Norns are the only ones that actually break the typical fantasy race mold, woulda been more interesting though if they weren’t just bigger human models. Perhaps blue skin, or ice/ frost as part of the make up. More like Ice brood.
So guys i dont know how about you but i have ~100 rings and i would like to know if anet is planing to make some use for them, like salvaging them into random T6 mat or something like that…..I get that if space is more limited that ppl will buy more gems, tahts fine but cmon piling up potentially worthless items is a bit ridiculous…
100 rings don’t buy you a life

Dude, if you’re gonna do the monthly in 3 days you’re a hardcore player.
If they make it so that a hardcore player takes 15 days to complete a monthly, then it’s just unfair to the casual.

there easier(1 bounty vs 2 bounties). Training is supposed to be just that TRAINING there only something to help practice and get the influence so when you do do the real thing your not complaining here again to the forums about how you couldn’t do it and you still didn’t get your chest.
At this current time it wont happen, but it will happen in the future. The money gained from it is simply irresistible. Take WoW for example.
I’m fine with it but if you have a character called NaughtyMonkeyBits as well, the ANet team may see it as offensive to someone…then that Name Change Contract may be of some use to you in the future….
I’m thinking of recruiting based on achievement points, 4000+ or go home.
This is actually what I look for. If the player has less than 1500-2K, I become highly concerned that they do not have the experience to understand how the mechanics of a boss/fractal works and ask upfront if they have done this before.
If a player has 4k+, I know that 99% of the time, they are probably a fine contribution with whatever class they are playing.
Yup, I follow this logic as well when playing recently. I especially get nervous when I see people in my CoF groups with less than 1000 achievs. That’s usually a flag right there that they don’t even know how to enter dungeons.
Sorry, I know this is a bit off topic, but… I feel like going on a mini rant.
Is this just trolling/sarcasm I’m taking too seriously? You realize that if achievement points have any correlation to player skill level at all, it is at best miniscule, right? You don’t get achievement points for being skillful, you get them for accomplishing an arbitrary check list of predefined objectives. Whether or not you do them skillfully is not taken into consideration.
For instance, you get achievement points simply by finishing story steps for different races, so just by virtue of having more characters, you have a higher potential achievement total. That doesn’t have any relation to skill.
Finishing jumping puzzles or finding certain markers on the maps gives you achievements, but the completion of such things does not make you apt for dungeons.
Mindlessly grinding mobs with different weapons nets you achievement points, but this again doesn’t apply any skill whatsoever. A bot is perfectly capable of attaining high achievement points in this manner.
Players who largely participate in other formats like WvW or sPvP may not have very high achievement points because they haven’t bothered addressing the checklist of items, but it doesn’t mean they’ve never run a dungeon or have a severe lack of skill.
It’s very possible that someone with a low achievement score is relatively new to the game, but it doesn’t mean they can’t follow instructions or learn how to do things. You should be able to explain it to them quite easily and lead by example with your 4000+ achievement points, no?
In other words, you could very easily be kicking out very skilled people and bringing on people with a subpar understanding of anything.
And how is an arbitrary number like 4000 achievement points considered a skill threshold? Is there some kind of mathematical forumla that proves a player has a given level of skill based on their achievement points? Or is it just that you have passed this threshold and are obviously extremely skilled, and therefore others need to be comparable to your own abilities based on this completely unrelated metric?
The only way to really measure someone’s performance is to see them in action. Until you’ve actually seen them in a dungeon run (i.e. group with them), I don’t think you have any reasonably defined, objective, and unbiased basis on which to exclude them.
I know you’re concerned about your time being wasted, but you’re going to end up shooting yourself in the foot with the aforementioned attitude when the population of these people with high achievement scores wanes. It’s the same reason some employers have a tough time finding new employees from university. They all compete for people with GPAs of 3.6+, and then complain about how there’s a shortage of people in the industry. Meanwhile, troves of incredibly skilled (and sometimes more competent) potential employees are just passed over.
Besides, it’s not like you figured out how to run all the dungeons on your own. If you’re not going to try to include others and encourage the development of people you view as less skilled, then you’re just going to stagnate the pool of people on whom you rely upon to run dungeons in the first place.
