Ppl here are not on topic… Quite hard for Anet if you’re not giving any feedback.

Chrono & Revs need to be toned down before S3.

They’re on topic, they just think you’re wrong. That doesn’t mean they’re derailing, it just means this isn’t the echo chamber you thought it would be.

RIP moa on core mesmer

As a long time mesmer main (since launch) and owner of 4 mesmers over 2 accounts, I have to say that no core mesmer gives a shoot about the Moa ‘Nerf’. Frankly all this attention on core mesmer comes over as insincere. Since the dawn of days mesmers have utilised either power shatter or pu in pvp, along with mass invis. Time warp nor Moa were viable options to take because of their cooldown. That has not changed with this ‘nerf’, and speaking from a pve or wvw, Moa is too insignificant to mean something in those game modes.

This nerf was for the preservation of the chronomancer and has not negatively affected core mesmer in any regards, because let’s face it, nobody uses Moa, outside of chronomancer.

Case closed.

So we all play condi now?

in PvP

kdaddy.5431

Im sorry anet but i cant wrap my head around this. I havent been playing as much i admit but when i PvP everyone is using a condi build.

Warriors with mace/shields and sword/torch, mesmers scrappers, all of them are going full condi. The only classes that are not is ele which is a support build atm and a bunker druid. Thief and DH are still falling behind.

Even the OP rev is going back to condi for alot of the average players because simply put its almost impossible to deal with all the conditions being thrown around.

You changed warriors gun flame for its dps in WvW so not its not really all that useful in PvP. You changed the staff 5 skill of rev. Now revs are struggling to kill the more bunkery/sustain players in the time needed since everyone has ridiculous sustain and bursts.

Im sorry but HOT brought nothing to this game WvW and PvP wise. Seriously this is horrible.

You brought back old borderlands because you threw out crap. Now every class in the game PvP has literally 1 decent build. Im not gonna write a thread like chaith did on how to fix a class because its your job to make the game playable.

Hot brought guild halls which kind of suck, a new WvW which you took away because it sucked and PvP has become a complete joke with no leader boards, build diveristy, and a dying Ag tournament which use to be very good and active.

I will congratulate you on PvE areas because they are alot of funs, havent been able to find a raid group at my time which i put on myself but seriously the 2 areas i play most are completely useless as a expansion.

I bring it up because i just watched the Spring Update video and im sitting here like you are talking dynamics/ build changes for better improving raid teams.

Talking about slivers just being handed out and heres the thing, people dont want it it to be easy. Raid players dont want raids to be easy, people who scribe dont want it to be easy, PvP players dont want builds to be brain dead and easy.

This has to be the most frustrating aspect listening to Hugh talk. Hes talking about balance and god mode and the beta situation. UMMMMMMMMM we had it for HOT and no one listened.

Each forum for each class outside of PvP has threads with great suggestions on how to fix classes yet Anet takes a rocket launcher to that idea.

The d/d god meta? The burn damage? Before HOT these things were insane and it took forever to fix. Now these 2 things are completely gone and are useless.

Nobody wanted burn guardians to die and no one wanted core builds to be wiped from the face of GW2. Not only that no one wanted people taking those crappy builds and walking into Legendary in Season 2.

Rant is over but just like most of the people in that spring update video were laughing at all the messed up things in the game. I am to but mostly at the idea that things were fixed.

Ok, now I’m beginning to think the “roamer” complaints over the map change are more like complaining they can’t pvdoor with a 4 man group unhindered by those nasty people who now show up and chastise them.

I “roam” on FA. Roam as in checking out things, scouting, calling out, taking Sentries, Yaks and Camps and helping defend when needed. I also drop and refresh Siege. I’m all over the map. I could not do that effectively on the pvmap Deserted Borderlands.

I will not play on them. When they rotate back in, I’ll rotate out.

WvW Poll 04/28: Scoring vs. QoL (Closed)

Simonoly.4352

I don’t care about the score. The Germans can nightcap all they want for all I care. I’m not here to fight them then, so what do I care.

I am only interested in fights, and all these QoL changes mean very little when the class balance is a joke.

Run in a zombie horde of HoT elites, collect reward track. That’s what this game has been reduced to. It’s a blame equally shared by the developers for completely dropping the ball on balancing, and the community for turning it into Queensdale 2.0.

But sure, fix tooltip typos.

So much this. The two options in the poll are utterly meaningless until more balance changes come to WvW so the actual minute-minute gameplay is as fun as it used to be. You can still whack players for 15K using Coalescence of Ruin – a ground targeted, 3 impact, 5 target, 1200 range skill on a 4 second CD with an energy cost of just 5. This skill just needs to be redesigned completely. Then there’s Spear of Justice that still provides a nigh on uncounterable 1200 range pull to your death. Needs far more opportunity for players to react (think magnet pull and Into the Void). How about the utterly broken boon stacking potential? Was it intended that a group can easily stack 25-30 seconds of resistance? It’s funny to do, but really it’s not good for the game.

