Finally! What we have all been asking for has finally come to fruition.
After months of neglect, WvW finally got paid some attention, woo!
I speak for every WvW player when I say we are more than satisfied by the recent single tooltip change which impacts the game oh so much.
They have shown us that they DO care about WvW, and are focused on improving the game mode and eliminating bugs and imbalance, whilst increasing fun and playability.
Thank you ANet, we are totally looking forward to what you will include in future patches. Maybe you could fix a few more text non-issues, we’ll be mighty pleased.
Hi, I have noticed that over the course of my time playing GW2 the WvW forums only really get developer attention when a thread is being locked. Do you guys ever talk about the new content you are making in this subforum, answer people’s questions, or keep us hyped up? I think that the WvW team has completely lost touch with this subforum and the hardcore WvW population as well. The lack of attention that WvW gets is depressing and it almost makes me look forward to leaving GW2 to pay 15 dollars a month to an MMO who actually cares about the non-eSport PvP crowd.
This game had so much potential but then you invented seasons as an excuse to not release any new content or features for WvW for the entire length of the season so as to not “unbalance” anything. Then you let the entire month of December, and now it looks like January as well, go by without a single addition or change to WvW. This means that since mid October, absolutely nothing has happened as far as WvW development, and October’s developments were extremely small and trivial. The last time we got something was the Obsidian Sanctum, and the only reason we even got that was because an ANET employee trolled the WvW community and it was wrapped up as an apology. If he never trolled us, we would likely never have gotten a single addition.
Please spend more time communicating with your WvW audience. You have failed so badly at keeping me interested in your game that I’m looking around hoping another game comes around willing to take my $15 a month for a better experience.

Anet just does not seem to care about griefing, I have never seen an anet icon in front of one of these posts. I dare the new person responsible for this wvw section to comment on why they do NOTHING about griefing.
On my server there are several trolls, reported hundreds of times a month, and ye here they are wasting a complete keep supply on siege.
From the official report function on this forum you only receive an automated reply and after a week or so another automated reply on how they handled your problem.
Customer care right there.
There are a particular pair on JQ that have been doing this since the start of WvWvW season and it has not stopped. You can almost guarantee a major assault will happen when these two show up and start this process. They even claim towers and keep to prevent upgrading or upgrade out of proper order to prevent the use of supplies. They have been reported many time using the in-game useless function and no action has been take yet.
it’s not crying. it’s a legitimate problem in WvW. which…. means it won’t be long before they close the thread to sweep it under the rug. that’s part of the “ignore it and it will go away” method they’ve been employing with WvW since launch.
As a Ranger, with nothing to contribute to a zerg outside of a water field, I’m sad that a profession with so much wvw utility would demand more. =(

(the skills are situational, i usually work with consecrations more, but i also put the signet for more power in easy fights)
cause honestly i got bored of the dps meta build, and its more fun for me to play like this, the green numbers add a little variety…
I usually play with friends casually, doing dungeons, not really trying to do any perfect times and 3 minute dung runs, just having fun, but there are time where i pug so this is for those times.
(i’m not that good of a player so i was having trouble staying alive and keeping my health above 90% for enough time, but now its seems a lot easier)
But I ’ve been reading a lot of stuff about how much AH sucks and stuff like that.
What I’m asking basically is this:
If in a pug group you encountered someone with this build, would you feel like he’s not contributing to the party, or that its dragging the group down?
I’m not asking if you would prefer a dps meta build or this, I’m just asking if you think that this kind of thing is ok too.

They’re going to destroy the environment in which it is the best answer to every challenge – hopefully by adding new challenges where its not the best solution.
It’ll still be the best choice some of the time.
Similar to the magic find swaps. Select a new stat combo for free.
Some of us can’t afford to regear. I/We’ve just about finished grinding for our ascended zerker weapons/armor (in this non grindy game).
The tradeoff people based the “should I craft zerker or pvt etc” decision is not the same tradeoff any longer. Many people would not make the same decision again.

