Excellent!
Thanks for keeping us posted on the resolution.

You would have had to “salvage all rares” and the dye would have shown up in the preview, before you clicked the confirmation. “Shadow Abyss” is a rare dye, not fine or masterwork.
(That said and somewhat off-topic: I’d prefer that the limited edition dyes were made to be exotic, so that “salvage all” won’t work on them, among other reasons.)
I really wish the rift event icons only showed up if you had the Rift Stabilizer in your inventory. The “nearby event” guide is pretty useless right now.

This sounds like you might should open a ticket with customer support rather than a forum thread… I found the first time I thought I had a bug, I did both, because I was new back then and didn’t know which would work, but the support was great and the forum never saw the light of day. Just an opinion that a ticket might help you out faster.
Your best bet is starting a support ticket, work with ANet to troubleshoot.
————————————
Question 1:
- Why does GW2 disconnect me from the game, telling me there is a Network Error whilst I am connected to the internet, whilst my other games or facebook is still connected? IS this a server-script who need to be looked at?
Error reporting is an inexact art and few software developers (including Microsoft) get it right that often, especially putting things in language that makes sense to non-programmers.
Imagine a high-end automobile with the latest in tech helping it operate at peak efficiency. Of course, it’kitten by a drunk driver in a flatbed truck, and the engine case is cracked and fluids are leaking all over… you go to the car, to see how bad the damage is and the vehicle’s computer helpfully describes the issue:
“Out of Oil.”
A true statement, but entirely useless in troubleshooting.
That’s probably the case here.
In short, ignore the text of the error message and realize that your game is unable to connect with ANet’s servers.
That could happen for all sorts of reasons, from something in the middle (a probably with internet backbone between you and them, which doesn’t affect things like Facebook with redundant networks) to something on your end (port problems), your ISP (over-blown throttling), to something on ANet’s end.
You’ll need to run something like pingplotter to identify where the signal is lost and give ANet the details, via a support ticket.
Question 2
- The Black Screen with the visible mouse-pointer is completely new to me, I’ve been playing 2 years GW2… never seen this. Why is this happening? Any reason?
There are several reasons, including problems with your graphical processing unit, CPU, or other cables. I had a similar issue that only affected GW2, but when I ultimately found the source, it turned out to be a melted hard drive cable; it just didn’t “slip” until GW2 was heating things up inside (not hotter than acceptable; just too hot for a weak cable).
Those can be hard to troubleshoot. One method, if you are comfortable, is to shut down your computer, disconnect it from the power, and re-seat as many components as you can, cleaning things out with a dust blower.
Question 3
- Why can’t one login properly, only after repeatable shutting down the client and re-launching it solves the loggin issue after 5+ to a maximum of 15 tries.
That sounds like a symptom of some other problem. If you’re game has trouble connecting generally, it’s likely that you’ll have trouble logging in, too.
PS: Are there any other players having this issue, or I am entirely alone with this?
Every day, every game ever invented has people having trouble connecting, including GW2. That doesn’t mean their issues are the same as yours; there are all sorts of ways that people have their computers set up and it can be hard to distinguish what’s special on your end (because something always is) and what might be specific to the game in question.
There are certainly times when a game is the primary root cause for most/many of the errors; it’s a lot more rare than people think for popular games. Usually, the issue is something odd on our end (or between us and the game company’s network).
FWIW, if you can give a step-by-step set of instructions that generate the problem every time, that’s sufficient for a good bug report. The real trick to fixing anything in software is the first one: be able to generate the error on demand.
All I want is for them to reverse the STUPID pve nerf changes made in the last one.

Revenant and mesmer changes made to PVE for the sake of kitten WvW and sPVP.

Guys — you have the information you need, and this thread is becoming unnecessarily caustic.
We know everyone is disappointed by the delay — no one wants this new content in your hands more than we do! But things happen, and we let you know as soon as we knew we could not hit today’s release window. So please, let’s just look forward to tomorrow. In the meantime, I’ll lock this thread.

Was it that hard to say this earlier? You’ve really wasted so much of peoples time and energy by not saying this earlier.
You should have said this before!!!
Maybe you should’ve made this statement about 4h ago ,speaking as an EU player
all of you should re-think what you saying…. for kitty sake… make a game…. try to make it stable for world wide , realese patches every 2 months with content… and then complain….
Your Kitty saltiness is boring… whiners and cry baby all over forum because patch didnt go live today… end of the kitty world… be happy that servers are still running and u can play the game.
“realese patches every 2 months with content” two months to make a small map and a few story instances. lol
The point is, they should have admitted it wasn’t going to be out today earlier today, instead of being overly optimistic.
small map and few story instance is nothing?… making models of enemy, hills, rivers, ocean, ice, monsters, npc, clothing, colouring, animation. Thats done in 1-2 days in your small little brain?… god why do ppl say kitty stuff like this when they have no knowledge about development of games..
Because this generation of players is about kittening whenever something doesn’t go their way. Being yet another anonymous pseudonyme make it so easy for these people to be mean without realizing there are actual people working behind that to try and fix thing for them.
It’s truly embarassing but not surprising considering the world we live in.
I really wonder if all the people complaining are so perfect at their job (should they have one) that they think they can blame people for the kittening weather!