Changes to stability, max field CC limits, Hunter’s Ward, True Shot and Gun Flame have reduced the dominance of ranged attacks, but there are still so many skills and traits that need to be addressed as soon as possible for any sort of normality to be restored.

I feel left behind as a player

Posted by: Cpt Decaf.5321

Cpt Decaf.5321

Whenever I log onto to play PvP these days, it’s just a blowout. Match after match of getting just shredded by coordinated teams of players using the most meta of meta builds they can find. Even when I win, I don’t get that feeling of satisfaction. I generally don’t know why we won, and usually didn’t contribute to the win.

Basically, I love Guild Wars 2. I’m not a fanatical player. I play when I have time, and I tend to stick with PvE, but in most other games, I love PvP, and tend to be able to hold my own. However, I feel like this game’s PvP was hard to understand before Heart of the Thorns, and now it’s just completely beyond me. Nowadays, I log in, and spend most of my time dead. I don’t even get time to figure out my mistakes because most fights end with me blowing up in half second, and I don’t even have time to decipher which of the 10 ridiculous particle effects killed me. Readability is a big issue for me.

I’m willing to invest time into a game, but generally that game has to be fun on some level first. I keep giving this game’s multiplayer a shot, because my friend and I were big fans of Guild Wars 1’s PvP, but we both feel there is no place for the casual player anymore. The point of entry is too high. There’s a mountain of mechanics to go through. The game is blinding fast, and requires incredible reflexes and precise dexterity to hit combos.

If I could log on, and have an even match where I felt my opponents and teammates were at a similar level of experience, I could slowly get into this. Did anybody else really love GW1 PvP, but hasn’t found any enjoyment from 2’s?

I know this is whining, but honestly, I just miss having a Guild Wars like game to play PvP in, and it sorta feels like all of the people of average video game ability have been sorta waysided in favor of this small, dedicated fanbase. Great if you are one of those people, but I wish for the days when Guild Wars was more inclusive, and I feel there is room for both audiences to exist without sacrificing in quality for either group.

Also, advice is always fine. My friend nor I never last long enough to ever figure out anything beyond how to wait for the death timer to come back up.

Well i can say this, from when they have started to fix WvW, yes after they reuploaded the Desert BL’s the lag has been pretty bad. But I would cut some slack to Anet at the moment. To improve the lag, generally you improve your code again and again, when they can bring the wvw to a ‘’pretty good’’ point, then maybe then we shall get something that will improve the lag.

Or use the servers that do HoT meta events and don’t lag you at all with 120 people constantly casting meteors and icebow….. when you are right in front of them with max graphics…..

Account sharing comes with certain risks, which is why we have a rule against it. Normally we don’t action against it (unless one of the parties was doing bad things). Doing it during a tournament is a bad idea.

I’ll make something very clear. When you share your account, we know. You can try to hide it, but we know, and we will be watching.

So can we assume that the max penalty for any account sharing is a 1 year ban and accounts can be reinstated after it?

Depends on

1: Your personal build (the teleport does have a 36 second Cd after all, sometimes people would rather have other things, if you take the pure of heart trait and have celestial gear you can get decent heals (no where near ele/druid) off of it with right utilities & shield)

2: How much ranged damage your enemies have

If your fighting a bunch of ranged Id suggest the shield, especially since the recent nerf to wards and the fact someone with stability/teleports can just ignore them anyway.

I think the only solution would be a medi gs/hammer build to pressure targets.

@MaximillianVonSchatten.6278, well super tanky is non existant in guardian world, even with 4k armor they are easilly defeated, a guard that sacrifices damage is a dead guardian.

If your gona do WvW you have to have at least 1 ranged option.

Crappy as scepter may be smite at least makes them move & the ranged immobilize can be priceless if someone decides to run.
It also opens the door for shield off hand which is actually decent with the right traits.

My suggestion is if your not extremely attached to your guardian then roll a rev, engineer or ele.

They just do everything a guardian can do better while having more flexibility of role with the same gear.

If you however refuse to give your guardian up for some reason you could try honor/valor/x with a mix of shouts and meditations & celestial/zerk gear
It will have kinda decent support, survivability and damage.

Granted anything it can do can be done better by the classes I mentioned above.

LOL! I wonder what you consider to be a lot of hours.

Depending on how many are roaming; he may want to consider the tank AH shout guard instead with GS/staff. He can provide swiftenss for the group to get around faster and it’s also ok for him to get focused since he can tank through a lot of it for a long time as the rest of you wear your enemy down.

I would start uber tanky and then adjust for more DPS as you feel comfortable with. There are many hybrid builds based on AH.

