It´s about time the word “mount” gets the kitten-treatment in here I say!

It’d be hilarious to see topics of “Can We Get Kittens?” or “Kittens PLZ”
I want a kitten. I’ll have to settle for my arctic fox though.

Many alts; handle it!

Interesting… there are a lot of potential issues with this system, but no point in complaining about them until we have the full details. Overall though the idea is cool.

It is also one of the most elegant and clever ways I have seen what is essentially a server merge handled.

In one fell swoop Anet have got rid of one of my largest issues with the game…

Thank you and give the guys who did this a payrise…

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/

It will also negate the need for server merges due to low population and help the overflow issues in a single stroke. It’s pretty much how things should have been designed from the start but better late than never

So kittening happy at this. I hated the server system and felt it was a step backwards in tech terms from GW1. There’s still the EU/US divide to breach but this is a quantum leap from where we were.

you also forgot:
give us a different button for talking to NPC and Looting.
“hail stranger!” “what can i do for you?” “how can i help?” you can let me pick up my dam loot!

account UNLOCKED gemstore sickles/salvage kit etc,
sure they’re account bound but when you have 10 or more characters it really sucks hopping between characters to find out who has which and then put them all in the bank just because you want to have a little play on one of your characters!
they need to add it to an unlocks window like the hellfire/radiant gear and the zenith weapon skins so we can easily grab them on alts without the need for 5 minutes of relogging,
what is the point of a quality of life real money tool when it takes more time relogging and getting to the bank multiple times than simply buying ingame tools?

I second the ‘Dungeon NPC’ notion here. For real, WTF is the game doing prioritizing talking to a stupid NPC over rezzing a downed ally or picking up a Conjure Weapon? Not to mention the huge dialogue box that pops up and has to be manually closed. So frustrating.

Oh gods, the dialogue boxes popping out during fights because you wanted to res someone or area loot. Make them go away…

If I make #1 disappear within 24 hours, will you send those thousands of gems to my account? It’d be much appreciated. Thanks.

2 and 3 are old quality of life things dealing with the game just not remembering our preferences. They finally dealt with the text in the upper right corner opening and closing of its own volition. It’d be nice to see them apply the same fix to the Inventory and Bank. And I can’t count the number of times that my chat channel has changed on its own and I told the whole map “BRB – potty”.

It is funny when all these “Thank you” posts comes from people that have spent zero dollars in game and requesting more updates.

So now only people who have spent money on gems are supposed to get updates?

But I have to agree with the OP that GW2 ain’t that bad at all, especially when you try another MMO for a couple days you might just start to appreciate GW2 a bit more

There’s quite a bit of hate going around the community towards this game from what I can tell. I just wanted to take a small moment of time to thank Arena Net for making this game. For a lot of people, myself included it’s more than a game. It isn’t perfect and I don’t expect it to be. Keep up the updates

I love it…. people complain when the changes are bad. People complain when the changes are good because they aren’t as good as you had hoped. Really people. If you are just looking for a way to complain go do it somewhere else.

Anet makes a lot of mistakes, I won’t be one to deny that. But when they do something nice (even if it is more geared towards newer players who die more) how about you just say thanks and move on. By complaining about everything you devalue the importance that they place on forum goers advice. If we complain about everything, then they won’t listen when we are complaining about something that actually is a big deal.

People like the OP wants to much… If you aren’t happy with this, you will never be happy… What did you expect? 100 new armour sets, 10 new dungeons and 54 new zones?

Account bound legendaries is something people have been wanting SINCE FOREVER. Same with the wardrobe. I’m not going to lie. i would take this changes over a new dungeon ANYDAY.

This is something i have wanted forever and will change my experience for the rest of the games life span. I play alts, and i have 1 legendary. This is incredible for me. A dungeon and a zone is something i would be done with in the matter of days, and never go back to. This is different. This is amazing

Did ANet really hype it up?
Sorry I don’t go out much so maybe I missed something, but all they did was release a teaser and then slowly release more and more info regarding the patch. I don’t remember ANet specifically going out of there way to hype anything. Of course like I said, don’t get out much so meh.

Holy Trinity and Compromise

Again with logical fallacies:

1. A majority of players on Guild Wars 2 does not equate to a majority of a target audience. What these numbers are, I do not know, but I imagine ANet knows and pays close attention.

2. In-game sales won’t happen if people aren’t purchasing and playing the game. Causality and that kitten.

3. Annoy a majority of players that are currently playing, gain a sizable new amount of players. If two players joined for every player that left, that would still be profit.

