So they are going to balance for WvW…
\o/ YAY!
Confusion was increased for PvE because mobs that attack less frequently than another player. WvW uses PvE rules atm… thus it’s above what they might want for a PvP environment. It will probably be nerfed… but not too hard as there are PvE mobs in WvW… and there is more cleansing in WvW as well.
Thus… I would expect other things such as guardian’s dodge heal to be nerfed harder than confusion, but I do expect it to take a hit.
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
I started running this a while ago because I normally run a 20/20/0/0/30 shatter build and saw I could flip traits around to become glam.
I use a staff/scepter + focus
It’s not as good as a pure glam for large zerg vs zerg fights since the clones just insta die. It’s better than trying to be a shatter for ZvZ though… and better than full on glam in skirmish fights as you can use your shatters more often.
Get some clones up, start a shatter, then use the focus to pull people into a field/knock them down, scepter #3. Time it right and it’s a good burst of 13-14 stacks of confusion while they are down.
iWarden in a ethereal field = confusing bolts pew pew out in random directions (it’s a whirl finisher).
Use the fields to give yourself chaos armor as much as you can in smaller fights and try to get a few to attack you. The confusion on blind causes the chaos armor to give confusion 66% of the time you are hit.
Scepter #2’s blind also will cause a stack of confusion.
About glam in general… in TC we some times fight a guild that has a lot of glam mesmers… it doesn’t work that well to have a lot on one side. Unless you auto attack yourselves to death the damage is really low… plus the confusion is easily removed (as there aren’t many other conditions flying around). Glam seems to work better if it’s done by only a few so that there are other conditions on them and more are forced to attack/defend against the tanky/high dps types who are pressuring them while having confusion on them.

I dont know of any deal to save KN (but i wouldnt know if there was one). I do know that when i hit the WvW tab I look to see who is in second and then i go and fight them.
I think that is the natural choice for most people.
We’re not just hitting FA… before the servers shut down we took over quite a bit of Kain… after the servers were back up and our siege was gone we were busy defending vs. both servers. 2am isn’t a strong time for TC and Kain was left alone by FA and recapped what we had taken. Now FA is turning around and saying TC is helping Kain? Wat?
well.. looks like we are heading for T3 next week.. at least, a tier where it would be fair to our NA crew, and the Oceanics would not have to worry about PPT game…..
Not sure about next week, but i’m pretty sure you won’t be in tier 3 long if you go there. Also TC is doing their utmost best to keep you here. Which is kind of hilarious.
O.o How is TC doing that? o.O

^If I’m using this I know I’ll be built for dealing condition damage. Cond builds naturally get higher defensive stats through gear as well so no need for defensive food buffs.
If I run soup I don’t have control over if my opponent is using direct or condition damage so it may do little to nothing to help me outside of the vit.
Just sayin’…
Didn’t think it through before posting, did ya?
The “defensive stat” (toughness and armor) you’re talking about has nothing to do with “defensive food buffs” (-% condition duration). Unless you think armor reduces condition damage in which case you should play the game a little more before posting. Since we’re also limited to the Mesmers it’s a well known fact that a high toughness condition Mesmer’s greatest weakness is conditions. Rare Veggie Pizza might be better in 1v1 or against power builds but in 1vX or against other condition builds Lemongrass wins hands down.
You missed the point of my post. It was to illustrate that the food isn’t OP at all. There is even a 100% counter to it.
Tough =/= anti cond dmg, vit does. At the least there are no exotic rabid jewels so carrion jewels should go into your jewelry giving you 17k hp in WvW. I don’t gear my mes in ascended as they bug out/break/nerf things on mes too often… my guard on the other hand is very stable, so I put ascended on him.
I’m used to having a lower hp pool on my other characters so fighting condition builds with 17k+ hp & null feild is np for me, so when cond built I do run pizzas. Again… because I KNOW it’ll fully benefit me vs the soup which I don’t know if it’ll help outside of the vit gain.
Even if I’m dong a shatter build I’ll run pre/crit dmg food for the same reason and just leave cond dmg as a weakness vs risk having the food I’m using being near worthless outside of the vit (which doesn’t help much when you’re in a squishy shatter build).
