Hello my Name is Enis Beqiri, some of you may know me from the European 1v1 Arenas I have a list of things Anet should consider changing on Guardian before Patch, because they would make Guard much more viable after Patch and would solve many balancing Issues.
Warning Keep in mind, these are changes based on my personal opinion as a experienced PvP Guardian since Beta and may not match with everyones opinion. It is simply what I personally think should change and I would like to hear your thoughts about this topic Lets get started:
1st and most important thing Anet should change on Guardian is giving us some kind of ground-target port. I know Guardians are not supposed to be very mobile, but the thing is simple. Getting focused as a Guardian in an high-class Match is mostly our doom. All the blinds, blocks and especially heals wont help, since we simply can’t get away. Thats why i love Dragonhunter as the darker side of the Guardian, because for the first time we are allowed to be a little bit selfish i would suggest changing the Longbow Skill “Deflecting Shot” into a ground-target Port with high Cooldown or changing the Utility Skill “Contemplation of Purity” into a ground-target port with full condition cleanse. Personally that is the thing Guardians need the most
2nd change which I think is necessary is to switch the Valor traits Smiters Boon and Stalwart Defender, because I as a competive Guard would never run Focus AND Shield, so I’d like to choose between those Weapons and take their matching Traits, without missing Smiters Boon. It would even make playing Shield much more rewarding since you could combine Stalwart Defender with Strength in Numbers for Bonus Toughness
3rd is to remove the internal Cooldown on the Trait Might of the Protector. I as a PvP Guardian always loved to get rewarded for blocking attacks and seeing that I get 2 Stacks of might no matter how much I block with Shelter is very frustrating. So please remove the internal Cooldown, even leave it as it was with only one Stack Might per block, but please remove the Cooldown
4th issue I would have loved to see a change in, is to reduce the Shields Cooldowns, which happened yesterday, thanks Grouch
I would appreciate it so much if Anet could make these changes happen. Just imagining them fires my motivation for Heart of Thorns I’d like to hear now other constructive opinions about my suggestions and would like to hear your suggestions. Have a nice Day my fellow Guardians

I will and will always be the one that’s loves you guys but also be your harshest critic. The changes/nerfs to guardian are unacceptable, but most annoying part is the continuation of not acknowledging anything we say or recommend.
What is the point of having forums or asking for opinions when you go completely against what we ask for or reccomend. I hate to be the bringer of bad news but it seems not having a dev that plays guardian at a high tier is hurting your development when it comes to guardian and has been apparent for years, which is why no one uses them now.
The nerfs on a lot of traits and virtue range were absolutely uncalled for. Idk why a lot of our traits revolve around retal when it’s the worst boon in the game. Shield is still an atrocious weapon on guardian even though I love shield. But considering a guardians role, it’s god awful. Our long cooldowns considering the effectiveness of them have always plagued us such as our virtues, who’s range was decreased for no reason. I assume it’s because you thought the range was too long for DH, assuming everyone should run DH.
Our traits and skill revolve around to many stationary acts. Symbols are terrible skills unless you pve in my opinion. We are still the most immobile class in the game with no access to swiftness outside staff or 1 bad utility skill. Yes retreat is an awful skill sorry. We should be the best condi cleanser in the game yet our weapon skills can’t even condi clear or heal effectively outside a stationary staff 4, staff 2, and focus 4. The heals all get negated or reduced with how much poison which is in the game. Our shouts have been so mediocre for years. Sanctuary is lackluster and on a terrible cooldown. Why don’t we gain access to resistance boon or slow? Why doesn’t sanctuary grant access to resistance while in it? More effective ways to cleanse condies or heal?
Everything I referred to only touches base for bunker guardian. Don’t get me started on dps guardian. You may think I’m being harsh but after playing so many classes since guardian has been so lackluster, my assumption was true as to how lackluster/ineffective SO many of our traits and skills are in this meta. I have never see so many useless skills on a class or bad it was until I played other classes. I mean merciful intervention? The attempt to add a terrible form of a shadow step to it, was the biggest form a fail and showcased your lack of understanding guardian from our perspective.
All I saw was a bunch of traits being put together without much thought, and not putting them in the correct trait lines and tiers. No revamps to the core issue of guardian considering the reason we are out was due to the lacklusterness of our skills to begin with. Combining bad traits won’t fix the issue of you put little thought into it without taking the communities advice.
I have always had faith that maybe one day you guys would do something spectacular to put guardian in line with other classes like you did with member hopefully and Warriors, when they were awful. But if you don’t listen to us and just do what you guys want to do then all I can say RIP to guardian and the meta because we’ve tried helping.