ANet has done well in the past with marketing and public relations, at least in the essence of targeting their specific audience. Guild Wars got revitalized with the Guild Wars Trilogy sales shortly after Nightfall’s release and EotN was advertised really well to incite returning players.

I’m sure ANet keeps tabs though and won’t go around making massive changes to their game unless it’s absolutely necessary – but the original point remains unchanged, it’s going to be more than just a “this game isn’t for you” issue if it is detrimental to profits.

You’re just gasping at straws.

1)Guild Wars 2’s target audience is NOT consisted of players that play other trinity MMOs. If that had been the case GW2 would have launched as a traditional MMO.

An in game store means that your target audience is mostly consistent of your player that are already playing – because as they’re playing they’re also paying. It also means that if you stop catering to the players that are playing they’ll stop paying. And you don’t want that.

2)People HAVE bought the game. And people WILL buy the game – but you’re sadly mistaken if you think they’ll get more profit from the people that might migrate to GW2 if it turns trinity than they do from the people actually playing the game NOW because it has no trinity.

Guild Wars 2 is playing for a niche. If it goes for a trinity it will have to compete with ALL the trinity games for people’s money.
If it goes for no trinity then it has almost NO COMPETITION since there aren’t a lot of games doing this.

And you can get pretty much all of the no-trinity players – which is a lot more than fighting for scraps against games that have years of experience and a well balanced and consecrated trinity sistem.

3)Because you’re assuming 2 players will join for each one that leave. But that won’t be the case. You can only pull SO many people into an MMO. GW2’s hype is gone. They might have been able to pull this at launch but a year plus into the game’s life you’re not going to catch those huge numbers of players because the hype machine behind the game is gone or just barely there.

Think about it – GW2’s policy right now focuses on player retention – that’s why we have daily achievements, daily crafts, weekly guild missions, daily this and that. So people keep coming back day after day.
It’s not that much about getting NEW people ( which is always a goal ) but keeping the people you’ve got in game and engaged – spending in the gem store.

There are more ways to make profit than you’d imagine. New skins, new content – all of it can be made into profit.
Reworking a game that works just so that it’s similar to other games out there seems like a totally bad move – especially since your entire game concept – your whole sale pitch was " We’re different from those games ".

Negative publicity drives people off a game. Forums filled with negative feedback, huge community backlash and disappointing the player base are a guaranteed recipe for failure.

Also – personally – do you notice the players that have been posting " we don’t want the trinity in this game " over and over in this thread ?

“Too little too late” for people who have already decided they don’t want to play the game anymore.

Hmm….
Does the opinions of people who have already made up their mind about leaving still matter? I mean wouldn’t it make more sense to focus on the people who are still around?

They’re always goihg to be adding to the game and changing things up. It’s what Anet has always done. Even fairly major changes in GW 1 like adding the hero system, and new PvP types.

I’d like to offer the correction that adding and changing the game is what ALL MMO developers have always done. They pretty much have to if they want to retain player interest.

Yes, and the funny thing I see with these “too late posts” is that Anet has been listening to the player base and acted on it. These feature patch changes have most likely been months and months in the making. But what do they get in return? “You didn’t listen to us, but well you did, but it is too late now.” I think some people believe that all these new things were just point and click changes made last week by Anet. LOL

I don’t know if you remember ~19 months ago, when forums were chock-full of threads begging, nay demanding ArenaNet release the game. Threads upon threads upon threads.

If these features are 19 months too late, just think how people would have felt waiting another 19 months for the game to release. Having already waited ~5 years.

For me? I would not give up the pleasure I have had these last 19 months in exchange for another 19-months’ wait, and these features. But, that is just me. =)

The minority that wants the trinity has to realize this is not the place to ask for it.
This game was founded on the very idea that the trinity has no place here.
The majority of players who play GW2 do NOT want the trinity. This has been consistently proven in all threads where this topic was touched upon.

You have to realize that if this game changes that way there’s nothing really separating it from any other mainstream game out there.

Here’s a counter solution to your OP – why don’t you accept GW2 for what it is and if you can’t / won’t then you can still go and enjoy those trinity MMOs without trying to change this one into whatever you want it to be.

That’d be nice.

Why not let the builds be trinity? Nobody wants trinity! Nobody wants to be waiting in LFG asking for a half spec healer type compromise build any more than they want to be waiting for a full trinity healer. That is not better than the status quo and never will be better than the status quo. If nobody needs a compromise healer, like now, then nobody will ask for one and the role is redundant anyway. You can go into the dungeon as a healer if you like right now. There’s nothing to stop you if you want to play with like minded people.

If a group needs more healing, CC, condition cures, finishers, mobility, etc then they can already change utilities and weapons to do that. Trinity is dead. RIP.
