Archon Brigade [ARC], Guild Leader
80’s: Warrior, Guardian, Thief, Ranger, Engineer
Just wanted to share my reaping of the 100 Black Lion Chests I opened today in attempt to get a fused weapon claim ticket.
0/100 Black Lion Chests for a fused weapon claim ticket. I have 2 guildies who received a ticket in under 5 chests. RNG Troll strikes again!
That sort of RNG luck is actually quite depressing. Good luck to you, truly, hopefully it is better than mine.
I think a lot of people are getting excited by the changes. Sadly, Warriors won’t be able to do the classic zerky invincible charge and do 20K damage per opponent in range in 2.1 seconds ( or whatever).
However, remember that you can still pull the same kind of move , but just in a little bit more time. This is where timing, landing that cripple/immo is gonna be key to landing that damaging move and being back to business as usual in the zerky world.
We , as warriors, have received many buffs recently, and I’m getting sick of the negativity. The grandmaster of tactics has just received a serious boost in this patch, and rampage is starting to get adjusted.
So here’s what i propose :
1) Everybody calm down, get a grip, and play a few days with the changes. Try out the new events too as a distraction.
2) Observe the changes in the general multi-profession meta.
Go do some WvW. Thieves got stealth chaining nerf via the revealed increase, basilisk doesn’t immo anymore, and the quickness changes will affect everyone, and not just warriors. For example, it means less instastomps in wvw ^-^
3) Try another playstyle.
Ask other warriors what they’re doing. If you have the armor and trinkets, pay the 3 silver to retrait and switch it up a little.
4) After a few days have passed and you’ve seen firsthand the effects of the patch overall….. THEN have a researched opinion.
Let’s just…get it together everyone.
We knew we were losing kit refinement. Did you really expect a 10 point trait to remain that powerful?
Yet rangers have a 5 POINT trait that gives them quickness everytime they swap pets. Seems legit.
you gotta understand the poor guys tho, pets did 60% of their damage, the ranger itself damage is nothing but pretty animations, so quickness help balance this.. and now they are taking a huge hit!
Give it a lil more time before the hate threads. Things may yet even out. You can only get 1 chest per event per day account wide. Also Maw time has been extended, so the big events you are used to are going to get a lot less attention after the mechanics of it all settle in to peoples minds. Also some people may move now with the free option. Give it till maybe April 10th for all the new changes to kick in and whatever shenanigans may happen on the 1st.
It was garbage and it really feels like the overall nerf to quickness was done because of time warp and the CoF farm. So that they could prevent the easy grinding of money and gear. This would nerf ectoplasm gain as well from CoF token exchanges.
This would make it so you have to play the game longer for things such as the legendary weapons. This in my opinion is a very rotten thing to do and is slowing pushing the game toward that like a second job mark if you ever hope to be relevant for content before it is pushed aside for new content.
The PvP change excuse really doesn’t really fly as the Anet team has shown they have the power and know how to make skills act differently in a PvP setting over a PvE setting. Which could have been done for the few skills that were truly broken in PvP.
Also Time Warp as a skill could have been changed so that other classes such as the Ranger which -DEPENDED- on quickness to be relevant as a DPS CLASS at ALL. Would have not have had a LARGE CHUNK of their dps ripped away from them! People already didn’t want many classes like the Ranger over others and now with this nerf…. The warrior pulls even further ahead for really bad reasons.
Really bad call on Anets part.
shoulda been PVP only
And SoR said they only field 25 players max…rofl
But if you turn titles off, you won’t know that 60 people nearby have completed the prestigious Combat Healer achievement.
I think it should be taken further. When anyone is standing next to you a random achievement they’ve done should blink on your screen for the next 5 minutes in 72 point font. Also for the last minute it should reverse your controls.

I know that titles are a big point of pride and all, but our two choices with Nameplate options are currently “Big Ball of Text” and “Who are you again?”. Decreasing the clutter under the Nameplate would greatly improve the no-culling experience. If we wanted to see what title someone had, we’d click on them.
This happens EVERY time when they add new items to the Black Lion Chest.