Guardian Changes aka “We don’t care.”
Soooo my name is Enis Beqiri, I’m playing Guardian in PvP pretty much since Beta of GW2, many of you might know me from the 1v1 [Angz] Server and though the years I’ve learned that Anet doesnt care much about us at all, since we’re pretty good balanced, what isn’t the case at all.
We had exactly TWO (!!!) builds which were viable since Beta
1st Offensive Meditation Guard
2nd Bunker Shout Guard
All Anet did in this Patch is the same thing they do always. PRETENDING to change something for Guardians, by combining some lame traits, just to make Guardians think they did something.
The Meta is changing in an alarming Rate?! YEAH, but not for Guardians. At the moment we’re let’s say playable, our way of sustaining by outhealing Damage is weak, but we do good Damage as Offensive Guard and are not used, but playable as Bunker Guards.
While pretty much everything got a Buff Gurdians got like 3 new Traits, which are weak as hell and some combined stuff which nerfed Offensive Guard AND Bunker Guard
1st Offensive Guard: 1 Seconds Cooldown on “Might of the Protector”?! I loved to use Shelter to Stack up Might in Teamfights. What you are trying to tell me is, that when i block like 15 hits with shelter I get 2 STACKS OF MIGHT because of internal Cooldown?! IS THIS SERIOUS?!
2nd Bunker Guard: After HoT Bunker Guards are going to be replaced anyways by Revenants as a Bunker Support Class, trust me. And even then making Bunker Guards choose between “Pure of Voice” and “Writ of Persistence” ?! I never liked to play Bunker anyways, but alot of Guards did, so its disgusting to see what happens to this Spec.
Even Surveys say that Guardians are the least minded class in Game, since Anet thinks WE ARE PRETTY WELL BALANCED.
I don’t know about your Devs Anet, but I don’t think you have a Dev who plays a High-Class Guardian. Otherwise Grouch wouldnt present a Build on Dragonhunter which drops 4k Burn on a PvE Target which would NEVER NEEEEVER work in real PvP, since no Person would EVER engage on a Guardian THIS way.
So I, as a High-Class Guardian since Beta will tell you the Truth. GUARDIANS HAVE A TON OF PROBLEMS. Let me just tell you a few, if you want some more just pm me Ingame.
1st We have the lowest amount of viable Specs ingame, which are getting nerfed.
2nd We have the most of non used Utility Skills and Weapons (for example Shield) compared to ANY other class
3rd We have the WORST way of sustaining despite being a defensive Class – OUTHEALING THE DAMAGE. It doesnt matter Anet if you Buff our Heal a little bit so we can outheal for example 1000 insteat of 800 points. 200 POINTS ARE NOTHING. WE NEED A RELIABLE WAY OF SUNSTAINING. All the heals, blocks and blinds, doesnt matter anything, if we’re too immobile to AVOID Damage. I would suggest something like a Port or something in HoT on Longbow instead of this useless “Deflecting” Shot. It would even be okay since Dragonhunter isn’t the same altruistic Class Guardians are. Sometimes even we Guards just need A LITTLE MOBILITY, to avoid some trouble. Come on it would be just one Port and not 50 Waterfields, 30 Explosive Finishers, 15 Medikits and Perma Stability just like another class *cough ENGIS*.
Yeah I dont know if even one Dev will read this and make this go threw his mind, but me and alot of other Guardians I know are losing the fun in GW2, I’m even considering to don’t Buy Guild Wars 2 HoT, which would be sad, since played Guild Wars 1 since I was a child. There are good Guardians around there Anet. And if you don’t have someone to care about them, ask some of them. I’m sure they’ll help you out.

Well Guys many of you probably have seen the last stream and I have some thoughts about it. Actually there are 2 playable Specs for Guardian:
a) Meditation Offesive Guard
b) Bunker Shout Guard
My opinion on the last Stream is that Revenant will make Bunker Guard pretty much useless, since it has more Team Support and strong Bunker Potential PLUS High Condi Dmg. So we Guards are left with only Meditation Offensive Bunker and some weird gimmicki Condi stuff. Also i personally wont play the Traps cause i dont think they are worth it. (Hard to catch people, no sustain etc.)
(I really dont care much about Bunker, since I play Offensive Guard since Beta of GW2, i just want to see making Anet Meditation Guards much better, since it will be the only playable Spec and we lack extremly in Mobility. Healing is probably the worst way of sustaining, better is to avoid DMG. So i want to see a Port on Longbow just like the Thiefs one please, just with a High Cooldown)