Also note that the virtues got a big buff in the recent update, and I think this only on the std guard virtues, not the DH virtues.

Now if it’s just the two of you, then Medi is still the way to go. There is no getting around it though, a medi-DH is just better and there is no way around it.

Anet Abandoned Power Shatter?

in Mesmer

Posted by: thancock.6307

thancock.6307

Obviously, condition chronomancer needs a nerf of some kind. I mean I could turn auto target on, put a blind fold on, and spam shatters and beat some people 1v1. But thats not why I created this. Some of us that play mesmer play it because there was a time when power shatter mesmer was the most fun and skilled build in the game. It played a lot like a thief with huge burst and your only survivability being a short invuln and stealth since you pretty much had to go muruader or full zerker to get any decent damage out of it.

Then you guys gave almost everything in the game some sort of reveal and everything’s survivability got buffed with the elite specs. Now you have no way to survive and the famous mesmer burst does about as much as a precision strike on a rev unless you take mental anguish even with scholar runes. Even in wvw where the burst was even more insane, it only does decent damage against people with no armor investment now which is basically nothing left in the game. Outside of the burst shatter mesmer has no sustain damage as greatsword auto attacks do laughable damage. I went roaming in wvw with mesmer today and “bursted” a guardian for 1.2k mind wrecks WITH mental anguish, scholar runes, utility, and food and it crit. My “burst” did somewhere around 4-5k damage and then I’m useless until mind wreck recharges. On top of all that everything in this game seems to have reveal. You guys have buffed thief so much and its still not being used in spvp meta. Shatter mesmer always played similar to thief and has gotten nothing. It is becoming near useless in all game modes.

Power shatter was always high risk high reward. Now its just extremely high risk, no reward. While it can still decimate full zerk thieves and eles, thats if the burst actually lands considering the long obvious wind-up of greatsword 2. I don’t think the base damage of mind wreck needs to be buffed, but with the amount of damage mitigation just being thrown around like its nothing, power shatter mesmer is becoming a dying build.

I just want to throw 3 ideas out there as simple potential buffs to at least make this build usable again.
1. Increase greatsword auto attack damage.
2. Buff mental anguish slightly by making shatters also ignore protection.
3. Rework empowered illusions in Domination so that the player deals increased damage per boon on the opponent.

I’m not saying all three of these need to happen since I think 2 and 3 together could be overkill but right now, power shatter just feels like a class to troll uplevels in wvw.

Silverkey.2078

As I said, I really feel that the problem of power shatter is MOSTLY that there is no place for roamers in the current PvP meta (something which thief is also suffering from).

Every single build in the meta is currently too tanky to be killed in a reasonable amount of time, which prevents efficient roaming.

The main and maybe even only way to fix this is by nerfing sustain and reset potential across the board.

People don’t get the point.

I’m talking about the time when there is no zerg, no blob and no karma train.

I’m talking about the time when you log on and stand in spawn and there is NOBODY. At the moment that is a large proportion of the day.

The decision I’m facing at that time is: Do I go to pve, do I keep standing in spawn or do I do something on this godforsaken map.

At least speed-runes and golems saved me time running sups. Running sups across this huge, empty map, again and again.

At least speed-runes made the whole nonsensical process a bit more fast and less excruciating.

There is nobody who cares about defending, there is nobody at all. And if there is a golem-rush and zergs and blobs etc during kitten -time they have bloody mesmers anyway.

I complain about this sudden, totally unimportant change right now when there is a billion other important things they could fix.

It is like they force you to have an operation on your genitals but then they give you no anesthesia so you can enjoy the process fully conscious and then they also start punching in your genitals to make the experience more enjoyable.

You don’t balance classes. You either make them op or unviable.

Scrapper and Reaper were too strong and instead of adjusting those classes you make them pretty much unviable.
Druid and Eles sustain seems entirely overpowered now after Reapers are gone, Mesmer didn’t even got touched while Revenant nearly remains the same as before.
Next patch you probably will kill two other classes while making others overpowered.

You are just unable to find a healthy midway.

You mention druid and ele sustain where both classes were heavily investing in healing power, the pre-nerf scrapper was basically a buffed up version of celestial d/d ele minus the total lack of healing power investment.

Expecting to have that kind of sustain without bringing any healing power …it’s just ludicrous

Make choices now!,
-You want celestial level of sustain?…Use mender or cleric
-You want dmg?…Use paladin

And at the contrary of scrappers, eles use cleric and do no dmg unless we go paladin with min sustain.
About necros what’s the problem? They’ve lost their gimmick and I see no issue with that, I’m sure that “good” players will adapt; but I’m sure that most necros thought that shutting down people by simply pressing a couple buttons..was actually skill intensive…

yeahhhhh…really no sorry

Eles had to adapt after all..you can do the same!, nothing but nerfs from Sept 2015 till now:

-celestial removed
-protection duration nerfed
-aura duration nerfed
-warhorn nerfed
-fire line gutted and made unusable
-dagger off hand nerfed
-diamond skin nerfed

Conveniently this community shows always a short memory when it comes to nerfs on professions they don’t play, but this is to be expected anyway: bad players will complain as they’ve lost their fotm gimmick while good players will adapt and make new builds for the copy/paste population, which in the meantime will keep spelling doom and gloom on the forum

So are druids, but that doesn’t make the playstyle any less kitten for those uninterested in the buffbot/healbot role. I wasn’t a support class in GW1, I don’t want to be one in GW2.