Learning to dodge well is also key to avoiding damage of any sort… which I see many players just spam randomly without any real reason. If you take the time and learn the animations to the specific skills it’ll help a TON as far as avoiding damage entirely vs trying to mitigate it after.
Tough = anti non-cond damage
Vit = anti cond
Vigor (as well as mes’s other actives) = best defenses

Honestly, though I play a mesmer and it’s my main, I must admit that shatter spec must be nerfed, at least for sPvP, and other specs must be viable. I might have tried as much as possible, I coulnd’t find a build by myself without being crushed by any opponent with half a brain. Since then, I respecced shatter. Now I faceroll, now I win.
Ok, not literally, but seriously, we must have different options, different viable specs, and this must come from a little shatter nerf (not huge nerf, don’t nerf it to the ground, but bring in par with others).Or a buff? To things that make other options viable? Like sayyy mantras? Bringing them down one tree would prolly do wonders for that…
I don’t find shatter mesmers to be stronger than builds on other classes in their own way. Ex… my eng loves to tear apart classes with low def against conditions (like mesmer) while still having high control over capture points. If you’re doing well with a shatter mes, then great, keep going with it while you practice other classes as well.
Other classes can burst just as hard if not harder than a mesmer.
I see no reason to nerf shatter.
Mantras have other mechanical issues which would need to be dealt with as well… but that would at least be a step in the right direction.

1. no
2. no
3. former
4. no
5. noThere’s only one thing you really need to defend against condition damage and it’s so OP it’s not even funny.
Take no burning damage from any Winds of Chaos ever, for example. Makes a condition Mesmer fly like a butterfly and sting like one too.

My mes is named Shahrazad (story teller from Arabian nights)
Iirc the max range was increased so that players could hit objects at longer range.
That’s not to say that it still doesn’t need a projectile speed increase and be far more reliable than its current form… but I wouldn’t expect it to be so for the max range.
You can also change the stats on it while keeping the skin with a transmute stone.
The top box out of the 3 is the skin, middle are the stats, bottom is for the sigil. Just pick and choose which ones you want.
Shinjusuke you came into a player tip thread… say this…
1) Go into PvP
2) Hardly Try (spam clones, stealth EVERY time they lock you)
3) Wait for clones/allies/you if you get bored to wreck face.
call mesmer easymode… call for nerfs… first post of yours in the mesmer forums… and clam to not be a troll. Seems legit. Good day sir
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
This is an old build that I used when I first started with mesmer… same gear as well other than used divinity runes and no ascended was around yet (I still use the knight/ruby combo on my guard even today). I had LOTS of fun just doin /dance in front of some one while my phants killed them after they were downed lol
It’s pretty bad for group situations though… that’s why I run 20/20/0/0/30 now and can flip between shatter and glam/condition on the fly. It’ll be stronger after they fix Izerker as well ^^
I actually find the shatter spec inferior to phantasm in group scenarios.
Neither shatter nor phant are good at those roles, but with the same trait lines you can change the individual traits around into glam… which is far better for groups.
When doing shatter it has everything I want in it. Shorter cd’s, boon ripping etc.
When doing glam/cond the only things it gives up vs a full on glam is longer lasting glam’s and shorter glam cd’s. You still get the confusion on enter/exit, and blind/confusion when you place the fields. Having desperate decoy and clone on dodge isn’t a bad tradeoff. Being able to shatter more helps with the times when some one calls for a smaller group to go off from the main objective (although I agree it’s not totally optimal for ZvZ).
I just find myself switching roles a LOT in WvW from solo to small group to zerg and I’m able to with just swapping gear and changing trait choices without having to visit a npc to totally retrait.
Not knocking your choice at all, phant is solid for smaller fights.
Back in the day I also tried it with phants regen and then protection when you regen. Made my mes REALLY tanky (but the protection side of that has been nerfed hard and isn’t worth it anymore).
Btw the zerker comment was about phant builds… reads kinda funny with how I wrote it before lol

1) Go into PvP
2) Hardly Try (spam clones, stealth EVERY time they lock you)
3) Wait for clones/allies/you if you get bored to wreck face.Seriously, if you haven’t tried PvP yet, this is the class you wanna start with (provided you don’t mind hating other classes for not being as good in PvP, except maybe the unkillable ranger builds).
