Next time a thief outsmarts your gang try using your brain and aoe instead of chacing something you can’t see….

It’s because of whiners like yourself that thieves lost they’re burst capabilities, now you’re trying to remove the thieves survivability, what’s next? The ability to log in?

Most will disagree I’m sure, but it’s true. People want thief nerfed down till it’s no longer a class in this game.

People cry about something a thief did that other classes can do, that isn’t at over powered. Forget the other class(es); it only matters that it is nerfed for the thief.
We get nerfed.
People cry about something else that they were completely fine with a month ago.
We get nerfed.
People cry about something else that they were completely fine with two months ago.
We get nerfed.
People cry about something else that they were completely fine with three months ago.
We get nerfed.
People cry.. you get the picture.

Bye to shadow step next month I guess, plus a further ‘build diversity’ update that removes all our other stun breakers, following a monthly nerf to our damage, conditions, stealth, boons blah blah blah. Thieves shouldn’t have a healing skill or elite skill because they have deceptive utilities. Thieves should have 1 utility slot not three because one skill can be used twice within a 10 second window. Thieves shouldn’t have an energy pool because they have hard to catch (LOL). Deny it now but it’s bound to be said eventually.

And while you’re at it, buff warrior damage and nerf ours; nerf our evades but let a ranger keep their’s on top of spirits; nerf our stealth but let a mesmer have it on top of clones and phantasms.Thief will be gone from the game and still have people complaining it’s too over powered.

Who ever designed thieves were just one of those spoiled kids that would cry if they didn’t get whatever they want. so enough with the ramble, I said i’d be short.

Thieves IMO are completely busted in WvW because of how intangible they are to catch.

Another point. I assume that english is not your first language, but posts that rely on “I am really angry” and “you are a spoiled kid who cries” have never changed anyone’s mind about anything, in any language.

So…Kasmeer was around the Nightmare Tower, was getting tired, exhausted, and amidst all that mental burden, she could still maintain that illusion.

kitten, the freakin world is in danger! Put some cloths on and reserve your powers for kitten that really matters! Maybe if you stoped concentrating on that loose excuse of mental garment, you could have figured out what to do up there without me pouring the only interactive object on the only obstacle in the chamber.

Don’t you get it? This is how mesmers roll. If they wore real clothes they’d have freed up enough magical energy to usurp all the major races and take us over by now.

Nah it’d be the opposite. When they’re naked and using a simple low powered meditation on illusionary clothing they don’t have to try to replicate actual clothings’ appearance onto their illusions, making it easier to create them.

She’d have to use extra power on duplicating her clothing onto her illusions otherwise they would be too weak or not look identical. Then there’s the adjusting your illusions to different clothing when you change it, as well as keeping track of other changes in battle and duplicating the appearance of damage, dirt, blood, etc. Easier to just make everything an illusion and not worry about it.

so i don’t need to worry about getting ascended armour on my mesmer?

something wrong with me

because people are just entitled gamers these days.

People feel entitled to a good product in exchange for their money? Shame on them.

I used to cobble hard-drives out of spare copper wire and piano string to get my copy of Doom running on MS-DOS, and that’s how things should still be today.

Gah! So entitled!

You have the attitude that you are entitled to everything the game has to offer without actually putting in any effort to get it.

Exactly! Games should be a tedious and boring grindfest. People should never expect anything else from an MMO.

You don’t play an MMO if you’re not prepared to do lots of tedious boring grind to get to the fun parts. In fact they should just replace the fun parts with more grind so we can separate elites from scrubs.

I remember the old days of DOS. Boot disks and duct tape. Still play Masters of Orion/Magic and a few other “classics”. DOSbox ftw

Azure has it right, but the word “entitled” carries too negative a connotation. I would probably say that those who haven’t traveled down the long dark road of MMOs or gaming in general take for granted much of what made games fun originally for so many, so they don’t see why things are designed the way they are. ANET has made a gem of a game that combines some of the best aspects of MMO gaming and tries to push the envelope at what should be expected of MMO gaming in the future. They have stumbled along the way here and there, but every game developer does. Overall, I think they’d done a great job and being a MMO vet makes me appreciate all the more the things they got right.

As for the OP, it sounds like burnout. You get this way when you have really tested the boundaries of “too much of a good thing” and you need to back off from it for a little while. Its like eating Pizza every day. It could very well be your favorite food and you may do different toppings with every meal, but eventually… you feel the need for more. There’s nothing wrong with the pizza, but give it a break for a bit and try it again later.

See, one of the beauties of GW2 is how casually you can play it. Take a month off. Go play some console games or check out some older PC games that you might have put off as they were ridiculously expensive when they came out. Steam sale would be an incredible idea for this. GW2 updates every two weeks, so if you wanted to, you could log in for achieves on patch day or just let em pass by. There’s no meta achieve for doing all the holiday achieves (thank goodness for that), so unless there’s a reward worth having, eh… its all good. Check back on Dulfy’s page from time to time to see whats added.

The takeaway here is: blaming the game is a shortsighted judgement when you just need a break. The game was designed to where you can easily take breaks and check back in for patch content as you like. Take advantage of the season for some great gaming deals and come back when you’re ready.

What did ANET do when the sheer mass of the event ZERG was too much for the server to support?
They had to SPAWN MORE OVERFLOWS!

This is why I suggested that the so-called “harder” parts (the champion walls, for instance) should be shunted off down a side path with, perhaps, unique achievements and the potential for unique rewards attached so IF there’s a sufficient zerg around they can tackle it, but all the rest of the story stuff around is still reasonably navigable by a solo player.

