Oh come on.

If my 10 year old brother who never touched GW2 before managed to beat it, you can too.

…Which really should tell you how little the twitch-fest timed JP’s have to do with 99% of Guildwars 2 gameplay.

What does pressing your space properly has to do with Guild wars 2 gameplay? Jumping puzzles in any game have nothing to do with ingame gameplay…

I would like to go on record saying I disagree with OP vehemently. The winter JP is a perfect difficulty. Probably a 5 on a 1-10 scale. If you can complete it once, completing it 3x is a piece of cake.

Just be patient. Getting frustrated is normal when you don’t succeed, but that’s not a good enough reason to remove it. The human race wouldn’t be where it is today if we didn’t feel that frustration on failing and causing us to strive to succeed even more. It’s a motivator!

I agree with this. After getting into the groove (and failing maybe 20 times) I managed to clear it 3 times in a row. It’s muscle memory. It’s worth noting that all three successes were after turning the game off for a couple of hours and going back to it after resting on it.

It’s nice that a 10 year old can do this jumping puzzle…. did you know that children can learn languages far easier than adults? In fact, studies have shown that your average child can easily become polylingual. In contrast, most people over the age of 25 who have never learned more than one language usually have great difficulty trying to learn another.

Did Luciano Pavarotti try to win a weight lifting competition? Did Bruce Lee try to sing opera? Did Muhammad Ali try to win a Nobel prize? Did the Terminator EVER get John Connor? The answer to all of these Is NO.

And for me, Jumping Puzzles are the great NO. I went and checked… I have completed TWENTY-SIX OF THE FORTY-FIVE POSSIBLE jumping puzzles in the game. I have been playing GW2 for about TWO AND A HALF YEARS. And again, I have NEVER got past the bloody melting snowflakes in the Winter JP. NEVER. Not this year, not LAST year, NOT the year before.

Kudos to all of you that are jumping masters. Good for you. Given my personal experience, I find it REALLY hard to believe that ANYONE could complete this puzzle, MUCH less do it in THREE MINUTES. Must be nice to have a Black Belt in Jumping Insanity.

All I want is an alternative. Change the requirement in the collection. Or make a puzzle that us over 40 types can actually DO.

As a mature gamer, I appreciate intellectual puzzles instead of the Nintendoesque kiddie games they seems bent on pursuing. The lack of connect between the content and the lore widens every update. It appears the game is moving towards attracting and capturing the loose wallets of the more immature gamer than the more mature clientelle from previous versions of the game and previous iteration. It is unfortunate for me to see the world devolve into fractioned pieces that do not interact or meld in any way to previous lore.
For instance, Legendary Weapons, has anyone heard of them before or during GW1 or GW2? Hmmm. Food for thought and just my humble opinion.

Start to solo/duo with AC and CM Story , i’ve done it on every class in any possible ways. Including Necro Minions Master and even a Ranger Axe/Axe – Sword-Torch ( No bearbow ) Thief Dual P/P is doable just be sure to include Pistol Mastery , Ankle shot and Ricochet traits in your build. Practice a lot Good luck

Try SEp1 for soloing/duoing. It’s a good starter dungeon because all of the bosses are satisfied to be at range and thus don’t move. Plus, it has only one legendary boss, which makes it less tedious. It’s actually a really fun dungeon when played solo/duo; with 5 people, it’s a bit too faceroll.

If you insist on playing minion master + P/P thief, the dungeon may take some time to finish — but try it anyway. The second boss (Nokk) and the three golems before Tazza are going to be really kitten your minions — the golems will pretty much instantly kill all your minions.

I know you explicitly asked ‘What are the easiest dungeons to complete solo or with a partner?’ but later you also said ‘Because my skills are not that great is why i want to practice …’. So:

I suggest that you practice Arah path 2. Even if you don’t make it very far, it’s still good practice.

If you need some hints, there are now a lot of good videos of soloing arah. I think the original was by Wethospu (I may be wrong – others may have posted solo runs earlier than him):

Also check this thread for more vids with fx thief or necro:

Doing dungeons solo means a lot of skipping and this is something you don’t like doing.

Imo play more with pugs. Don’t worry, there should still be plenty of them who don’t los mobs or wipe doing that. You can also, as someone suggested, start your own- "no los, no skipping group"- try it, imo you will find people (some will probably not read description but it’s a different matter xD).

And build at least 1 of your characters according to meta- you will be more useful, you will have easier time and maybe you will like it ( soloing is done on zerker gear, traited for damage otherwise it takes too long to beat anything).

You can totally get groups to do runs which clear rooms rather than skip. Its still practiced and someone should be calling out targets to focus but its makes the dungeons more fun in my opinion. Many guildies agree and we do it all the time. Redkat, look us up on Tarnished Coast.

Because my skills are not that great is why i want to practice dungeons solo or with my partner, and not ruin the rest of the group’s experience. I can kill many champions solo on pve and its fun, so im not that bad.

Thanks for the Arah P2 suggestion ill try that even if it takes me 3 days. Do i need to do Arah P1 first or something?

You need 4 people in Arah p1 at a certain point. And no, you don’t have to do them in any particular order.

