I’m seriously sick of these type of threads. Druid is fine. The only place whare I feel my heals are unnecessary is fractal that’s all. And even there I can go with a spotter druid and do a great job. We got a great spot in pvp thanks to the druid spec. In WvW Druid is the best support class in my opinion. Since I started playing Druid with my guild they don’t want me to go back to my mesmer anymore. It is just amazing. Some people think that they have to play Druid pure support with nomads etc in WvW. Well that’s just wrong. Druid with a good hybrid build, gear and communication is a great addition to the group. You can do decent amount of damage, aoe cc, aoe heal etc. You just don’t know how to play it that’s all…

Loving the druid, zerk druid, cele druid. Works great, just dont focus only on healing. As for topic starter, whats your intention with this topic, cause saying its useless and not working after beta, without even knowing why just makes me think you dont understand what you playing.

This thread is not for discussing issues with new or existing content. Please start a new thread if you wish to discuss such things. Also, keep things civil. Nastiness, snark, and outright hate can go somewhere else — keep this thread free of it.

It’s no secret that there is a lot of bad blood between fans of instanced PvE and the development team at this point in GW2’s lifetime.

But with Raids on the way, perhaps this would be a good time to turn over a new leaf, wipe the slate clean, and try to repair relations between the players and the devs.

Let’s take a step forward, away from the dark past of dungeons and into the bright future of raids, and try to build a sense of comradery between the two camps. After all, we all want the same thing: A healthy, cooperative atmosphere that leads to the development of excellent, exciting, challenging, and fun instanced PvE encounters.

I believe that it will take a lot of time and effort to get dev/player relations to a healthy place, but we need to start somewhere! I think it would be a great start to put a human face on the Raid developers.

So towards that end, any ArenaNet employee who has been working on (or testing, or even just having fun playing!) the upcoming raid content is encouraged to post here and introduce yourself. Help us get to know you, and let us see your passion!

Some topic ideas:

- What’s your name?
- What do you do at ArenaNet? (Descriptions of the work you do are preferred over just a job title!)
- What has been your involvement with Raids?
- What feature of Raids are you most excited about? (Obviously just the bits you’re authorized to talk about!)
- What’s a funny story about something that’s happened to you or your party while play-testing Raids? (Obviously no spoilers! )
- What was your favorite encounter from the existing dungeon/fotm content? Why?
- Anything else you feel like sharing!

I’d love to get to know you all, and work to get rid of this “us vs. them” mentality that’s solidified in this community over the years. We understand that there isn’t a whole lot that you guys are allowed to talk about, but some friendly banter can go a long way towards building a brighter future (for all of us!) :-)

Biologically speaking he probably can’t produce them from thin air. He needs mass and energy for the process, which means while his army is potentially limitless he can’t just keep churning them out forever unless he has enough raw materials to do so. Given they are plants that means minerals, sunlight, and water. Probably magical energy as well, and he may replace the need for minerals and sunlight with flesh and blood.

But ultimately there is a finite amount of these resources, which means there is a finite number of Modrem he can produce at a time. Similar to most RTS games. Yes, you CAN keep mass producing troops, but you don’t have the resources to keep that up forever.

As far as I know, Spirits are treated the same way as Turrets, in which they scale from the player’s Condition Damage, Condition Duration, Boon Duration, Healing Power and considered a separate entity. The exception is Spirit of Nature, but that’s currently bugged and is supposed to scale with the player’s Healing Power.

I don’t think Anet would allow Moment of Clarity to work with Storm Spirit unless they shortened the duration of the active Daze. Would possibly be worried if it were to happen, seeing how they balance things out, they might chainsaw the initial daze just so it can have a 3s daze with MoC slotted.

Rangers are getting the option to become a Druid and wield a staff. There haven’t been many details other than that, but they are getting some love.

They also haven’t released information about the Engineer’s new Specialization. Patience.

