The Walkers and the Whispers, ANVIL ROCK
Stand against the smelly Charr and vote for someone that has your back as well as your best interests and Tyrias at heart ! Vote for Kiel!!!
Interesting that you chose a THIEF to represent one of the candidates … Hmmmnnnn ….
As opposed to a useless Ranger?
That’s right. I went there.
Hey … it’s only an island if you look at it from the water.
Stand against the smelly Charr and vote for someone that has your back as well as your best interests and Tyrias at heart ! Vote for Kiel!!!
A Thief ? That’s… unusuall . And says a lot. No thank You, but no
. Pirates or not, I don’t want more thiefs in administration.
I recall a certain Charr calling Gwen in GW1 “mouse”. It all fits.
Gwen was historically gassy.
Like I mentioned in other thread, Probably another god awful jumping puzzle planned to last us another 2 weeks with hit F 500x for a 5 point achievement reward
I pass by there every so often, and I had taken notice that there seemed to be some new spoken dialogue between the citizens in the area. Things heard in the deeps, etc. I had made a mention of it but no one really thought much of it at the time. Guess this confirms there is more to it than was expected. (I do appreciate Anet takes the time to add in these small details over time. Sure, you might have to be at the right place at the right time, or have to interact with something you didn’t notice before. However, it really does give life to the world and keeps areas from growing stale.)
Actually the new dragon quest lines and the other 2 continents will be free. That’s the point they are driving with the living world and gem shop. The gem shop is there so they can make money and keep producing what we and they love. Right now they haven’t dropped in any contenents is because they are closed off because of the dragon crisis. And these lil minisodes are small stories that are like filler in anime as well as small windows into the next major story arch. After the other 3 dragons in tyria are killed it will be safer to sail to the other continents, but still fairly dangerous because dragons have awoken in Cantha and Elona as well. They will be dropping more proffesions and classes during the living world events but don’t expect to see another continent till Tyrias dragon crisis has been taken care of. And those that complain about there being a cash shop? Would you rather they just stop supporting the game and left it as is? I wouldn’t want to work for free and I don’t expect them too either. Recently I read a article that stated because of the micro transactions and the sales of the game they are giving us everything we want for free and the stuff in the shop isn’t pay to win either so why do we complain? This is by far one of the best games out there right now and with everything it’s a win win for everyone. It’s a win for them because they are getting paid to do what they love and it’s a win for us because we are getting content for free that other games charge you for. The living world does so much to make this game feel alive and more fun then other games. I mean would you rather just sit on your butt and wait just like you have to in WoW? I have friends that kitten that once their done with the quests there is nothing to do and they hate WoW for it. Guild wars living world makes it so we always will have something to do. I love this game for that reason. I don’t get bored with it and it’s a investment that pays for itself and keeps giving well beyond it’s worth.
If you had some friends that quit the game, if you think of it like this you’ll know why.
you goto a restaurant and order food. Food hasn’t come out in over 1 hour, what do you do?
Now think of it like this, you buy a game and they promise something, but they kept you waiting for a whole year not telling you a thing, what do you do?
Depends on the food. I’ll wait 3 hours for something cooked by Gordon Ramsay.
Products always promise something, if you buy something for the “promise” you will always be disappointed.
I think it’s a mistake to make such difficult content temporary. They can always bring it back later as a fractal and use fractal scaling to create a much more challenging difficulty.
Content that is only around for a couple of weeks, especially a group dungeon, should be easily accessible and able to be completed by everyone, especially when it’s a big part of the story.
The dungeon is basically fractal design, intended to be repeated and perfected multiple times by organised groups and tailored builds. Something like that shouldn’t be limited to a two week period.

so from reading most of the posts I see that many people got a ticket within 50 chests. I opened about 3 thousand chests and just got one ticket from the last 10 that I bought. I farmed most of the chests. What I would like to see is the availability to trade the candy for tickets. Even if they cost like 2,000 candies for one, I would be fine with that.