You could try AC path 3, but you’ll have a tough time at the burrows unless your buddy is an ele, even then it’ll still be tough. Maybe a low level Snowblind fractal. Besides p2, Arah p3 is pretty easy duo until the end.

If you’re not experienced in dungeons I think you’ll have a rude awakening as to how unforgiving they can be. The videos make it look easy because we have over a year of built up tactics and experience, and they are very easy with proven tactics and builds. Coming in brand new and trying to solo/duo, while admiral, is going to be either a very time consuming endeavor, or a quick fail learning experience. Good luck sir!

What are the easiest dungeons to complete solo or with a partner?

I want to experience and enjoy the content and adventure of a dungeon. My first three dungeon runs with a group of five (all very friendly and nice guildies) were all about speed runs and boss stacking; a huge disappointment despite the great fast loot.

As luck will have it my two 80 characters are a Necro minion master and a Thief P/P, which i have read are the worst to bring to dungeons.

So any dungeons i can try to complete with those classes and average-poor playing skill?

Boost Enchantment Powder - what it does

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Southern.8973

Southern.8973

So what happens is, when you USE one, it converts an existing boost in your inventory (such as a Strength Booster) into a “Enchanted Combat Boost”.

The “Enchanted Combat Boost” can be one of 4 types:

Strength Booster
Speed Booster
Armor Booster
Rejuvenation Booster

Another type is a Enchanted Reward Booster; it takes the following boosts and combines them into a single booster type:

Experience Booster
Magic Find Booster
Crafting Booster
Karma Booster
Gathering Booster

This basically allows you to stack different booster types in one inventory slot. When you use the “Enhanced Combat Booster”, or “Enchanted Reward Booster” you pick which boost you want and it imbues you with it directly.

So the Powder doesn’t really do anything by itself; you have to use it to turn your old/existing boosters into the new “combo” type boosters, which saves on inventory slots.

any word on what they may or may not do for those who already own all the dyes? I havent been keeping track, so hoping something might get discussed here.

Another person picked a Zephyite dye and sold it. The wiki says that the Zephyite dyes are not account bound.

Oh and in answer to your other question it’s not tied to your account – each enemy and each chest, bag etc. has it’s own loot table and that’s what the RNG is working off. You won’t ever get a precursor from a level 1 Bandit for example because it’s just not in the loot table.

But your account Magic Find can affect it – increasing your chance of getting higher rarity items.

I’m not sure how it works in GW2 exactly but this is an example of how it works in many other games:

Each monster has a loot table – a list of all the items it can drop. In order to give it some variety so you’re not always getting the same things and so they can make certain items rarer than others it’s determined on a kind of lottery system.

So say there’s 10 items that monster can drop. You could assign each one a number from 1-10 and then generate a random number between 1 and 10 to decide which one the player gets. If you want them all to be equally likely that’s fine and might well happen.

Or you can assign them numbers between 1 and 100. If you want one to have a 25% drop rate you can assign it 25 numbers. If you want one to have a 5% drop rate you assign it just 5 numbers. And so on. Then you generate a random number between 1 and 100 and the player gets whichever item that number corresponds to.

In games with limited memory the actual random number generator can be as simple as a pre-programmed string of numbers with no discernible pattern which the game works it’s way along every time it needs to make something happen ‘randomly’. In games that can afford the memory it can be an actual sub-program that generates numbers randomly on demand.

Of course it can’t ever be completely random because it’s determined by a computer. But the important thing is it’s not progressing according to any mathematical pattern so even if you know the loot table and the numbers assigned to each item you can’t guess or manipulate what you’ll get.

I don’t like the Electro Blue – it’s just too intense (same with the other Electro dyes).

I’m still deciding but am more tempted to get one of the Glint’s dyes.

Is it worth ignoring prices in this case and getting the colour you want (assuming it costs at least more than a few gold), or is it better to use the opportunity to buy what is currently expensive?

How is this even a question? Do you seriously need advice on whether to get something you want or something you don’t want that’s expensive? Get what you want.

Compiled from another gw2 forum before these came online, but some real gems in here