Let the intervening mobs scale as needed, but introduce some downscaling to correct it when the number of players in a given space has waned for a while. I’m not privvy to why this seems such an alien concept to the devs—seems entirely obvious to me—so I’m going to assume there are pitfalls I’m not aware of. Even so, getting around them seems a worthwhile job to tackle.

We have dungeons that force a 5-player limit that serve perfectly well as sites for “harder” content as the devs can upscale as they see fit knowing there will (usually) always be exactly 5 players facing off against their designs. Open world is too volatile for this sort of thing in its current state if the devs really want people to participate out of choice and not just when carrots are dangling before them.

I sometimes wonder if those that are claiming the most fervent that the game is too easy in PVE are not playing but simply trolling those that really play. This by getting the devs to up the difficulty until it reaches absurdity.

I haven’t posted much here, but have read a bit and it just seems wrong. I play this semi-casually (and my better half plays too). We get our daily most days, get a monthly most of the time, do some of the living world events, although we’ve never completed one. We do fractals, dungeons, world bosses and recently started WvW after we got some ascended gear (rest is exotics). We have a good grip of our builds with the help of some of the awesome people in the community and all their debates back and forth on what’s best. It’s helped us a lot build something we find fun and competitive. We really like WvW but find sPvP very dull. Have never ever crafted in a MMO – even this GW2 has made me enjoy – skills of 500, 500, 400, 400, 400, 400 on my toons says it all.

I have played most MMO’s since EQ and the last time I had this kind of fun was back in DAoC – although GW2 would win for me even if DAoC was technically up to date. This is the best MMO I have ever played and also the best game in general I have ever played. In daoc I got one toon to max level but it took me a while. Since then GW2 is the first game where I have reached max level before being bored silly. I have always wanted to enjoy MMO’s as the concept is amazing. In GW2 I have 2 lvl 80, two lvl 70+ and a few alts between 20 and 30. GW2 is the first MMO where I actually enjoy the game itself and not just play for the next little virtual reward until I can’t be kitten d.

GW2 has done everything right with their design. The flat level progression, limited item grind to have a viable toon – and all the rest.

I’ve seen the new MMO’s on the horizon and while the new sandbox philosophy is much to my liking i’ve seen so many promises and so poor deliveries so very often since EQ – but GW2 delivered and gave me what I wanted. I am certain when I try out some of those new mmo’s I’ll return to GW2 simply because I’ll want the new game to be just like it.

I haven’t had this kind of fun for such a span of time ever before in a video game(have played since beta).

Thank you Arena Net for this great game. We’ve had so much fun with it and even the oldest daughter (7,52 years old) messes around in queensdale once in a while just exploring and looking at stuff.

.. Seriously though.. Great that you have thoughts on how to improve the game. It’s cool that you let Arena Net know when you are displeased with decisions they make. But for the love of god, please speak like you would do to a person in real life. It isn’t going to be less offensive because you sit safely behind your computers screens.
The forum would be a lot more enjoyable for both us and Arena Net that way.
I know a lot of people in game who stay away from the forums, because it’s to frustrating to read through all the posts. And can you blame them?

They made it quite clear last year that the holiday events will largely be the same each year. This has nothing to do with the Living Story.

Also keep in mind all the rage about them having a new story for Halloween this year compared to last.

No it does have to do with Living story. They put no effort in to the holidays anymore since their main concern is to try and make living story work. People were mad on halloween because the solo instance was a kittening joke compared to the scavenger hunt which was actually interesting and fun.

What’s more, they could have found a way to leave the scavenger hunt in the game. Festivals in GW1 always used to compound quests from previous years.

Give people a different back item skin for it each year and I’m sure it would give people an excuse to play through it again with very minimal work. Also it wouldn’t feel like content was being removed needlessky, never again to be seen and keeps the previous year’s back item unique and special.

I’d like to see one additional feature added to the festivals each year just to make it feel like they’re getting bigger year on year, just like the GW1 events always did. Maybe that’s too nostalgic of me?

I’m PLEASED that Wintersday is mostly the same as last year. It means that new players get to experience the event in all its glory, older players can revisit whatever content they most enjoyed in the past, and because it lasts for 6 weeks, that’s plenty of time for people to get festive at their own pace, while not feeling pressured to dump everything for the Living Story.

All we need now is confirmation that past achievements can still be completed by those who missed it the first time, and I’d call this a perfect update.

God, give it a day. You can’t make such an assumption the very day the patch releases, it’s just the start of things. Good grief, can you wait at least a day before trying to make this patch look like the spawn of the Devil himself?

Apparently, you didn’t get the memo. Complaining about GW2 has officially been registered as an e-sport. The earlier and more frequently a participant complains about GW2, the more points he gets. Also, if you complain about fixes you asked for, then you get bonus points. The more points you earn, the higher your position on the leader board. Everyone knows that the all the kool kids occupy the highest places on the leader board.

remember when cinematics in gw2 were actually animated scenes and the characters were actually speaking and emoting, rather than just a slideshow looking like it was put together in 20 minutes?

Perhaps not 20 minutes. It takes time to create even such slideshow. But lets be honest. The subpar quality is the effect of their crazy release schedule. Static cinematics, shallow content, lots of bugs due to lack of testing. Its not that Arena lack skills to do it properly. They have some amazing and talented people out there. But they are trying to do something impossible. You cant release a deep and polished content every two weeks. You just cant. Not at that scale. I hope this madness will end sooner rather than later.
