It would probably bring in even more revenue than it currently is. There’s a reason why Tera, Rift, Swtor, Archeage, are doing well with population numbers, and that’s because it’s free.

Trion rekt Rift to the point that load of old playerbase simply left with memory that Rift was once a great game.
Tera is losing playerbase on daily basis. They have server merges once every 6 months at least.
When was Archeage launched? Few servers that obviously were capped in no time + release hype. What’s more, majority of my friends and guild mates simply checked it and came back, complaining that it’s a waste of time.
Also, you don’t understand the basis of F2P model.
People mainly disagree with that model not because there will be bots farming around or couple of spammers maybe.
Because F2P model doesn’t bring only thing thing together.

I actually feel bad for anet as it is. We only pay once, the price is really low and we still expect them to give us plenty more of content. I don’t think making the game free to play would help them much…

I already play one one F2P game, I’d rather GW2 stay the way it is. The F2P game that I play is so out of balance, when you compare the cash shoppers to the free players, that it’s not funny. The free players are nothing but cannon fodder and it’s really hard to for the company attract new players to the game with how messed up the in game economy is; everything is ran by the cash shoppers. Personally, I have put over two grand into that game and that pales in comparison to what other players have invested in it.
I have since stopped putting money into games where the player can buy the upper hand. It’s no fun when you cheat to get to the top.
I get the impression OP is having trouble winning in PvP and wants weaker opponents brought in so he can finally win a match.
I think that maybe not free to play but something like free access till level 30 to bring new people , they will try spvp/eotm , maybe even dungeon .
Free Trial period did end around 2 weeks ago.
