Guard Leech was renamed Applied Strength.

The Quaggans are gone.

That’s it for the important ones.

Quaggans are not gone.
There are some pretty nasty Quaggan groups running around
ganging people, ninjaing keeps, and doing all shorts of foul stuff.

Here’s what happened since you were gone:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/

I am with a couple of the other posters here……since you already own the game, jump into it and play it for a month or two to see if you enjoy it. If not, lots of other mmos out there.

Best of luck!

Lol a person asks what’s changed in WvW over the last year and you post a link to all the changed in PvE???? :P

I agree with the need for diminishing returns. It would promote more skilled play.

I don’t think people mind the being zerged thing. At the end of the day, you get zerged you live with it. Chances are, especially in EB you weren’t able to use any skills even before the zerg hit you so being chain stunned is of no consequence to you in that scenario.

It is when two warriors with hammers are bouncing you around like a rag doll whilst their friend puts a ring on it (just in case you dodge one of the cc chains) and you actually cannot do anything about it that irritates people.

If that fact is true, than agreed. However My suggestion would be to use meladru Runes with Poultry and leek soup! Each person can use these and effectively reduce how often they get CC’ed by condis (Improved more with certain class traits). As far as Stuns go I believe every class has a skill that either grants stability or breaks stuns. As it stands now I’m personally satisfied where the game is at in relation to CC and condis. However come April 15th we will see if things change.

Okay so by your theory, every single class should have to use melandru runes with poultry and leek soup to counter being immobilized to death? So all 8 classes that can have millions of possibilities of builds are forced to use melandru and certain foods just to counter a specific spammable condition in order to not die?

Yeah faith in this game is not restored at all…

Nope, they are all fine. Diminishing returns is the worst mechanic ever to hit an MMO. No one should be forced to have their skills work less then full strength simply another player just hit you with a similar skill.

You’ve never played other MMOs, have you? DR is put in place to avoid players cheesing not only PvP through CC spam, but also to avoid it happening in PvE, both to AND from monsters. It needs to be put here too, whether through giving players Defiant or something else.

Is pretty much dead..
matchup threads no one cares to look at or writes about.

just wanted to put it here..

if it’s too much trouble to moderate WvW matchup threads just add a disclaimer that it will not be moderated or anything..
at least when it was on these forums you could find the people ingame, write them a pm, ask for info etc etc..

anyways.. the community is as split as ever thanks to the tools created to keep everyone out of contact.

NB: The site looks nice though, i do visit to see what’s up, and wvw tools are all nicely put together.

When will defending become viable?

Right now, sinking time, money, and painstaking effort in upgrading and defending anything is completely pointless. You spend hours upgrading a keep, only for it to fall in less than 3 mins (well, sometimes it can take hour or more, but THAT part of the fight is usually done in the lord’s room and has nothing to do with actual upgrades). Where’s the return for all that time wasted? What incentive do I have to spend all that time and money, when I could just as easily go farm them for bags while they flip the keep, then retake it 5 mins later? Defense event “rewards” are pretty non-existent, yet offense rewards are much much higher. When is the last time you got a loot chest from defending?

IMHO attacking a properly fortified structure should always be harder than defending it. it should require tactics and planning. Not just blobbing up, throwing 2 pieces of siege down, and mowing over the point. While I’m sure the uppity “leet” players will counter-argue this (mainly because they like easy caps, which only proves my point) saying some fights can last well over an hour to cap something, but consider which parts of that fight are you spending that time in? Most always the lord’s room and all that is, is which blob is biggest and who has the most banners to throw down. There’s just no feel of skilled play in wvw anymore and I think the defense-vs-offense issue is one of the things at the heart of it.

Sorry but no its not. An achievement for completely a puzzle that is set in a Group of achievement focused around fighting and winning a PVP setting. Just like the rest of the achievements. They are focused on WvW which is PvP.

It has nothing to do with the skill of those players. But what grinds my gears is all the QQ here by the achievement hunters.

They can have their living story, they can have their easy eat this or walk to there achievements. But when they want to take up a space in WvW to kill yacks, or try to do this jumping puzzle or what not they need to realize that the other side will want to kill them.

