Seriously, do I really need to listen to Marjory and Kasmeer bang on and on about their relationship while doing my supposedly epic quest? I thought you guys said you learned from Season 1, but the level of uninteresting NPC dialogue is just through the roof and I haven’t even played 20 minutes.

Do I really have to spend every story quest with these people from now on?

Outfits instead of Armours

Just some feedback and wondering if other people feel the same.

The Ancestral costume, is awesome. There is of course a but, but it would be even better as an armour skin, since you can customize it and really make it unique to your character.

The new Shadow Thief armour, is bulky and not amazing. Parts of it would really work well for some good looks, the helm for example with the trailing cloth is really nice and would suit alot of thieves.

Instead the armour is made, then locked into a 4 colour way dye system, and you cannot separate the parts. I really feel that this is a bad trend to continue, and hope it does change. I also wish for the new costume to be made into an armour. I have no use for it as a costume.

GW2 end game, has a major part in skins. Wether these are from pve bosses, gem store, gold, dungeons, it really is a part of the game people enjoy. Getting that unique character look. Costumes seem to go against this, and for events like xmas and dragonbash I can understand, but for a random armour getting locked into a costume is showing a continuing bad trend.

The main feature of the Boss Blitz is that you have to burn them down more or less simultaneously. Which means you can’t have one zerg going boss to boss — you must split up with a certain minimum number of people at each boss. That’s fine. No problem with that.

The problem is Boss upscaling means there’s a threshold where you can have too many people at a boss (the number I usually see is 15) and the boss becomes much stronger/tougher. If you pass that number, you’re likely hurting the team rather than helping. This leads to map chat GTFO wars.

Ideally, scaling should be done so that if a player has the same skill level as the average skill of the group, then the boss is killed in the same amount of time with or without that player. What we have now is way too far from the ideal, IMO.

Is it just me that is getting this, the main problem for me is that I was expecting to be able to get exp from mobs and in preparation popped a birthday booster and now it’s completely worthless?? Is there anyway I could get reinbursed (A new booster and remove the buff I have?) Why ArenaNet? I can understand nerfing the drops and exp, but taking them away completely is a huge mistake and has angered lots of players including myself. This kind of thing is why alot of people have left the game. It was a huge mistake to completely remove the rewards! Because of this alot of players wont participate in the content more than once or twice as why grind for no reward?

i’m really disappointed about this, what’s the point to create a very good new reward tracks system if you don’t add new reward tracks with the new patch?

There is really no sense. In PvE you put a lot of old meta rewards, so why you didn’t add the chance to get these rewards in pvp too with the new reward system?

Really guys, it’s really really sad how little attention you put in spvp, huge potential but incredibly wasted.

[Suggestion] Achievement Skins Unlocked in the Wardrobe

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Unlock-Past-Achievement-Skins

It’s a common issue.

That kind of is your loss. Save everything. If you are going to to switch skins, you either de-transmutate the Living Story Skin so you have it or you just remake the entire armor piece and then add the skin you want onto the new one.

If you are lacking storage space, you either make mules or buy more bank tabs. If that is being filled up, then you need to question on what is important to you and what is not. Obviously other things were more important to you at the time, so you stuck with those things and now you are posting on the forums with regrets. Sure, we can all sit around and type “Yeah, we totally agree” but at the end of the day nothing is going to change and you just are kind of out of luck. Sorry.

There are always people who see these threads and want to be mean about it … but I agree with the OP. I think the old system was very bad and it forced us to make decisions that were not entirely fair, and which players today do not face. Anet should help give us a clean slate by just giving us the old achievement skins we earned. They are still showing in our Achievements pane as being earned, so it would be easy to keep it fair. Like … extremely easy, I imagine. Even if you don’t think this is necessary, I don’t see why you’d go out of your way to argue against it in such a punishing way—unless you really need to feel superior (and this is an MMO forum, after all).

