I was just coming here to make a thread just like this one. I love the Fractals, they feel amazing and I love their mechanics. The only one that makes me annoyed is the swamp one.
I’ve loved them all so far other than the swamp. Playing as a Charr during the invasion of Ascalon was really awesome.
Gandara
Its just very annoying and not fun. You waste a lot of time in it. All the other dungeons are brilliant
Wow. Interesting.
You came here saying Necro are OP because you found an incredibly strong build you won’t tell to anyone. Seems legit.
No! Just NO! This is a social game and this aspect should remain and be reinforced…
You don’t find someone? Join an active guild, interacts, make friends! This is what the game is supposed to be! Want to play a solo game? You are on the wrong place…
I don’t see why the game has to hand you objectives on a plate.
Look at the most popular PC game, the Sims. There is no real objective to it, once you get to $100’000 you can buy anything in the game, once you have one max level sim there is no “endgame”, you just keep playing, keep adding more families, keep building new houses. The “fun” in The Sims is not earned through gaining more and more powerful characters, it’s just from playing the game itself.
Look at the next most popular PC game, Half Life 2. There’s no “Endgame” to keep you playing after you Beat HL2. You can go back to the start and play it through again, but you won’t gain anything you didn’t gain the first time. The multi-player modes like Counter-Strike, TF2 and so on don’t reward you by making you stronger and stronger the more hours you put into the game. TF2 has cosmetic progression, but apart from that there’s no concept of “Endgame” there.
Look at the next most popular PC game, Minecraft. There is no real “endgame” to Minecraft. There’s an “End Boss” and you can level up to a degree, you can make some enchanted weapons, but after you reach a certain level of materials and power there is no constant “endgame” acheivement to keep you playing. In Minecraft, players spend hours, days, or even months creating grand structures and designs. There’s no achivement or payment in the game for creating a giant structure in Minecraft, people just do it because it’s fun.
Just because GW2 is an MMO you seem to be expecting it to hold out a shiny carrot for you to chase, and once you catch that carrot, you want it to make another, bigger, shinier carrot and dangle that slightly further away?
That’s perverse, and unnecessary.
My point is, I am foreseeing that as soon as I finish my story and clear the whole map, I won’t have any motivation to continue playing. Because I won’t get any benefit of spending hours doing any of the previous task other than visual.
So, your end game stops at lvl 80 and finishing the story. Well, GW1 is on for 7 years with a max lvl 20 and a max armor in about 10h from when you start a character. I guess there are people like you but they are only in the forums, the rest are just playing the game. Sorry man, but for a 60$ game, i think you have enough content as it is now and they will add more things in the future for sure. The game is not dieing, on contrary its growing up, but people need a bit of patience.
Noob players quit GW1 even before getting lvl 20 because they didn’t have patience enough to leave the desolated Ascalon zone- they got bored in there – but that didn’t kill the game.
If you play a game just to be rewarded, then any game isn’t for you. Games are supposed to be fun activity to relax after the school or work, not a home job which needs a payment
I would like that option. I could not follow the personal story of my character because it was forcing my character to do something against its character, but I have to see it there all the time in the corner right above when it does not interest me anymore.
Personally I’d have preferred if Destiney’s Edge had played a larger role in the personal story and not just in the dungeons. I could have easily seen them leading the pact rather than some random dry character such as Trahearne :/
Agreed – Rytlok was already proven to be a strong strategic leader. Logan makes emotional decisions though – too much Kirk, not enough Picard in that guy. But Rytlok reminds me of Patton in a way.
i agree tho that Forgal was best suited for a platoon level leadership ^^
Even though Forgal was my favourite character, and I interpreted him and my character as getting along really well in a mutually gruff and bantering way, I would agree with this too.
I actually think Forgal himself would agree. I saw no indication that he had any aspirations toward top-level leadership, or that he considered himself suited for such. It seemed to me like he was pretty much where he wanted to be, and felt that he’d reached a suitable endpoint for his career at his present level in the chain of command.
I don’t think Forgal would actually have wanted to be offered the job of Pact Marshal in the first place. I haven’t played through the OoW storyline, but from what I’ve heard from others, I can’t imagine Tybalt would have wanted the job either.
Anyone else just hate trahearne (…)
So much that if there was a options ingame to join Zhaitan I’d do it in a heartbeat just to have the opportunity to mangle Trahearne to death.
I was expecting him to die at the end, usually I wish no person any ill, but it was such a disappointment that he lived.
Unfortunately from Arena Net’s track record we are likely going to work very hard to kill a God in the future and he will ascend and take it’s place, or something equally disheartening. I really can not stand Glory thieves and `Saladhead´ as some people call him, fits the bill. He and his personal story (It sure is not ours) is such a badly thought out arc, definitely not Arena Nets greatest achievement.
So many topics cover the fans displeasure over him and even the Zaitan story arc from Claw Island onwards. I wonder if Arena Net had a second chance they would do it differently, perhaps they would pull a Bioware and claim `Artistic Integrity´.
Regardless, the rest of the game is an absolute joy and such a bad egg does not ruin the experience, though a few tweaks to the story to make it stink less would be nice.