I agree with miku, the answer to all of your salution was simple things don’t go the way you wanted The world will never circulate around you. Just because you spent some money to try to get something doesnt mean your gonna get it. And 50€ wont convince them to give you a skin. Try 5000€ maybe they would give you a 100% chance of getting it, if you cant then stop complaining. I’ve spent more then you guys and opened as much as many of you and got nothing I’m not crying.
Well, maybe you weren’t crying before, and we do appreciate how brave you’ve been up to this point – we’ve all been there! – but with this post you’ve joined our ranks. Welcome!
You’re right, though, the world will certainly never circulate around us. And that’s fine. Most of us – or at least, those of us who are not politicians or, say, game developers – don’t expect it to. But this isn’t the world, now, is it? No. Far from it. This is a game we bought to play to have fun. And for many, a considerable portion of that fun can be found in acquiring cool gear for our characters. You, of course, understand that, or you wouldn’t be here.
I’m sorry you didn’t get a ticket after spending so much and opening so many. We can’t all of us be lucky all the time, even though anet is doing a wonderful job of teaching us that many of us can indeed be >unlucky< all the time. What a valuable life lesson. Perhaps I should reassess my views on the purpose of MMOs. Perhaps, after all, they are not a source of mere ‘fun’, but are a wholly new way of teaching us about life and existence and our ultimate place in the grand scheme of things.
Yes. Yes, I think that may very well be the case. Brothers, sisters – rejoice that we did not receive a ticket! For in not receiving a ticket we have instead received…
The Truth!
ArenaNet doesn’t care if you are happy when playing. All they care about is that you are playing. If that means skinner box conditioning, time gates, massive grinds and RNG gating all the new content, that’s what they will do.
So what you’re basically suggesting is to give everything to everyone so everyone will be happy, yes?
Removing ridiculous RNG and grind does not mean giving items away. Compare obtaining a dungeon weapon set to obtaining a Jade weapon set. Obtaining a dungeon weapon set has a set reliable way to obtain it, it requires you play a specific dungeon (ensuring there is a healthy active community playing specific dungeons and being rewarded for it) and it is a reasonable amount of effort to obtaining a weapon. Also consider buying a SAB weapon skin with baubles, 50 baubles was a considerable grind (especially considering the content was temporary and rewards would be forever gone) but players who wanted them could earn them by playing through the new content. This kept players playing the content (even if this specific design encouraged skipping almost all of the dungeon every day to get dailies done) so they could get weapon skins they wanted. Now the Dragon Coffers aren’t tied to specific content, just random loot piñatas around the world (the challenge the holographic minions put up is trivial so they are essentially piñatas). It doesn’t encourage players actively playing in open world – the drop rate of the tickets is so low, only the most efficient farms stand a chance of obtaining them. It’s festival specific content like a dungeon, it’s just mobs that always drop lots of loot, but now you get coffers. I’ve opened over 2500 coffers and I have nothing but a tonne of holographic minis and stacks of candy to show for it. I invested so many of my resources to attempt to obtain this temporary content and I am walking away with nothing.
I’ve been playing GW since 2005 and nothing has bothered me as much as the RNG model ArenaNet has adopted for temporary content. Almost every weapon set added to the game is now following the trend of RNG gambles with such low odds that I will never see what I want. I have no problem earning rewards or playing to game to obtain what I want, but after opening over 2,500 coffers all I see is an insurmountable wall. I won’t obtain this item, or any other item which uses the same model (and going off of the Flame and Frost and Southsun weapon skins, this is how they have chosen to implement all future content). The message this sends to me is that this stuff isn’t for me. This game isn’t for me. All that hype about content updates every month but the actual content rewards aren’t accessible, they are locked behind and insurmountable wall.
