Yeah, they nerfed the train. Everyone that has played this game since launch knew this was going to happen because they nerf every single farm. There’s always a publicity reason, though the real reason is to limit players’ ability to earn money in game therefore increasing their sales of gems/gold transfers.

I am confused as well…because the new skill point trait system, we need a ton of skill points to ‘buy’ our traits now. The quickest way to get the extra was the trains…now what? Sorry Anet, but your implementation of getting the traits was ridiculous and then to charge us way more gold AND skill points, then you take away the simplest way to get the points…I am baffled.

While I do support gutting farm trains….the reason I don’t buy. ‘We want to make players learn the game’………flash forward 50 hours and behold the challenging content that will test the skills you’ve honed over the past 80 lvls….stack skip stack skip stack skip stack profit -_-. I’m sorry but there’s no reason to learn to play the game-just learn the ex….ah…don’t want to get infarcted again…erm…particular ‘clever use of walls’ for the particular dungeon and you’re good.

Also….for the love of God, realize that the game has very little difference in terms of motivation for playing, than say diablo 3 (i.e. it’s all about the loot-you missed out big on the rpg aspect for a great many people) so make the loot fun…I would add ‘again’ but that would be incorrect. Nerfing champs? Fine. Removing champs? Also fine. Diminishing returns? Fine again. Now that you’ve done all that…make it so when we do kill stuff it actually gets us excited, and I’d be A-OK.

Ah…basically supporting what Chrono said.

It seems evident that you do not even do Teq or Wurm. Teq/Wurm and Karka get completed within 15 minutes by a coordinated group and you’ll be swimming in rares and loot chests if you made the effort to get organized.

Funny thing that. I did Karka queen and Teq just tonight. got a grand total of 4 yellows. Your “swimming” statement is laughably exagerated.

Where are my gem sales? I want gem sales! Nerf EVERYTHING!

Anet made decent loot appear so rarely that players became akin to starving people, desperately gorging on champion boxes in the faint hope that something appeared in them. The champ train was a symptom of player “reward starvation” and a large amount of learned helplessness. Why do complex events like tequatl and 3 headed wurm when those give next to nothing in return. Far better to simply run round in a boring circle while watching tv and to collect a hundred champ boxes in the hope of something by raw force of numbers.

GW2 is built around giving nothing and taking all our time and the culmination of this is events like the new queens gauntlet, which are the perfection of this punishing philosophy.

We learned that the mystic forge hates us. We learned that RNG hates us, but now we don’t event get drops in our events for the rng to happen in.

The game hates us – that’s how I feel at the moment and I don’t understand how it can have come to this. I want to play, but its as if I am being told to go play something else – why is this?

If they want players to focus on learning the core game experience , they need to give players much better rewards, not few boxes and a green wtf is that kitten.

Increase reward for team effort and you will increase number of players willing to do it.
If you take reward away from events no one is going to play it.

Anet has nerfed every farming idea/location ever found in this game without fail.

I’m confused.

Champs are buffed to drop boxes/bags
Champs drop rare skins. Cool looking BTW!
Three major trains are established.
One is nerfed (understandable) due to players letting events fail
Two remain for awhile
Then champ drops are nerfed (especially those coins)
FG chain is partially nerfed (Trio)
QD nerfed too the ground (possibly to the center of the earth one might say)

I’m not much affected. I participated a bit in the chains, but I would get bored too quick and got sick of the drama (especially in QD – /clap clap btw). So I can rightfully say I am not whining about these changes.

But What the Heck!. I’m confused, if you buff champ loot and then discourage trains. You encourage zergs/trains, but nerf the one most accessible. Was the intention all along to kill the occasional champ for loot and that ultra rare but ultra cool skin?? Should I participate in FG, Orr, EotM chains or are there nerfs incoming there too? Ban-hammers coming??

So what ANET is your vision about champs and farming them? What is your opinion of zerging and trains? Why encourage them through game design and then nerf?

I’m so confused??? 0_o

To be honest anet has a bad record with balancing rewards. I dont think one knows exactly what they will do, but all i can say, you probably wont feel very rewarded when they are done.

Arenanet doesn’t like to have rewarding content because it makes people less likely to buy stuff from the gem store.

Crikey, so many self righteous kittens preening over the removal of champs from Queensdale. Who gave you lot the right to tell people to play the game your way and only your way?

I can understand if champ trains are not to someone’s liking as a play style, but so what if others like doing this for whatever reasons? Champ trains, no matter where they are running, have absolutely nothing to do with you. unless you are in one.

The QD was a mindless zerg – not doing anything useful and annoying the players actually trying to level. I am happy that it was done – too many level 80’s just doing it BECAUSE!!!

