Yes they do this and there’s nothing for me to get over as this has happened to me countless times but this is the first time I’ve seen it so rife from one server. I’m not looking to change the attitude of some player’s of a server but if you run a guild with members that take part in this type of behaviour not only does it reflect bad on a server I can only assume that the player is trash and their guild is trash.

When I see a fellow Deso-player doing corpse-jumping or dancing i will immediately say that it is stupid and childish. If they start to whine and continue their idiocy, I will just report them.

I challenge all my server-mates to deal with this kind of behavior harshly. If we see consistent trolling like this from a single guild, they may lose access to our community TS.

After a good fight it really is not so hard to type /bow or /salute

I totally expect this to get trolled.

But seriously something needs to be done about thieves perma stealth troll spec in wvw for the other classes that aren’t as good roamers unless your in a zerg there is simply no reason to run about as within 2 minutes you will come across a thief that cant play any other class effectively so has gone for the perma stealth glitch to help their lack of skill and gameplay.

I am 100% sure that when this game was released it didn’t want to be like wow and other mmo`s with no anticipated classes having stealth for any given period of time.

And I am trusting in Anet to fix it………

Majority of wvw players zerg but what do the other roamers think?

Yes I know there are signs of where the thief is via the skill they are using to stealth but its still over the top and OP.

oh you will. most likely either right behind the blob hitting the stragglers or right in front of the blob running for our lifes^^ here’s hoping for some fun fights.

regarding desolation (and I hate to be generalizing, I know it’s only a small portion of players that do it but) I never saw so much childish trashtalking. People actually join our groups screaming homophobic insults in caps lock, a la 14 year old playing CoD. We had that happening more times last week than all previous year together. Its only a game, try to behave and have fun.

I’ll check rs mill from time to time for duels as well. cheers.

^This, happens constantly from the Deso I’ve met so far, they kill you solo with 5 friends with gravity because they couldn’t any other way, then they all stand on your corpse and start mass /laughing, and that’s just one of countless occasions :/ this might just be your PvE population Deso but with the amount of times it’s happened I’m sitting here hoping for a fun matchup like Gandara/Riverside/Abbadons. Such childish behaviour, it’s quite sad really.

Other than that I will also pass by the windmill for some fair fights.

Survivability in dungeons with a DPS build?

in Guardian

Posted by: Shaftronics.8651

Shaftronics.8651

If you want to try a DPS build, I do suggest looking into Valkyrie sets to mix in with Berserkers to increase your HP in addition to maintaining a high amount of Crit Damage for good survivability. Don’t forget that other than the usual Aegis and Dodges, it also depends on your weapon type. For example, with the Focus, you’ll have an additional 3 blocks. Also a good idea to use up Defiance stacks on the enemy with Scepter’s #3.

I personally run a Monk’s Focus, DPS build with meditations with a Sword/Torch and Scepter/Focus combination, enabling me to adapt to nearly any situation and at any range most content needs me to be in. Using a Superior Rune of Blood and certain food also allow me to maintain my HP through my high crit chance and damage as well.

Play as you like, as long as you have a synergy that works for you. High DPS Guardians usually have a signficiantly smaller window of error due to our low HP, but a skilled Guardian DPS can also significantly outlast one with the tools at his disposal.

Don’t forget that you aren’t totally forgoing your support capabilities when doing so as well; You’re still capable of removing conditions and healing with the Torch and Focus, with well-aimed uses. Otherwise, its a very “Selfish” build so to speak, and even if I do like the spec, admit thakittens not fully utilizing the Guardian’s full potential of party support when compared to a high boon duration build with might/protection stacks.

Even when using two-handed weapons instead, one good advantage we have over other classes is our sheer ability of placing light fields and to combo with ourselves. Telling your party members to utilize these fields can easily be a force multiplier when the going gets tough, continually removing conditions and applying the protection buff whenever you need it. If you prefer playing a shout-oriented AH/EM build instead, just do remember that you’ll really need to save those shouts for the moments that count, due to your lack of boon duration, eg. Stand your Ground for the godkitten Graveling Lurkers in AC for example.

Survivability in dungeons with a DPS build?

You are right with your conclusion about the L2P issue, as far as I can tell from what you’ve written. What kind of armor do you use? Something like Knight’s, as “toughness-heavy build” suggests? Anyway, I don’t think that you’ll be happy with a DPS build unless you want to spend a lot of time practicing how to dodge. DPS builds don’t lack survivability if you know how to do that, but you seem to have quite some problems avoiding damage correctly. In a high-toughness AHEM, you should be nearly immortal, so if you already die often in that build, you’d probably spend most of the time dead in a DPS build.

