Configs have been updated. There should be less of a spread in ladder positions now.
Part of the reason this is happening is because this season matches on both MMR and ladder position. Someone could have a lower ladder position, but have a very high MMR. Since they have to sit around a long time waiting for close MMR players, their ladder search range is also increasing at the same time.

2. The pip system needs to be adjusted so players don’t lose a pip when facing a premade of 4-5 players.Also what about losing pips when a team member dcs has this been fixed? Considering you’re making other changes I would hope that was a priority.
1) LOL, welcome to real software development. You probably never compliment how well everything else in this game works or acknowledge how much it is tested. When everything works, no one even notices. As soon as something breaks or doesn’t work as well as expected people rage real hard.
2) NO!!!, the fair matches can very easily happen between a premade and 5 randos. Often the people complaining the most about premades are the same people that give up as soon as they see they are fighting a premade.
Last point is valid.
We pay them money we expect things to work and when they do we do why would we go out of the way to praise them? Conversely when things don’t work we complain. Becuase that’s what sensible people do when they pay for something and it doesn’t work. I don’t work in the software industry I don’t care what challenges they face. I wan’t what I paid for. I am a paying customer.
This season, in my mind, is done. I say experiment now so season 2 can be great.

Anet don’t have proper balanced matrix for their classes and stats. They don’t have proper balanced matrix for their match making. They really need to get a real Mathematician and stop trying to improvise gaming system.

Considering that the beta for the new maps was basically just a publicity stunt, and they ignored all of the feedback from the beta testers, this doesn’t bode well for the future of WvW.

Map timers is not “casual unfriendly” it is consumer unfriendly.
All the WvW community should join a BnS server and just open world fight there.

So summing up what they’re saying is early 2016 is until april of this year, and we will not see anything before that time. So much for WvW being the major focus after HOT.

Please anet explain to me why you think I should wait 6+ months for this big update when you wont even talk to us about it. WvW is kittening garbage right now I can’t even bring myself to log on. The combat system and my server community, were the last two things keeping me playing. The current meta with banners is trash. I wanted to test my guilds skills against other guilds not see who grinds carebear land harder. Hopefully I’ll see some of you in Crowfall or CU because its become apparent the WvW most of us were looking for wont be happening.
As a primarily wvw player since launch, and a carry-over player from GW1 the announcement today is disappointing as it seems the decimation of the wvw population will continue unabated. With the vaguely announced timeline, I am not optimistic there will be much of a population left for the population balance fixes later this year. I have slowly moved my two accounts up through the tiers, donating more gems to Anets efforts, in order to attempt to find consistency, or pseudo balance, but it is not uncommon for myself to log in during NA prime and find no commanders tagged in either Tier 1 or 2, when over year ago I could find multiple commanders at any time in Tier 3 – 6.
The launch of HoT, for which I bought two copies, was also a disappointment – not in as much the number of features it offered, but rather the lack of insight demonstrated by the company into the combat aspects of the game, when the combat is the truly defining feature of this potentially great product. The terrain and introduction of non-player elements ran counter to 3 years of feedback and the arguable failure of EotM to attract genuine interest. The borderland waypoint changes demonstrated to myself a clear lack of practical understanding of the current state of population and organizational attrition in the game; attempting to force more play across maps on the assumption that there are actually enough commanders or guilds left to support multi-map coordination. Nothing needs to be said about the class imbalance introduced as well, which created a virtual pay-to-win structure in the game, driving both wvw and pvp further into boring metas.
So, as much as I can understand trying to consolidate changes, whether to raise efficiency or minimize roll-backs, I have a difficult time seeing the purpose in Anet investing another year into a cure for a patient that will be dead by then. The attrition increases at a rate such that by the time your solutions are released, they are no longer appropriate for the situation. For example, the DB map might have been a successful addition, despite the reservations of myself and others, 2 years ago when the game had the population to support the dynamics.
Your metrics are polluted with assumptions, and your game mode is on life support. If you make no plans for further intermediate assistance into QoL changes for the wvw community between now and the overhaul, including the population distribution, save your time and money and shut the mode down. Your time would be better spent with your other game modes, as you have clearly spread yourself too thin, and adopted an insular approach to your customers which serves to assist nothing other than fragile management egos.

Thank you, Colin. Finally you post that your team is not able to understand WvW players and make WvW a game mode your players want to play. So we can move now. Good luck with ruining it futher until it finally dies.
It’s just disgusting.
By the time they finish the overhaul there will be no players left, they will jump to another game. After 2 years i don’t see myself playing the this kind of WvW for 3 months more. Something will appear.
Yeah. Even if the overhaul is GREAT (and i doubt that), later 2016 will be to late. If they rly had something great for us they would present it at least to some whiteknight streamers. I rly doubt that they have more than the changes from the holliday preview.