I would much rather have Sieran or Tybalt than boring old Trahearne. Boringness aside, why do we have a necromancer in the newest race in the game suddenly an expert on all things zomb… err i mean “Risen”? Seems like a conflict of interest having a necromancer killing undead, not that he does much killing anyways since he is worthless in battle and usually dies near the beginning. I think a game of Mad King Says is in order. "Your Mad King Says… say the word “Claw” correctly. Oh sorry Trahearne, time to die!" smh
or as another user put it so well “Your Mad King says… Display emotion! Any emotion is fine, show me that my subjects do not lack passion!”
To be perfectly honest, I’d be much more comfortable having Mad King as the leader of the pact than Trahearne.
He at least was an accomplished leader and all around lovable fellow.

you missed somethign important OP.
the player isn’t the hero of gw2.
traehearne is.
Probably because things like this cause a divide in the community as always.
What happens when new players join or very causal players for that matter, they don’t have much in the way of gear.
new player:- LFG new dungeon.
existing player invites them
new player :- hi guys.
Existing player:- you got your Ascended Gear?
New player:- Nope
( new player kicked)
New player Kittened off and has to spam for hours trying to get a group to actually get some Ascended Gear to get groups quicker.
Elitism is not an issue in GW2 currently and it is a good reason many play.
Stuff like this promotes it.
" An MMO is about making your character better and better to beat the upcoming content. "
This, really, is not necessarily true. Not all MMOs are like that. Not everyone likes that. A lot of people game to GW2 specifically to escape that from other games.
Uder, sadly my last post was removed else your first reply would have been of absolute support.
You phrased, quite well, what MANY of us are trying to say.
please change the title of thread to : Anet here’s what I want. Why do you speak in the name of the community and all the players?
I do understand how this could be abused but if you would use that information in combination with other information (maybe even automatically so if influence == a, represented == b(%) and online == c then rank = …) and then the information would be very useful and not very exploitable anymore.
I also like the suggestion to be able to send mails to guild-members (by ranks, groups) maybe also with a given variable.. all members that have not been online since x.
There are multiple topics about it, the one I started also still gets some new posts: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Way-more-guild-options-and-rights/first#post668759
So as an extra suggestion, it would be nice if ArenaNet would merge all these topics and make one sticky one.
ITT: The sky is falling.
How about we actually give it a try with the grand total of 3 pieces available to us before we judge it to be the thing that will “ruin GW2”.
You guys just don’t understand the writing of Traehern and his voice over. He is a physical representation of the player. He doesn’t care and we don’t care? See? Were a perfect match together. He is destined for greatness and you are destined for greatness. A match made I suppose.
When he reacted to the death of his friends in a motionless and definite nonchalant way I too acted in the same manner.
See were not all that different! We can get along with him.
Trahearne as he should have been…. dead saving Claw Island while my Norn and I escaped not the dragon but Trahearne
That “rep” you want to see develop for Trahearne is already there story wise. Trahearne has a long history with all 3 Orders before GW2 story began but Anet only showed a small part of that long history through dialogues.
What Anet needs to do is to cover this long history that they already have for Trahearne some how. Like they did with Hero Stories back in GW1 when you play as Major Characters in the GW1 Lore so you can learn first hand what made those people important and how they became who they are today.
I think that if polled, the overwhelming majority of players would offer a big Thumbs Down to more kitten Trahearne stories. We’ve seen enough of the guy. His Wild Hunt is done. We’re gonna go off and do to the other 5 Dragons what we did to this one, hopefully without him riding our coattails. But after having him hijack our personal stories, you want to give him an outright PREQUEL? No. Absolutely not. That ship has sailed, and the best they can do is learn from this mistake and avoid making it again.
that’s pretty much how it is already.
Except not at all.
Trahearne it seems like he basically accompanies you on many missions so you won’t gasp have to make any choices without consulting him and to make sure you get through the mission thanks to Neo… I mean Trahearne’s necro-guardian-ranger-mesmer-elementalist abilities.
/sigh where is a woodchipper and a stick to trip over when you need one

What we want vs what we got. =[
This just came to me as the perfect comparison of the human armor as it is currently adapted to Charr and Asura.
It’s the same result as what happens when you take fashion that was designed for a skinny woman’s body shape, and think that making it a bigger size is going to make it fit a voluptuous woman. It’s not..at all.
The long coats and robes on the Charr physique is just WRONG. No wonder we have such difficulty with jumping puzzles. We keep tripping over our armor ;P
It think GW 1 had a much better design for Charr armor. Take Pyre Fierceshot:
See how the armor covers vital areas, but does not encumber mobility, or as is the case now, try to be something it simply isn’t
Also, just as a personal peeve: The Charr clearly have a more sophisticated aesthetic now, than they did 250 years ago. Look at the monuments to their heroes, and the refined quality they have, and tell me why the same could not have been done for fashion. All the cultural armor looks like rags that have been patched together.
A lot of thought was clearly put into the cultural armor of the Sylvari. The cultural and physiological aesthetic of the entire race was completely re-conceptualized to reflect their lore.
The Charr character design itself is wonderful. I can’t say I’d change anything except perhaps adding more options for manes and tails, horns, fangs, etc.
I really think they got the short end of the stick in the armor department though.
@CTifer my friends band me from using the flamethrower because I scarred them with it… They said there’s no way a crit build flamethrower asura is in any universe not horrifying…
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
You guys hating on this are mixing LFD system with cross-realm, LFD didn’t kill server communities in WoW, it was the cross-realm stuff where you group up with random people from other realms you’re never going to see again.
Give a gamer more anonymity and the opportunity to be a kitten without it affecting their reputation and they will be a kitten.
Server LFD wouldn’t hurt anything it would only make doing dungeons more convenient and accessible, it’s not like spamming LFG in a chat window and pressing yes to join the party is social, it’s something that belongs in old MMOs when LFD systems weren’t possible and to not have it in a modern MMO is just a step back.
At the very least they could have a proper LFG interface where you flag yourself as LFG and leave a comment about your build or whatever attached to it like in FFXI.
Bleh, terrible system. They completely destroyed server communities with it and now it’s spread like a disease throughout the whole game. They have the worst gaming community because of that awful system.
If you want to play WoW, go play WoW. This is GW2.