Spawn clones with weapon skills/one of your utilities, instantly ruin a player with our Moa Bird skill (which we, I don’t even have the first clue how, STILL have as essentially a free 10 seconds to set up/crap on someone in PvP), and have the rest of your skills as stealth skills (so you can make a clone and then forcibly un-lock your opponent).
I’m worried for the Mesmer, eventually ANet will realize there’s a REASON you wont go into a tourny match without seeing one/see high level dungeon partys ALWAYS wanting mesmers, and then we’ll get overnerfed.
Till then, you can enjoy some easymode
^Necro
Sounds like he/she is still having problems telling the real mesmer apart from clones… and suggests using moa… Don’t listen to this very obvious troll.
Beam type attacks also aren’t reflected. I once had my hp go POOF! Vs. a zerg on my mesmer due to feedback→etaliation… and guards have a far lower hp pool. WoR is fine as is and I don’t expect any nerfs.
I’m pretty sure it’s less than summoning range. Around 900 range sounds closer to the correct value.
After playing around with it tonight, yea it is a bit less then summoning range.
3. Mesmers tank quite well. However, I would never run my tank build in pve.
Do you find it expensive switching between a PVE and WvW spec, or do you tend to do more WvW? I’d like to run Phantasm for PVE and your Immortal Build for WvW (as we discussed in your thread)
To the original poster- I found greatsword or staff with sword/focus a great way to level, focusing on phantasms to do good damage, but also provide great damage myself.
I find that 20/20/0/0/30 flips very well between shatter and glam (although not optimal glam it still works). I can do PvE/small group skirmish WvW/ Zerg WvW just by changing gear and flipping traits around.
Although it’s not expensive for the occasional trait change… if you’re doing it frequently it’ll add up from the 3s50c/change cost. Personally I find myself needing changing my role in a party/group multiple times a day… just in WvW alone.
Both are very good and very well balanced. I have both and love them both. I chose to gear up my guardian more/first for 1 reason… it’s a VERY stable class. Nerfs/buffs/bugs are pretty rare on a guard. Mesmer is nerfed/buffed/bugged far more often.
Guard is more mele… mesmer is more in and out (or ranged)
Both make great support classes as well.
Mesmer > Guardian in many cases, called Feedback.
You do know guards get wall of reflection, right?
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
You don’t have to move. He will only move if he loses LoS.
^this is correct… or if they move out of summoning range
Mainly Guardians, especially high condition damage ones who have stability up alot, along with when they use retaliation on my shatters too. Some skilled necros give me trouble, but noob ones are easy. Eles are the most hated though as they just refuse to take damage while hurling things at me. Theives are hit and miss, though when they hit it hurts.
Condition guardian = wat o.O?
Eles need a mobility nerf (they really shouldn’t be able to even outrun my thief -.-), otherwise they aren’t a problem imo.
Pretty much every non-stealth build on thieves is varying degrees of crap. The lifesteal build is no longer viable since the nerf to the foods. LDB is happily countered by simply walking away from the thief until all his initiative is gone. P/P builds are horrific, and you barely even have to try to counter them as a mesmer. Any non-stealth attack is easily countered by dodging, using LoS with clones, or abusing the massive amounts of active defense a mesmer has. Additionally, a visible thief is a vulnerable thief. Mesmers have lots of hard cc and disables like immobilize on very short cooldowns, and a thief that tries to duke it out with a mesmer without using stealth as an escape is going to die very VERY fast.
Indeed… thief is very much a foos class. I really wish they would make thief more flexible. Regardless of how you build it you’ll only be built for doing 1 thing well… or 2 things pretty kitten poorly. You’ll either be very predictable or rubbish. How predictable thief is is one of the reasons why you don’t see them at higher end tPvP.
On mesmer you can easily test to see if they are experienced at picking out the player and not have it mess you over if they don’t fall for it. No real harm in trying but don’t rely on it to work… and be ready for it when it doesn’t. On the other hand… if they would fall for it… by no means would you need to use it to win.