Of course. When I go yak hunting or camp capping, I fully expect any enemy players I run across to attack me if they catch me in the act. I’m doing something which is detrimental to their score/server; it’s only right for them to attempt to stop me, and if I get killed, I only have myself to blame for not being skilled enough to either win the fight or escape in time.

But it’s a different story in Obsidian Sanctum. Nothing you do there has any real impact on the rest of WvW. We’re not “taking up space”, as you said yourself. It is players who are here to do a specific kind of activity, similar to those who come to Sanctum to do duelling or GvG.

I don’t think of myself as a bad guy. I will be the first person to run to the aid of someone getting killed in PvE. But when someone steps into a PvP environment they have to be able to defend themselves or sneak though. I don’t care which. But don’t expect other players to make it easy for them. And any notion of Honor was left behind the moment they logged into the Video Game world.

It isn’t greifing. It isn’t being mean. What it is, is the way the game was intended to be played.

If you read my earlier posts, I advocate all players in Obsidian Sanctum to be on the alert too. Not every player you meet in there is going to be friendly, and you need to be ready to defend yourself if need be.

But combat in OS is not really the prime reason most of the players are there for. Fights can be found much more easily in the Arena or anywhere else in WvW. Why is it that so many attackers in OS only attack from spots where they can get cheap kills like knocking people off cliffs, or where the odds are heavily stacked in their favour? That tells me that they’re not really interested in fighting; they just want easy kills for loot, or they just enjoy the knowledge that they’re annoying someone else.

Again, there’s nothing “wrong” with attacking other players in Obsidian Sanctum as it’s a PvP zone, but examine your motivations for doing so. Just because something is allowed doesn’t always mean it’s the right thing to do.

That is all I have to say on the matter. Peace.

I won’t be coming back here, I got a season to win.

Good luck in your match-ups, even if you never see this. (And for those who may be wondering why I still replied to this anyway, people who write posts saying they’re not coming back usually do end up coming back. Or secretly lurk anyway. )

Who do you think put PvP in to a jumping puzzle? Who do you think set up the Achievement to run a PvP jumping puzzle to get a PvP achievement?

Achievement hunters need to realize not ever achievement will be as simple as eating 25 pieces of food or mining 10 times. Sometimes your gonna have to actually… do something.

The achievement is really for completing the puzzle. Getting attacked by other players doesn’t really have anything to do with it. Do you think that the player who couldn’t get the achievement due to people spawn camping/fall griefing in Obsidian Sanctum is a worse player than the player who DID get the achievement because they were lucky enough to get a Mesmer port to the end, or who just happens to play at off-hours so the place is always dead empty when they do the JP?

Yes, Obsidian Sanctum is a PvP map, which is why I’m not calling for bans/suspensions on the people who get their giggles attacking others in there. But I do think it’s poor sportsmanship, and perhaps something ANet should look at addressing. (If ANet really wanted an “no holds barred, every man for himself” MMO, then they wouldn’t have put in things like “no kill stealing”, “no node stealing”, and they’d have left the Matchup Forum here. The fact that they did all those tells me they want a better calibre of player for their game, which I approve of.)

By the way, to those who still need the achievement; 5 days on and the Sanctum is already mostly empty at off-hours even for the BG/JQ/TC match-up. Give it another week and I bet the place will be even more deserted. You’ve got plenty of time to get the achievement done.

It’s confirmes the hackers are on my server (fsp).
Already told by Kiro, we also stand in front of their AoE but we can’t see their name even if they are our ally.We cannot see em on the miniradar too.
But we can see the effect of their skills like ele burning speed, thief poison field etc.
If we stand in their AoE we don’t take dmg while our enemy die…so they must be our ally.
Also (if any devs can find it usefull before the thread get closed) they usually play around 19-21 gmt+1 , they farm obsidian sanctum and then join borders (i guess they farm in OS till their queque is ready fora border).
Anyway guys, don’t be sad if the thread get closed.
Hackers want visibility, and this kind of thread give them what they want.
Anet know about the problem.
Continue reporting the issue to the support team via tickets, and try to give them more info like the hour, the map, the skills, screenshot of your combat log etc etc.

I apologize for my english.

Any tips for doing dungeons as a Mes?

