Zelyhn is a well educated frenchie. Well educated frenchies are like canadians if it comes to being polite.

One with Air should be Air 5 minor trait.

evasive arcana is one of the most fun traits in the game
Sorry dude, Evasive arcana WAS the most fun trait ingame, before it was nerfed to the 15 trait point level…..
Edit: It would be good like this, but only if the other traits and skills are on par with other classes.
Evasive Arcana was the only reason to go 30 arcane pre-nerf, because it allowed us to be at least as effective as others, at the cost of our endurance, but this was something we could live with.

Just wondering, what do you actually want from the Elementalist?
Definitely not this:
No way I’m going to play a build which is about spamming one skill.
That build is okay for stacking blast finishers but the damage is only average. You might as well just run something like S/F with LH if you want to use blast finishers that badly.
One dimensional thinking.
Tried running Zelyhn’s build in AC last night without Lightning Hammer, and I have to say, I kind of like it. The damage is pretty good, and the fact that you can blast your way to 25 might stacks at the start of a fight anyway makes the lack of the 2 blasts in Fire not even that big of a deal.
I’m so sick of spamming 1 on Lightning Hammer that the slight drop in DPS doesn’t even matter to me, I think the build is more fun to run.

The term DPS is always going to be talking about pve because you can’t measure that quantity in pvp, pvp is not a controlled environment because there are too many variables.
Skill previews, condi damage floaters, and ground targeting have great quailty of life improvements.
Eles got:
Earth shield changed as previous, still useless
Staff Water 3 now has a larger radius
Staff earth 4 acts like a very short line of warding (3s) on a 30s CD
Staff fire 1 now increases radius with blasting staff
Trait “One with air” now gives 1.5s of “superspeed” (100% in-combat run speed, roughly the same as ooc swiftness) on swap to air, yourself only (note this is still useless as it just over-writes your swiftness from elemental attunement)
Moral: Play another class for another 6 months.
Edit: fixed the duration of superspeed: it is 1.5s, not 2s.

gw2 math is different to forum math, clearly!
Guardian does get better dps than warrior with max buffs. But that list is very pie in the sky and doesn’t match reality. Sw/Sw mesmer with 3 phantasms up? Let me know how often you get that going in a typical dungeon run. Necromancer with full minions? Yeah no.
Here is the rub: full buffs is hard to get. Despite the rhetoric, maintaining 25 stacks of might for over 20 seconds is somewhat difficult. 25 vuln over 20 seconds is nearly impossible without an engineer. The more rangers, necros, guardians and thieves you have in your group the more difficult these things become. The end result is with just self-buffs, or minimal support from the rest of the group, warrior dps outclasses the rest. Which is why in a pug or even a casual organized run a warrior will likely out dps the others.
Like Zelyhn said, try FA.
0 30 10 20 10 (+10% dmg)
0 30 0 30 10 (1 additonal cleanse and +x% dmg depending on how many boons you got, also Aura share works here to supplement the boon duration items you got already)
FA is really good in pve, because it frees you from being forced to fight in a low damage attunement (read: not in air) and air magic itself is the highest dps trait line (stats, VI, synergy FA/Lightning strike (15pts), I, X). On top you can utilise support skills when you actually need them (no attunement dance as you would do in other builds).
Well, why don’t you just delete the Elementalist and roll a Warrior then? If you think that super-simple means better…
I like challenge and complex class-mechanics, I’m a fan of real RPG games, not these modern simplified games which deny everything what RPG means. If I cannot have a real RPG, I want at least a class that is not about facerolling everything, smashing one button and getting good results by that.
Also, how can I explain the beauty of the Elementalists mechanic if you can’t see any difference in that, compared to the easiest class in the game?
So you just lost your arguments and turned to rhetorics? On the sidenote, ele can smash one button and get even better results than doing this on warrior. The ‘beauty’ of ele is that you work harder to get worse results and that needs to be fixed.
That’s one hell of a snowflake.
I think all the good players in this game should get a shiny gold badge above their heads that says I am a good player.
I think that would help.
I like that idea.
Nah, they should just give the best loot for zerg-farming so that there’s no incentive to improve or even actually look at the screen.
Oh wait, that’s already in the game.