But changing AI is hard and would require work and wouldn’t turn a profit in the gemstore.
It’s impossible to have both PoV and AR and still be able to pick up AH. I just greatly prefer PoV and AR over AH.
Whether the passives or the actives are “better” depends on how you’re traited and what the situation is. In most builds you’ll see these days, popping Justice will at least do something besides just cause burning, whether it be AoE blind/vulnerability or area Might, or both. Add that to a 20-30% reduced cooldown and the fact that it also gives you Retaliation with 15 in Virtues, and by most bets VoJ becomes better activated on cooldown than just letting it sit.
Absolute Resolution buffs Resolve’s passive heal by 25%, which really adds up when you’re stacking Healing Power. AR also affects Battle Presence, so your allies are getting healed for more if you decide to run that instead of PoV. Obviously, it also gives the activation effect a triple condition removal. So, Resolve is very strong when activated with 20 in Virtues and some HP to back it up, especially considering the active heal scales at 0.75 per HP.
Not to say you should just spam Resolve unless it’s an emergency… same thing with VoC. What makes it so strong with 30 in Virtues is the clutch stability (3 seconds base, affected by boon duration) and the fact that it can be made to proc every 30 seconds instead of every 40. Assuming the activation isn’t needed, you’re getting 6 Aegis over the course of a 3-minute fight as opposed to 4. Doesn’t seem like a very big deal, but it does help. I’ve been saved at crucial enough moments that it led to a total comeback because of that proc.

Guardian Specific
- Vigorous Precision is now a 10sec ICD (up from 5sec). Similar traits in other classes have or will be getting the same nerf.
- Litany of Wrath will have it’s cast time reduced. They’re experimenting with 0.5 and 0.75 seconds.
- Healing Breeze will have some of its healing front-loaded instead of distributed evenly. The very first tick will self heal 40-50% of the total amount (exact number still being worked out) and the following ticks heal the remainder to self and allies distributed evenly.
General Changes
- Two-handed weapons will now have two sigil slots
- Sigils of different names no longer share cooldowns. So you can use Battle and Energy and both will proc on weapon swap. The exception is that you can only have one type of stacking stats on kill sigil.
- Some on-crit sigils will now be on-hit. No specifics known.
- Rune sets are getting a complete review. The bonuses are being stacked more toward the 4, 5, and 6 piece. Boon and condition duration increases will generally be increased. Weak rune bonuses will be improved.
- Crit damage is being changed to Ferocity. Ferocity will convert to crit damage just like Precision converts to crit chance.
- With the ferocity change, PvE/WvW damage for full zerker builds should decrease by about 10%.
The reason you don’t see that many guardian changes is that guardians are in a pretty good state. They’re great for support, great PvE DPS, and found on most tPvP teams. At the same time, they’re not way too strong at anything. Other professions are in much worse shape and got more attention. Fixing everything in one patch is near impossible, and even then, it would disturb gameplay so much that it might end up breaking something that’s working well.

But, what I want to know, will I always struggle against HIGH DPS builds even with the ‘more practice and better gear’.

The blackwater build, when played appropriately well (I suppose counting in the tweaks I make when I run it) will never lose in a 1v1 situation to any class other than an ultra high dps phantasm mesmer. That is the single build that can beat it.
As an aside, you generally want to completely disregard anything menace says until it’s independently verified, just a good rule of thumb.

Hello Everyone, I hope you enjoy this write up of my build, remember this is a condition/stealth based build, you really wont be shattering much as you will be needing the clones on death traits (let your enemies kill your clones and phantasms, they will be crippled and hit with many conditions every time they do)
Whilst Playing with this build you will be doing your best to spam as many clones and phantasms around your opponent forcing them to either kill them and get hit by conditions, or leave them and get hit by conditions, all while you are in stealth gaining plenty of boons, healing up and confusing the hell out of them.
The details of the build is listed below, a long side the reasoning behind majority of the choices I made in the creation/usage of this build (remember this is reasonably flexible so feel free to change things around depending on personal preference)

ArenaNet, i love you guys for making this awesome game.
However, can you please explain me how such a big group of smart developers never realized that it makes absolutely no sense that players can damage a gate without bothering to build a ram (or other siege). If defenders bothered to siege up a tower, they should be able to hold it if they outsmarted the attackers and killed their rams and/or cata/treb.
Not only is defending freaking impossible (Blobs just melt gates). It is simply completely unacceptable that the hard work of a dedicated group of people to escort dolyaks to a keep to finally have a WP can all be undone by a single troll who’s sole purpose in WvW is to tag the enemy keep. Seriously, our EB waypoint has been contested the whole week as some dude had nothing better to do than tag it all day long.
PS revise dolyaks as well, escorting them is useless since a thief can just stealth up to them and 3 hit them before you can even kill him. Increase Dolyak’s health and toughness and give them perma regeneration. Even when escorting with 3 people it is still impossible to keep a dolyak alive.
TL;DR: Stop the mindless karma train, promote tactical gameplay by getting rid of PvD

