’t get infracted, but I imagine it’s coming.

Enjoy,

If you don’t want them to have to read bad posts, a good start would be not making a bad post.

If you contrast the style and sophistication of game play in WvW now versus what it was shortly after launch, there is absolutely no comparison … and it’s all for the worse. A very intriguing concept for strategy-based PvP has been systematically trashed by subversive changes instead of needed fixes and enhancements. We’re not talking occasional bad decisions here … we’re talking an ongoing pattern of cluelessness that surpasses anything I’ve seen anywhere else in MMO-land. When I finally throw in the towel and abandon this mess, it will be with a great deal of sadness for what could have been.

“After a careful reevaluation of orbs of power we have decided to remove them from WvW in an upcoming build. As implemented, orbs tend to strengthen teams who are already winning and make it even more difficult for underdog teams to fight back.”

Habib Loew from Anet 10 months ago….. would love to hear Devon or anyone from Anet explain why Habib’s statement is no longer valid.

Anet want you to TPvP. They do not care about WvW. As far as they are concerned WvW is like a gateway to lead you to TPvP. They intentionally killed GvG as it would most likely have become more popular than TPvP and their poor attempt at an Esport would have less players.
With the latest patch they have added TPvP like objectives to lure people there even more. Sadly all thats happening is a lot of people are leaving the game. Ive logged in once and was dissapointed, i doubt i will again unless something changes.

Mark, since you seem to be monitoring this thread…

Many people have requested separate Suggestion sub-forums under main Forum areas (PvP, WvW, PvE, Crafting, etc) – Can we please get that implemented as I see it only helping everybody:

  • Devs can focus on Suggestions for the areas they work on
  • People can post Suggestions where they can be seen by others interested in the same area/topic
  • Mods would have less threads to move around as people would be most often posting in the correct place to begin with

They removed the orbs for a very good reason, why.. why bring them back?

You just ruined duels, you just ruined guild vs guild meetings.. you just ruined the fun out of lone roamers like myself… and worst of all, you just made the strongest server even stronger

Dear god, whats happening to developers lately? Do they even play games and understand whats best for them?