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
I just checked vs a guard using their block/heal and nothing appeared. It’s because the summons are considered attacks…. and so multi hitting/aoe attacks don’t even occur due to a single dodge/block/blind/invuln… because frick logic : /
I quit DN before the EX stuff was in the game… got sick of the same few PvP maps/nests… some classes did get power dodges though which helped. We still get a lot more escapes in Gw2 and fewer instances where if you don’t you’re just dead.
<- Desdemon (can’t gif spam in these forums xD)
@Pyro
The timing of the dodge/block/blind/invuln is right when the animation ends… you’ll notice a SMALL pause before the phant appears… that’s when it’s sort of checking to see if it “hit”
I’m about 50/50 on doing this but I don’t have much need to do it as very few run phant builds anymore. With more pratice I’m sure I could do it all the time without any problems.
I got very good at dodges from the last game I plaid before Gw2 (Dragon nest) where if you missed a dodge on a particular skill your opponent would juggle/wall bounce you from 100-0. Gw2 is far more forgiving in general xD
Protip… craft your mesmer up to 40… then play normally from there. It’s worth it. Seriously.
Vs. a good player it’s night and day to which is the real mesmer. There are constant tells… movement (either clone or player)/black swirl @ the feet when coming out of stealth/attack frequency.
WvW has a lot of baddies though. I’ll sort of test to see if it seems like they can follow me through some basics misdirects and if they can I just toss that idea. Just be ready to evade in the case that they can tell which is which.
It’s similar to how in fighting games spamming some basic attacks will kill noobs… and you should try them on a player you’re not familiar playing against (RAWR Hadoken spam!) but at the same time don’t expect to rely on these sorts of things.
Dueling 20 shouldn’t affect your ability to do this though. It’s amazing fuel for your shatter skills… which are an amazing offense/defense you’ll want to be able to use at any second with any build. Dueling 20 lets you do this with a very low cost.
Blinking will make you stand out… not blend in. Save this for defensive use when they are hitting you or you’re trying to get away.
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
Blind/Block/Dodge/Invuln timing = no phantasm even appears… this means EVERY class can actually counter this build xD
This isn’t really that known though… and most people don’t know the proper timing.
Being Asura would help limit the visibility of the animations for those who do know.
This build was even stronger before the prot/regen/phant “attack” rules were changed… ahhh the good old days of rotfl I don’t even care if you hit me phant mesmer builds.
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
OP plays a warrior… every other class is too OP for him in PvP…
Condition based builds for sure
The reason thieves (and mesmers) are complained about so much is that they don’t understand what’s going on. These two classes in particular punish the other players the most for not understanding their opponent. To a new player stealth seems like total information denial/invulnerability… and it seems impossible to tell the real mesmer from the clones… and massive complaints from ignorant players ensue.
More experienced players will be able to easily predict the one trick pony thief and tell which one is the real mesmer instantly.
Thief is too FOOS… they can do their one trick based upon whatever weapon set they are using. This makes them extremely predictable. I constantly use c&d to stealth off of other already stealthed thieves because it’s that obvious where they’ll be and what they’ll be doing.
Mist is power based… it’s a shatter build with high mobility
Guards > Wars for support…
Wars > Guards for dps… agreed.
Also Guards > Wars for PvP
Wars are the worst PvP class
(good idea to take this into consideration even if you mainly PvE).
Guard is a solid choice all around.
The dev’s are also happy with where guards are atm… which means fewer fears of a nerf inc. and messing up your gear/build.
Guards level very fast when using a greatsword+staff combo… buff up with 12 stacks of might on the staff, then 5,5,4,3,2,1 Does an aoe grab, pulls them in, puts down a symbol, blinds them, spins, then you just finish them off and you have many dead mobs. Spit out a swiftness symbol from your staff and get to the next group.
Quit your war and start a guard. You won’t regret it.
It’ll play similar to warrior until you get to higher levels though. You’ll be tanky and deal a lot of damage. The higher level traits are when you start to see the potential of guard. Altruistic healing/monks focus builds are both great (I wouldn’t recommend the healway guard unless you only do PvP and don’t mind not doing much damage). AH is better for closer group situations, monks focus works better if you solo or are away from the group.