I log in to Gw2, do my dailys and every day passing by i become more and more reluctand to do evenb this little thing.
Why Chronobunker is cancer? Facetank, rewind, facetank, rip. Same as Necros second bar; doesnt saves from an angry mob.
When i play with torment and confusion pvp, they call me cancer, they say that i am a noob, it is a free win, bla bla bla. Now i see like them play with Chronobunker and they say nothing, of course, it is a more subtle way of gaining why ?, because if you do not get to kill me, they say “is that then you are a noob”, what is the difference? the way to play with damage conditions bother them, and Chronobunker assures the victory, and tests your direct DPS.
I only ask that give more love for mesmer scepter (mostly trait With confusion and torment), and other ways to play than ever “distortion” spam. Chronobunker yes, but not spam “distortion” with Well of Precognition, it is very cancer.
Can’t they put Confusion on crit back in so condi can actually have a choice of weapons to use instead of being forced to use scepter?
Nope, but we can buff scepter in a meaningless way some more!

Since GW1 the whole Mesmer concept has been THE profession I’ve enjoyed. Basically, if I can’t play Mesmer, I don’t play.
But it truly is depressing about the seemingly “double standard” that happens with it.
- Adding a 1 second delay to “Into the Void”, but yet DH get high damaging instant cast traps AND grant them stabilty AND lets give them an “unblockable” pull to utilize said traps.
- Add a delay & bug fix to Sword #3 clone into Illusionary Leap. Meanwhile lets give Thieves and Revenant and instant “shadowstep” that can pass thru walls and stone, ignoring immobolize effects AND doing damage in the process
- And still to this day.. Consume Plasma is still a thing. How about letting Thieves steal Consume Plasma from Elementalist? You know the profession that ACTUALLY has accesss to all those boons. Maybe then Ele’s wouldn’t rule the roost so much.
Sorry, my frustration with this game is getting too much. Not sure how much longer I’ll be around. Tired of all the disappointment.

This is what you get when you let a pve dev team create new stuff for pvp modes. It’s like asking your local baker to fix your car.
Another thing that should be mentioned is that when if you buy HoT, you’re voting with your wallet. They absolutely suck when it comes to interpreting metrics. So if they see people are buying HoT, they’ll assume it’s good and come out with more of the same. If their sales numbers are drastically low, they should be able to figure out that means that people aren’t happy with their product. Well… hopefully. Knowing Anet, they could very well just assume it means people want more LS stuff, especially in WvW, because “If you’re into WvW, you’re really into PvE” rather than the reality of “If you’re into WvW, you’re forced to grind in PvE or be dead broke.”
As it stands, I can’t honestly recommend coming back to WvW, or GW2 in general. And I certainly don’t recommend giving Anet any money. They’ve said they plan on releasing some sort of big WvW update “soon”. But….. we’ve heard that for years. They really need to pick a new lie, because that one’s lost even the novelty value it had. If they do end up releasing some sort of big update, expect it to steer directly into the HOT trainwreck and finish WvW off for good. It’s just downright pathetic at this point.

If it’s WvW you’re interested in, do not buy HoT. The game mode is in its death throes and Anet has given no tangible indication that they are going to act.
And even if they do act, do you really think they can bring it back from death? The same people who put it in the state it’s in now? Not a chance.
Don’t waste your money.
- Stability nerf
- Buffs/power creep to all classes
- Condition re-work/tweaks
- Profession overhaul/‘balance’ changes resulting in pirate ship meta
- Post-HoT aka Desert(ed) Borderlands map including the plethora of cheese PvE minded mechanics
- The re-packaging & re-selling of existing guild upgrades (primarily +5 supply function) locking it behind the new Guild Halls which require an ungodly amount of gold & grind to re-acquire
…All of which inevitably chiseled away at skillful, fun, smart play in WvW be it roaming, zerging etc.
To me, a lot of the elite specs in HoT are much more advantageous to use in a WvW setting than their core versions.
ANet has not detailed anything specific regarding HoT required for WvW other than access to Guild Halls for all the things you can use in WvW, though someone else in the guild could just as easily supply those things.
Something of value for WvWers who buy HoT in the possible future could be a WvW mastery track; I think ANet did mention auto-loot not working in WvW is intended? Either way, it doesn’t work. And it’s much needed. So they should implement a WvW mastery track.
I honestly wouldn’t get any hopes up. It’s ANet. We all know WvW is the red-headed stepchild of the game modes. There’s your honest answers as best as I could.
The only reason to buy HoT for WvW is access to an Elite spec and some things in the Guild Hall.
Edit: Also access to the Elite Revenants #2 Hammer spam.
Wait for the revamp. Which will happen sometime in the next thousand years. I know, too trusting of me.
HoT destroyed WvW and it is very doubtful that the devs will be able to fix it. Fixing requires some sort of competence in the game mode you are working on. But all the anet devs care about is PvE grinding and crappy Esports. WvW is beyong their abilities, as the current situation has proven so clearly.

i was thinking banners, air strikes over capture points like wvw has, and mindless collecting events in the middle of the map. We all know anet wants more pve in wvw, so why not have more pve in pvp?