You fight them in exactly the same way you fight a perma-stealth thief.
Except mesmers can deal tons of damage while hiding in stealth. Thieves have to reveal themselves, but a mesmer can have the clones up dealing damage the whole time they are hiding.
Right… Clones with massive damage.
It is almost like if there was a CoD option for mail, or a direct trade option that exist in ever other MMO on the market, this would not be an issue. But hey we got to keep making Evon richer and richer.
Faithful strike (as well as the rest of the chain) is not one target. It hits multiple targets.
The first two in the chain hit multiple foes, but Faithful only does damage to one.

You are the very reason that drives developers into not giving out any more info than what it necessary. If for one reason or another they can’t deliver that you jump on them like a pack of rabid wolves demanding them to deliver.
Sometimes things don’t go as planned, deal with it.
Right now since I initially bought the game I have hardly paid into it. The reason is everything is so expensive to a person in my position. Now I’m a working man and I’m struggling financially but in the current UK economy, and a lot of the world economy, finances are not so good for many like me. Now since real life is so expensive there is no way I will invest large amounts of my hard earned cash into a virtual economy.
Lets put it this way I can have a few takeaway meals, go to the cinema, eat well for a month, or buy virtual goods that can help me enjoy my game. These virtual good aren’t necessary as I have proven as I play without them but some things like extra bag space, collectibles space, bank space would be nice as would some nice aesthetic things. Now if prices were more respectable I would buy and feel much more satisfied with my game. Right now your more privileged customers may be quite happy but how many players are so privileged and how many are in my position.
Who cares about me. I don’t expect any strangers to do so in a world of selfishness and greed but Anet how much greater would your sales be, your customer satisfaction and overall profit financially and in customer loyalty if if you were to make prices a bit more affordable for working class people on low pay. Its not as if you are gathering from nodes to make what you sell ;-) or have a factory of people producing them. Its virtual. Personally I think you are shooting yourselves in the foot with the costs of your items in the gem store.
Since the original Guild Wars, I have played DDO, LOTRO, SWTOR all with subscriptions and I came back here to Guild Wars 2 as I was looking forward to it from the early days it was announced to be going into production. I now find free to play with an expensive shop that caters just to the privileged as a financial model has lost its attraction to me. Even your sales are mostly pretty poor offers.

They don’t refund transmute stone errors. The splitter doesn’t do anything for you in this case because you get the appearance item back (or if it was just a skin you get an item with the skin applied) and the stats item can be anything with those stats, usually a generic item. The Crystal Guardian was not the appearance item and so it was irretrievable.
They will reissue the items only in extreme circumstances, if they did it for everyone it gives players carte blanche to undo any stupid mistakes they want to experiment with. Not to mention it bogs down the already overloaded CS agents, who have to deal with thousands of frivolous complaints every day.
You are certainly within your rights to choose to spend or not spend money on the game. However, it’s pointless to come to the boards and tell us about it, no one gives a kitten.

That “other game” is going to fail hard. Not as kittenWTOR, but it’s going to be terrible. A game that is not based on lore, looks absolutely terrible and is not only B2P, but subscription based AND microtransactions?

GW2 will be coming out with expansion content sometime this year. Book it.
Your veiled threats against GW2 will go unfounded. You will probably play that game for a month and then come back to GW2.
GW2 players are spoiled and they don’t know it.
I have played ‘that other game’ already. I am in the beta and bound by NDA not to discuss it. I will give one vague comment about it: I believe it has a very specific target audience.
From the outside looking in, even had I not played the game and without breaking NDA, you can watch videos on youtube and see what kind of game it is. You can see that it is doing things differently with an MMO, similar to how Arenanet tried with GW2 and lack of trinity.
They are trying to bring a different “style” of gameplay and MMO to the genre. It won’t be for everyone.
Also, who cares if it is B2P? GW2 is buy 2 play as well, but after that free to play. But most people spend as much in the gem store as you would on a sub for a year.
I am one of the few people who don’t see a problem with a subscription model.
BTW, WoW has a sub model and microtransactions and 8 million subscribers.
Is it a living expanding world when a lot of the veteran players are leaving the game and the borders of tyria are not expanding? Seems Like a dying diminishing world to me.
