For all we know, it could be just someone pushing over a statue of Abbadon and that’s it. The discount we’ll see from Evon already occurs, and he’s still lining his pockets and not yours. Evon is a crude, uncaring businessman who caters to the 1% of Tyria, he couldn’t care less about everyone else. Since everyone else is mudslinging without any proof against Kiel, it only seems fair to paint Evon in a bad light.

Evon supports the slavery of children to be sold as devious delights, of which he takes a sizable cut and has been known to murder aspiring heroes so he can take the copper from their graves. Evon sold his own family for a single porous bone and even stated that “was more than their worth anyways”. Evon has been seen gallivanting with centaurs, the inquest, nightmare court, sons of svanir and the flame legion and even threw a party in honor of Zhaitan for taking over Claw Island.

Is this the type of individual we want for the Captain’s Council, a bookah who’s willing to go to any means, to turn even the smallest profit? I think not! Vote for Captain Kiel! Let’s rewrite the past and fix the mistakes of the inquest! The fall of abbadon is a fixed point in our history, don’t let Evon tempt you with promises of coin and glory, he’s the only one who’ll make any money from our efforts!

Vote for Evon!

While I won’t deny that Evon is a fine candidate for the political scene, a renowned business charr to boot, he hasn’t proven himself as Captain’s Council material we need. Looking back over the last few months, what exactly did he do for Tyrians? He took the devastation and tragedies as a means to turn a profit. He didn’t aid us when he had the chance during the uprising of the Molten Alliance nor when the citizens of said previous hardships were indentured on Southsun Cove. In fact, he has been selling Consortium wares on his trading post! Where was he when the Ashford’s lost another one of their kin, selling armor he pilfered off the dead corpses of the Aetherblades!

Captain Kiel has freed those who were wrongfully forced to work after their debts had been paid, in an extremely hostile environment no less. She captured the crazed Canach and quelled the wildlife of Southsun Cove. When the Aetherblades traumatized the citizens of Lion’s Arch during the bonfires and even threatened them again, Captain Kiel stood against the tide and beat them back, even capturing their captain with no intent of becoming one herself.

However, when Magnus offered her a position on the Captain’s Council because of her deeds and newly acquired and well earned airship, she accepted it with the same responsibility as protecting her fellow citizens and with the same set of morals that we’ve come to respect her by. Evon is taking, once again, the chance to turn a profit in the light of more tragedy.

Evon is a great businessmen, but his ethics and morals leave little to be desired. If he were to discount anything on the trading post during the political debates, it would only be temporary to further his goals, and afterwards he’d revert to the same shrewd and uncaring individual he is.

Vote for Captain Kiel for Captain’s Council, she’s the member that Lion’s Arch needs!

1.It’s been almost 1 year (10 months-sih) since GW2 came out, not only do we not have any sort of fun or engaging PvE endgame, the games METAgame is in disarray, and they haven’t moved the main story any further since we Killed (but not really we shot sparkle guns while he King Konged.) Zhaitan.

2.So instead of going further along with the Elder Dragon story (we still have what 4 of them?)3. You guys decide with every Living story and event to side step the main game story and open up other story lines Some were terrific (Molten Alliance.) Some were boring and didn’t even make me bat an eye at it. (South Sun stuff.) and the next event you give us is another happy cheering pointless party event…. I’m sure it may be fun ..but kitten can we please move on with the story?

4.At this point any hope I have of this game adding any sort of significant Endgame that doesn’t involve PvP of some magnitude (I still hate WvW still just Zerg vs Zerg… which is mainly because Towers, and Camps etc are to close together, and there’s no threat of a real counter with AoE being capped at 5, and more than useless Guards/Captains… but that’s another post.) is for Anet to continue the story and hope they learned from their mistake with Zhaitan and actually let us fight the darn dragon.

5.Seriously Anet.. stop side stepping your main story get back to it!!!

Entire game is endgame, what you start with is what exists at the end, well sorta. Zones and dungeons are going to be tough/impossible until you meet the level requirements, but those are more rewards then goals. I killed him way back during the first couple months, so if they’ve updated the fight aside the friendship cannon, I have no idea. Of course given his size, going “toe to toe” would be laughable, though flying the blimp closer so I could hit him with my sword would of been neat.