Survivability in dungeons with a DPS build?

As a dps guardian, your main form of survivability comes from aegis (retreat/ virtue of courage) and dodges. Plus killing fast means less time in danger also. To utilize dodges and aegis effectively, u have to be able to tell when the boss is going to cast the big hit and dodge or block it. U also have to move around the boss and not stand still and let him hit u.
The best example I can come up with is COE boss, subject alpha, if ur party stack against the boss, u only need to learn how to dodge his red aoe circle attack. Normally 1,2 dodge or 1,2,3 dodge depending on how fast u count. Toughness doesn’t matter much since his aoe is almost a one hit down cause they overlap…

Why? This build suits me perfectly, you might have managed to overlook the gear? How could I’ve maximized this build’s potential?

I don’t believe its essential to do max DPS in the dungeon. Most other people playing are DPS clowns. I look at doing medium DPS and supporting.

I strongly suggest 0/0/30/30/10.

Then gear up with lots of crit and crit damage 50% + of each.

The 10 points in virtues will allow you to use Sanctuary by reducing the CD tremendously. There are a lot of pulls where you pull the creature to a spot and it seem to lay down a ton of damage to start the fight. Sanctuary helps you get through this phase and from there its just heals from staff and tome of courage to finish the fight off. If the fight goes on a while a 2nd Sanctuary is helpful. There are certain places where Wall of Reflection is handy. Some other places where the 12 sec stability consecration is good and you might swap that in instead.

Hold the Line is pretty much a staple.

I suggest Hammer and Staff. Or Mace and Staff. Staff has a lot of utility.

Some fights might be better fought at range so you might decide to swap in a scepter. It has no synergy with the build but is flat out more dps in some cases.

We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional

Dont add in to much crit, the internal cd is a party pooper when it comes to EM.

What you should look at is the proccing of vigorous precision. If you run with 0% boon duration and 25% crit chance and we assume you hit 4 targets each second with the aoe.

This will generate one crit (average) on the four targets and procc VP. This cant occur before ICD (5s) has passed which means the procc will happen during the 6th second which will result in a 0,5s downtime on VP. Make that a single target and the downtime will be approx 2s per 7s of gameplay or 28% downtime.

If you increase crit to 50% you will have 1 s per 6s of gameplay or 16% downtime.

The numbers are examples to show the relation between the number of targets and crit chance.

My point is that it is vigorous precision and the surroundings that should dictate your crit chance, EM will work fine as long as you get VP to work.

[Build]100% boon duration

Hi guys!

With the recent patch the 100% boon duration becomes more viable becouse of the new winter and the traveler runes. The new winter does has lost the MF and received toughness instead. And with the rune of the traveler you don’t need too much of winter’s. This build is really fun!

The build:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQNApeWlYgqCnFyvDm4ES2DDEBLJsHYE81RXFcIA-jUDBoeBCtBkaAkwAiIAI5rIaslhht6KIlXRT1ATpiIq2zDzpgIqWEAzCA-w

No griding/time gating version (less dps/more supportive):

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQNApeWlYgqCnFyvDm4ES2DDEBLJsHYE81RXFcIA-jUDBoNCiUDgEGQEBAZRFRjtMMsVXBp8KaqGYKVAaVLq2lAwpgRrWEAzCA-w

You can go 0/0/20/20/30 as well for Mace of Justice. Maybe even 0/0/30/10/30 for altruistic healing, but you’ll lose healing power, HP and EM or Writ of Persistence.

With this build you’ll get perma boons (even perma protection without hammer!). Feel free to change utilities, traits and equip!

Any suggestions? Add up!

PS: Take note that boon duration is capped at 100%, so the warrior banner and the vengeful trait are useless.

Sorry for my english.

This is a massive upgrade to guardian since they don’t need to use staff anymore.

No need for staff AND retreat AND SY!. Sure it’s a buff, if you dont mind losing 150 power and 5% crit damage and 10% modifier, but seemingly unlike every single other class we have to give up significant stats otherwise to get what should be a baseline trait or utility.

It’s a giant kitten in the face to guardians once again. We have no viable condi builds to take advantage of superior itemization, we have no mobility unless we spec seriously for it (and nerf ourselves on either condi cleanses or gap closers, such a fun choice to have to make) and now we get the “choice” of getting to “on par” mobility by giving up.:. Yep, you guessed it- even more power.