That’s odd because I can recall many times when I was in the train and stepped aside to help people with skill points and such when they asked for help. I also know of many times when others in the train did the same to help new players out.

We get it, not your style of play but no need to make stuff up because you don’t agree with it.

There is bound to be some upset over this initially – but for the long term, Arena Net have done the right thing. It’s going to cut down on the skewing of the game to new players – it’s going to dramatically cut down on map chat fighting and swearing (coming from both sides of the argument) and existing players will hopefully once again find the explorer in them.

Yep because nerfs are always a good thing, LOL. Maybe next month your preferred method of playing will get nerfed. After all no matter where you play people might argue and talk bad in chat. So, best nerf the heck out of everything people like to do in groups to avoid that. Good grief.

I have not even done the QD train in several weeks and was never a frequent player in the trains. However, I am very anti-nerf and don’t like the idea that Anet is trying to funnel players away from things they may enjoy.

Here is another good example of nerfs gone too far:

They have never claimed there would be no grind.
They have claimed there would be no REQUIRED grind. Which is still very much true. You can experience every single piece of content in the game without ever grinding anything.

The only thing that does not require grind is getting to max level… After that you can choose where to grind for gold or achievements.

I’m running out of motivation to play. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be looking forward to.
Wvw is starting to feel stagnant. Everything in the game is extremely routine, there’s still heaps of maps and dungeons I haven’t explored but there’s no point joining a dungeon unless your going to follow the patterns.
I can play dark souls if want to pve
And the lore in gw2 is way too cheesy and simple for me to take interest.

This game has heaps of nice features but personally I feel no immersion
And I can barely tell the difference from one guild to another
Hopefully someday I can be bothered to spend my 600k karma and however many laurels I got. ATM I can’t be asked getting to strait of malchor

Isn’t this supposed to be a ‘sandbox’ game? Why is every other way to play this ‘sandbox’ game met with aggression, suspicion and gratuitous nerfing? I’m starting to feel like I’m doing a LOT of things morally wrong and unscrupulous just by playing the game.

Yeah it is a ‘sandbox’ game with different rules.

Anet, “Hey don’t build that sand castle over there.”

Player, “Why what’s wrong?”

Anet, “Well that side of the sand isn’t where we want you to play.”

Player, “But I like it over there. I’m enjoying myself.”

Anet, “Sure you are but it is more important for you to play in the sand over here.”

Player, “Why?”

Anet, “Because that is where we need you to play now. We put effort into making an area for you to play over here, not where you are.”

Player, “I don’t care about that area over there. I’m having fun where I am now.”

Anet, “Too bad, we are taking your sand away from your area. Now play over here like we told you.”

If players want to attempt to champ train, that’s fine.

If a smaller group of players sees oak up and decides they wanna take it down, that’s fine.

If it messes up the train, that’s fine too.

Basically no one owns the rights to the events. The train doesn’t get to complain when someone else does an event, and the other players in the zone don’t get to complain when the train does an event.

The train drama sure does make map chat amusing though.

Lorewise, dervish is a no-no. All of their magical power came from prayers to the human gods, that creates a way too big of a conflict to retcon to make space for dervishes of other races.

Also, dervish didn’t use light armor, they used medium.

Hello my friend you are mistaken, it does not use medium uses light to image looks

Membership in this Robe = light

Ummmm. You’re mistaken buddy. Dervishes used medium armor in gw1. Why do you think you have 70 armor and not a base of 60? In gw1 armor classes were Heavy – 80, medium – 70, light – 60 for base values. Insignias/runes could add or take away armor but yeah.

completely unrelated note- those runes and insignias being used there are completely terrible and not viable. 485 hp assuming you’re using those runes/insignias on your open slots on a dervish you have I believe 2 superior runes (not counting vigor runes) on which is suicidal. Based on the skills I’d say superior mysticism and scythe mastery. If it’s not 2 superiors its a superior and a major rune.

Follow the darkness into the depths, it’s more fun than the light can provide.

Seems fair to me. Most of people aren’t interested in getting AP anyway.

Great Idea: Personal Legendaries

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: yolo swaggins.2570

yolo swaggins.2570

So my friend just recently went on rant about precursors, legendaries and RNG and spent a whole 15 minutes telling me “they should have been Accountbound on Acquire”, “most of them are ugly”, “You can just BUY them”, etc. But midway through his venting, an idea sprung up in my head that might help with his (and possibly other players’) grief.

I give to you Personal Legendaries!

The way it works is you first “prime” a weapon by using it through gameplay. It will take some time to get the “Primed” header on it but eventually you will see it. This is the precursor that YOU create through experiencing the game.

