That is only question for me right now. If we look the wvw, the game has really gone in a wrong way long time.

1. Wxp,
While wxp gives goals for wvw-players its negative update for few other ways:
For first it really encourages people to use only 1-2 toons. Account bound Wxp would make so much sense as the skills are not in any way char skill set based. They are just general skills that everybody can use. People think making lege or ascended weapon is hard. Lege takes 1,5 months, ascended weapon 2 weeks. Getting new toon to level 80 -> 3 weeks. Getting on toon maxed out at wvw -> much longer time. So long, that you don’t simply bother.
For second it encourages people to run with karma train. Pvd is imo most boring game mode in gw2. (Even worse than those great pve events, where you need to light 1000 bonfires, or carve 100 000 pumpkins. At least those have bright colors…) At wost situations there are 2-3 karma trains that run circles at capturing all the keeps/towers and still evading each other. That to me isn’t idea of wvw.

2. The Ruins
Did you guys think this ahead like this: “Lets give boost to those who can hold these ruins for certain amount of time, maybe it balances the situation as we usually place server A who has 500 wvw players and servers b and c who have both 150 wvw players against each other. Maybe it’s a tool that those small servers can win those already highly uneven zerg vs zerg fights.” Well it’s not. It makes that side that has advance to win those fights even harder.

3. Flying Russian, glichwalking German
The game is over a year old. Why on earth these problems still are up… Do those reported guys even get penalties? Anything done for this matter, as its still happens multiple times a night at my current mach up. It’s a really annoying to be a defender at the map while some thieves still glichwalk trough the walls.

4. League, matchmaking and rewarding.
So, silver league is kind of ¤¤¤¤¤. There are severs that have at certain times a day a hundred times more players than our server. Yes, hundred times -> we have like 5 peeps across all 4 maps. At our prime time we can somewhat hold our own, if we pool all our players to one map. While our opponents have decent zerg in all maps, round the clock. And now I have heard that you plan to adjust prizes to the placements at the league. Wuhuu, way to motivate those players who are stuck to very uneven matchmaking. 2k vs. 2k vs. 150 players’ inst fair. And I don’t it’s a fun being any side of it.

5. Season Achiements
While Achiements are great way to get more people to try out the wvw, those should not encourage people to play against servers need. Like use 500 supply leads easily to situation where we can’t hold any of our keeps, as they are drained from peeps that need to repair wall that is destroyed by trebs. Achiements should not encourage to bad behavior.

To me, this feels Anet do not listen its players. And even worse, they don’t play their own game to know what their updates feel like.

I was actually planning on staying away from this topic, but its getting cold outside so why not poke the flames a bit more?

Is Desolation still the Gold league tier server you used to be? No, and there is no reason to not believe you lost some of your core WvW guilds and players, but I don’t think that is the main point people are discussing here. The main issue people have is the idea that you deliberately lost more points than you would’ve lost naturally just to get into silver league where you would have an easy time. Well we already know you tanked. Several people have “admitted” that you wanted to get into silver league (probably with different motives though). Now the fact that it is followed up with comments about it happening more or less on its own anyway is irrelevant, since there was an actual decision being made. And why would you want to wait with trying to salvage your WvW community until you hit silver league and not at the point in time where this mass-exodus happened? Do you really want to build your community on fair-weather players?

Now I know most Desolation players will claim that they weren’t expecting to win silver and it just kinda happened in the end, but I always found it interesting that you lost the exact amount of strength that put you in the gap between being destroyed in gold league and dominating silver league. And i know, you have a large PvE population, but there are plenty of servers with a high PvE population so I don’t buy that being the sole reason you turned it around.
I was actually looking a bit on the matchup history on MOS and in the last matchup before the start of the season Desolation actually faced of against us (Gandara) and UW:

Gandara was actually winning that matchup up until around Tuesday, where something happened to the Desolation nightcrew. This was three days before the start of the season so it couldn’t really be the influx of PvE players that did it? Now I’m sure plenty of Desolation players can give me an explanation for that, but you have to admit it does look a bit suspicious how it coincides with the point in time where Desolation could no longer regain enough rank to get back into gold does it not?

In the end though I guess we will have to wait until the end of season one to get a feel for the real strength of (the new) Desolation and who knows maybe we will meet again in season two, be it in gold, silver or bronze

I agree with Coldin, a simple wave, get the puzzle done, and those ‘PVE’ players can just go back to PVE or join your zerg. Don’t complain about PVE’s in WvW if you just kill them and not allow them to do what they came to do and get out quick.