To people who say RNG is good, I don’t understand how they can think it’s good when someone opens over 2,500 coffers (I’m bad at maths, but assuming 2 silver a box – current price and their low point, 50 gold) and that person walks away with nothing. ArenaNet had a post where Colin Johanson talked about how much it sucks doing a dungeon in other MMOs and walking away with nothing. That’s what, an hour of your time? How much time do you think it takes to acquire 50 gold? To acquire 50 gold worth of coffers? How is it fun or exciting to those people, who worked really hard in game, who tried really hard to acquire this item, how much fun is it for them to blow so many resources on something and walk away with nothing? That’s the situation their current system is built off of and it’s even worse for people who spend real money.
With time limited content and a new weapon set every month, I have no kittening clue why anyone would think these weapons would be common. In 12 months time, assuming they keep the current pace, there will be 12 different weapon sets that you can’t get any more. Instead you can play the game hard core for a month and invest every resource of your time into obtaining an item and still walk away with nothing. This is actually happening to people and it sucks. It’s not a very fun game and it’s made worse when content disappears forever if you miss out.
Removing RNG and unreasonable grind does not mean giving rewards away. People have got to stop perpetuating that myth. I’m not even excited about next month’s content. Going on the current trend, all I’ll get for my time is worthless junk while the shiny stuff is randomly given to people who probably don’t even want it. The RNG stranglehold ArenaNet has over GW2 is suffocating all the fun in the game for me.
Concerning the ‘lolz you guys obv never played MMOs before, MMOs are always buggy lolol’ -part: There’s exactly 1 reason stuff gets released with such bugs: People like you. If everybody was up in arms whenever they screwed up like that, stuff would change and future releases were better. Luckily for them, there’s enough people like you.
I don’t think you have ever programmed anything and tried to test everything that users can maybe do wrong. Because you can spend much more time with that then with the programming, and in the end the users will still make something that you never in your wildest dreams could have imagined.
So the choice is more to live with bugs in updates, or get new updates maybe once in 6-12 months instead regulary. And even these updates will have bugs of course.
With all the complaining going down on these forums I want to hereby create a topic where a more positive sound can be heard.
First of all some constructive criticism towards certain aspects of the Dragon Bash:
- Love the Dragon Ball minigame BUT could you guys plz start to use a group up systematic for minigames like that. Nothing is more fun than to be able to play with your Guild mates rather than random strangers.
- The amount of Zhaitaffy that people need to accumulate in order to get the holographic dragon wings is too large. This is proven by the fact that the wings can be bought directly from the BLT for about 14 gold at present which is in fact cheaper than to buy the candy in order to get the thing from a vendor.
With that bit of criticism out of the way I did the continuation of the storyline yesterday and have to say that the Effigy burning ceremony along with the chatter between various characters that was going down was highly enjoyable. Characters were introduced, the dress up of the ceremony was nicely staged and the way we as players subsequently had to supply an escort and fend off attackers was nicely put together.
The effigy burning, while a bit repetitive, as with the pinhata bashing/firework launching, can be done throughout the month giving us 2-3 weeks to complete it all so that’s something you can do while you quest, are on your way to do dungeons etc.
I’m interested to see how the storyline will continue today with the interaction at the Dead End in Divinity’s Reach.

Lol…thanks to all those who stickin up for a dude…but it’s all gravy and mashed potatoes…1 aspect of the internet that you’ll never get rid of is online bashing which in my honest opinion is 1 of the funnest parts of the internet…but anyways.
I am using a dell dimension 9100 that’s over 10yrs old and running xp service pack 3…cause that’s how I roll. So settings gotta be low…but don’t be mad cause I can run a game like this on an old PC and have it run super smoothly and you can’t ^_~.
But enough about that…akamon that’s exactly why I made this post ^_~.
Yes, most people buy $2000 game PC’s then choose to lower the graphics to the absolute lowest setting. They do this because they feel that 300FPS is much better than good graphics.
Look, this person is trying to make a post that might add some extra fun into the game. I’m sure the last thing they need is to be lectured about their graphics settings. Lets assume this person is doing the best with the PC they have, and focus on the post ya?