Ok, i have seen topics on making it a trap and I just completely disagreed with that idea.
So made this thread to get thoughts/ideas on HS being a signet
HS is a decent heal with good party support. It drops the longest water field in the game and applies regen and removes conditions periodically. Seems pretty good.
Add into that signet mastery for might, opening strike and cooldown reduction. Seems a bit powerful in all honesty so increase the signet duration to say ~36secs.
Puts the cooldown with mastery back to around 29seconds which is pretty close to what it is already at. Maybe even decrease the water field from 10secs to 8secs?
Seems pretty good, right? So what about passives? Needs to be something that in all honesty wont make the heal mandatory.
HS Passive Idea 1: Heal yourself every time your pet attacks (set amount, doesnt scale with damage given)
Passive Idea 2: Heal your pet every time you take damage/attack (Dont know if the heal would be better on attack or on damage taken)
Passive Idea 3: Your pet periodically converts conditions on itself into boons (since the actual spring cleanses conditions, a passive PET condi cleanse isnt soo bad)
Passive Idea 4: Boon Duration or Condition Reduction on you AND your pet (reduction might be better since there is a trait for boon duration already, something like 10-15% maybe)
Ideas, thoughts, feedback?

…. I still want to start talking about pvp balance even if I have no idea about the game.
Seraphim weapons, a sister and opposite BLT weapon set to the shadow weapons (Similar to how Entropy and Genesis balance each other out.
Have a light/angelic theme to them, countering the shadow skins dark/demonic style
For the sake of input/output.
Guardians have been lacking in:
- Ranged attacks
- Soft CCs
- Mobility
- Condition builds (some may argue)
Devs tried to provide Guardians with
- Long Bow
- Immobilizes
- Another leap
- Modified burning mechanics
So they met each disparity with a response, just not the way we expected. Does it make it wrong? I don’t know yet.

I have to say that I don’t sympathize with most of the proposed changes.
Only a few of them are well thought over and justified.
I won’t go over all of them, but some to point out.
Steady Focus… You’d like such as 10% flat damage boost (that is a lot, actually on par with Predator’s Onslaught) to be penalized less.
Enlargement is a 25% damage boost. You are reading that right, 25%. That’s a table turner. Stating objections like “we want to have full reward from it all the time” is ridiculous.
About Strider’s defense… This is the very trait that is going to put us into WvW zergs. Front Line ranger will negate roughly 50% of the enemy projectiles. And you want it swapped. I’m saluting to you, Sir.
Most Dangerous game… You do realize… That you are asking for 12 might when below 50%HP? Nope, that doesn’t feel right.
About spike trap … It’s a day and night difference to ress your teammates with this one. I believe you didn’t forget about the synergy with Rune of the Trapper.
And so forth.

… But some like these I pinpointed out … It’s clear that you want to justify rangers too much. Not only we will have unique mechanics that will put us at a rightful place, we’ll get more team support that we needed, we got everything we asked for concerning longbow …

i like this idea, but make it so you can choose 1 of your other characters as well, so i could be going around on my ranger with my current character or else switch it to my mesmer as my mini.

New toy – Crawling Guide “Crawl like a True Soldier” – when we use it we start crawling (mechanic of move toy, you equip it and press 1 to use). It would be a new meta in WvW, cuz crawling is exemplar behavior of warfare.
Now why is this good for us? Well simple, the introduction of a viable Power Ranger build, though it has yet to be proven, forces us simple minded people to think and adapt. We need to make new builds to counter these forces, or we will keep on being killed by them as they pew pew us to death…
Power Rangers can attain a certain role within their group, though it is currently in debate what kind, but if they settle, we need to adjust as we did before;
When the so called “Condition Meta” was ruling, Guardians were shoehorned within their Shoutbuild
Many renowned Guardians would argue that this is simply the way to go, and there should be no debate in that, up untill indeed the Power Rangers are starting to rise…
Now suddenly, and looking at the current sustain bunker+Power meta, you will start to notice that Guardians can more and more shift away from their current build, and concentrate on mitigating other sources of damage – with shouts maybe, but what about Wall of Reflection and Shield of Absorbtion ?
Only good against Rangers you think? Think again, these two alone can ensure a very stable fight against any kinds of Projectiles – Warrior Longbow, Power Necromancer Lich, Mesmer with Staff and Scepter etc.. etc.
Now we are still in “Lalaland” looking at theorycrafting, but what I wanted to point out is that a sudden shift in power can make underused, or previous considered “weak” builds stand out a lot more…
What about Focus Elementalists? Or Staff Elementalists? Reflects on Engineers, Mesmers, and my personal favourite, Warrior’s Missile Deflection ? I have had a ton of fun just running a simple Skullcrack build, only to see Rangers becomming completely confused as to what to do as I approached them with a Missile Deflecting Stance
The Ranger Changes have made us think, most people do not want to adapt their current builds and/or mindsets, but in general, shifting the power to a class with such a unique way of doing damage will ensure a better variety of builds within the Meta Game…
Are Rangers truly Overpowered? I would argue and say no, give it a couple of weeks for people and their builds to adapt, and you will notice them being in healthy position. Besides, many Rangers I have spoken with already know the flaws within their Build, so now it is up for everyone else to find those as well
I hope it was a fun read, and I certainly hope for more shifts in power – the sheer fact that I have made several builds already that might become viable in the longer run excites me more than anything else