2. 5 left, there’s Primordius, Jormag, Kralkatorrik, Mordremoth and Bubbles.

3. Just partially a paragraph you said there wasn’t engaging pve…well endgame, but this sorta counts I suppose. Could of smooshed it from five to three and it would of been solid, but it was experimental content. Southsun gave me an excuse to do something in southsun other than dork around.

4. What is endgame to you exactly. You keep using that word, I don’t think it means what you think it means. If you mean raids, there’s Wv3, but you don’t like it, though the preview of changes make it sound like they’re going to reward strategic play more so then zerg rushing, hopefully something along the lines of punishment for capping and then abandoning everything for quick points.

5. I’m to guess they’re saving the other dragon’s for expansions, though it worries me they’ll pull a similar storyline together, and many movies do it and suck because of it…rehashing. Technically they are continuing the story, but it’s more local problems then dragons, if you ignore the problems at home, soldiers will suffer on the battlefield.

Crabtacular Achievement

in Last Stand at Southsun

Posted by: Acidicore.3264

Acidicore.3264

This thing, is a bit of a pain. You can try and lure players into the karka and hope they don’t dodge at the right time, but it’s fully luck based. Met a couple of other players who needed it, and we all came to the agreement with everyone else to try and get it. After that, we helped everyone get the winner (for daily) and then stood in a cluster smacking one another to get it, while the others would sit off to the side who have done everything to keep new people from coming in (most due to the fact that those who did were unnecessarily rude, spewing racial and homophobic epithets). After it winded down, we went back to playing. We said our good byes after finishing every single crab toss achievement, after several fun rounds of playing the game both restrictively and finally many more normally. The camaraderie that pops up in the community is just outstanding, and rarely seen it in other games outside the GW franchise, and by that I mean strangers and not those who could become or are the best of friends. Curiously wonder if perhaps there was a bit of intent to see if players would try and work together in spite of a competitive environment towards a rather difficult, luck based achievement, even with the standard intent being try your luck.

Unlike the toypocalypse which was luck based on when you got in, team structure and that you couldn’t form a team of your friends made that achievement a total pain in the butt. While you could convince and cheer one another one to try and complete with a group of friends, it’s much more difficult with strangers, as they have a less than tolerable stance with failure. Comparing the two isn’t a great argument, the biggest difference, besides the team, is the time required to get the two. You can get Crabtacular if everyone agrees in a game for everyone, while the other required…a ton of time. Also, if you screwed up with Crabtacular, the punishment wasn’t as severe, as opposed to how much time you put into Toypocalypse, get a good ways in, like 20-30 minutes, and then have one of them die due to lone wolf syndrome or tunnel vision or plain incompetence. Although they should of made it three out of five, one was way to easy, like “baby’s first tower guard defense” easy.

In my opinion, GW2 is dying

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Acidicore.3264

Acidicore.3264

Every MMO is declared dead by someone before, after and during it’s life cycle. GW1 has been an every developing game since launch, I remember coming back to play after a two year hiatus and the game looked and felt very different when it first launched. Stating the game as is, which is an easier and more approachable (devouring all the concepts and content at a logical pace) then it was when it first launched. Not a single solitary thing you have stated, nor do I have any right to call mine in any regard as well, as facts. It’s called fluctuation, there is never going to be a point where any game has a continuous growth of players or maintains a steadfast amount, ever. It’s one of the more entertaining things to read when people say WoW is dying when they lose a million subscribers, only to jump right back up when new content or expansions release. When content gets better, the numbers increase and going around saying it all sucks doesn’t help your dead guild one bit.

Your points are almost all subjectively opinionated, which doesn’t help your claim at all.

1- Given that you can join any number of guilds without recourse, and since there’s not true (besides leaderboards, but they can be deceiving) way to track membership logins. The game was structured to be a pick up, play and put away for another day structure.Time sinks are only time sinks if you force them upon yourself, so someone who’s actively playing to get that elusive legendary and armor set won’t effect the player who doesn’t feel they need to have that gear and can play at their leisure, be it once a day or once a week. No power curve, no force to push you to keep playing to be on an even playing field with the current raid tier, no reason to stress. Play when you want.