Since once again we have achievements that involve doing the WvW jumping puzzles, I would like to remind some people of a bit of common courtesy.

If someone /waves to you, it means they are not looking to fight. If you wave to them, it means you are not looking for a fight. Please try to respect that some people may just wish to get through the zone and get out.

I know people will say that this is a PvP zone, so they should expect a fight. I would just like to see fighting that doesn’t involve pushing off ledges, hiding behind corners, or general camping. If you feel like getting into some 1v1s or 2v2s, the very beginning of Obsidian Sanctum can be a great place for it.

If I see someone in a jumping puzzle and they don’t bother me, I won’t bother them. Outside in true WvW though, anything goes.

Bloodlust gives 1 point per kill. Add some mf/exp/karma/wxp bonus (25%) each orb will give people incentive to get the buff and fight over it. What it shouldn’t do is give the server with higher pop a advantage during peak hours. Take gold league as a example & TC. Any server that fights BG/JQ/SoR/TC outside of T1 and T2 doesn’t have the population to fight for bloodlust and fight for keeps/towers so people choose towers/keeps and few straglers fight for bloodlust. The straglers are outnumbered and soon give up on bloodlust which the higher pop server keeps for majority of time. The zergs of smaller pop servers are not only outmanned but have to deal with 3 orbs now too.. It doesn’t make sense. Gold league will have horrible matches because of this guaranteed.

TLDR
Please remove stat boost from bloodlust and swap it for mf/exp/wxp/karma boost instead to help the lower pop servers fight higher pop.

So other then Thieves that rely on the games most broken mechanic anyone else think that it is LONG over due that Anet pull the finger out and fix Stealth? Is it not bad enough they have obscene damage and movement they have to have the most broken mechanic in the game.

Sure i know the Thieves will come screaming “L2P” and such but anyone else think this mechanic is seriously in need of being fixed. Why is it that Stealth in other MMO is a “Use at right time” mechanic but here its “lol spam, spam, spam” mechanic…

I used to spend hours running supplies, upgrading, and building siege, because I thought it was useful. But when a zerg PvDs into a T3 in under 10 minutes, those hours feel completely wasted. So when our commander tells us to not bother defending because “we’ll flip it later for wxp”, I have a hard time arguing with it anymore. Frankly, it makes it seem pointless to try and defend anything, and if there’s no reason to defend, for me there is really very little reason to capture either, since I don’t care about wxp.

Agreed, and there are also gonna be times one does the dirty job and sits at a keep for hours on end, call out an incoming well in advance only to hear the commanders on map chat say, “Let em take it, we get it back later”. Well you basically just wasted hours watching it, haha….so yes in reality more “rewards” are gain re-flippin, so let the opposition grab and join the crowd to retake it later.

I mean, as much as I agree with everything you posted Oozo. Devon Carver has made it extremely clear that he and the rest of the WvW anet devs don’t care at all about what the forum community has to say about the changes they make to WvW. They are under the impression that we are of little to no significance to WvW as a whole, and that if we don’t like what they are doing, they couldn’t care less if we stop playing. They are literally waiting until people stop playing WvW and numbers significantly drop before they stop this progression. It is sad that they don’t realize, by that time it will be too late. WvW will have just become another part of GW2 PvE endgame and nothing more, and all of the players that cared about PvP in any competitive sense will have moved on.

Oh man this is put better than i could have ever said it.
When i kill someone i do not want it to be because i got some buff, i even limit the food that i use with that in mind as i do not use the most OP and expensive ones.

Hope Anet takes a good look at this..
The buff kittens up the fights no matter what, every opponent you meet that is as good as you will kill you with the buff, and if you have the buff and win you keep thinking what if i had not had the buff. Would i have lost?

It is just kittened either way.

Now you are picking and choosing which artificial advantages you like and don’t like in a game mode that is imbalanced from the start. You’re accepting the possibility that he may have outplayed you but you won because of Bloodlust, but the exact same can be said about gear/food. Unless you consider out-grinding someone = out-playing them, in which case I have nothing else to say.

Nope, not the same.

1. Food/nourishment and such is not an artificial advantage but part of character design and customization. There is a strategy to choose one food over another, or Melandru runes over Soldier’s. Maybe you use Koi Cakes, so I use some lemon grass. Or maybe some poultry to try and burn you down fast. Swap a trait or two and some food buffs and you suddenly have different way of playing a character. That type of diversity is incredibly important to GW2.