People rush to buy Keys….open a TON of chests…..then complain that they didn’t get their new shiny.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results – Albert Einstein
Really just stop buying keys…that’s the only way anything will ever change.
Cheap? CHEAP??
Since when is 300g cheap? When is 400g cheap? When are those cheap when the rest of the stuff you need also costs around those numbers anyway?
I farmed my kitten off to get the hunter, I got up to what it’s price was when I started, now it’s 200 more g than it was.
You do realise why this is right?
Every man and his pet drakehound wants their legendaries too – there’s a lot more people wanting legends than there are precursors and legends to go around. It’s not merely enough to have enough gold to buy a precursor at the price it was two weeks ago – you need to get ahead of the curve so you can be the one to outbid your rivals.
If you simply save up your pocket money just like everyone else you will never reach your target; you’re staring down the shaft of zeno’s paradox
BUT! You CANT! take away my titles now without a FIGHT!
You can have as many titles as you fancy; I just don’t want them shoved up on my eyeballs.
going to spoiler it incase people dont want to know anything about it:
Change system clock to April 1st, login to your character select with music turned on.
That has nothing to do with the achievements though, unless that music is what’s going to play when you play the super adventure box.
You did get a warning when you signed up and agreed to the terms of service. By agreeing you indicated you accepted the policies of the game – including the naming conventions.
anet is fully aware that humans are irrational creatures, and exploiting it efficiently.
This is the kind of thing Arenanet does wrong all the time that I find really frustrating. We’ve had titles since launch, but you could only see them in the target frame and that annoyed people who hoped their titles would be more visible. Fair enough.
So, now the titles display above the avatar’s head, but without adding a new UI option to allow viewers to toggle the titles off if they prefer to have less text clutter on their screen (you know, like the way it’s been since launch).
HOW do things like this not occur to the development team? I know they’re aware that players are not fond of having text all over the screen, and yet in one poorly thought out move they managed to find a way to literally double it. Note how text is never displayed in ANET screenshots and videos.. because the marketing team finds it ugly and distracting and they make sure it’s hidden. Guess what.. the players think so too!
I don’t want to turn off player names because they’re useful and I am willing to put up with the text clutter they add to the UI. But titles are not useful, and I don’t want them cluttering up my screen. Why is there no option to turn them off? You guys have got to start thinking these decisions through.
RNG Cash Shops are for F2P games that want to squeeze as much money out of suckers as possible before they realize the game is kitten and move on to something else. If Arenanet actually wants to grow and maintain a strong player base over a period of years, they really, really need to knock this kitten off.
It’s really like the person running the cash shop is more concerned about “how awesome it feels when I can sucker some gamer into paying x-hundreds of dollars on the cash shop”, rather than trying to establish a healthy, long term revenue stream.
IMO, the skins should be for sale directly for around 500 Gems AND the tokens should drop from chests. That way, people who just want a skin or two can do so with out the risk of shelling out a lot more than intended in the pursuit of an RNG, but people who already buy BLC keys, or have been on the fence about buying them, have a little bonus incentive to do so while the tokens are available.
I find it extremely sad that Arenanet has decided that “let’s rip suckers off for as much as we can” is their Gem Store mission statement, rather than “Let’s offer quality offerings at fair prices so a large portion of the player base can invest in the game over the long term and get some guaranteed value for their money”.
anything from black lion chests is an insta gtfo in my book.
This is why I always buy about $10 of gems before a patch shows up.
Anet will continue to buff warriors until they are the only class in the game. at that point they can declare that they have achieved perfect class balance.
Yes. That was snark.
I have three warriors. One is a tank. One is a MF farmer. One is a zerker.
None of them remotely needs buffed. The whole reason I picked warrior for my head to toe MF character was because warriors were way far along on the strong side of the whole tissue paper – OP continuum.
I have one engineer. I don’t play her much at all because frankly, everything she might be able to do okay, I have another class that does much better. Single target DPS-thief. Ranged AoE DPS-ranger. Easy AoE DPS-warrior. Flexibility-elementalist.
