Yeah I totally agree here.

For example look at Inspiration – I thought thematically it is supposed to be about supporting others, however instead it is a selfish sustain line.

There is absolutely no reason why all that condi cleanse should be loaded into that line when it would also make sense in other lines. Especially when playing without it means you have barely any cleanse.

I believe lines should be thematic and offer different flavours to combat – ie they should lean to a certain strength (ie damage, control, support, etc…) however should also have minor option to shore up their weaknesses – but less than a dedicated line. For example Domination should “major” in control, secondary with damage and include minor options for sustain that is rewarded on successful application of the major mechanics (control) – for example transfer condition on interrupt or heal for each boon removed from an enemy (just throwing random ideas out).

Damage is easy to come by now which is why things like Domination hardly make a difference to your build, but condition removal and healing/sustain is gold dust and mandatory. Deviating from Inspiration/Chrono/x is shooting yourself in the foot, similar to the trait lines of other classes that are way more efficient than other trait lines.

Nobody at Anet loves WvW like Grouch loved PvP. That’s what we need, a WvW Grouch, but taller.

I think they were responding to people complaining about how they balance with a giant hammer, so now they tried balancing with a tiny mallet.
This feels like more of a mid-season hotfix than a patch. Can we get something more meaningful? There are so many traits and skills in this game that need love. Us players send so many suggestions too. Some of them are good. Please take more of our suggestions.

So meditrapper guardian and D/D thief are probably two of the most 1-trick pony burst builds in the game. Naturally, you’ll have huge problems against anything that doesn’t die in the first 5 seconds of the fight. My general advice is that you shouldn’t play 1-trick ponies and be surprised when you get wrecked by a defensive sustain build.

On the thief, your best bet is to just pull a full disengage and try again if your burst doesn’t work. Once the Mesmer knows you’re there, they can destroy their illusions and rotate defensive cooldowns/interrupts to prevent you from regaining stealth with CnD. You have basically zero defense, so there’s no way for you to survive or sustain through that.

On the guard you’re basically in the same boat but without the capability to pull a full disengage. Guard does actually have some interesting mechanics that hurt Mesmer defense, but if you don’t have condie cleanse that won’t matter. Without condie cleanse, you either kill the Mesmer in the first 5 seconds or you lose.

If you have condie cleanse it’s a bit more interesting. F1 spear, deflecting shot traited to knockback, and test of faith traited to daze are all unblockable cc. This means you can hold onto those 3 skills and use them when the Mesmer tries to block for defense. Doing that will let you break through the defense and get solid dps windows.

As for your warrior, just modify your builds to have high uptime on resistance and you’ll be fine. If the other builds you run are any indicator, those warrior builds are also probably pure burst 1-trick ponies, and that’s just not going to cut it.

I guess this whole thing could be summed up as: don’t play 1-trick ponies and expect to kill people aware of you being a 1-trick pony.

The questions people will really want to have answered are:

What amount of boon duration will we need, 100%?

What gear (stats, runes and sigils) will I need?

What comp will become “meta”?

What is the rotation?

Boon duration: 100%

Gear: Whatever you want as long as it reaches 100% boon duration.

Comp: Mirror comp mes/ps warr/druid/2x dps

Rotation: See my earlier post.

So do we or don’t we need chrono runes anymore? If not then getting to 100% isn’t going to be too bad as there’s some decent options out there which aren’t stupid expensive. If you need chrono runes then you need to go nearly full commanders.

What exactly do you think chrono runes are going to provide anymore? They’re 1s of personal quickness that we can’t share. Why on earth would they be useful?

I forgot about the SoI applying the stacks back on you, stack size etc in the math so yeah bit of a daft question now I look at it. Think I’ll just head off to bed now as it’s well past midnight for me and I’m clearly too tired. Thanks for the replies.

I don’t feel that this rotation will significantly more difficult to pull off than the old rotation. It’ll be a little tighter, but that’s not a huge deal overall.

The real stinker of this update is how it affects the groups themselves. My raid group is strong and mature. We’re able to swap to a mirror comp without any difficulties thanks to our experience in the raids and the competence of the players. We’ll still see a small dps loss from this change (as will everyone), but that won’t be a problem for clearing fights.