I’m approaching 400, and maybe I am past that, I lost count!, (some have even more) runs in the dungeon and have even carried many people in 48’s, 38’s and 28’s. RNG or not, it is an insult to players like myself when players receive skins that are new or very inexperienced in a dungeon that takes time and a good understanding of your player and the dungeon itself (notice I didn’t use the word Skill).
Run after run after run and I have done this dungeon for a very long time. What a waste of time, what a slap in the face, what an insult to those that are good at a dungeon that never get rewarded for putting in the time.
I (and others) cannot even turn in items to swap out to the weapon skin they want. Instead when we bring this subject up in the forums out of pure concern the ArenaNet staff blasts us and locks the posts, or in my case gives me an infraction, for a legit complaint. What does that solve? A shutdown of something they do not want new players seeing all over their forums: upset hard grinding players getting slapped in the chops. (oh, and you don’t want us grinding, due to the farm zones you nerfed a while back, so what’s the difference in Fractals? It’s just a different area with the same intent)
You could at least make small changes to Fractals for those like myself who have to look at the same junk everyday a little more interesting. I don’t see why you can’t take some time aside to make some changes to the looks/bosses to keep players a bit more interested for something they are starting to despise with a passion.
I’m sorry ArenaNet: but your Dungeon is nothing, nothing different than running a dungeon in AION. Countless items I have no use for while those who hardly run the place get what they came for, and leave to never return. You could have at least provided some gel for this mess. So yes, lock/ban/screwme/infraction me for making this post. At least you read it. Whether you choose to actual do something for your players, well, that’s probably like mindless Fractal runs. You said you listen to your players, but Fractals is one area I don’t think you thoroughly have listened.
I thought you wanted GW2 to be something different. Well you have for questing, it is a unique way to level in a game, and other aspects you’ve made quite different. Boss fights are not like many games. But when I step into your Fractal it’s honestly like stepping into AION dungeons – and you don’t need a ton of replies belong to tell you how much players hated that insane mess. If you don’t want players saying “Hey, got my weapon, I’m done with Fractals!” Then put some new skins in every few months to keep the place/players active. This isn’t rocket science, which isn’t even that technical to be honest. Change up the look a tad, make the bosses a little different in reaction. Seriously, get the kitten RNG out of your game so players can actually have fun and not AIONGRIND their brain cells out.
You’ll be able to kill ppl which are AFK, does that suffice?
Edit: It’s like if you wanted to play a warrior with two and a half weapon skills, would you like that?
Kodiak would disagree
Well, he of course can, but everyone who plays Elementalist proffesion and have more braincells than teeth would disagree with him No offense to anyone.
this subforum is better than playing the game today.
Anything past 10 arcana is detrimental to dps in PvE.
inb4 ‘but you can’t do damage while you’re downed!’ baddies
“GW2’s PvE is almost as bad as the PvP.”
It is because Anet treats ascended weapons as a carrot for players to do other content. Even if the players do not actually enjoy doing the said content.
OMFFG HEAL ME INSTEAD OF THE TANK THAT’S OBVIOUSLY KEEPING THE BOSS OFF US
OMFG WHY IS THE TANK SO BAD I KEEP AGGROING BECAUSE I CAN’T MANAGE MY DPS
AAAAHHHHHH
Yeah, I totally miss that.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
No worries, I was just looking to get offended because daily crafting makes me depressed.
Haviz likes crafting, I hear. He’s dying to get some ascended weapons.

Keep the fractals and dungeons and PvP. I can live without it all. I want real time dynamic world events. As we were promised when we bought the game. Like the one time Karka Event and Scarlet Invasions. I want stuff happening in the world not instances. I want auto grouping. I want an in game event timer log so you can plan your play around what’s going to happen.
I want to be able to log on look at the schedule for the next 6 hours and say I want to do A,C and G and in between I’ll do my dailies and maybe join the zerg in Frostgorge for a while. Then I might go look into doing a bit of Adventure Box or what ever the living story is.
I DON’T want Pug Dungeons or Fractals ever as far as I’m concerned it’s a waste of my money. A bunch of 10 years fighting over who got what and who is the worst tank ever, sorry but I’m too old for that crap.
And I absolutely don’t want any specific item tied to doing dungeons or fractals. If you can get it in a Dungeon or Fractal I want it available somewhere in the big world too. Yep, I’m talking the dungeon currency and the Fractal currency too. So there. I don’t care if there is a specific skin available only in the dungeon but I don’t want a legendary weapon tied to doing a dungeon or fractal. God, The WvW was bad enough. But not as bad a pugging a dungeon. GW1 then WoW did me on dungeons, and I’ll never do on again. I don’t mine if you need them in the game to keep the dungeon players happy.

Ever heard of the condimentalist?

Zhank you for the laugh!
The technique being to equip berserker
0/10
Why are you all so stuck on the “validity” of his opinion? Don’t you even get what he’s trying to say?
@Zelyhn
I completely agree with you. My first experience doing CoE was similar and yes, it was challenging, but I learned how to overcome that challenge. Now, however, new people are getting taught how to do it via glitch and never gets a chance to learn.
And yet my full Lightning Hammer DPS build with exotic and ascended berserker gear, was killing slower in the gauntlet than most other classes.
Lightning hammer “build” relies heavily on party support to maximize damage. Without an external source of fury, might and burn it’s nothing special, hence the slow kills in gauntlet.
They don’t want elementalists to be best at anything. Mine is the best at collecting dust while I “just press 1” on my guardian. My engineer makes a much better jack-of-all-trades, so elementalists aren’t even best at being mediocre at everything…..
No, I don’t think it’s outright problematic, but, mobs in general need to quit being such brainless cattle and start navigating the playing field aside from following a player around. This game’s mechanics are really at their best when player and enemy are both in motion.
Rare chance = 2e-64.