Especially creating a role that revolves purely around alacrity when the PvP mobs are out to nerf it to the ground. Pretty terrible to have the class underpinned around one effect.

I want my old Well of Precognition back. If they’re gonna leave in this crap one, the least they could do is add some protection ticks to it and the end explosion could blind foes.

Druids are replaceable. Tempests can heal enough, mesmers can heal enough, guardians and engineers can even heal enough. Chrono is completely irreplaceable. No other class can do anything remotely similar.

Ultimately, you’re just complaining for the sake of complaining. “Oh woe is me, my class is only the best in the game at doing a particular role, I want it to be best in the game at doing the particular role that I like better”.

This patch literally had nothing but buffs for Mesmer, and you’re sitting here complaining that they didn’t buff it enough. Do you understand how absurd that is?

Druid’s 15% damage increase via grace of the land and spotter+frost spirit is about as replaceable as alacrity chrono is.

Which is to say, not in any remotely optimized group.

Sorry you can’t empathize with anything that doesn’t bother you personally.

Before chrono mesmer was meta anyways in group content, be it as portal bot or quickness/reflect bot for speed records, yet that didn’t stop you from complaining yourself about it until chrono arrived. I’m not sure why you feel entitled to be the determining voice for what should and should not matter to people.

Your trivialization of the role that chrono plays is absurd. “Oh it’s just an alacrity bot, it’s meaningless.” If you want to make that argument, you must be willing to apply it to every single class. “Oh ele is just a dps bot”. “Oh revenant is just a boon bot.” “Oh Druid is just a heal bot.” In fact, one can easily make the argument that ele is playing a far less interesting role in PvE because 99% of their play is pressing 1, 2, and 5.

As I said before, you’re just complaining because chrono doesn’t fit the exact definition of what you want it to do. It had a powerful, necessary, and thoroughly engaging role that it plays in PvE right now, one that requires you to pay attention and use your entire build for a purpose.

The difference between current PvE builds and portal bot is massive. Back then we were taken for a single utility, with time warp as a bit of an extra. The current situation requires your entire build, all of your utilities, multiple weapon skills, traits, and gear all focused on performing precise rotations to maximize your support to a group.

Ultimately, in a perfect world every class could be useful in every role. But guess what, this world isn’t perfect and neither is the balance team. If every class in the game is a viable pick in a PvE party, they’ll count the balance situation as a success, and so that needs to be the benchmark that we use as well.

Oh, please, don’t wear out the word “absurd”, will you.

Meta mesmer before chrono did more than just portal, and the discovery and smart usage of portals on top of reflects, iWarden chaining, mob pulling and blink tricks makes far more mechanical creativity than just spamming alacrity generation skills.

We went from smart use of Power Block on bosses to it being useless garbage, reflects were marginalized, pulls were marginalized. You use shatters that you wouldn’t use otherwise and at significant DPS cost just to keep that stupid boon running so everybody else can actually do something.

You can spin the whole vanilla WoW totem bot however you want, but the chrono is there for one thing and that’s alacrity generation. If scepter for all its misery farted alacrity despite being a dogkitten weapon, we would use it just for the alacrity. The mesmer’s contributions other than the single buff are that irrelevant.

And let’s not sit here and pretend like ele and revenant aren’t providing utility while still being top tier DPS.

Mesmer and ranger players who bought into the vanilla game under the premise of being a DPS class as they advertised got screwed with this bait and switch of elite professions.

What’s worse, this whole alacrity fiasco is only gonna make it worse down the line when they introduce the next elite spec or try to support non-chrono mesmers as whatever they have to offer has to beat out alacrity, which is highly unlikely to happen.

See as ANet has no clue how to balance properly, I expect the reaction to be:

  • Hanging head in disappointment at what used to be a great and fun game

They’ll probably:

  • Buff warriors and thieves unnecessarily
  • Nerf the wrong thing on ele and necro which end up not affecting them
  • Leave scrappers OP
  • Buff druids
  • Try to buff unused revenant legends
  • Make some elaborate nerf to chronomancer Moa that either does nothing or ends up making the skill completely useless
  • Remove an amulet or two because that’s the problem…

What they really should do:

  • Nerf all HoT specs. All need nerfed, just some more than others.