Re-awarding these skins to the people who have demonstrably already earned them would make it so that all achievement skins were like the Zenith, Hellfire, and Radiant skins—the way they should have been from the beginning. This is, after all, the way that all skins are now, whether earned through achievements, bought, or found. Anet obviously thought the old system was bad. That’s why it was replaced. We’re just asking for Anet to consider helping with the damage that occurred under the old system.

If players want to champ train around queensdale, I got nothing against it. If they can stand being bored to tears for the pittance loot the champs give now (I’m sure ANet will just reduce the loot even further soon) then so be it.

Have fun, but as for me I would rather watch paint dry in a cold room.

So now we’re redesigning the thief entirely, not entirely actually, just 75% of the way.

Feel free to continue to provide feedback, just know that the effort it will take to do this work would be implemented with an expansion at the earliest. Hopefully not ever, as the thief is one of the professions that needs a redesign the least, I’d rather see that time go into Ranger, Elementalist, and Necromancer.

I disagree. Thieves needs the most overhaul. If you look at our current weapon set, we have the least amount of sets to choose from. We don’t have a range weapon with 1200 range. D/D and P/P weapon set needs to be remade. Most of our traits are crap. Our current weapon set encourages mind-numbing skill spamming…the list goes on.

Putting the timer on other profession is pointless since they already have cooldowns.

P/P I wouldn’t call not viable. Combine it with Ambush it’s a solid weapon set to have, it’s just not found a place with a meta secondary weapon set yet. I don’t like the way that P/P plays, but it doesn’t need remade. I would like to Body Shot redone and potentially tweaks to Unload, but that only impacts 2 weapon sets not the whole thief.

D/D not being viable doesn’t justify a complete remake of the thief either. Death Blossom and Dancing Dagger just need revamps, which won’t affect any other weapon set other than S/D because of Dancing Dagger.

As far as a thief having a 1200 range weapon, I disagree that it needs one. Thief has ports, which makes up for the range disadvantage. If you really want to get first strike every time regardless of range you can grab Long Reach, or chain an Infiltrator’s Skill with steal.

Thief traits are in a solid place if you ask me:

  • Deadly Arts line is fantastic. All the minor traits are useful. There’s only two bad Major traits that should never see use, and they’re in the adept line (II & V).
  • Critical Strikes is another great line. All minor traits useful. Again only two bad Major Traits imo that should never see use (IX & XI)
  • Shadow Arts is solid. People complain about it all the time, because of WvW. Last Refuge is bad imo, for PvP. Like all defensive lines on any non-bunker professions though, I would rarely use any of these traits.
  • Acrobatics is solid too. The only trait that I feel people shouldn’t ever use from it is Assassin’s Reward.
  • Trickery is solid as well. IMO Initial Strike and Merciful should never be used.

In summary of the trait line though, they’re good.

The only work that I’d like to see done to the thief is, on D/D and P/P for the 3/4 and 2/3 skills respectively.

Other than that, the profession is in a solid place.

Hello!

So I wanted to weigh in with my perspective on the state of affairs with sPvP and tPvP. To give background: I played gw2 for about 4-6 months straight from early release and quit until about 3 weeks ago. I originally played gw1 and loved the hell out of that game, esp the extensive PvP that was offered. I play nearly everything in the game, but the ratio from PvE/PvP is 20/80.

The reason I quit GW2 was because of the sPvP (or lack thereof). I planned on coming back after a couple months when the pvp has some fresh new game modes.. But, as you may expect, there was nothing notable in the news to bring me back. Around the same time I left the game many of friends and guild mates slowed their play or quit all together because of similar reasons as me. Then after months and MONTHS of waiting for some pvp diversity, my friend posted something from your FB that stated “New pvp mode.. courtyard (essentially tdm)”; I couldn’t be happier.. I joined up soon after I heard the news, and have been playing every day since, without regret. So with that introduction, here’s my perspective about the good, bad, and … well ideas of future updates.