Stop complaining. Before you take this as a troll thread, pull down your pants, and go crazy… hear me out.
This thread is primarily to educate the general warrior public and an attempt to start anew the warrior community as a whole. (Well… improve)
Also, please read this post in its entirety as it should be. If you take a single part and comment against that… well… you’re kind of missing the point. I’m not here to argue against you guys. I’m not a professional player. However, I am someone that does enjoy the game and hope that we can improve the warrior community as a whole and, as a result, improve our game play.
1. Warriors do suck in sPvP. We all know this.
The first thing I would like to say is that simply improving the warrior’s condition removal is not the answer. Someone put up a troll thread talking about warriors having too much % damage. While the thread is utterly useless, it is true that warriors have a great amount of % damage.
I think it’s safe to say that warriors also have, arguably, the strongest bursts and/or damage potential. Now… what does that mean?
It means that if you simply improve the warrior’s condition removal, the warrior will actually become the monstrosity that developers are afraid of. While the problem may seem very easy to handle on the surface, it is actually a much more complex and difficult to handle. What’s the answer? Boon hate? Reduce damage and increase condition removal? Who knows… But it is the job of the developers.
Yes, we can make suggestions… but, at the end of the day, the majority of us… well… almost all of us are neither qualified nor capable of doing so without messing up another aspect of the game. Are the developers any better? Only time will tell, but please refrain from making harsh criticism based on less than a year of game play and incite other warriors to do the same.
2. Life and alternatives.
I’m not saying this as a “get a life” insult; rather, I am saying that there are plenty other options to explore not only in the gaming world but in the “real world” as some people refer to it… although that never made sense to me.
If you are truly disgruntled with the situation that the Warrior is in… leave!
Don’t take it the wrong way. I’m saying to take a break. An extended sabbatical if necessary. When Guild Wars 1 came out… there was so much less content in the game. A lot of people on forums about how the game sucked and etc. etc. etc… but look what an amazing game GW1 turned out to be.
Fact is that GW2 has yet to reach a year of age… and in comparison to other games during their first year, GW2 is doing a great job.
As much as you hate the developers, give them that much credit. Be thankful for what we have and look forward to what comes, but don’t place expectations.
GW2 TP is awesome. Not only is it good for our game, it’s good for the industry.
How exactly is this the case? I sense strong bias leading to inaccuracy.
It’d be awfully nice if at the least we could get a fusion weapon ticket from doing this event. You know, give people who actually enjoy the story a nice reward instead of sticking them in those stupid Black Lion boxes?
I feel for you. The only thing that surprises me is why Australians would be on EU servers in the first place. I say this as an Australian.
From almost the very beginning, the unofficial Oceanic server has been Sea of Sorrows. Even before launch the forums were talking about it.
Sucks that it happened though.
Well thankfully Anet keeps upping the drop chances off those easy to find passion vines………..
There are people who have money, and have no problems spending it. That’s ok. The problem here is that people don’t realize they have a problem. People who complain about needing to collect all mini pets, or needing to get their awesome chest only weapon skins, and not having any sort of guaranteed avenue to get them, are the ones who need to take a look in the mirror. All these things are optional, but the player’s desire to get them all can lead to other problems (i.e. financial).
Most people don’t get diagnosed by a professional. I never have, but I know the signs. There are many of them, and I’m only bringing up one. It’s all about knowledge. The more you know about yourself, the better off you are. I don’t hoard, but I do have that feeling of needing to collect things, for the sake of completeness (i.e. filling all empty mini slots). It drives me crazy to see empty slots, but not to the point where I must spend all my money to buy Gems to collect them all.
The more people who see the internal cause of their complaining, the better off they’ll be.
There is going to be a huge wealth gap between players much like in rl. Those that play varied content will have 0-100g on avg and then there will be those that play the TP and grind things like Cofp1. For those I would have to reason based off experience, but I would venture to say 1,000-10,000g.
Based on your data i would question your assumption. You see legendary two handed swords every where you go how many times do you see the predator? 15 dusks for sale no hunter. If The Energizer droped as often as Dusk the tp would be swimming in them. I would assumn that there is a bias towards the “more popular” skins some where in the code, which has been thrown out a little now some skins got an upgrade.
