I miss the Vulnerability on Hunter’s Shot.
Now we have even less damage, sicne we can’t start on 10 stack of Vulnerability on the foes.

My suggestion:

  • [#3] Hunter’s Shot 12sec Applies 10 stacks of Vulnerability. Fire a shot that strikes for more damage the less health your target has @ 1200 Range
  • [#4] Point Blank Shot ½ 15sec Push back your foe with a point-blank shot. The closer they are, the farther it pushes them back. Grants you 5sec stealth when it hits.
    (Pet’s damage don’t breaking it any longer) 900 Range
    Why? It’s not OP, we can decide to attack the target within 5 seconds, or stay back hidden.

There is just as much that can’t see past pve.

I don’t think there is. I think the PvE player recognize the desire PvP and WvW players have for stealth. The thing is they robbed Peter to pay Paul, and I think it’s pretty clear who’s Peter and who’s Paul in this situation.

if anything, you just got a DPS increase on Rapid Fire. As each shot will do +1% damage squared more then the last. if the game mechanics isn’t completely up-side-down

Until you realize you used to be able to do +10% damage across the board by hitting hunter’s shot first, then Rapid Shot. So the first hit now does 10% less damage, and while the next shot does 1% more than the first, it’s doing 9% less than before. It isn’t until the last 3 shots that you’re actually doing full damage again.

Throwing axes that bounce does not fit. “If Chewbacca lives on on Endor, you must acquit.”

By actually making daggers (with the current skillset for MH axe) a thrown weapon you open up the option of using a new one handed melee weapon: the axe.

They nerfed some of our best pets, like the wolf, 5o percent. My pet dies standing at my side in WvW yet we don’t have an option to stow them in combat. It’s ridiculous.

They also severely nerfed longbow damage in this patch, and gave us some wonky stealth mechanic that doesn’t work all that well. It is supposedly an escape tool, but you have to shoot someone to get stealth and that puts you in combat and slows you down. We still have variable range damage which is horrible given the realities of WvW and PVE where a lot of combat occurs at close range. Longbow has a very narrow cone of fire in front of it and it is kitten near impossible to circle kite someone at close range with it as you will cancel the shot with the slightest turn.

Oh, did I mention that Rapid Fire still looks like this:

Obstructed, Obstructed, Out of Range, 1256, Obstructed.

Out of 8 times I tracked my use of stealth in WvW it has failed 6 times and worked twice. One time it failed was due to a warrior blocking it and the other times I have no clue. Beyond that my impression is that it fails a lot though I haven’t been keeping tabs or noticing why it fails. Add that to Point Blank Shot which routinely fails due to the 1/2 second cast time allowing NPCs and humans to get behind you and cause the shot to fail.

I don’t know why some people are so enthusiastic about the changes. The class is still broken and while stealth is a “step in the right direction” it is a baby step and still dysfunctional and of marginal utility given its high failure rate and requirement that you hit someone. It simply is not something you can rely on in combat and at best it’s kind of a Hail Mary Pass and nothing else.

The reason why I focused my communication in that thread is because it was loaded with constructive feedback, which should always be promoted. No, it was most definitely NOT the only thread about Necromancers. Also, it was NOT the only thread that I posted in regarding the Necro changes and feedback.

Now, with that in mind; This was a change that was SPLIT between PvP and PvE. The change ONLY happened for PvPers, and it was a quick turnaround due to the fact that the tournament was starting this weekend.

This does NOT mean that we ignore the Necromancer forums. This does NOT mean we don’t make changes that benefit PvE. This does NOT mean we don’t have hotfixes specifically to help PvE players.

Appreciate your feedback, but many of the things you are claiming are simply not true.

This is disingenuous. I don’t say that lightly. It takes one recent change out of context, out of the whole host of recent changes that have all revolved around balancing the power of dhumfire in pvp. All of those changes were NOT split in PvE and WvW, and honestly? Keeping dhumfire the same in pve makes no difference – it can’t possibly compete with close to death. The fact that the split was made for dhumfire and not for DS overflow just shows how utterly out of touch the balance team is with the state of pve….

I get it. PAX is an important piece of publicity, and this is a duct-tape on the windshield type fix because the show must go on. So then, make all of those changes pvp only, not the one change that does nothing to help the state of necromancers in pve.

just to make the above juxtaposition clearer:

PvE balance is a completely different beast, as there are insane amounts of things that undergo balance changes (Different classes of creatures, dungeons, Story instances, events, etc.)… If you would like to discuss PvE, please use the appropriate sub-forums.

The reason I quickly jump into the sPvP forums is because that’s usually the best place to talk overall game balance … it’s literally just easier for me (personally) to check 1 sub forum, rather than 8

2 part problem-

-Boss mechanics are predictable and boring. When the whole or the majority of a fight relies heavily on reflects as a counter, that’s not very creative or fun.

-It’s not that some classes are Over Powered. It’s that other classes are Under powered.

Guild Wars 2’s not losing steam. Anyone who thinks so isn’t around on patch days. There’s still a whole lot of people playing it.

It’s not a blockbuster with 7 million player, but then no MMO that’s been produced in the last 7 years is. Not one. So how do you measure success.

Everyone says Eve Online is successful and that has only 500,000 subscriptions. I’m pretty sure that more people play Guild Wars 2 than that (but I have no way to prove it).