Then you have to craft a “Body”, “Mind” and “Soul” and then chuck that and the primed weapon into the Mystic Forge to create YOUR very own Personal Legendary. When you receive it, you will be asked to give it a name. From then on you can ping it chat to show it off or whatever. :D

Here is how the creation will play out:

Item 1: Primed <insert weapon here> (for initial shape of weapon)
Item 2: Body of <insert dye color here> (for shade/glow of weapon and size modifiers, no residual particle effects)
Item 3: Mind of <insert top tier material name here> (for weapon particle effects like trails and footfalls)
Item 4: <First gift>ed Soul of <Second Gift> (for body particle effects and sounds)

How to get Item1

  1. Pick you favorite weapon.
  2. Kill things (or just do ALOT of stuff) with it until it says Primed. The more the odds are against you the faster it’ll be primed. (i.e. soloing a powerful world boss or w/e)
WARNING: Priming a weapon is done by a hidden rating and a modifier. As you continue to use the weapon(s) the modifier will slowly increase allowing you to Prime the weapon faster. Unequipping or modifying the weapons in any way will reset this modifier! Priming requires a personal connection with your weapon. :3

How to get Item 2

  1. Get Gift of Color.
  2. Get 50 of one color of dye. (this will lightly shade your weapon that color)
  3. Get 50 of a Lodestone. (this will surround your weapon with a corresponding particle effect when unsheathed. This will not trail and the color of the effect will be the same color as the dye you used.)
  4. Get 150 of T6 or 50 of refined T7 material. (determines other shape modifiers like length, width, depth, etc.)
  5. Throw everything into Mystic Toilet.

How to get Item 3

  1. Get 100 of Lodestone. (This will determine how the weapon trail will look like i.e. Paintbrush, crackle, digital, etc., color is based off of body)
  2. Get 100 of T6 materials. (determines flash effect when unsheathing)
  3. Get 250 of unrefined T7 material. (footsteps, color off Item 2)
  4. Get 1 Gift of Exploration.
  5. Throw everything into Mystic Toilet.

How to get Item 4

  1. Get a Gift of <whatever>. (determines type of body glow and unsheathed effects)
  2. Get another Gift of <whatever>. (determines sound made on attack.)
  3. Get a Bloodstone Shard. (Or a Gift of Exploration if it is a two handed weapon).
  4. Get a stack of items worth 100g or more. (because I ran out of ideas)
  5. Throw everything into Mystic Toilet.

Once you throw these 4 items into the mystic toilet you get YOUR very own legendary that you designed your way. These will be account bound but so worth showing off. As a bonus, I think you should be able to “dismantle” your legendary just in case you think it could be made differently. So I will also suggest this:

How to Dismantle

  1. Have a legendary.
  2. Get 50 Elonian Wine
  3. Get 1 Bloodstone Shard.
  4. Get Mystic Salvage Kit.
  5. Throw them into Mystic Toilet.

And boom, Primed weapon, Body, Mind and Soul are taken off. If you want to salvage said parts you just throw them into the forge too but you only get back some of the materials you used.

Finally, I present to you “Eternity Tier” PLs. All you simply do is make 2 legendaries of the same weapon type and then put them both in the Mystic Forge. The end result is a weapon that has the first PL’s shape and effects by day and the second PL’s shape and effects by night.

What does everyone think about this?

Precursors, Legendaries – These thing should have never been tradeable, BoE, buyable with gold, just account bound and BoP. I also tremble when I think you acquire in in the centre of town from some RNG gambling station.

Sadly, it’s now impossible to implement with current state, but possible with upcoming legendaries.

Don’t get me wrong, but all that “Legendary” way should be more bounded with lore, personal challanges and questline.

If people arent lucky and just want to buy precursor then give them chance to do it at set price for lets say 500 gold.
If someone gets drop he can sell it for 400 and get nice profit, but as it is atm its just BS, the cost of your legendary depends on class/spec you chose to play.
If i would play with focus then i could make legendary already but now i need 5 times more gold just because of weapon set i chose to play.
And i would much rather invest gold in actual game than just give it away to some guy who maybe just got lucky and killed random mob while leveling, why would he deserve the gold i was saving up for months.

That sums it up. Everything is a ripoff of something, but that doesn’t make it a bad thing.

Seriously, If you think that anything to do with Zombies, Undead, Rage Viruses, etc. in the last 60 years is ‘original and unique’, you should go read one of the original sources, which technically isn’t even a zombie story (I am Legend).

For another example, look at all the Modern stories about Space Marines and galactic warfare….then go read ‘Mobile Suit Starhammercraft Effect 40K : Combat Evolved’….er, wait, I mean Starship Troopers!

All Modern interpretations of Elves and Dwarves are influenced by Tolkien’s stories in some way, which also indirectly affected almost every aspect of the Dwarves from this game. Its inescapable.