Remember though, one method of precursor creation is the MF, which means more popular precursors like Dusk/Dawn are created a bit more often than less-popular ones like The Hunter.
I get the impression that people don’t like this random chance stuff.
stuff likes this makes me wonder if anet’s design teams’ paychecks are determined by rng as well
Gamers need to stop using the term “hardcore”. It once meant something, maybe 15-17 years ago, but it got adopted by Microsoft to sell the Xbox as having a gaming heritage to the public, and Microsoft’s rebranding of the term kind of messed up the original meaning. It then became a buzzword that’s been thrown around like a frisbee at a dog park.
I doubt the OP can even describe his idea of “hardcore” even while thinking he/she is missing it.
My Engineer uses double pistol with a rifle in her backpack. This means I can’t get anything for her.
I really wanted some retro 8-bit guns.

We are a very small team. The more skins we made, the less stuff we could make in the Box. So we settled for a minimal set, with plans to add to it with each new World we release. I love Engies and I wish we could have served them and Thieves better this time around, but had to make some tough choices.
As I fall into the 35-40 demo, allow me to speak for my brethren that think super adventure box is the most kitten thing I have ever seen in my life.
This is supposed to be a game of epic world vs world pvp.. instead we get hello kitty adventure island.
Character balance needs work, the engineer class is crud, WvW is about as interesting as a game of leap frog.. or watching people jog... and we already have a pointless mini-game; it’s called S-pvp.
My father taught me that you don’t start a new project you finish the last one.
Anet never finishes anything they start, and the fact that our "expansion’s worth of content" is super adventure box, makes me want to stab babies with a coat hanger.
If you need me, I’ll be watching Game of Thrones. I can’t take any more of this kids stuff.
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.
I just wanted to point out that this would have been better:
Wow… she has seen some serious ccrap…
Or she got into the catnip. :p
The OP is wishful thinking at its finest. Judging by the amount of detailed info available before/during the event as well as wintersday, they learned their lesson and wont say “oh btw heres a precursor” when the event ends without any prior warning about it.
Hey there ANet (and anyone else interested in discussing this),
I did the two new instances yesterday. There were a few things I liked and disliked, so I just wanted to give you some constructive feedback!
Liked:
Cutscenes – these new cutscenes made me more interested in the story and didn’t make me feel separate as the dialogue ones did
Baby devourer – loved this addition to the Rox mission, it added a good bit of flavour!
Disliked:
Repetition – in both instances, you literally move from one area to the other and just fight the molten alliance coming out of portals. It got dull pretty fast, and it’d be nice to have something fresh. Granted I cannot think of any amazing ideas right now, but maybe if we all put our heads together?
Thanks for the new content!
Gasp! But Meatoberfest is one of the highlights of the zone and it shows how the charr and norn could possible get along. It’s one of the reasons that I take every character through the zone. I would be kind of sad if some goofy Living Story arc destroyed such an important part of that zone’s charm.
I really like the potential of the periscope idea. I love the little notification of ‘you feel like you are being watched’ making you pause to inspect your surroundings to find out whats going on.
However…come on. Knock back. Ranged. Spammable. Who in there right mind thought that was a fun and engaging concept?
I even had the situation where I had killed one, did a few bits and bobs in the area and as I was moving on it respawned and knocked me down another 3 times when I was just trying to pass through!
Argh. Frustrating game mechanic is frustrating!
Dont worry keep buying keys youll get there
Lol. This is sublime.
To all others who wonder why they aren’t in the TP for direct purchase, obviously the company makes more money from people gambling on keys than they make from skin purchases (they tried both models, after all). There is no other explanation.
As long as we have hamsters, this RNG will keep spinning.
If you bought keys and now complain you didn’t get a skin, please be aware that you empowered the RNG system.
The breakdown is appreciated.
I just opened mine and proceeded to a rather much more disorganized breakdown (Ha! Pun! Ha!).
Seriously though. The RNG is cruel on these. I’d have to be drunk to gamble on them again…