2- AC isn’t dead, just look at the gw2lfg website/smartphone app. CoF has been, for the longest time, the best reward for time ratio and that’s why you’ll find more players wanting to farm it over other dungeons. Doesn’t mean they’re dead. The changes AC didn’t extend the length of the dungeon, but it didn’t increase the cooperative nature necessary to fight and bring down bosses, which is why the trash mobs also die faster. They realize dungeons aren’t as exciting and are working on them, it’s a process.

3- It was the final stage of the personal story, what the heck did you expect. Granted, I haven’t done it in quite a long time, no idea how it fairs to it’s previous incarnations…but that’s your opinion, don’t make it sound like it’s a fact.

4- Blame yourselves, people whined the content was rushing by too quickly during holiday events and the Karka event and couldn’t make it in time for them. While the patches do feel a bit empty, it’s only empty if you ignore they are there. I run into the DE’s and sonic periscopes all the time. Only boring if you prioritize the content as such. I can easily argue how boring the entire game as a whole with your logic.

5- PvE and WvWvW has gotten plenty of love, now PvP gets a turn. They discussed awhile back (sorry I don’t have a source, I believe it was in one of their blogs during production) that they wanted to keep all aspects of the game tied so jumping between the different content didn’t feel so awkward. They tried, some success and some failures and to be honest, a split will help. The only thing they do need to introduce is a notification system to let first time players know there is a difference, so they won’t come on here whining when they realize that their powerful skills in zerg warfare don’t keep on par with PvP.

6- There are some things that need optimization, but if you fail at typing a message without reading it through before publishing, well, your literary teachers must sneeze a lot.

7- Many other things is not a good point. That’s like if I whined about stuff needing to be changed, because I don’t like this stuff. What stuff, you know…STUFF! You basically restated several points in the video! They have been working on content, changing the way content is delivered, adding welfare rares to world bosses, improving dungeons, improving on WvWvW, adjusting skill balances and communicating with the community. Of course you probably haven’t watched a “State of the Game” with the developers on Guru at all.

MMO’s fluctuate with their numbers, WoW’s numbers always drop before new content and expansions, always a joy reading how now the game is dying at that very second, only to jump right back up. GW2 continues to pump out new content and improve on it’s core design, for a flat price, that’s still worth every penny I paid for.

Outdoor Dungeon World Bosses- Rare Chests

Outdoor Dungeon World Bosses- Rare Chests

Acidicore.3264

This is discovery I found while dorking around inside the Flame Legion Temple, knowing full well there was no reward what-so-ever…until we reached the end.

Disseau Plateau- Flame Legion Temple: Rhendak the Crazed dropped a mini-rare chest similar to Maw or any of the dragon champions.

It’s a multi-layered outdoor dungeon only accessable when the Font of Rond portal to the far east of the zone is open, requiring a minimum of two players to traverse and kill him off. It was a massive and unexpected surprise, considering I truly did not know there was anything down there. Last time I tried accessing it was back at launch and thought it would be future content.

Not as “Ermagurd! Zerg Rush 4 Welfare Ectos” as the other Dynamic Event Bosses, so you can’t really farm it, but if it’s open and you wanna take your friends for a little spelunking, it was worth the trip, prior to the discovery of a free rare.

Anyone know if the other bosses have been updated as well, or was this just a fluke?

Is Paragon in sight for the future?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Acidicore.3264

Acidicore.3264

I liked the Paragons personally, but rarely ever saw them in-game. Anyone who ever whines about a heavy armored class using a spear has never heard of a Dragoon before. However since they’ve been…somewhat integrated into the Guardian profession, the likelihood of their return is very small, unless we revisit Elona, then we may see the remnants of the Sunspear order scattered about as NPC’s.

There’s plenty of interesting mechanics they could of incorporated, like they’re mid-ranged, heavy armored morale boosters who could wield halberds (as opposed to spears, since they exist), greatswords, shields, tridents and spears. Instead of swapping weapons, they swap stances, as in they have a melee stance and a ranged stance for the ~ key, and their f1 ability is a multi-tiered (each tier adding a new boost or healing capability) morale shout (that increases with abilities used, and slightly decreases as they take damage, about 1/4 as much as they gain) based on equipped mainhand/2h weapons and stances and using light-based combo fields; for example, using a shield and halberd, they should create a reflecting, unpassable barrier during the duration that prevents attackers form moving past the front line and the Paragon to attack the ranged behind him, while the ranged attacking through the wall cured conditions and healed a little for each attack. In ranged, could throw the Halberd and use the GS similar as the mesmer, but more flowing and wave-like and in melee could smack people like they owe the Pimpagon some money.