Yeah what you mentioned about every class feeling left aside by Anet is true, I admit that but in my opinion its another thing with guardians. Litterally EVERY guardian is sick of hearing the words “guardian is in a good spot” and seeing nothing but some bigfixes and nerfs on the balance updates. Also you have to admid that the dissatisfaction about the Dragonhunter is by far the strongest. I dont know about you and it may just be me, but ive seen alot of daredevils, chronos, berserks and reapers, while ive seen deahonhunters and tempests very rarely in PvP i tried every elite spec right now and DH just feels like anet rushed it to finish it fast, it feels uncreative and is paradox running a rage class with traps (which i even wouldnt play when they woulf be ground target – traps suck) and thats why Our Guard community is so upset with it. Hearing litterally every balance update “Guard is in a good spot” and getting such an uncreative and rushed elite spec ofc makes this community rage. I personally just want to be viable in HoT PvP, not OP (i dont want any scrub switching to guard) – just viable enough for my team, because at the moment guardian is sure NOT in a good spot

But also i have to say i like your ideas alot too, i thought about the scepter idea too. I can see that you know what you are talking about and understand the class mechanic of guardians very well. Hope Anet considers some of your ideas, they are great

It comes down to a case of indirect nerfing. I’ve seen it many many times in other MMOs and MOBAs. Class X is in a good spot, they are among the favored in game mode 1, 2, 3 and 4. With Class X in a good spot, no real need to work on it, lets help the others “Catch Up”. Class Y and Z get some twinks and reworks. Now I don’t know too in-depth about Anet’s twinking and rework history, but I do know with other devs in other companies, these twinks and reworks tend to overshot the mark. Or what I’ve come to call Knee Jerk. So, now Class Y and Z are a little above, or maybe a little below Class X. A little more work is needed, they’re on a roll. Remember though, Class X is in a good spot, we’ll keep him there as the middle base. With heavier focus on Class Y and Z, their buffs, twinks and reworks have, even though Class X is the middle base, actually nerfed them by not touching them, because now Y and Z have moved up in the favored status and become ‘better’ at the tasks at hand. Before it was, in order from top to bottom, X, Y, Z, now has become Y,Z,X.

What this has created, is the famous Flavor of the Month. Leap frogging through alts while you swing with the meta.

So why can’t you have you have X, Y and Z all on a middle line? Well, as that might be the dream of every Dev, its not possible. If you do, then every class is just the same class with maybe different appearance models. Yay boring. Even then though, you can’t balance players.

One of the biggest things that drew me to this game was they’ve concept of “Bring the player, not the Profession.” I still think GW2 is among the closets MMO to actually reach that goal. The upcoming Raid concept is going to bring in a new chapter though, and there is a lot riding on it and how well that concept is going to hold up. Even today, its still “Bring the player, not the Profession… Except these two Professions.” Yes I’ve heard of certain that even among those exiled professions from whatever game mode they bottom out on, there exist a few that are able to do ‘well’ in it. But, this is more for the community at large. My buddy plays a Necro and has been rejected on several accounts in dungeons because it would make their run 5-10 minutes longer. So sad.

Still won’t make it that great, but at least better than not being used at all.

none of those tweaks changes the fact that the longbow feels like combat in slow motion or the dichotomy of cast time virtues when for 3 years the Guardian’s entire core mechanic traits was mostly designed with instant activation virtues.

that and the long as kitten self rooting bow attacks on a class that has the least mobility in the game. (a 600 range 40 sec cooldown leaping virtue that can get interrupted and doesn’t bypass immob ain’kitten

I’d say necromancer has overall worse mobility, and revenant has about equal mobility.

In general yeah, I didn’t really like what I saw of dragonhunter. It sounds like it should be able to give a long range option to the medi guard playstyle, but its just not really implemented well.

I’d rank it along with tempest as the worst elite spec, but tempest is only really bad because its traits offer almost nothing of value. Berserker is somewhere in between good and bad, whereas the rest of the elite specs are really good.

He thinks Revenant has the same mobility as a Necro, FAIL. This is why games should never be balanced around casuals like you.

Would go great with the necromancer war horn ability Locust Swarm, The whole shiny white anime vibe needs to be balanced out with a lot more deathly creepy vibes.

The changes are okay so far, but tbh there is a change which everyone wants. Make F3 again an instacast, cause we need it to finish peolple.

Also the LB is not the only thing that should get love. Many people say give them traits more love, but everyone ignores this. As many people say, they are boring and weak.

Some Examples for Traits:

1st When health is below 50% your Vortues get recharged. This would make people actually use the new elites.

2nd (and my favorite one) what about a trait which knocks down people on smite condition? This would benefit the control character of the dragonhunter and could be combined with other traits such as “smite on heal” a cool name would be “Dragons Stomp”

3rd What about giving the Dragonhunter an F4 virtue with a weak passive effect (10% movement speed increase or every third/fifth hit blinds the foe) and making the active an ground target port. Or what about making deflecting shot an ground target port just like the thiefs one with an high cooldown.