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
They just need to reword the tooltip for the trait to “gain revealed buff at 25%”
working as intended + fixed
(..)
Guard does have solid escape options, but guard does not excel in escape (nor should it imo). If you SHOULD try to escape or cause them to back off is very dependant on the situation.
Funny how other classes excell at “hit n run” or able to restart combat, guardian is just to slow for the small health pool and same armor as warrior.
Well boons are just meh, they help when in a stack now with 1vs1 i cant seem to notice i got boons.
War and Guard are different classes. War generally just sucks everything up with higher hp Vs. Guard is given other ways to deal with the pressure (boons among other things).
Despite having a lower health pool, guardian has a high effective health pool due to all of the ways they can regain health.
Boons are amazing imo… it just requires the proper timing of when to use these boons.
Boons (when used properly) are strong enough to where the dev’s are now looking into finding a way to have a more solid counter to them for other specific classes.
With skills like “Save Yourselves”, “Hold the Line”, Stand Your Ground" and “Retreat” I’d venture to believe that Guardians were designed to be first in, last out. If you’ve distracted the enemy long enough for 1 or 2 of your allies to get away then you have done your job right.
I’ve come across several people that have thought this way… but I totally disagree…all of the roots/knockbacks/warding/teleports plus the many damage mitigation skills makes it hard to down before the guard is able to get to somewhere safer… it just depends on what you want your guard to be able to do and what role you want it to play.
Most of their teleports are “to nearest enemy”. The two exceptions that come to mind are Hammer 2 and GS 3 and the range on Hammer 2 is very laughable. Shield 5, Staff 5 and Hammer 5 all are good if you place them properly, but anything running stability and you are pretty much out of luck.
I’m just saying that you are more likely going to cause your enemy to back off than you are to actually run away from them. Unless I’m running staff at the time in WvW, I usually just try to last as long as possible if I’m caught out and hope some reinforcements arrive to clean up.
In tPvP you don’t need to run as far… in WvW there are plenty of random mobs to teleport to. I have often able to run up to a group, kill some one, then use teleports to get away in WvW… it does suck if you can’t seem find any random bunnies to save your life though (litterally) xD
I do find that rune of the pack can help with escaping as well… it’ll almost certainly proc when you’re getting attacked while running, thus granting you swiftness. I understand it’s not great with some builds though.
Guard does have solid escape options, but guard does not excel in escape (nor should it imo). If you SHOULD try to escape or cause them to back off is very dependant on the situation.
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
I would go with asura over charr… harder to see their animations in PvP which can make them harder to predict when summoning phantasms. You also get targeted less as an asura since you are naturally a bit less visible.
Asura animations when outside of PvP are superior (other than with the GS beam) and JP’s are easier since you can see around yourself… and the camera doesn’t start spazzing out as if your character is having a seizure.
Being small has some good advantages.
Clothes don’t look as good on an asura imo… I haven’t plaid a light armored asura but at least the heavy armors give you fewer color boxes and thus less options as to how you can appear.
Charr have some interesting lore and are furry… which is a plus to some… you know who your are…
Racial skills don’t matter much as you’ll probably be using class ones over those anyways.
Personally I went human just for the awesome t3 dress and the hot pixel action on my screen though… :P
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
Rabid > carrion if for no other reason than the crystals will increase your condition damage more (same with rune of undead if you use those).
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
I agree confusion needs to be changed in WvW. Atm it’s doing the PvE damage which was buffed in the past to compensate for how infrequently that mobs attack. WvW uses these PvE rules despite how much stronger confusion is Vs. players. It’s just not at all logical for it to be like this. It might well be a challenge for them to balance the damage vs mobs and damage vs players at the same time though.
Eventually they might start balancing for WvW… but I haven’t seen anything posted stating that they would… so it probably won’t be in the near future.
It’s not intentional… they’re working on it… they just won’t know how to fix it until they figure out what went wrong with zerker. I do miss my mes’s izerker as well, but staff isn’t bad alternative until they do. It does suck to be more limited with weapon choices for the time being… and there are things on all classes that need to be fixed… and have needed to be fix since launch. These fixes should be top priority… I agree.

