Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
“Relax, " said the night man,
“We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "

New dailies don't seem to accomplish goals...

I think the point of the ‘kill 40 Krytan baddies’ dailies is to get 80’s out of Orr and into other areas of the world. You head to a Krytan zone you don’t have 100% on and start killing. Then you come across a few others doing the same thing, a DE pops up, you all join in, kill a Veteran, finish that heart quest nearby while you’re there and boom…you’ve just immersed yourself in the game and community, broken up the monotany of farming Orr, and gotten something in return for your troubles. And you’ve also managed to make some headway toward other daily achievements and map completion.

I don’t think dragging people to zones, whether with new dailies, world bosses, or with guild quests is going to help significantly with keeping the entire low-level world populated and events busy. Nor do I think that should be the purpose of the daily…I think it should be an incentive for people to log in, see what their guild is doing, and act as a ‘starter’ for their activities for however many hours they care to play that day.

YES!!! We need this! If you think we don’t then you are noob. If someone took his time to learn to play and wants EFFICIENCY in dungeon he should not suffer by playing with noobs.

And here is the reason it should not be Implamented. Thanks for summing it up for everyone.

Thank you by showing how good are you.

Umm what?

Here is the thing, I have played a game with gear checking and gear scores and dps meters and people wanting you to have cookie cutter specs. The whole time I played it I was able to use non standerd gear (pvp gear) and a pvp spec and still out dps, not stand in fire and learn the bosses script as fast or faster then the hardcore pve expert. All this was fine in guild where people know me and how I play and accepted the fact that I did not need to be carried. The problem comes in when you want to put becuase either not enough guild members are on or they are doing something different at the time. So if I feel like running a dungeon I can but if they implement gear check I’m going to have to justify my gear and build to some guy/gal who read on some website that since I play “x” class I should have “y” build and “z” spec? kitten all that noise. The best part is I could with my non cookie spec be the one carrying the “expert” thru the dungeon becuase skill, knowledge of your class and proper timing mean way more then what spec you run.

Sorry for the wall of text but pve elitism is a hot butting issue with me.

It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!

Tougher open world NPCs=change of dev focus?

I exceedingly rarely choose to post on forums other than to make bug reports as I regard the particulars of game mechanics to be the dev’s prerogative. I simply vote with my pocketbook — if I approve I spend money, if I don’t then I withdraw my financial support.

I am posting my opinion here merely to make my voice heard as the appearance of the “new and improved” nastier Krait and Orrian Risen troubles me. Is the uptick in open world PvE difficulty a manifestation of the dev’s choosing to cater to a different audience?

Whether it is or not is not what troubles me, as aforementioned, I regard this as their prerogative.

I am well aware that part of this game’s audience has been clamoring for increased difficulty while using adjectives such as “faceroll” to describe the current and past difficulty level of open world PvE. I have no problem with this as, after all… “different strokes for different folks”.

I will say this though: I find that real-life provides me with all the “challenge”, “difficulty”, and “hardness” I care to stomach. I pay for entertainment to relax and indeed allow me to “faceroll” as it were to my heart’s content.

Up until now the open world PvE experience in GW2 has been mostly satisfactory from my perspective but I am concerned that this is beginning to change in a manner that I find displeasing. I don’t do dungeons as I don’t find them to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I tried PvP and WvW and found them to be likewise not to my taste.

What I do like to do in-game is to roam the open-world exploring all the nooks and crannies. I thoroughly enjoy finding the hidden places in the beautiful world the devs have crafted. For me, the combat is a necessary evil in many ways – I do enjoy it but it is definitely not my primary focus and oftentimes is merely an obstacle to overcome so I can see what is “over there”. I don’t particularly care about loot, and I detest “farming” or “grinding”.

Up until now, GW2 has provided me with a niche that has permitted me to enjoy myself in my own fashion. I wonder if this is coming to an end…

Just so there are no mis-understandings: I am speaking out because I want the devs to know that there are folks like me in the audience for their game that do not care for the “new and improved” Krait or the fiery new Risen Pirates because they make the game less enjoyable for “us”.

The choice of what audience will be favored is for the devs to make. Just be aware that not everyone finds a good “faceroll” displeasing

TL:DR – Not everyone likes more difficult NPC’s in open world PvE. Krait and Risen were already aggravating opponents… They did not need to become more aggravating.

^ This in dungeons found a lot of folks perceive you as dumb if you don’t have a certain set of skills or whatever. This is codswollop as it’s all about how you USE your skills and what type of player you are. I say player skills>skillset/build.

You can run explores w/o armour in any dungeon and never go down. I do this sometimes to show players that’s it ain’t really about a build or whatever but how you as a player approach and execute a plan.

@OP you as a player are not solely responsible for the other players. Sure you can keep an eye out for other players as when to apply books etc. You should never feel you are responsible for everyone. I think that may lead to panic, you do not have to use your skills. Some skills maybe situational but helpful when it may arise.

Just remember you ain’t responsible for the entire players well being. You don’t have sole responsibility for everyone.

If anyone needs help with dungeons I’m happy to help. On the EU flipside though on Fri to Sun.

However if you want to run dungeons there’s some awesome folks that will help you regardless over at Operation: Union.

I absolutely feel for you. I play five characters, three of them are now lvl 80: Necromancer, Ranger and Guardian. My guardian runs around swinging swords and that is just fine when playing alone. When in a group I feel pressure to play in some other way that the rest of the group wants. Therefore I prefer not to use the Guardian in groups.

When she was around lvl 40, I took her to Ascalon a few times. The last time ended it for I got yelled at for not having the right skills learned for dungeons. The guy thought that Guardians were useless without that one particular skill. I didn’t have skillpoints at that tiem to learn it, I did later. But it left me feeling people expect miracles out of Guardians.

I think the best thing you can come to realize is that Guardians are not a Healer/Tank.

They are not the person responsible for keeping the party up and alive. They provide support, they make the rest of the party more effective at what they do. But at the end of the day, if you get downed in a dungeon, it’s no ones fault but your own. (There are exceptions. There are always exceptions.)

These people are not your responsibility.

But, ya know, if you’re not doing anything else important, and someone falls over unconscious, throw a couple protective abilities in that general direction and try and get them up. It’s the sporting thing to do.

This is more social anxiety than a mere game tactic… If people get downed they don’t start blaming the guardian (and if they do, you may as well kick them right then and there, you don’t need those sorts of people in your party.) the best thing you can do is to keep yourself alive, as long as your up, the battle isn’t over, you can res other people, draw aggro, by protecting yourself you’re protecting your allies.

Is there anything I can do to keep it together when things go haywire?

Soldiers, sailors and policemen have been asking themselves this question since the dawn of time.

The best advice that I can give is to make an effort to breathe slowly and not to worry about things that haven’t happened yet. Keep telling yourself that you will remain calm.

Keep picking your targets and taking your shots. Events will sort themselves out.

It also helps to remember that it’s just a game. People may get upset if there’s a team wipe, people may even try to blame you for it, but in the end no one’s actually be harmed or killed. It’s just a game.