Love:

  • sPvP incentives, trash loot? Sometimes sure, but to me there’s something gratifying about opening up a bag at the end of a match.. A sort of “I EARNED THIS” mentality.
  • Reward scaling. Your magic find system is awesome. Many argue that it doesn’t actually effect drops. I strongly disagree by experience, but regardless, seeing the higher numbers. gives me a sense of accomplishment, and gives trash loot purpose. Great job!
  • sPvP Rank track. Dude! AMAZING. I have to say I was skeptical and weirded out about the idea of making dungeon loot also a PvP drop, you guys implemented it great! Its difficult, but rewarding, exactly what you would ask for in a PvP accomplishment. Probably one of my favorite changes.
  • WvW Ranking. I realize this is sPvP, but I just wanted to give a shout out to the people who made this happen.. Giving scale to WvW gives purpose to play it every now and then, and introduces many noobies to the idea of PvP. Noobies, consequently, that I train my new builds on.
  • Courtyard. My favorite addition since the game started. Is it perfect? Kittens no. But its the biggest step I’ve seen in sPvP history taken, the move away from mindless cap matches. The formation of the map is awesome because its really simple. From my perspective, simple is best. While places like skyhammer is an example of over complexity, and its negatives(balancing, difficulty for new players), Courtyard is a great example of simplicity.
  • PvP skins. I hated it at first, but I gotta say, adding PvE skins to PvP has converted a friend of mine over to play PvP a bit more, and adds some diversity in the look of people.

Hate:

  • Bad Rank Chests. Whats up with that? Give me a couple rares, a minipet, and call it a day, I’m not asking for much, just better than what we get.
  • Bad Tournament Maps. Some maps are awful for SingleQ tournament, Skyhammer is the most quotable one, and rightfully so. I doubt you guys would want people to have to change their build depending on the map ever time because KD is better at x, or stability is better at y, its a pain to do and it takes 0 skill.
  • Community attention. Real talk, I think it needs some work. Send out weekly questionnaires, get some focus groups running (see Eve Online)! There is no need for this huge animosity towards the PvP devs because of the perception of you guys being uncaring.. You guys say you care about what the community wants, but I’m curious to how many people believe that. If you add in focus groups and questionnaires this’ll add labor with no additional costs, help you pump out content faster, and REALLY help your public image.
  • Game modes. Okay we’re at 2… Seriously, keep it coming.

Additional Improvement Requests:

  • More achievement scaling. You guys did great with the rank tiers and magic find.. But adding further would only help give people a sense of accomplishment. Make the rank trains improve as you complete them.. Give a scalable titles for each tier (something you can show off). Simple additions that should add a lot of depth to the train system..
  • sPvP specific gear. I know its taboo to compare to two.. But why is it that you got hundreds of exclusive skins from doing dungeons (previously), but PvP had zero? Add more skins! But make it very difficult to achieve each one! This would add a HUGE incentive to sPvP, and it would finally make sPvPers feel special for once. Seriously, I feel like the red headed step child. Give us some love! Give us some exclusive content!
  • Tournament Announcements. You know that message that pops up to tell everyone about the server resets? Do that for a League Tournament, and make the tournament view a click away. Hell announce the teams while they fight. This would not only introduce PvP to newer players, but it’ll do amazing strides for the community.
  • Guild Halls. I know you guys have your ‘artistic integrity’ and like to keep your game progression running in a certain direction.. But believe me.. Building a strong guild system is IMPERATIVE to people being loyal to your game. And there is nothing better then having your own guild hall. Hands down my favorite memory in GW1 was me (as a guild leader) talking to another guild leader to form an alliance while watching GvG matches.. Every single fan wants this, I promise. Please give it to them.
  • Factions. Like GW1.. That’s more of a preference, but I loved gw1 AB.. I hope it returns? Would be neato. Especially if it’s luxon vs kurzick again. (Although, I think you guys killed off Luxons. Kittens.)