1. Purchase your gathering items asap. That’s a pick, an axe and a sickle that only cost a few copper and allow you to loot resource nodes.
2. There’s an option “melee targeting assistance” or similar that prohibits you from walking through enemies. It might be better to turn it off, depending on your preference.
3. Type in “/wiki” to open the GW2 wiki.
4. When playing on a foreign client you can instantly translate any game-text into English by pressing the right Ctrl button.
5. You can edit your own music into the game and have it play during different times as explained here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/c..._music_in_gw2/
6. Press the Cogwheel top right corner of your inventory
Press Deposit all collectibles to put all crafting materials into the bank. (which later can be accessed from the crafting UI from a workstation)
7. Press hide/show bags to make the inventory window into one big bag insted of seperate bags
8. Also, finish a zone 100% to get nice masterwork (green) loot and a black lion key. (all hearts, points of interrest, vistas and waypoints
9. Don’t delete your first character without first sending your backpack, goggles to your new char
10. After you finish a ? quest, go to the ? guy and check for gear upgrades, they usually sell great stuff
11. Be sure to save 10 silver for when you hit level 11, as you have to buy access to your traits
12. Don’t buy violet weapons from vendor in the Mists, it has no dps (its probably for WvWvW). Buy exotic orange weapons.
13. Trebuchet on Battle of Kyhlo is op, it deals 9-11k aoe dmg and you can rush it from start and shoot before enemies take first base (windmill/mansion).
14. Cannon on beach map can be used, you just need to carry cannonballs from nearby ship. It deals 5k aoe dmg and you can shoot both beach and docks with it )
15. Never run away once you’ve completed a Dynamic Event. Try to talk to the NPC’s around you are try to follow any of the conversations NPC’s may have. There may just be one or more events coming up within a minute or 2
16. The mails u receive when u complete a heart are not just mails….take the money inside
17. If you see a resource node don’t rush to it only you can mine it.
18. - you can join the Heart of the Mist by going in Hero – PvP – click Heart of the Mist icon in the top left
19. You can travel to every Capitals by going to Lion’s Arch (take the Asura Portal in any Capital)
20. You have the option “sell junk” in your bags (in the bottom right), it will automatically sell all useless non-salvageable crap.
21. Keybind your weapon swap (as a matter of fact, I suggest to keybind everything
22. I suggest to turn ON auto loot in the options (you just spam “F” when you zerg instead of looting every corpse)
23. You can adjust your mouse turning speed with the slider in the options.
24. EXPLORE EVERYTHING. I found an awesome jumping puzzle yesterday in Lion’s Arch. A dead pirate was messing with me all the time.
25. #1 ability is your auto-attack, so you don’t need to keep spamming it like I did…
26. Adjust your Camera rotation speed to very high to remove that sluggish feeling when you mouse turn
27. You don’t need the bank to access your bank items. Any crafting stations come with bank slots.
28. There are no mail boxes. You can send items away with a right-click, and collect them through upper menu bar.
29. There is a range indicator on your abilities. There’s a red bar below the skill if you’re out of range.
30. You can do every single crafting profession in the game. You can have two active at a time. It costs some coin to switch them out and the fee depends on how many recipes you have. You don’t lose the recipes you have when you switch.
31. DON’T pass up on a harvesting spot. It literally takes 2 seconds, it’s free XP, and you never know if you’ll want to take up a profession that uses it later… you can also sell the raw mats when the TP is up.
32. If you’re getting into areas with mobs that are too difficult, but you’ve done all the other events in that zone (happened to me around level 20), check out the other races’ areas! You get scaled down to match the levels in those zones and can do all of their quests and events while still earning XP and Gear to match your own level!
33. you don’t need to be there when an event ends in order to get credit for it..
34. stick around after a dynamic event, some npc’s turn into karma vendors, (just like haert vendors often do)
35. if you’re being chased by a ranged monster, you can use another monster(a neutral one like a boar would work well) to block the bullets, thereby angering the neutral monster and causing a fight between the two, letting you escape more easily
36. You can redye your armor on your hero page absolutely free.
37. You can /kneel in front of statues and idols to receive some short-term boons.

Best ways to make gold?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ozmaniandevil.6805

ozmaniandevil.6805

You don’t need to play the TP to make gold in the game, but you do need to use the TP (as in, don’t sell anything to the NPC vendors – sell everything possible on the TP). Personally, the only things I do now are WvW and events in Orr. I salvage and sell everything, except rares or exotics, which I simply sell on the TP since the rate of getting ectos out of those is abysmal. You could also do the Frostgorge Sound champ train.

Some people who have thousands of gold made and sold legendaries or got lucky with precursor drops or bought the special BL weapon skins and then sat on them until they went up in price, or yes, many people play TP Wars. Heck, I’m sure some get out the credit card and buy gems to convert to gold.

Do what makes you happy and enjoy playing the game. That’s what matters most.

RP in a MMO

Basically RP goes like this.

1. You’ve created your own story that you want everyone to care about.
2. Everyone else has done the same, and they want you to care about their stories.
3. You try to earn brownie points by pretending you care about their stories, or by throwing in game lore.
4. Nobody really listens to your story because they are too busy waiting for the next chance to jump in with their own.
5. You find you’re doing the same thing.

Otherwise there’s nothing icky about it. The hatred and ignorance toward it is completely uncalled for.

Alternately, you and one or more people have collaborated on a story and are writing the details as a sort of “improv” exercise. You are amazed at how well the others portray their characters and are interested in what motivates those characters. You enjoy building a story together.

There are actually a few locations in Flame Legion or Nightmare Court territory where you’re relatively safe. But you’re right, they’re few and far between.

RP in an MMO will never extend to the same detail and complexity that you can get in tabletop or DM’ed games like in Neverwinter Nights, but it’s still fun. It’s more about the stories and relationships you cultivate with other players.

Throw prestige out the window.

If I see an item I think would go good with my character’s set, I’d like to be able to work to obtain it. If you really want prestige, make it a challenge, just don’t make anything limited-time-only.

There’s hundreds of people who have the horns/halo from the battle of Lion’s Arch, I don’t. I personally don’t look up to them or down on them. They just happened to be playing while I took a break.