Greetings and welcome!

DE is pretty bad in PvE dungeons since it’s a waste of a slot. You should go for Fury, Sword trait and Mantra damage, since you are most of the time are using at least one mantra (condi cleanse).

Mesmer are awesome in dungeons because:

  • Time Warp (~125’000-500’000 passive damage)
  • Reflection (Feedback, Warden, Focus trait, ress players (traited))
  • Condition Cleanse
  • Pull (Focus 4)
  • Utility (buffs, Portal, invisibility)
  • Best single target damage

If you got 3 ISwordmen, IDuellist or IWarlocks out, you are currently dealing the highest damage against a target. Noone will be able to outdamage that. Ever seen critting 25k with IWarlock on Dwayna? <3 (yea open world, still fun)

How about no clones? If you have shatter build then shatter clones right away or go with phat build.
Timewarp is very good skill for Zrked good group otherwise it is waste. When COF P1 was farmable 1 mes and 4 Zerked wars with Timewarp signet of inspiration feedback null field and illusion of life could run it very fast. Now i feel like Timewarp is a waste of space with pugs. For TA and Arah runs mass invis is must to have especially in groups with no thieves.
Feedback always good in dungeons. Decoy is a life line. Illusion of life can be helpful sometimes. Do few runs and see which skills are most useful for you and group. I recomend to use GS and Sword/sword or Sword/Pistol and Phantasm build for dungeons. Scepter is underpowered tho i like it against some bosses when it is 100% ranged fight Scepter/Pistol. Staff useful only with signet of inspiration to transfer chaos armor and boons to whole party.

NevilleDevil, thank you for keeping the original etiquette alive.

It was a fine thing back in early days when folks would respect fellow players trying to do the jump puzzle.

Don’t know how long these other players have been playing GW2. They probably don’t remember that etiquette, nor do they probably care. These style players (not real WvW, nor real PvP players) came in and found they could do what other unskilled players have done In other games: gank. That’s their playstyle, in an arena where they can’t compete otherwise. Happens in every game. Luckily, it’s a small but annoying percentage of overall players.

Aside from them, you can find a few skilled duelists in there, but it’s pretty rare. And I understand there are some groups that enjoy a remnant of what you could call FFA play. Most games these days do not support Free For All play because it just isn’t a successful business model, so players that enjoy that playstyle have to create it wherever they can.

That’s not rationalizing that play, just explaining it.

Last time my guild and I were in there, we continued to help other players, even from other servers. If we feel the need to go in there again, we’d do the same: honoring the original etiquette in a zone where enemies could acknowledge each other, yet not need to prove anything.

BG: 52 alts, 29 lvl 80’s. They all look good, so I am done with the game: Oct 2014

nevilledevil,
appreciate what you’re trying to do here,

but two other whole servers are dedicated to stopping you from doing what you want to do in this zone.

you will get spawncamped by thieves.
you will get killed in the JP,
you will have a bad time if you are only coming to do one thing and get the achievements because none of the WvW players will want to help you to do that, because they’re trying to WIN the tournament, not just get the meta completed.

You don’t win anything by camping the JP. You don’t earn your server anything by camping the JP. WvW players don’t go to the JP, they are too busy WvWing.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”

ANet deleted my JP Etiquette thread that’s why you can’t find it anymore

I’m sorry about that. I started kitten by naming those campers for what they really were and the mod closed it.

OS is a pvp area, fight or die.

You want a reward for doing pvp, then better be prepared to do some pvp. And respect peoples choice to pvp in a pvp area. Just cause you run away or do a little wave doesnt mean you should get a free pass.

Ganking achievement nubs in a JP is not PvP.

Its a pvp area and you want to get pvp rewards, so do some pvp. Its also way more fun when you have to fight yourself through the jp. I see so many people not even defending themselves, which is so sad because the jp offers a pretty unique and awesome pvp experience.

There is a dueling area in OS where you can fight people who actually want to fight. The ones in the JP want to jump not fight.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”

I know there are trolls, but I like to keep my honor. If I troll others, it makes the guild I’m in look bad.

I got the achieve, and I helped others not even from my server. Yet, I guess I could be that 1% of players that like to respect others in OS.