Conclusion. I LOVE THE CHANGES! I mean, it took you guys a horrendous amount of time to actually listen to your PvP players.. But you guys gave an amazing update and I seriously commend you for it. In my opinion, this game is the best MMO out there, and while I can understand why some people dislike it.. Its obvious that with a few steps forward in the right direction, it would be impossible to hate Guild Wars 2.

So in the likely event that the devs don’t answer, what do you guys think? Anything to add, anything to disagree with?

Season 2: Scarlet Returns?!?!

in Living World

Posted by: Test.8734

Test.8734

Hi guys! What kind of EPIC and fun CONTENT do you guys think ArenaNet will GIFT us with in season 2 of the Living World? :DDDDDD

I would like to show my FULL predictions for the exciting MONTHS ahead:

SEASON 2: SCARLET RETURNS!

By POPULAR demand… She’s BAAAAAAACK! Not even death ITSELF is enough to stop Scarlet! She now returns as QUEEN of the Underworld, ready to once AGAIN stomp through all of Tyria!

Release 01: multiple PORTALS to the Underworld begin appearing all over the map. Players have to interact and do the FINISHER animation on them (but remember, due to how STOMPING works, only one player gets credit for each portal finished! Get stomping!). Meanwhile, an EPIC blog post on the Guild Wars 2 website explains how Scarlet took CONTROL of the Underworld and is not using the former god MENZIES as her trusted minion. Using a Finisher on 1.000 portals is enough to finish this release’s ACHIEVEMENT, which gives part 1 of the MYSTERIOUS Treasure, a fun and exciting reward for those who follow the entire season! :D

Release 02: two months later, because ArenaNet needs TIME to make content THIS exciting! Marjorie, Kasmeer, Rox, Braham and Taimi make a plan to ENTER the Underworld and bring the FIGHT to Scarlet! Meanwhile, the portals CONTINUE to grow and now they’re spilling HORDES of shades and ataaxes! Every 15 to 30 minutes, Scarlet’s LAUGHTER is heard in all maps across the ENTIRE game. Every two hours, a RANDOM map is filled with MORE portals, and players need to hurry to close them all within the time LIMIT – but hurry, because time is SHORT! Plus, the longer people stay in a portal, the HARDER the enemies that will appear from it, so those who stay too long would find themselves against LOTS and LOTS of CHAMPIONS D: D: D: Successfully defending against 100 invasions finishes this RELEASES’ achievement, giving part 2 of the epic and exciting Mysterious TREASURE!

Release 03: for the NEXT two months, Marjorie and friends ENTER the Underworld! The player CHARACTERS stay behind to deal with the mess, and what a mess it IS! Portals through all of TYRIA begin spilling debris, because the WORLD map needs more RUBBLE! Characters have to defeat all foes at every incursion point and perform CLEANING animations, but the RUBBLE won’t completely go away – this is an EXCITING entirely new and PERMANENT content to the game!!! Meanwhile, a new GREAT blog post in the Guild Wars 2 website will describe Marjorie and friends’ adventures through the alien and beautiful LANDSCAPE of the Underworld! Performing the cleaning JUST ten thousand times will unlock the achievement and grant the next treasure PART!

Release 04: the SHADOW Behemoth RISES! For this release, the Shadow Behemoth will be UPDATED to become a REAL challenge for REAL men DDDDD: 10 times more EPIC, 1.000 times more healthy POINTS, 100.000 times more FUN! The boss’ health will be dramatically increased, and players will be expected to capture portals across the entirety of Queensdale in order to be able to make the Behemoth VULNERABLE to damage. With at least 20 portals per map and the requirement for at least FIVE players to stay within the capture rings SIMULTANEOUSLY, this will guarantee fun for at least A HUNDRED guild members! But remember, by the time you run from the portals to the Behemoth it will be invulnerable again, so better get a few more FRIENDS there! Those who actually manage to DAMAGE the Shadow Behemoth will have a chance to get ASCENDED items reskins; doing it 100 TIMES will finish this release’s achievement and give the SECOND to LAST Mysterious Treasure fragment! Almost there!