Gee thanks. How about viable condition builds and a trait for 25% move speed? That would be a good start. Or making toughness reduce condi damage.

This is a very popular build in PvE, works wonders in dungeons, doesnt work too much in big zergs in WvW but in small skirmishes it is really strong

I adopted it because of how well self sustain you are while providing condition convertions while pumping insane damage!

http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/guardian/?3.0|1.5g.h2|6.1c.h2|1g.a5.1g.a5.1g.a5.1g.a5.1g.a5.1g.a5|2s.0.2s.0.3s.0.2s.0.3s.0.1g.67|0.5.u64b.u29b.5|0.0|0.0.0.0.0|e

basically it is 0/5/30/30/5 focusing on Pure of Voice for conditions to boons convertions and AH for self healing, full zerker gear with some valkiry or knight as needed, personally I run it with some knight armor and valkiry weapons with full zerker trinkets.

pretty much 1 out of 2 hits are crits and they hit really high, survivability comes from the 1:1 healing power of the dodges and perma vigor, coupled with AH proccing from pretty much EVERYTHING you do.

Hope it helps, for some more WvW focused builds I think soldiers with more into x/x/x/30/20-+ but that isnt my field.

@Deniara

You need people with a certain mentality, those that don’t care about Wexp or kill counts, those that don’t care for ganking people (or at the very least see it as a necessary evil for the accumulation of stacks), those that really don’t care too much about helping their server beyond attacking enemy sites to get fights. Basically people who only care for fights and challenging themselves, there must be plenty in Desolation, maybe they are all in guilds enjoying larger scale fighting.

As for your theory it probably holds some truth but as a small guild on Gandara both during prime time and off-peak we regularly get chased by stupidly large groups that must have better things to do, maybe not as much as if we were on Desolation but its a common occurrence. If you can’t cope with that then this type of roaming is probably not for you, unfortunately not everyone in WvW likes fights were they have to think.

I’d suggest a tweak to your theory, basically because of the servers you’ve regularly faced (this is on reputation alone, thank god I’ve never fought Vizunah) there are no small roaming groups on Desolation because for most of the last year they would have nothing to fight, if all you ever encounter is solo roamers or 40 man blobs you are wasting your time. Kiting a blob only for 3 people to over extend and die in seconds gets old very quickly and the blob generally learns just as quickly that they should ignore you or just try and steamroller over you. Now that the server match ups are randomish you either fight the same top tier servers as before with their lack of roaming parties or you face much weaker servers where the chance of easy Wexp/loot may be too much to persuade people to go small scale, or maybe they do try but the limited amount of time they spend against such servers means its not really worthwhile putting that much effort in.

When your choice in WvW is to be in a 5 man group and have nothing to do or jump into a zerg and at least get some action + reward its a pretty easy one . The people with the desire to roam in a small group aren’t going to act on it if it means sitting around twiddling their thumbs for 3hrs in between killing dolyaks, veteran scouts, instead they will solo roam because that way at least the lone guys you come across have the potential to be interesting fights.

I must admit during this weekend I’ve seen more emote spamming from our side more then ever before. Bumped into few randoms that were in trouble, jumped into help them and after we had pew’d the enemy, my lovely servermates started to spam /laugh. Even after pointing out that it was pretty rude as they did not even kill these dudes on their own the spam continued. On the other hand, I’ve been on the receiving end this weekend as well, got emoticon spammed from both AM and Deso, so I suppose all the servers containts some of the jerkiest jerks to ever jerkinate a jerk.

However! You don’t have to sit and suck it up, you can turn the tables around and make the best out of this rude behaviour. A little back up story for our lovely Desolation people:
http://youtu.be/0NEMMKWs0ys

For whatever reason I get teabagged a lot. I don’t provoke people with dancing or anything because I find it rude, but it still happens to me. My guildmates can go on weeks or even months without this happening to them, but it happens to me pretty much in daily basis. So! One day I just couldn’t take it anymore, this rude [lion] dudero from FSP was getting on my nerves so I decided to hunt him down, dance on his dead corpse, throw a ram to please the Great Lord Flame Ram and pray for less teabagging. Teabagging still happened, but so the Great Lion Hunt had started. First it was a silly guild activity, then it spread and other guilds in Gandara joined us. Later on it spread across the servers, people from Aurora Glade joined the cause and so lions were rammed in match ups we weren’t even part of. Our dear friends, FSV, donated hundreds of rams for this cause <3

Sadly, the Great Lion Hunt came to it’s end when [lion] moved to NA servers, and I felt like I had no reason to get up in the morning. No reason to put pants on anymore. No hope in the darkness. But then, we got this match up and I thought I’m going mental when I saw… a [Lion]. Reincarnated version! As arrogant, as obnoxious, as teabaglicious as ever. So brothers and sisters, get your rams ready, because the HUNT IS ON!