Juts fun little thoughts on the matter, even though it’ll never happen.

How to turn off titles?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Acidicore.3264

Acidicore.3264

While I like seeing another player’s titles, even better that it eases my paranoia that my clones have it as well, there aught to be an option to have them displayed. It’s not like one guy will turn it off and we all won’t see them, and not every player cares about the titles they’ve or others have obtained. Considering I’m running around with the SAB title (a display of my favorite activity in GW2 and sounding very a sura) it is rather long, plus three clones with it as well is just extra clutter.

If someone asks for me to turn it off, I’ve no problem doing so, but an option would be nice for everyone.

Theorycraft- Elder Dragons and Gods

in Lore

Posted by: Acidicore.3264

Acidicore.3264

The awakening of the elder dragons also would explain the quiet abandonment of the gods, with their source of power no longer in stasis, they might fear retaliation from their host if the dragons discovered something was draining them. However given that Primordius has shown no signs of specifically targetting asura of leeching, it’s also possible they have no recollection of events prior to awakening. Also, the gods may fear themselves becoming targets, having bathed in the specific elder dragons power for over a millennium, would be beacons to the elder dragons, whose hunger knows no bounds.

With the death of Zhaitan, it’s possible that Grenth could make a re-appearance now his largest threat has been destroyed. Although since he shares similarities with Jormag, and possible the Deep Sea Dragon, it might be his best interest to remain hidden they are eradicated as well. In that case, the reamergence of the gods might not occur till after they are all killed or returned to hibernation. This, however, raises the question that if they are siphoning power from the elder dragons, what will happen to thee gods once the elder dragons are killed.

Energy is static, the elder dragons require consumption of magic and material to maintain their impressive size and power, if they are apart of a recycling process of resetting the world to Day One, where exactly does all the power come from (unless such energy is released as they slumber, or renews through other means). If they’re killed off, and the gods no longer have a resource to maintain their godhood, will they find a way to maintain their status or devolve into consuming magic in an earnest attempt to maintaining status quo.

As you can see, my tinfoil hat is very tight today.

Theorycraft- Elder Dragons and Gods

in Lore

Posted by: Acidicore.3264

Acidicore.3264

Premise- Developing a rational relationship between the six Human Gods and six Elder Dragons based on both subjective and objective information ascertained from Tyrian lore and personal opinion.

The Elder Dragons- Morality is subjective depending on the society that governs it, there are no absolutes in this regard. The current dominant species of Tyria label the Elder Dragons as evil because of their ultimatum, “Corrupting and destroying life, consuming what remains before returning to hibernation”. What they actually serve by existing within an unknown cycle is inconclusive, however there has been several such cycles, so it’s apart of their nature. The methodology they use of corruption, gaining minions to carry out their work till it’s time to feast, is seen as obscene because of morality. Also due to the fact it’s being carried out in a xenocide on a planetary scale. However since their more of a force of nature, if any moral core within them exists and have yet to display as such, it’s just how they operate, similar to how a parasitoid wasp lobotomizes it’s victim and lays eggs inside while alive to continue on it’s species.

The Elder Dragons also have unique, individual methods of corruption ; fire, ice, crystal and reanimation are the current known, while the Deep Sea Dragon and “Mordremoth” are unknown (however it can be speculated decay and corruption of flora is Mordremoth’s main method of corruption). What exactly makes each special and how they came across their methods and why they use them are unknown, it’s impossible to grasp without knowledge prior to their ascension to elder dragon status; i.e. evolution (guided or natural), acquired or force given form.

The death of Zhaitan also doesn’t seem to effect the existence of the other Elder Dragons, outside of the loss of a specific corrupting element. Whether or not this strengthens or weakens the others, they have yet to display taking control of it’s minions, leaving some evidence that they can only control forces within their specific element. Once lost, it doesn’t translate to another elder dragon and it’s unknown if a lesser minion can take advantage of Zhaitan’s Death to transcend to elder dragon status, as such is unknown in terms of acquisition.