What I see here is more nerf to PvE Burst and damage, then compensating this damage loss in PvP with boon hate, which means nothing in PvE.
I think it’s common knowledge by now that they don’t give a rat’s tail about Thief PvE.
They just need to separate PvE and PvP rules more imo…
The dev’s haven’t come up with what boon hate even does or how strong it’ll be yet. Personally I would prefer to see more str8 boon ripping/destruction/corruption vs. something like extra damage… which would then be mitigated by protection/regen…
Unfortunately their adamant that they won’t do that so that new players are more prepared for the jump to WvW and PvP (because its working so far and all the mechanics you need to know in pvp are present in pve!)
I really don’t understand why new players are this much of a concern to where it is now causing changes higher skill level gameplay (for the worse). Is it really a bad thing for a game to have some initial learning curves and imbalances when certain classes fight for the first time? Sure take it into consideration, but don’t kitten over the non-new players for it.

You have the worst reading comprehension of anyone I have ever had the pleasure of talking to, on the internet since 1995.
I don’t have an issue playing a Guardian, I just find it weaker than my other classes, all except the Warrior, who feels even weaker. I still beat scrubs like you on a regular basis. There is no way I could lose to a Guardian on my Thief, ever. You must play in the nerfed down state of sPvP because leveling to 80 is hard, and the higher damage in WvW is even harder for you.
I love people like you. You always fight the best players in the game, and those you don’t agree with always fight the worst players in the game.
You so funny. Continue complaining about classes you “think” are overpowered.
Thinking a class needs tweaks =/= it’s UP nor OP.
The dev’s agreed about Ele. They find Guardian one of the most balanced classes. They have SO many damage mitigation abilities and good ways of dealing with a thief. It just comes down to you playing against baddies who are tied to thier GS and only swap to the staff to get might (etc.).
You’re so cute… but you still missed my point. You’re not really much of a thief. You say the good ones didn’t get changed and your mighty s/p build doesn’t even use stealth. So apparently a 12% dps nerf and reduced healing/invis/condition removal/etc + haste nerf shouldn’t matter? Yea sure ok. Please go tell this to top tier thieves and warriors… oh wait they have all vanished from higher tPvP. Sure you can find them in hotjoin but that says little about skilled gameplay… same with you being able to kill random baddies in WvW with S/P.
Or as the dev put it…
“Allie Murdock:
“Hey all, thanks for the feedback! I just wanted to pop in here real quick to let you know that we’re looking at ways to balance out skills and traits that were affected by the quickness change.
Right now, Thief is still very good in WvW, so we have to take that into consideration. Also, in lower rated games, it is still doing well with its burst. In higher rated games, we recognize that it could use some tweaks.
These are things that we need to consider when making changes to the Thief, so try to keep that in mind when giving us feedback."
We’re reviewing Warriors and Elementalists as well. Perhaps we can get into that another time and in a different thread, though. As this thread is about Thieves, let’s keep it on track."
You post up and down the ranger forum then come in here to troll… poorly. Good day sir :P
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
I find this thread humorous, since I find D/D Elementalist easy, even able to solo them on a RANGER for crying out loud.
The secret for a Elementalist, and I am not kidding one bit here, is to move in a circle around them. Some of their best damage requires movement, and because the game has such poor AI, they zip by you while you are moving in a circle around them, and you take zero damage.
Thieves are fine, quit crying over spilled milk. Us good Thieves have seen no change in our play.
@WhiteAndMilky & @Arganthium
Both of you are pretty spot on, and I think the differences we feel, or experience are probably playstyle, or the variables that exist in game.
While the Thief is powerful in good hands, it is no longer as powerful as many believe. In my opinion the Mesmer surpasses the Thief, though I’m a beast on my Mesmer because people obviously do not put up the big red “target” over a Mesmers head like they should.
When I’m playing my Ranger, and occasionaly get burst out by a one trick pony Thief, I shrug it off and smile, because later when I’m destroying a d/d Elementalist, knowing most classes can’t.
Right now my concern are my Warrior, and my Guardian. For some reason they’re feeling like my weakest classes, and I’m not sure why. Are you two experiencing the same thing?