Release 05: SHOCKING NEWS! Marjorie and friends returns from the Underworld saying that Scarlet is actually one of the GOOD GUYS DDDDD: The sleeping dragons are eating MAGIC, so they have to be awakened in order to be DEFEATED and save the WORLD (previous lore saying otherwise was SIMPLY wrong!). Players have to defend a HUGE ritual CIRCLE in the Gendaran Fields as Marjorie summons SCARLET back to TYRIA! Meanwhile, MALCONTENT citizens will foolishly try to stop the ritual, and they have to be put down by the player characters! Those citizens says thing like “We have Scarlet!”, “The ectos are dropping less often!” and “We want MATCH-UP topics!”, because META humor is so much FUN! After doing this 50 times, the ACHIEVEMENT will be unlocked, the LAST part of the MYSTERIOUS Treasure will be AWARDED! And, even better, SCARLET will finally return to the land of the living, radiating all the POWER and GRACE of a GOD! But the fight will have PERMANENT consequences! In the following explosion of mystical energies, our characters will be hurt and become PERMANENTLY mute! This is a NEW development that will continue in Guild Wars 2 FOREVER!

All in game reports are read and acted upon, we have GM’s that literally just sit there and watch “velocity reports” (named as such due to the speed of the reports being made). As you might guess there are generally a significant amount of these reports happening at any given moment and due to this we cannot respond to them.

Obviously we need to investigate all claims that come in and then action them if we have proof (chat logs etc.), there is a strict disciplinary structure that is followed and players that are found to be breaking this code of conduct are dealt with accordingly.

I hope this answers your question

Since the patch lots of people went to PvP. They’re mostly new comers.

The problem is not pairing, low skill levels, queues or whatever. It’s how “elite” players react.

There’s not been a single game without some troll with toxic attitude. I had to turn off chat because I got so frustrated with all the comments.

New players will learn how sPvP work if you help them! Not if you insult them.

Read what the dev said here : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Appropriate-Pairing Same as I did.

“That said, there has been a huge influx of new players, and this is likely what you are noticing. They are likely going to need some time to learn the ropes and figure out how to play. May I suggest taking a patient, mentoring approach?”

And people who are trying PvP and don’t like it will leave in a few weeks. Other players will understand the game better.

We play this game for fun. If you don’t enjoy it at least don’t pester us with it. You can always go play any other game, and there’s plenty of them.

Marketing GW2

PeskyJNixon.8236

Good morning fine GW2 fans and ArenaNET people (at least its morning where I am). I am groggily writing this as I recuperate after three long days at the Penny Arcade Expo in Boston. It was a great time! But onto the crux of the conversation I want to start.

Where the heck is GW2’s marketing department? Why are they not pushing this game outside of strictly GW2 markets? I’m talking about representing themselves at community events (PAXEast and other game conventions) and online outside of specifically GW2 communities (MMO Champion as an example).

At PAX I spend most of the convention just talking to people primarily because my wife works in the industry so I tend to support her at panels and doing some husband as forklift jobs while she’s doing interviews with devs and folks. I spoke to dozens of complete strangers about what games they play and what they thought of the MMO scene in general (given that really there is only Wildstar and Everquest NEXT in the AAA queue which is a little scary after years of having something new to look forward to). No one mentioned GW2 and when I brought it up the reaction I got from a lot of people was a shaked head followed by “Its sad that it failed”. When I explained that economically the game is actually doing quite well and has delivered content more regularly than any MMO I am aware of I was universally met with disbelief – the average MMO player seems to equate GW2 with SWOTOR and Warhammer Online (as games that have ceased to create content outside of things to buy… or simply ceased being).

I’ve gone to PAX for four years. Outside of the PAX prior to release, ArenaNET has never really been active at the convention and even then it was just on the panels, never with a booth. This year apparently Jon and Colin were onsite but they had a room completely separate from the convention (it was in the adjacent hotel) and it was for Press only.

