It’s not even just the fact that ranged dps is bad, it’s also that most rangers who are trying to do ranged dps take pets that do kittenty melee dmg.

They should make it work like Fresh Air in the ele trees, whenever you score a critical hit Opening Strikes refreshes and then slap an ICD on it.

Which would basically just make it gain opening strike depending on the ICD since opening strike itself means critting? Meh … sounds kind of stupid to me.

I don’t think you have the slightest clue on what a crafter is supposed to be doing if you think they should be account bound….. Not to mention this gear, because components in it are account bound and thus not tradeable, will take MONTHS to craft.

Sadly the ranger class as a whole seems to be a haven for bad players ,moreso then any of the other classes. So while the class has some deficiencies the general lack of players experienced with the class tends to bring a ton of QQ posts and omg I’m quitting threads.

I find it really wierd that when you look carefully you find ranger actually has probably the highest skill floor of all classes and too many ignore ranger melee, or event Axe since recent updates.

the reason there is so many bad rangers, is exactly because the skillfloor is just way higher then most other professions. The sheer fact that you must actually CARE a bit about playing your class makes it night impossible for most people to play it. Let alone the fact that the vast majority reads the class as “epic WoW-hunter like archer” when instead they shoulda read “this looks like Aragorn from LotR”

No, I mean even compared to other range weapons and even back in Guild Wars 1. Ranger longbow has terrible DPS compared to pretty much every other single-target range weapon, and warriors tend to favor rifle over longbow (which I take to mean that it’s much better). In GW1, they killed bow damage due to ranger spike, despite the fact that there were many ways to spike from range (and many were unblockable or included deep wound). AoE damage from bows was terrible in PVP, and in PVE you needed to use splinter weapon to get much from it. Bows were pretty much limited to interrupts and condition spamming in PVP. And now, in GW2, they seem to want bows to be a weapon to use while closing to melee range, before pulling out a sword or greatsword for the bulk of the fight.

You’re absolutely correct, guild Wars 2 has a helpful and friendly community to the point where they have people not place first when they already have it.

Since you are purposely ignoring what the community is doing for others, you have essentially became a taboo.

Now you’re complaining about the reactions of the community when you’re not helpful and friendly??? Such a disgrace.

Well. If you want to keep winning, you do have to pay the consequences of people getting upset with you for winning. Not sure why you feel the need to keep making these topics.

Because I should be able to play the game without being called names. If you don’t want to read my threads then don’t, it’s up to you.

Here’s a solution for you, don’t go in first place. Perhaps you should be part of the community, rather then be against it. You’re doing this on purpose to the point where you have made several topics about this to “rub salt” in the wounds of those who have not achieved it.

I don’t know about you, but id rather not have people like this in our community.

Level Requirement on Celestial Recipes

Yujin.1785

Is this really intended or necessary? The Gossamer/Orichalcum don’t seem to have the level requirement but learning specific recipes for weapons and armor do.

It’s not like our low level toons haven’t been crafting level 80 exotics in the past once they’ve maxed out their crafting profession; consequently, I find that it’s a bit odd that they would start placing level restrictions on these weapons and armor.

What reward was their in Guild Wars 1 for doing the HoM? Wife and I did the 30/50 for the skins (couldn’t care less about titles) but I did not get a reward in Guild Wars 1. The HoM was put there (pretty much EotN was put there) to bridge the gap between Gw1 to GW2, and so us old players that started GW1 on day one can carry on with our game.

I think people who played GW1 enough and were dedicated enough to fill their Hall of Monuments deserve a little more than 2 achievement points per tier. This seems fair to those who were dedicated to GW1.

Do you struggle with ranger in dungeon play?

Background: I don’t have much time to gw2 hardcore anymore. So before I move on to other priorities in life, I want to help some of you guys.

Over the last few months I’ve developed a lot of relationships here. I’m a “say it like it is” kind of guy so I tend to be harsh. I’ve told people to learn to play or that maybe they just suck. No one needs that and I apologize (actually I just did this about 1 minute ago hehe sorry OP). So I’ve made and broken many relationships.

I want to give back so here’s how: I am willing to stream FOTM 48 runs, or do any dungeon of your choice with you. The goal is to show how I perform and to encourage others to put more trust in the ranger profession.

Please reply to this thread, I’m willing to play in game with anyone who struggles and needs help with ranger. Also, I’m in Prysin’s ranger guild. Join that and interact with other talented players on this forum.

You all have been great and when I do peel myself away, I’m going to miss you. I’ll miss the debates, the podcasts, watching the QQ develop on the forums—all that stuff. Thanks for sticking it out: you’re all still here! And playing ranger! That itself is aassive accomplishment since I love pets and I love nature themes, it’s so cool seeing others like me who don’t want to play their second favorite in a dungeon just because Strife said so.