Alrighty, these are the challenges I like the most, so here we go! Incomming wall of text!
I got 13 characters now, of which I have one that is a constant spare… Amongst these, I have played nearly all of them to some extend, excluding Thief and Ranger, which I only “played around with”.
Ranger is the only class in which I have played less than 50 PvP matches with, even my Thief has been touched upon more.
Reason I write this, is because people tend to say that those protecting the Ranger changes are “Biased Rangers” themselves, but no, this is comming from a guy who plays Ele, War and Necro most, and a close fourth being Guardian…
But Brandon, those running Gattling Guns insta kill you with just pressing 2, it is not fair!
Yea whatever…. I decided to look past some of the things that have been said, mainly complaints about Rapid Fire and see what is actually the case… I can tell you, and shame on you because you fell for it;
For the longest time, about a year if not longer, Rangers were “a class to ignore”… Sure, Spirit Rangers became “viable” at some point, but even those were no where close to being truly overpowered…
After Elementalists came back into the meta game, the support a Spirit Ranger could give, was the one Spirit of Nature pretty much becomming a soft support healbot… Whooptydoo, the Spirit was an actual bigger threat than the Ranger
But then the 9th came, and all of a sudden things changed! Rangers got skills, traits and utilities buffed, and “ah ma gawd” you cannot ignore them anymore! And here ladies and gentlemen is the actual problem….
Most people hate adapting… We have been “stuck” with a nearly the same Meta ever since I joined the scene, and probably before that as well. There have been almost no big shifts within the meta, aside from people picking up a more popular class/build over another – in essence, the roles of a class barely to never changed… Reason why Guardian almost never had changes within this past time is “because they were in a good spot” or rather “the changes were so minimal that the Guardian’s role remains unchanged”
So how does this relate to Ranger, or more specifically Power Rangers? Good question, so allow me to answer;
Power Rangers are unique within most Zerker Specs, it would be dreadful to explain, but I will tell the most obvious things about them; They use projectiles as their main source of damage on range, got no teleports, no instant gap-closers and no other way to mitigate damage other than dodging (Aside maybe from the stealth on longbow). If you think about it, all we need to do is find a way to combat this

What is this “dodging” witchcraft you speak of!? The community has made it very clear that the only thing to do when facing a ranger is to stand still and face tank a burst attack and then come qq on the forums.

Its hillarious how making a skill, which was previously one of the worst choices other then AA spamming, into a burst that is barely on par with backstab (almost same CD too if we take into account revealed time), yet there is at the very least 7 ways to completely counter/avoid it.
And still you guys cry this much

Lately I’ve seen human gods backpieces, for only Dwayna, Balthazar, Lyssa and Grenth. But what about Melandru and Kormir?
Also, there’s a few gods weapons.. but it’s too few weapons.. and not all the gods has his/hers own weapon..
Dwayna – Wings of Dwayna
Grenth – Tear of Greath
Melandru – Melandru’s Graze
Lyssa – Lyss and Ilya
Still, there is no Balthazar or Kormir weapons….
And now for the armor part.
There’s some absolutely amazing artworks on the gods armors..!!! Why haven’t these been released during these past 2 years?
I would LOVE to create my own human gods.. hehehe.
I only found Balthazar, Dwayna, Grenth and Melandru’s armor artworks.. but please, release these armors just like you did in GW1..
I feel you. Playing at “top tier” where I REALLY need that condi clear NOW I can’t afford to try to run into 600 range of my pet. Not to mention if it’s Kyhlo and my pet is running ALL AROUND the clock tower and is rarely withing 600 units. Sure, I can swap and then clear, but then my pet dies, or that epidemic necro takes advantage when they see the signet of please epi my pet! symbol pop up.
This change would just be a QoL change for the ranger. It wouldn’t be OP, but it should do exactly what was suggested. Clear from allies within 600 radius of pet but always clear from the ranger.
Too many fights, and therefore games, can be lost by trying to clear from yourself and having the pet be at 601 range.
Am I good?… I’m good.