GW2 is a great game. I’ve been playing MMO’s for over a decade and GW2 is the first that I really just fell in love with. I play everyday, I play PvE and WvW and ever so occasionally sPvP (although I have begun watching the tournament and those are really fun). There is so much content within the game! I honestly believe that even a modest booth with a game play demo would have resulting in hundreds of game sales. Heck, there was a THREE HOUR wait at the Microsoft Booth to play Killzone on the Xbox One. That game has been out for six months and I think it would be hard to argue that their level of content has increased even at a fractional level where GW2 has a year worth of bi-weekly updates and a movie that summarizes new content and changes!

Your forum community managers are superb. Your game and design are impeccable (not to say improvements can’t be made, but you tend to make them). But its time for ArenaNET or NCSoft to reach out to top notch professional marketing teams that can trot the product around (the less said about the live action GW2 commercial from just post launch the better).

Next year at PAXEast make sure you have a presence. Look at Bioware’s model, this year they didn’t have their booths and didn’t have high profile panels, but they did setup their own room in the convention hall and have trailers for their games past and present rolling, writers, devs, and community managers available to talk to fans and I think they are going to walk away with a lot of both awareness and good will.

If this weekend was any indication, the greater community seems to have forgotten that your game exists, do not let them. I’m writing this as someone who is VERY invested in your game, world, and future prosperity.

I see why I stopped playing; Concerns

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Soap.6124

I haven’t played GW2 for nearly a year now.

I thoroughly enjoyed most of the game; I have a couple 80’s and some fairly high PvP-rank characters. Very close to world completion, high level crafting skills, etc.

I decided to see how the game has come in the past months and fired it up again; after a large amount of patching, a good bit of nostalgia, and a couple of hours, I found myself in a state of déjà vu; I got that same feeling of “there’s really nothing to do” again.

How could this be? Months of content and patches being added but still there’s seemingly nothing to do.

Well, it got me thinking. I really like the structure of the game; it’s got a ton of potential and the ANet team seems very proactive when it comes to their game. It’s just a matter of direction, if you ask me.

Here’s some of my concerns, take them for what they are; I’m sure many people agree as well as disagree and think I’m an idiot.

• The loot isn’t fun. There’s very little variation when it comes to items, besides aesthetics. While leveling up this isn’t too much of an issue, it kind of dulls the experience at max level. Sure, I don’t have full Ascended gear, but I’m also not very compelled to put a ridiculous amount of time and effort into getting them due to one, these items don’t really have a meaningful impact on gameplay, and two, there’s no gameplay that really merits them.

• Nobody really does dungeons; they skip them. If people are going out of their way to skip content, don’t you think there might be something wrong with the content? Most dungeons contain too much filler and lack real “loot” for your efforts; that doesn’t create a challenging, rewarding, nor immersing dungeon experience.

• Build diversity and overall balance could be much better. Nowadays, it seems like nobody likes you unless you’re full Berserker, using your classes “best” weapon. Doesn’t that seem a little strange to anyone? If balancing between PvE and PvP is difficult, why not just balance them separately?

• World events should be more… worldly. Off the top of my head, one of my favorite world events is when that huge Giant runs over that low-level Charr town in one of their zones. I like that event because there’s repercussions for not dealing with him; your town is pretty much useless. What good are world events that really don’t have any weight within the world around them? Would be pretty fun if towns getting attacked was more of a regular thing; it makes the world seem more dangerous.

Living story content is great and all, but shouldn’t the focus be on content that’s fun and repayable? I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather see:

? Added a new zone where players fight the native clans for control over rare, natural resources!
- Rare and bountiful resources that appear randomly throughout the map are guarded by powerful monsters!
- Monsters periodically assault player hubs; the attacks never stop!

Than…

? Some kitten with a giant robot spawned in the middle of the mountains somewhere; go kill it if you’re bored and looking for somthing to do.