Now consider a much weaker and newer group. Not only are they only clearing some bosses by the skin of their teeth, they’re also less comfortable swapping classes, so maybe the won’t be able to transition smoothly into a mirror comp. This group will suffer significant dps losses because of this update, and all of a sudden they’ll be failing at bosses they once completed. They’ve been effectively set back months of practice all because Anet didn’t properly consider the ramifications of this change.

So mesmers can only output perma quickness if:

  1. They sacrifice all utility.
  2. They’re a robot.
  3. Have another robot mesmer with them.
  4. Both are also perfectly synced.

While tanking at the same time.

As a mesmer that just got into raids…kitten!!! T^T
Back to pvp I guess… -_-

But hey, we got a 6% damage boost to the two weaker attacks in sword auto and a damage boost to our mainly an evade skill that roots you and it’s pve only XD

Im breaking a stun or getting dazed/chilled/immobilized every couple of seconds vs some groups (condi map blob). Often times seemingly through stab or maybe it’s getting stripped or corrupted. Add to it DHs or whatever somehow pulling me mid teleport.

It’s very annoying to have people barfing out so much cc in fights. Just walking is a pain in the kitten most of the time. Marks on the ground are usually dripping with cc. Throw in all the passive taunt and fear running around.

Seriously this stuff isn’t fun anymore. Map blobs just melee train up and roll in one direction. 4 or 5 of them always leap way ahead and die like idiots. They catch stuff in cc then kill rinse repeat.

Tone down the cc. Having basilisk venom connected to every freaking well and mark probably sounded like a good idea but it wasn’t. CC is over the top atm. /rant

Stuns don’t break stuns for more than half a second.

Protection is useless.

Invulnerable doesn’t always mean invulnerable.

WvW is in serious trouble.

That is a real wordy post for “we feel the economy is in a good place so we are letting go of the wheel and letting it coast”.

Which I agree. Economy is doing great. Just two things that I think should be looked at before distribution tweaks stop being made.

T6 materials seem way out of proportion with each-other. The two extremes being t6 leather and cloth. It seems like the it is quite disproportionate compared to other two T6 materials. It doesn’t seem particularly balanced that top tier mat prices are so out of whack with each-other.

Mystic coins. I know that it was stated that no change felt like was needed because alot of them come into the game. I think the price of these can get out of control fairly quickly as more legendary items are added to the game.

What I personally would be looking at is how much of that supply actually moving. The vast majority of the ones coming into the game are generated passively at a fixed rate and probably has the highest supply spread over the population over other materials. Players generally don’t have the means to generate anymore or any less than what they are producing so there is no reason for players to justify selling them as they need nearly a year’s worth to do anything with them. Nor can they directly produce more for resell or consumption.

So what you have really created here is a material that can never drop in price and will always go up when demand for them is added. Save some kinda random event that prompts everyone to sell their coins. Is it at all concerning for you that the price of these can only go up at this point making legendary items more pricey? Or is this something that is intended to make log in rewards worth something?

Seeing as quality from ANet’s balance team is almost completely unrelated to the amount of time between patches because they don’t know what they’re doing… immediately.

Some of this isn’t really new to roaming but it has definitely gotten worse.

  • hot raised the skill floor so anyone and everyone has the potential to not instant die and still deal easy dmg with aoe/cleave everything lvl of skill.
  • some how with that high skill floor people are still terrible and you will find it most effective to build to kill bad people more so than building a dueling character for roaming.
  • Unless you like getting hunted down and killed like a dog for appearing to be OP/Hacker, stealth &/or mobility are necessary to escape the inevitable mob.

Just 3 aspects to keep in mind if you want to return/get into solo roaming currently.

Terrible in solo content. You will be able to do most of it but at about half the speed of other classes while requiring twice the effort. Often more frustrating then fun.

Every raid group will want at least one Chrono for support and can fill in the tank roll
Terrible in large scale WvW unless you like providing portals and nothing else
Roaming we are decent but other classes are better and will move around the map faster
Good condi build in PvP at the moment but we are always vastly overrated by the PvP community that always demands nerfs no matter what posistion we are in and Anet is more then happy to oblige. Though the last few patches were surprisingly good for us.

we chose DBL to come back with alpine so everyone can be happy.