Even more support-ish roles are better in other classes. If you want to be healer, be a water spec’d elly. Want to buff teammates – guardian or shout/banners warrior.
But engineer…poor engineer. Sure, you can have some silliness with a few builds that are based on your opponent killing themself, provided a) you can find an opponent without a functioning brain and b) you don’t get killed long before finding a).
So a few people figure out that the new flamethrower tweaks make that underwhelming kit someone useful. Can’t have that. NERF DETONATION.
Heck, I know it’s prolly a bug getting fixed. I don’t really care. Engineers need a lot of love that they just aren’t getting (as do necros, but necro love might be just fixing minion AI so that they actually always fight). Instead, patch after patch they just get further and further behind the other classes.
I mean, you’re never going to see a post on gw2lfg.com saying “GLF2M Zerker Engineers Only” now are you? In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen a group actually looking for an engineer ever, nor are there ever that many people who eagerly post the fact they’re an engineer looking for an invite.
On the other hand, when I need a few quick gold, I’m all about posting “80 full zerker warr LFG”, and I think I’ve had to wait as long as 30 seconds once to find a group…at 2am…on a weekday…
Several massive nerfs to Rangers that the small buffs don’t make up for and considering it was already the weakest class…
Le sigh, nerfing quickness speed really sucked a great amount of fun out of ranger. on swap quickness buff was pretty big part of certain playstyles.
Really quickness feels kind of over nerfed now.
On sigils it has a 45 second cool down, which means no other sigil effects can trigger
3 seconds of 50% attackspeed increase against 5 stacks of might in combat, guaranteed crits on swap, etc. seems like trash.
50% damage taken increase for 50% attackspeed (this is no longer really a buff, just a stance shift with a long cool down)
no heals for longer on ranger (who has many hot type abilities
no endurance for longer on theif.
And now visually and vicerally, quickness doesnt “feel” powerful 50% reduction barely feels faster for most skills.
COF nerf sucked the fun and usuability out of the skill.
this type of thing wouldnt be as a big a deal if we had more skills to choose from.
Can i get some new elites for my mesmer?
some other utility targeted towards burst potentiall, that actually feels cool.
The reduction style of balance is killing MMO’s we re supposed to feel like bad kitten heroes, id rather defensive abilities get more powerful than offensive skill feel bleh.
make aegis /blind last for like 1 second once triggered, give COF boss pushbuck/non damage skills it uses when enemies start wailing on it at insane speeds. (which can be dodges, or avoided, however this will lower DPS greatly for rushdown play and less for skilled use, but still lower it, while making sense as Just good AI to use a skill that helps it when people are using rushdown tactics.
Stop making the game less fun in balancing, and using simplified number nerfs to handle things that would be more entertaining for all and more fun to play with mechanics balance changes
Life is already too serious. I want to play a fun game.
I’m developing “Developer Hate”.
Boon Hate? No No No No No NO
Boon Stealing (aka mesmer arcane thievery) Yes
Why
In the official description (quoted at beginning of thread) BOONS are directly mentioned for Guardians, so in my eyes Boon hate= Guardian Hate (Yes i know other professions get boons but that word does not get mentioned in their official description)
Boons are Beneficial (by definition of the word) Yet it will be more damaging to have these “Boons”
Stealing Boons would be far better: Those boons can be taken and used by the enemy against us it would lead to better gameplay
The dev’s want Build diversity – yet they are (seemingly) making a build unviable
On that thought chain isn’t that supposed to be the definition of a ‘bunker’ build?
Bunkers are meant to be tough.
If the reason is to do with pvp capture points then perhaps the mechanic of how this works should be looked at (i dont spvp so cant comment on this)
I also believe this is just a ‘quick’ fix – instead of looking at all the individual skills boons duration/frequency/stacking which would take longer.
i wvw a fair bit so here’s just two of my experiences:
A thief has literally 4 hit me = downed = dead (with boon hate that will now be 2 hits)
A thief and cofusion mesmer killed me in a few minutes (i was unable to do anything with all the perma stacks of confusion, and with the clones and thief pew pewing = dead)
Both of these two examples involve a thief (and they’re supposed to be getting boon hate)