Note: I’ve made outlines for all the ones I haven’t provided recipes for, but I haven’t made them yet. I have a limited alcohol budget so it may take a while before I can post all of them, but I’ll update the thread when I do.
EXPERIMENTAL OOZE BOOZE (asura)
- 2 oz ice
- 2 oz crushed pineapple with juice
- 2 oz coconut rum
- 3 oz blue curacao
- 1 tsp grenadine
1. Blend the ice cubes and pineapple until slushy.
2. Add the rum and curacao and blend thoroughly.
3. Pour into a laboratory flask, then add the grenadine and stir lightly to create a mottled blue-and-purple effect.
GLADIATOR SWILL (charr)
- 1.5 Tbsp of extremely fine (Turkish ground if possible) dark roast coffee (use decaf unless you want to risk a heart attack)
- 1 c water
- 2 oz whiskey
Soldier Version: nothing added
Fahrar Version: milk rations (recipe below)
1. Pour water into a small saucepan. Add the coffee but don’t stir it in, then put it on the stove, uncovered, at medium-low heat. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t come to a rolling boil, or else it will become too bitter.
2. When the coffee starts to bubble slightly and develop a light foam, remove it from the heat.
3. Optionally, let the foam dissipate and then put the saucepan back on the stove until the coffee begins bubbling again. This will help the grounds settle.
4. Pour slowly into a tin cup, trying to keep most of the grounds in the saucepan. Some will inevitably get in the cup and that’s okay; they’ll settle to the bottom as long as you don’t chug it.
5. Stir in the whiskey and (optional but recommended) milk rations to taste.
Milk Rations (original recipe from here):
- 12 oz canned evaporated milk
- 14 oz canned sweetened condensed milk
1. Whisk together the contents of both cans until thoroughly combined.
2. Store in the fridge and use the leftovers for your coffee—I strongly recommend making the iced coffee in that link!
VICTORIA’S RED WINE (human)
- 1 bottle of red wine
- 1 c brandy
- 1 c orange juice
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp lime juice
- 3 Tbsp grenadine (or to taste)
- 1/4-1/2 c each of cubed apple, kiwi, cantaloupe, and orange (plus some orange slices for garnish)
1. Combine all ingredients and leave in the fridge for at least 2 hours, but preferably overnight.
2. Ladle into wine glasses filled with ice to serve.
CELEBRATORY BEER (norn)
- 12 oz beer
- 1 Tbsp salted butter
- 1 1/2 Tbsp molasses
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ginger
- 1/8 tsp cloves
- a pinch of nutmeg
1. Heat the butter in a saucepan until it’s light brown, then add the molasses and spices. Stir and continue heating until it bubbles.
2. Add the beer, stir some more, and continue heating it until it’s hot but not boiling.
3. Pour into a stein. You might be able to make it foam if you pour it from high up, but you also might pour it all over your kitchen counter. (Guess which result I got!) If you think it’s worth the risk, give it a shot.
AUTUMN NECTAR (sylvari)
- 1/3 c chilled dry champagne
- 1/3 c chilled pear nectar
- 1/2 oz lemon juice
- 1/2 oz elderflower liqueur

Nobody can catch you > bunker in a position.
Nuke in seconds > high damage over time.
Reset the fight nuking-running/nuking-running > fight till die.And warrior have everything, condi, CC, mobility, tankiness, immunities. The most versatile class in the game by far.
Shattered mesmer is going to be nerf and still without mobility and chasing power.
And more antistealth mechanic coming.The mechanic of nuking and running is just SO good, and works SO great, letting you a free out of combat card that never fail.
For me, in the future, the same amounts of Thief and now more and more Warriors. Both with the same mechanic, nuking hard and resetting the fight.
please tell me how to land any “nuke” damage on any non-afk target with a GS. Im truly interested, cuz all i see warriors doing is print up to my ranger, try 100b through 3 seconds of evades then run off when it fails.