There’s no need for magical coding or anything… Just implement some decent logging and have people look at it… Ban accounts, hit their pockets…

It may be hard to implement stuff to prevent hacks… But it’s not hard at all to detect them and take action…

We need a better report system and they need to just implement a decent log system that even takes the reports in consideration… The whole thing can be automated and still be effective since some things are just blatantly obvious…

Zergas happen because Anet built the game that way, everything in WvWvW encourages zergs. Lets break it down:

- The zerg moves faster
- The zerg takes objectives faster
- The zerg doesn’t really need siege
- The zerg doesn’t really care about supply
- The zerg doesn’t care AT ALL about defending

Now factor in that the best rewards (champ bags, karma, WXP, XP) are fastest achieved by zergs. The downed system, the rewards system, the whole thing is designed for zergs. Then crucially we come to the last point:

- The zerg cannot be stopped unless by a bigger zerg

It is a vicous circle, one created by the devs.

Don’t worry guys, our towers usually don’t have siege either, cause who would bother to refresh if you can just jump in to the blob train and go get your wxp and flip stuff back later. Since adding of Wxp it started turning into this madness and ppl follow the zerg just to push up that blue bar, but in the end everyone will realize that it’s just “another bar” that you’re making go higher and that you will rarely ever use these abilities because all you do is zerg. Birthday gift boost/Wxp boosters made this even worse and even more and more players jump on the train, I followed it too a bit I admit.
Rare view to see commander stay a bit to siege up tower or upgrade it (even not assign anyone to do it), usually after lord is down someone pops upgrade and the party moves to another tower/map. Miss the old good days.
Gandara is doing well with the small groups, attacking many places (try attack few at once) with Deso/AM blobs running around like crazy searching those wooden doors, but I hope you won’t get infected by this “meta” and won’t start doing it when you have the chance to lower pop servers.
And for the end, for all interested, pls if you see 1v1 going on, just leave it be and let them finish, thx

As one commander so succinctly put it, “don’t try to defend, just leave it, we’ll flip it later for wxp.”

I don’t like that attitude. I can understand it, and I do give up trying to defend someplace when I am far away and they are already in inner or when its blob vs 5. Most of the time I am there defending till they kill me.

Personally, those new events in the borderlands with the so called “new orbs of power” seem more like PvE events.

Lol as wvw stands atm its just pvd with the odd occasion of blob v blob and massive skill lag.

Hopefully the new update will bring back some small scale fights, because as it stands atm nobody will stop to fight, even attacking them 1v2, nine times out of ten they will just continue to run to the commander whilst dying in the process. Which makes me wonder why they’re even in wvw in the first place.

If people didn’t just zerg everything we wouldnt have skill lag.

I see less and less actual player vs player battles in wvw these days and it really makes me sad. Zergs avoid each other because it is more rewarding to just take empty keeps and farm karma, wxp and such. The fun of wvw has been sucked dry in my opinion. ANET can you please do something to bring back real player battles. Even when a zerg goes head to head the fight usually lasts about 2 minutes with one side steam rolling the other. Maybe its just the matchups I have been in but long drawn out battles seem to be non existent. I constantly see zergs avoid each other to run to an empty keep instead.

I would be all about giving incentives for open field battles but that seems to not be wanted by ANET soo how about giving some sort of incentive to actually holding on to keeps and defending them. Some ideas are champ bags for successful defense of a keep, guilds that hold on to a keep that they claim for a certain amount of time earn wxp, guild influence, and guild merits? I mean everything about wvw has made it all about running around in a zerg and clearing a map not upgrading anything, go to another map and clear the map and then go back to the other map after it has been taken back. The incentives as they are currently completely pushes this boring sad state of wvw and I feel the players are going to go with what rewards them the most. So please ANET do something about how boring wvw has become. These are just some ideas that have come to my mind I am sure there are some changes that you can make that will bring life back to wvw because as i see it now it is just another boring pve grind 95% of the time.

Thanks