I still dont see people on DBL at least on my server and DBL needs rework to make people actually play on that map.

I stayed with this game mostly because of WvW. But you have gone off your rocker and destroyed it.

It was prime time today, and I was looking at four maps, three borderlands and EB, and 80% belonged to a single server. They had us backed up to our own spawn in our own borderland. 50 players sitting outside that wonderful gate in the desert borderlands, you know, the one with none of those legendary warriors sitting on top of it to stop you from spawn camping, You see they owned everything else worth taking, and I guess they were bored so spawn camping seemed to be the thing to do, well that’s just a guess.

ONE major difference between the desert and alpine maps is that the alpine maps are smaller, everything is closer together. So if you put a watch tower in your towers and in your keeps, well, you can keep a pretty good eye on most of the map, leaving only the center section, the ruins, and the ruins have a couple of sentry’s. However, the desert maps are larger, with large sections that remain unseen even if you put watchtowers everywhere. Which means even large enemy squads can move reasonably freely and unseen until they are right on top of their objective.

I’m not asking for a ‘fair’ match-up, its pretty obvious between your rankings and idiot match-ups that you have no idea what ‘fair’ is, but an equal chance would be nice, but then again you don’t seem to know what ‘equal’ is either. If you are going to give one team the desert map, give them ALL the kitten map, that way you aren’t giving one group a huge advantage or disadvantage.

Oh and yes, if you criticize you should do it constructively so here it is.

1) Everyone gets the same map, alpine or desert, switch them up is fine, but EVERYONE GETS THE SAME MAP, same advantage, same disadvantage. (here is a hint, at the end of the week take a look at the people who lost in each group and see what map they had, wanna bet it was the desert borderlands? I mean yea BG probably won no matter what map they had, but the rest of us, ANET you just bent us over and didn’t even give us time to lube up.
2)Legendary NPCs need to be put outside the spawn on the desert maps, because you cant see the 50 guys sitting outside the fuzzy blurry gate before you and your five buddies run out and get wiped before you can backup through the gate. And strangely enough if they own all your keeps, that spawn is the only place you can go in your own borderland. Makes it kitten easy to spawn camp .
3)Pay to play. No freebie players in the borderlands. Freebies can play in the mists all they want, eternally and forever, but if you don’t own the game, you cant enter the borderlands. (this should suit your money grubbing little hearts). They still have the option of earning enough gold to swap for gems and buy the game, so no real cash need change hands, just get the freebies out of the borderlands, this should fix some if not quite a lot of the population issues.
4)Buy a book on how to use that abacus or whatever it is that you use to calculate population, match-ups, and the ratings, cause whatever you are doing now aint working.

Truthfully I don’t get it, the game is three years old and you are losing customers left and right to everything that is new out there. First dungeons now WvW, you really just seem to be trying to push people out. I’m seeing a major drop in WvW players and yeah I was hot heavy for it, but the nonsense with the match-ups and now the idiocy with the one desert map. I’m out, and I’m relatively a short timer, not quite a year, and I have friends in game who have been here since the beta asking me if I know of any new games worth trying because of ANET stupidity.

Oh I may drop in, do my daily’s (in PvE) and talk to a few friends, but you got your last shekel (ANET check my account if you are interested in what that means) from me unless or until something changes drastically which from past performance I sincerely doubt.

I think it would be best to finally balance the professions, add some more stacks of stability, unravel the servers, merge the lower tier servers with each other and then leave the mode alone. All this “lets try this and that” is just killing everything even faster. And I know my server will be next.

People in my guild had a lot of strange situations lately in wvw. For some people textures like keep walls are just not there, so they can basically walk into a keep. It does not happen every time and on every wall. The strange thing is for whatever reason the problem goes away and then reappears out of a sudden. Maybe the guy in the screenshot suffers from something like that also. I have never seen something like that before and i am playing since release. For me it seem that the last “performance” patch regarding the walls in wvw did seriously break something.