These are a few ideas i would love to see as Dragonhunter traits, since till now they seem really boring and makes the guard community think Arenanet doesnt care about Guards

I read this People saying you know nothing about Guardian, talking about PvE and WvW and I just can’t stop laughing. I play Guardian since Beta in a competive way, was line Top20 Team Queue and have to say you are right my friend.

Tempest has only if you watch the PvP aspect the advantage over Bunker Guardian. You can transfer all your Boons to your Allies, get high ammount of Protection, have a staff and auras to heal and support allies and you have a ton of stundbreakers, mobility and traits like stone heart which saves you from crits and Obsidian flesh.

And now let me ask this Genius Players who say this is a Joke why would someone take EVER a bunker guardian over an bunker ele in PvP?

It’s sad to say but Medi-Guard just sucks at the moment in High-Class-Matches. HIGH CLASS! I’m not saying in general, skilled Medi-Guards can kill normal Players easy, but in High-Class-Matches they have no Chance. And seeing Bunker getting replaced with Ele makes me think, that there will be no place for Guards in the coming Metas, even with Dragonhunter.

The Longbow feels good in concept but the auto-attack projectiles are far too slow and have similar tracking issues in moving combat that the Scepter does.

The auto-attack projectile velocity needs to be increased to counter this and improve it’s ranged accuracy.

Symbol of Energy should fire behind also, like Warrior Longbow and Thief Shortbow.

Dragonhunter Virtues are clunky and awkward and lose all synergy with Virtue traits because of their cast times. The F1 blind, F2 condi clear, F3 stun break and stability (especially when stomping). F2 leap is also clunky and delayed because of the cast time.
And of course activating Virtues while channeling Renewed Focus is impossible with these.

The Dragonhunter Virtues need to be changed to instant cast.

Also, Puncture Shot and Deflecting Shot should auto-face when standing still

1st how about a DH grandmaster trait which males smite conditions knock people down for 2 senconds?

2nd what about an f4 whichs passive is something weak (maybe 10% increased movement speed?) and its active is a ground targeted port!

3rd id love to see radiance shine a little bit, so what do you think about an radiance/dh grandmaster trait which stuns people on blind?

4th making it able to move while casting true shot on LB

5th i would love to see a minor/adept virtues trait like the mesmers shatter trait which refreshes the virtues when the guard is below 50% health

They sound pretty strong and i would love anet considering some of these for the future of guardian since guard is becoming a more selfish class with the dragonhunter

Thb these changed are okay, but still not good. One big problem is for example that F3 isnt a instacast anymore, so we cant savestomp anyone. For me reason enough to not play dragonhunter in pvp. Also symbol of energy is very good, the skill which needs a change is deflecting shot, its nearly to useless. Make it something like a ground-target port with high cooldown and everything is allright.

New player vs new player: pew pew ranger = OP.
Veteran player vs veteran player: pew pew ranger = Free kills.

Who do we balance for?
Do we balance around the idea that people should be able to learn to play?
Or do we balance around the idea that people cannot learn, and are forever casual?

We simply don’t.

Other successful games, such as Dota 2, balance around the veteran, top tier, players. Should the same not be done here?

Swapping to dead pet on occasion [Bug]

Hey guys and gals,

Several times today while playing spvp, I swapped to my second pet only to have it be already dead. I didn’t see it mentioned in the compiled list over in the bugs forum, so I’m bringing it up here. Not sure what causes it, but in one case I distinctly remember coming off of respawn and my wolf was already dead when I swapped to it about 30 seconds later.

During the course of another fight, I swapped from my raven —> wolf --> raven —> wolf, and my wolf was already dead both times. Needless to say, twice swapping to an already dead pet was EXTREMELY debilitating, and this bug is game-breaking in some sense.

Has anyone else noticed this happening? I’m going to mention it to the bug thread as well.

This is a faulty comparison.

Sword is Revenant’s only pure dps weapon. Conversely, Sword is a utility weapon for Ranger (two dodges, two cripples, and a gap close). Comparing the dps from the two just doesn’t make sense. If you wanted a more fair comparison, go for Ranger Longbow vs Revenant Sword and adjust for range.

Do I think that Ranger Sword needs some work? Yeah, it’s wonky as all hell. That doesn’t mean that this comparison makes any sense or that you can compare two classes on one weapon alone.

25% of games have a DC or a rage quit, please do something to punish these people so I don’t sit in queue for 5-10 minutes to just have a steamroll match.

The worst part about this is there was dishonor and then it was removed to be “revamped” and just never came back. Where is the dev work on this? I would prefer a fixed queue system to “new game modes” because any mode you add will have this same problem.