Guild Wars 2 is doing fine. The people who don’t like it say it isn’t….but you can’t keep producing new content every 2 weeks if you’re not doing fine.

Anyone who says you can is delusional.

patch days….you mean like that last patch that generally screwed necros over..?….yea…..thats such a good example to use…..lol GW2 is slowly losing ppl , ive seen ppl quit cause of this horrible balancing to classes thats based SOLELY on PvP alone , and no real thoughts to PvE , if you really think PvE is given any thought then you need to get a wakeup call…..like ppl that say DS absorbs more , thats only a pvp perspective , in pve ? you die just as fast , if not faster unless your always using spectral armor (ie we are being forced to spec into specific ways / utilities to even HAVE a form of defense unlike other classes that have plenty of defense) , and trying to rely on weakness for defense? lol wanna guess how many condition cleansers are in the game? our defense that way is also nullified , no thought is given to the pve aspect of this game anymore , its been purely on pvp. so big surprise why the game is slowly dieing , when you ignore a bigger player base like the PvE / WvW players , you tend to drive them off.

Boss fights are just a 1 zerg – especially Open World Bosses. 25 stacks of bleeds mean absolutely nothing when taking them down, because as with most of the game, the berserker dominates.

I know that boss mechanics are being rethought and redone, and I appreciate that. I hope ANet will take my plea into account here. But as Guild Wars 2 was meant to be a game about skill, I wish the bosses would seem like they possessed a little more skill. Movement, dodging, a more variable skill set.

And not just Gold and Legendary bosses. Buff the everyday Veteran. Make the trash mobs move. When I started playing in beta in the starter zones, I didn’t think combat that difficult, but then again, it was just a starter area. I imagined Orr and Zaitan’s minions to be acrobatic menaces. But when your average mob just spams 1, and all it takes for you to kill a boss is spamming 1, there’s no real fun in everyday PvE.

And while world bosses with a trash mob’s HP would be lame, you could always buff it a little, give him some healing capability (interesting if he entered a state where if he was attacked, he gained the amount of health he wakitten for). Think outside the box when redesigning your bosses. And your regular mobs.

What do you guys think? Is the current persistent world hard enough? Guild Wars 1 AI was more versatile than this, why can’t we incorporate that into GW2?

In theory, when going to Lion’s Arch we would have to pay the waypoint fee. In practice, travelling to Lion’s Arch is free, as you can just teleport from anywhere in the world to the Mists (PvP) or to WvW and enter the Asura gate there to reach LA. This means we have free access to one of the outposts with a bank, TP access, crafting station, trainers and etc.

This, however, has a lot of issues:

• Having to pay the fee to Lion’s Arch when using the makitten illy when we can just teleport there for free.

• Entering the Mists or WvW to go to Lion’s Arch doesn’t really help sPvP or WvW, nor does the added loading screen help players.

• Free travelling to Lion’s Arch and no other city means everyone goes to LA and no one uses the features in the other main cities.

It’s simply bad design. We should be able to at least teleport to a character’s home city for free.

stealth at 34s, sparks in at 1:06, stealth at 1:19, sparks in at 1:46, stealth at 2:06, sparks in at 3:00, dead at 3:29.

45 seconds stealth to stealth (except for one where she gave you an extra couple seconds for some reason), and even with a spark pull that lasted longer than a stealth window she gave you enough time to DPS her the rest of the way. The scenario the bug crowd is describing is her popping back at 50% and not giving a full 45 second stealth to stealth window.

I don’t know why some people are getting 45 and some are getting 55, that’s kind of odd. But your vid shows normal behavior as far as I can tell. It’s the stealth-to-stealth window that flips out (I still believe), though we don’t have any video evidence of that yet.

Hello there Gnat,

I’ve been playing support Guardian build ever since release, tunning it slighty over the months, until the point I felt like it works everywhere. People say you can’t be dedicated healer in dungeons, but it’s not true. You can, and you can do it very well.

Of course those who say that full berserk sets work even better might be correct, but not every group is full of pro players who know all the mechanics in the game, and know what to dodge. And in these groups, a healing Guardian can be very handy.

I usually run with 4 berserk warriors though, so they make up for all the damage I’m lacking, while I maintain their health, boons and Might on desirable level, as well as can add 10s of Quickness on bosses. Most of the time warriors don’t even need to dodge anything, cos they get stability, aegis, protection and regen, as well as direct heals at right moment.

Endless energy regen with the sigils of Energy+Stamina and vigor (fury from warriors helps with vigor)

Depending on encounter, one or two shouts are switched with consecrations like Hallowed Ground, Wall of Reflection, Sanctuary and in some particular dungeons/fractals Spirit Shield.

I played a lot in GW1 as Imbagon, and that’s exactly what I wanted to achieve in GW2. I think I succeeded, even though most players want to leave when they see a guardian with staff and mace, after one run with me they end up asking about my build. So I don’t think it’s that bad really, it’s just against the belief of “healing power scales bad” and “you can’t heal lol” and “play berserk, kk?”.

It’s really weird for me when I see berserk guardians. If I want to do it berserk way, I play my warrior. If I want to play guardian, I like to dedicate myself to be best supporter you can get, even though my damage is crap.

I don’t even know what to say anymore.