The bloodlust debacle is different because it’s not dependent on character design/strategy but on server numbers. There is no thought behind how you design your character to counter that advantage. There is no grand strategy beyond more people. That’s poor design.

Anet’s distinct lack of match making competency makes it all worse. The bloodlust buff MIGHT be an interesting mechanic in a well balanced matchup. However those seem to be few and far between. I can’t think of a single matchup we’ve had in the past month where there wasn’t one server completely blowing out the other 2. My server has certainly been on both sides of that equation, but one things for sure; it’s never been close to balanced. Introducing that buff in this context means that the strong get massively stronger.

Before it didn’t matter to me nearly as much when we were massively outnumbered because it was still possible to go roaming and find some good fights. Now even IF I happen across a small group (which in my experience has become less often since the patch went live) they greatly out power us due to their +150pt buff. It throws any pretense of balance out the window.

2. Outgrinding = outplaying??? I’m sorry but maybe we haven’t been playing the same game. The GW2 I’ve been playing has introduced the insane farming arena known as the Pavillion, the crazy profitable farming events some call Scarlet Briar and buffed Champ drops to where Champ farming in FSG is a regular occurrence. There are no shortage of ways to make significant amounts of gold in a short amount of time.

If you’re suggesting that players shouldn’t have to do anything to get their gear, not even the incredibly simple and easy farming events throughout the world, then might I suggest you go into The Heart of the Mists and do some PvP? Sounds right up your alley.

Having said that, I do believe you could have a point on this matter where ascended gear is concerned. Crafting up to 500 can cost a fortune not even including the time/gold required to actually make your weapon/s. But it doesn’t appear that was the argument you were making.

I hate to pile on since I wanted this buff to work out, but skill groups just got A LOT more powerful when the buffs are up. WvW isn’t meant to be balanced but adding so many new buffs into the mix (ascended, orb, guard killer, guard defender) has accelerated fights into the “what just hit me cause I died before I saw it” mode.

Why do you bother man? This is the exact same reason that ascended gear should never have been allowed into WvW as well but there’s no chance on hell of that being undone. So can’t I see why you would have any faith in them reverting the orb nonsense either.

Honestly, I’m surprised Ozoo. This is way more of a Jscull post than is typical for you.

Well, I actually agree with a lot of PAXA’s positions if not always the attitude. This Orb thing is really bad though, because it takes away the incentive to play for me (and people like me) even if I’m up three orbs. In fact, I have zero incentive to have even number fights when I’m up three orbs. Zero, none.

First, let me say that the new terrain in the middle of the maps is excellent. Awesome job there Anet. You really put a lot of thought into the map design.

Now, with that said. The Orb buffs will ruin WvW for small man fights.

The stat gain is significant for 1v1s, but for 5v5s it is even more of a problem because it is a force multiplier. Good 5v5 teams focus targets. So, if a side has all three orbs their focus target is taking the extra damage from the stats from all of the players targeting him. This is leading to some damage spikes that are just way over the top.

Small man fighting is all about managing your health by going offensive and defensive depending on positioning and who is getting focused. But, now when facing good groups who have good builds and know how to focus target the incoming damage can not be managed or in a best case scenario puts you at a huge disadvantage. The worst case scenario being that you just get blown up.

Now, let’s flip that around. Any good and serious small man out there plays for the challenge. THEY DO NOT WANT AN ARTIFICIAL ADVANTAGE OVER THEIR OPPONENTS. Let me say that again, because it is important and it seems to be something that a lot of game developers don’t understand about us. WE DO NOT WANT AN ARTIFICIAL ADVANTAGE WHEN FIGHTING OUR OPPONENTS.

You see, you are not only ruining the fight for the side that has no Orbs… you are also ruining the fight for the side that has all three Orbs. The reason for this is because they want to know that they just won the fight because they outplayed their opponent not because they had some kind of bullkitten Orb buff.

Bottom line: New terrain is awesome, keep it. Orb buffs are horrible. Replace them with something meaningful that helps the realm win the matchup but doesn’t interfere with open field fighting.

I am trying to “roaming” but is pretty frustrating be outnumbered in small fight 1v2, 2v5, and so on vs a enemy with 150 more stats. I play wvw only and i feel this buff is not minor. 150 to all stats is just too much.

I am just going to trololo, no more wvw mechanics for me, no more capture or siege keeps, no more ruins points or camp roaming. I dont care, i am just to play for trololo, for the lulz. I am going to do what i want to do, no what arenanet want.

Just that.
