One time events are the most monumentally stupid design choice ANet could have made about this game’s special events. And yet, ANet is full of smart people who mean well and probably actually like their fans. So what gives?

I request a Christmas Event that runs for the whole of December month because people will complain they didnt get the epic chest (with chance of precursors inside) at the end of one time events due to the following:

1. they are on holiday over the xmas period
2. they failed to notice the Special Events notification on login and forums
3. the timezones makes it impossible to attend one-time events
4. the snow broke their internet connection
5. they had to attend xmas parties and were too drunk to log in

There were some events that we could not extend past Phase 1, unfortunately. Extending all events in Phase 1 would have been a much more extensive fix, requiring much more time to thoroughly regress. Given the time sensitive nature of the event, we extended what portions we were able to effectively.

So phase 1 bugs out rather early, and with no real in-game information provided by Anet, people stop at Noll because you guys (late last night) post saying Noll will be extended.

So people stop in phase 1 not realizing other parts of phase 1, that seem like they should happen subsequent to Noll’s quest, are actually totally different things that could be done at the same time, but are also bugged.

Come the next day, when you extend Noll, you choose to NOT extend the other quest because it’d be too much work?

And you only announce this well after people find out in-game (with the time spent and frustration gained) on the forums?

If you want some critiques, here’s a few:

1 – One time events should work the one time they run.

2 – Information should be provided in-game instead of via Twitter, Facebook or the forums.

3 – Don’t be so stuck on an artificial timeline for any future events. This is a sequence of 3 one time events, and so far 2 of them (for many/most people) haven’t worked properly. Will tomorrow’s work? Hyping something to “not be missed” and then having it fail only makes you guys look bad.

4 – Information like that in your post that I quoted should be provided BEFORE people waste time finding it out.

Yes, they are. Back when they were slaves of the Stone Summit, there was a revolutionary leader named “Molenin”, and it kept going from there. They work for the collective and have a city named Molengrad, always go on about their military power and how they rose up in a glorious revolution, and hold public rallies about how awesome their communist society is.

…unless he server hops. He just got the game a week ago. His goal was to 100 percent the map. A justifiable goal, can be done with time. Until I told him how the map works in Eternal Battlegrounds.

He was actually quite frustrated. The server I’m on has been blue for the past month now with no signs of an actual color swap any time soon (we are going to be in this tier for a while at number 2). Eternal Battlegrounds is very defensive and our cluster is VERY competitive. Rarely, if ever, does one color actually take another colors keep. I’ve seen it happen once.

So, anet, any changes any time soon on this? What about random colors every week? No one cares if they are blue, red, green, supposedly the tactical advantage is the same. It would bring more people into WvWvW too as they would pop in for there vistas then maybe think its cool and stick around.

I feel even worse for those on servers that get stomped. They have zero chance to get world completion.

More regular colour swaps is a fine idea although I’m not sure it’ll solve all your problems.

But I agree with the larger point that making WvW count towards 100% explorer is a poor choice. It undermines WvW by having people run around collecting things instead of fighting, and it undermines the exploration gameplay by making explorer-types hang out in what is traditionally their least-favourite kind of content (PvP).

How can you foster a gaming community when you deliberately exclude part of that community, some of us are casual gamers sorry we’re not elite enough to enjoy all aspects of them game.

I tried using the paper as you have suggested, Knifemare, but it seems that norns don’t use it that way, at all

Let me, as a man of the world tell you a secret. After you go to the toilet, and do number 2, it is very wise to use toilet paper. It makes your underpants, and friends last longer.