^Tier 5 WvW S/P no stealth thief… mains a ranger… fights a lot of people that can’t tell the real mesmer from clones (shows skill level of opponents)… feels guardian is weak… ’nuff said.
Started Henge of Denravi in the Titan alliance, when no one could touch us. Transfered to a lower tier so I would never have to wait in a queue again. Your point about servers?
Let me guess, you transfered to a T1, because you thought it means something? <laughs>
I can beat a Guardian 1v1 on Thief, Ranger, Necromancer, and Mesmer, no contest. I can beat a Guardian 2v1 on a Necromancer, and Mesmer. Just becuase you have a hard time with them, does not make them as powerful as you think they are.
I’m sorry you have issues with this game, and fighting others. Truly I am.
The fact I can play a no-stealth Sword/Pistol Shadowstep Thief, and you have issues with a Thief using a lot of stealth speaks volumes about your lack of skill, versus my superior skill. Learn the game before you cry.
Nah been on TC for a long time man. It’s in my siggy just to help you out with the obvious. We fought against several of the T1 servers for weeks when things got jumbled up right before transfers changed to costing gems though. It’s fun and challenging to fight against other servers with several times your population without them having the lower skill of t5 etc. server ^^ They are pretty nice people as well.
I’m sorry that you have plaid against poor guardians and have issues playing your own. Truly I am. I can beat thieves, rangers, necro’s, and mesmers with my guardian. Thieves are one of the easiest classes to beat as a guardian. I’m glad that you can play a s/p thief vs lower tier players. It speaks volumes about your skill. I’m sure you would do great vs the type players shown in the vid and feel awesome about it.

Guardian focused on healing often results in over-healing and then not contributing to much else which is not so good. So sure, healing, but you want to raise your buff potential and/or DPS. I mostly run with mace/shield + GS and staff backup (for roaming), so favor more DPS, myself. My guard is mainly for dungeons, some metas.
In PvP the healway guards don’t really help much either imo… sure you won’t die… but you’re not going to kill much of anything with that set up either.
Should switch Scepter for Mace. Better healing and support with it (Block, extra heals on combo chain and on SoF, protection if the block doesn’t trigger)
Yeah, I go back and forth. Kinda settled on scepter for WvW because Smite is good against people on walls and siege engines and Chains is faintly useful for getting someone killed in the act of fleeing, plus in a hot situation it gives me something to fling at enemies from a safe distance.
Shame about the orbs being probably the worst #1 attack in the game though. :-p Terrible damage. Long travel time. No special effects. Other than that it’s great!
Orb dmg, if you gear for DPS is amazing. Don’t be fooled.
In PvE it’s good, PvP it moves too slow to hit anything that’s moving at any sort decent range That’s somewhat by design though… long ago the range was extended to help guards hit siege at longer ranges in WvW… and not other players.

@WhiteAndMilky & @Arganthium

Idk why people are even arguing… the dev’s already agreed that ele is too mobile/slippery (should be the thief’s as #1 in these categories) and that their heals are too fast.
There will be changes for them in the future… as well as a change for thieves allowing them to stay in the fight longer and be the most mobile/slippery class.
ATM I just feel that increasing the revealed debuff was just the wrong approach to the c&d spam problem… and just wound up nerfing all of the thieves that cycle revealed instead.
Keep in mind the game is still fairly new and will continue to go through many changes until things become a bit more settled (aka why I have 4 80’s).
That being said… those players they were fighting are pretty bad. Ele isn’t THAT op to where they can normally take on THAT many more people. Dear god some one use some half decent CC…

Which 2 sets?
At the moment I am considering Rabid and Carrion.
my dps is a mis of (mosly zerker) 2 knight’s, acc’s 2 knight’s with zerker jewelry, zerker rings/back, valk neck
For my condition I have all rabid armor/acc’s (ty wvw badges/karma) carrion jewels in the rabid jewelry (no exotic rabid jewels exist), carrion weapons… but if I was to do it again I would get rabid for weapons as well. Not a big enough deal to replace them though.
2… one for shatter (dps) one for glam (cond)
I don’t PvE much though :P
Not this thread again >.<
Asura get the best animations everywhere other than this. Please stop being so greedy :P