you won this argument, congrats and +1.
@OP great idea, i’ll try it out soon.
Lack of life. I tried it once, the graphics were great, but there was never any sorta rewards, the story sucked and pvp was completely unbalanced.
I chose GW2 over other mmo’s though, ‘cause it has so many things to do, the gem store/RNG ain’t that bad and lot of the male characters are pretty much fan service.
We can dance if we want to. We can leave your friends behind.
Cause your friends don’t dance and if they don’t dance, well they’re no friends of mine.
Then you have games like Guild Wars 2, which I enjoy, but still uses RNG in lock boxes, and arbitrary achievements and temporary content to keep people logging in.
Of them all, Guild Wars 2 is the best solution for me and my style of play…but it’s far from perfect.
I have to say that even pay-to-play MMOs are among the cheapest forms of entertainment, hour for dollar. Consider other games that cost like $60 and you spend a rainy weekend or two playing them, reach the end of the game and either play everything over again on harder mode or set it aside and buy another. Cable/satellite tv with the premium packages can run over $100 a month, my Rift sub was $100 a year.
And, yes, sometimes the free games kind of push you towards pay content, but if you just log in once in a while to relax and aren’t a “gotta keep up with the Jones family next door” type person you don’t ever have to spend a penny on them.
And for an absurdly low price they throw new content at you on a semi-regular basis, other games might get two or three downloadable updates which combined cost as much as another game.
I’d say it’s a pretty good deal, all things considered.
I’ve seen this posted before. It’s not unexpected. It’s been a pretty bad year for MMOs in general. I don’t really expect next year to be much better.
A lot of the problems with MMOs today is the unrealistic expectation of players. I’m not talking about people who want harder core games or more sand box features. I’m talking about people who go into games expecting them to be relatively bug free, or get updated faster than possible or have more content faster than is possible.
Sometimes I feel like Scotty on the Enterprise yelling, “I can’t change the laws of physics. This repair is going to take some time.” lol
Curious to hear how other players are reacting to these changes.
I’m happy, since it appears that those nerfs bothered the farmers. It’s always good to see people who believe they deserve a reward for doing mindless content that could be done by a bot being forced to watch how their so-called “effort” and “dedication” is, in the end, completely worthless.
My only concern is that it’s not enough. ArenaNet really should change the game in order to apply a Final Solution to farmers. Until then, those nerfs are the best we are going to get.
An unnecessary stab at people who do not share your vision of an RPG, perhaps?
Well then, I am too looking forward to the day when ArenaNet changes this game completely and turns it into FIFA 14, just for you, and mails you a PS4 controller.
Just wanted to say thanks a bunch for the free mini’s Anet! They’re pretty neat.
I love how people can’t just get something without assuming there is some dark motive.
Thanks ANet for the thank you and please ignore all the complainers. We will keep supporting you.

These are being given out in waves to avoid a strain on our mailing birds. They are not super birds!
GW1’s Black Moa scavenger hunt took time, but there’s very few players who didn’t like it. I did it about 10-11 times myself.
And it was just about going to places and getting stuff. The really interesting part was going into Sorrow’s Furnace.
Imagine if they did that GW2 style.
Yeah, it’ll take way more time and resources to do that some random box that you grind waiting in front of a spot because if you walk the enemies will get killed in a blink.
But it’ll also be way more fun. The kind of fun that you’d rather have every 2 months instead not-fun RNG boxes every two weeks.
This isn’t entirely related, but I really hope you yell out “Citizen!” whenever your devourer does something he shouldn’t.
Hello im having a difficult time browsing the forum through my phone I wanted to ask if after the 28 is the evwnt still on till next week or something about that kellach? So hard to type with one hand im in a hospital right now
That is some delicated gamer right there
I’m glad we’ll see more lady Kasmeer in future. <3
Well I can’t imagine seeing more of her unless the game becomes rated 18+ ^^
I heard Canach started listening to emo and hanging out with venom spiderman.