You guys rock.

It’s not their fault the dungeons are so ridiculously easy that’s it’s just a simple DPS race. The only player who really needs to know what they are doing is the mesmer.

You could swap a thief in for one of the warriors, or make a case for a guardian, and lose little to no time. The problem with the meta is that it’s self reinforcing and people are generally too ignorant to think even a little outside the box.

Half of these warriors are brain dead zombies who are generally terrible at the game. If they want to farm P1 over and over, it’s not really going to affect me one way or the other.

My favorite CoFP1 run was with 3 warriors, a mesmer, and me (thief). We got to the boulders and the mesmer DCed. After a wait we decided to replace him. The warriors were fuming when I invited a non-mesmer guildie just to finish the run. They’d rather have waited 5 minutes for the “optimal” group rather than just finish it. I kid you not, ALL three of them died trying to navigate the rolling boulders. One of them just quit. They didn’t even know the game mechanics enough to dodge or move properly, so used to being carried.

TL;DR: There are plenty of fish in the sea. If you don’t like them, don’t group with them.

I’m never likely to be a daily WvW player. However, I went on a guild WvW night last week. The guild had contributed money to one player to get a commander title. This person sponsored the guild WvW night. During the process, he explained things to us, like where to go, what to do, when to do it, and more importantly why to do it. I find that if I understand why something works, I’m a lot more likely to enjoy myself. We were able to defeat somewhat larger zergs, and now I know why.

To get more people into WvW, I believe decent commanders need to invest in guild events during which they teach people new to the game mode. It might pay dividends.

I never was into wvw or similar stuff in other mmo´s. In GW2 I only went in there to get map completion first and then my 500 badges for my gift of battle. After spending more time in wvw, I started liking it and now play wvw more than 60% of my time.

But when I started out, wvw wasnt as competitive as it is right now. These days its harder for new players to get a foothold in wvw without being screamed at for beginners faults.

I think the wvw community can do alot more to make new players feel welcome and important. For example, experienced commanders can offer weekly training events where you take 10 new players to a borderland and do the breakout event. If you focus on explaining alot instead of rushing to the next objective, they will have a way more exciting first experience and might stick around.

Honestly, if you’re considering WvW as PvE, do a favor to you and to WvWers and stick with PvE.

Though I am not too fond of WvW, your comment is elitist and unneeded. Some players may excel at both, anyway. In short, PvE is not either superior or inferior to PvP-it’s just an alternate way of playing the game (PvP is no GW2 “leet badge”.)

To whom it may apply: the “carebears” moniker is so stupid: caring isn’t “bad”, and there’s nothing wrong about those old friendly bears cartoons. Being competitive is not the only way to enjoy life, and people should be allowed to be themselves without being insulted for it.

In short, the world would be a better place if people understood it’s perfectly fine to be different from each other and prefer different things, without pretending that our choices and beliefs must be superior to those of others just because they are our own, and they “must be correct” (“the way I see life is the way everybody else must see it.”)

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

All this is is just a bunch of “waaahhh someone has something i don’t! I don’t want to get it for myself so please remove it from them instead!”.

If you have time to get to 9-10k+, you have time to get these hom points yourself. If you don’t want to do that then shut up and face the fact that your worthless achievement score(and yes, it IS a completely worthless number in the end) will never be the #1.

Given the number of years many of us put into GW1, as opposed to the 1 year GW2 has been out, fair would be to make the HoM worth 50,000 points instead of a measly 500 ;-)

500 points looks like a lot but it translate to what… an extra chest?

That’s not even what they’re QQing about. They’re upset that they got bumped down by others on the achievement leaderboard.

Not to mention, HOM points weren’t the only things that got a boost. But hey, HoM can’t be done in GW2 so target them as the cause of being bumped down.

I must say;

Thank you once again everyone for a positive and helpful discussion. I have decided to roll a mes and war and it is my long, like REALLY long time goal to level them up (maybe like 1 level a week). In the mean time, I will play other games

Or if you want to play CoF now, just start your own group and be playing the dungeon within a couple minutes.

IMO this is another jumping puzzle.

Any other rangers tired of how it only calls the pet over with current health unless it was dead? I mean if the skill can revive a completely dead pet shouldn’t it be able to fully heal it? It just seems stupid that the skill is better because you don’t keep your pet alive and gain no benefit if you actually keep him alive well at least while downed. Granted it isn’t that bad I only wrote this cause the situation in which it happened this time was really annoying but I would hope they would change it to fully heal/revive the pet and call them over to revive you.