I’m glad I used 8 hours of PTO (paid time off) to play the new raid wing today.
Yup.
Had my entire day ruined sitting around waiting for any info at all, now my entire week is off schedule. If you have a problem or messed up at least admit to it so people can move on with their days/lives thanks.

Well again they did announce first an initial delay (as pointed out by Ayrilana) and after working at it all day, it’s just not going to happen. Ergo this statement here.
They’re working on it even now. What happened was out of their power. Try to be a little understanding. They can’t control the weather.
So what you guys going to do for the players? What we getting ? some gems would be nice :P
Hahahahaa… you’re not serious with this, are you?
_
Thanks Anet. You guys take care and stay warm.
Here we have people without power and with a potentially hazardous storm and all some can think about is omfg is the game going to get updated. ;;
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Well obviously, should have just said that earlier today.
Yup.

They have been saying that all day. Way to pay attention.
I’m not happy the update isn’t out either, but kitten happens. A storm happened. They can’t do anything about that. Stop being crybabys and shut up. You’re all pathetic.
I don’t get why people are so salty. Sorry, but if you decided to take a day of your JOB to play a game and then the update was not ready you’ve no one to blame but you.

Way to be a jerk. Like this was something they did on purpose? They had no control over the weather, and CLEARLY they thought maybe they COULD get it out today. It’s not like they sat in their chairs twirling their mustaches going, “Let’s make people waste time ON PURPOSE!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!”
Seriously, the level of selfish entitlement of some people.
I appreciate the delay but you really should’ve made an executive decision regarding the snowstorm and the unforeseen setbacks earlier to prevent people from wasting their time doing nothing, like taking time off of work which they won’t get back.
You know, there are other things to do in life. If you are seriously sitting around waiting and taking time off work for a game that is not time sensitive then you need to look to yourself before telling others what they should be doing.
I sympathize with Mike and the rest of the ArenaNet team. As a software dev I know how much pressure there is to meet a promised delivery date. It’s very hard to take an objective view, especially if there is a chance that last minute heroics will win through. Let’s face it, we’re all gamers here, including the dev team and we WANT to pull through and beat the boss.
But sometime your DP is at max, your armor is broke, you’re out of cons and you have to /resign. I’m sure today feels sucky for everyone at ArenaNet and the team but we’ll all get over it. I’m not sure what to say if you took PTO today because you just HAD to be first in the raid. That sucks too and I’m not going to say “don’t do it again”, because if you did that it’s because you REALLY, REALLY wanted to get in there because you love playing this game.
All the best to the ArenaNet team and hope tomorrow feels better than today.
Disappointing news but understandable. Jormag has won this fight but we shall not let him win the war! Thank you guys for all your hard work.
Oh, for Eir’s sake, people, when a server goes down hard like when the power goes out, they can easily get corrupted, then you have to rebuild it,(just think how long it takes you to set up a new home PC, and then add a few hours) then restore all the files and data back, and then have to reprogram the stuff since the last backup. I am impressed that it will may only take a day.
Good job to all the devs! Thank you for your hard work.
I don’t understand why people praise Anet for kittening up this hard and wasting everyone’s time. The outage was yesterday, if you knew you were not going to release today kittening say so 8 hours ago.
They didn’t mess up, a storm hit them, you idiot.
Ironically the people who are being kittens and demanding that ANet should have released a statement earlier in the day are displaying the exact behavior that pushes companies away from releasing bad news like this.
Yeah and also ironic that they’re getting slammed because they were doing their best to get it out today to not disappoint people. I feel that there was no way they can win here.
As much as I am disappointed to not get to play it today, it must be as equally disappointing for you guys to spend months making this update just for it to get delayed by a snowstorm.
Thank you for working so hard to get it back up as soon as possible. And thank you to all the devs for working on it tonight.
Im still super excited for this update!
I’m glad I used 8 hours of PTO (paid time off) to play the new raid wing today.
And what, they had control over the weather? Jesus, man, get real.
I appreciate the delay but you really should’ve made an executive decision regarding the snowstorm and the unforeseen setbacks earlier to prevent people from wasting their time doing nothing, like taking time off of work which they won’t get back.
However, if the patch is coming ASAP, for the love of god, don’t release the raid wing at the same time. Make sure you release it the day after to give everyone a fair chance at it, otherwise it’s just unfair.
Get over it. Life happens. Pretty sure your life wont be drastically altered by a delay in a game.
And Raid comes with the patch which will be dropped at the same time everywhere. What isn’t fair about that? SMH
I appreciate the delay but you really should’ve made an executive decision regarding the snowstorm and the unforeseen setbacks earlier to prevent people from wasting their time doing nothing, like taking time off of work which they won’t get back.
You mean like the time Anet employees have been spending trying to fix this issue that was out of their control to begin with? Time they won’t get back either? Relax man, they are working on it.
Ironically the people who are being kittens and demanding that ANet should have released a statement earlier in the day are displaying the exact behavior that pushes companies away from releasing bad news like this.