Six Gods- Each of the six gods correspond to a specific element(s) within their domain of power. However, given the fact that Abaddon, Dhuum and Menzies were also gods at one point, the power of a god is static and can be obtained by defeating or stealing from a previous god. Also, the power of a specific god can be parsed between gods, filling in a void as seen with the fall of Abaddon and is unknown whether or not one god could obtain all of the powers, if there is a limit to what they can control or if specific governing powers work best within relation to each other, allowing one god to control it while another cannot.

Connection- Six gods and six elder dragons, while it could be all coincidence, it’s also possible there’s a deeper connection. Similar to how the asura fed off the slumbering Primordius, the gods could also abuse the power of a slumbering elder dragon as a source for powerful energy as well as draining them may also have cause them to awaken. If a relationship exists, it seems purely parasitic, and would explain the diversity of the gods and elder dragons, as well as similarities in power.

Speculation of Connection
Balthazar to Primordius
Grenth to Zhaitan
Dwyana to Jormag
Lyssa to Kralkatorrik
Melandru to Mordremoth
Kormir to Deep Sea Dragon

Are videogames art or just entertainment?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Acidicore.3264

If I’m not mistaken, it was approved that video games are art by the Supreme Court so they can be protected by the Constitution, though that’s just in the USA. Art is merely subjective, I could find a dog pile to be a swirling mosaic of life, beauty and simplicity as easily as someone finds Van Gogh’s Starry Night in a similar fashion.

Addons?!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Acidicore.3264

Acidicore.3264

While addons for other games are absolutely necessary, because of the wide variety of things going on all at once, and yes they can be a crutch, sometimes they are helpful in managing and monitoring each other without the use of vent, especially in a pug. That being said, if it’s such a burden, you could easily create a mumble to better manage your group, and there’s big bold lettering over your abilities telling you exactly what’s going on.

I played several MMO’s, and when you have every single spell, plus macros on your bar, and addon will help in tracking specific times, but here you really don’t have to, because a good chunk is visual queues and having knowledge of what you’ve done and are going to do. This is due to the more active nature of combat, rather than setting everything up in a queue.

And personally, I prefer the cleaner, clutter free approach, though modifying specific parts of the ui (like in GW1) would be nice, it’s absolutely fine the way it is. I cannot go back to seeing the game through a window.

The video gaming genre is too vast to singly target one game that best defines it as a whole, because of the sum of it’s parts are varied between a large number of sub-genres within itself. MMO-wise, I’ve played plenty and currently it’s my favorite. It’s not perfect, and no game ever is and while it has many ways to improve on it’s core design, it’s a great MMO. Of course the “favorite game” either stems from either “in recent memory” or “nostalgia” factors, you could argue that Uncharted 2 was the best 3PS to come out, or someone could argue that the new Tomb Raider is better or that Golden Eye 007 was the best shooter in existence, it comes down to subjective opinions and we’ll never see one based on facts.

With future MMO’s in the future, some showing plenty of potential based on promises (Elder’s Scroll Online being one of them) doesn’t deter that I really enjoy GW2 seven months later.

So I was switching from my costume to my armor while on the broom, and my character made a very…odd face. It’s only stuck when she’s at idle on the broom, but it’s funny nonetheless.

Also, occasionally changes the eye color to red.

Guild Wars 2 is a job!

It is indeed a job, and Anet is always diligently working to improve upon the foundation to make it better, as they did their best with GW1. I remember taking a year or two off from GW1, came back and even the UI changed a lot, it looked cleaner and more dynamic. Constant kudos for their effort.

Today's expectations

Expect the worst, hope for the best. We already have a standard rundown of what to expect, like to see a long list again of extra stuff like the previous patch, and more to do with the Flame and Frost living story. I know it was designed to slowly evolve so everyone has time to participate, but everyone I know buzzed through it in fifteen minutes for the title and karma item and still have no idea what was going on around them.

After I played the Asura in the Beta and did my dailies in the reactor, it’s been my main spot for getting everything done in an expedient manner. If I need them done before reset, it’s where I go, but for regular play, I’ll just gradually obtain them as I go spelunking in Tyria.

Other than the greatsword being a decent chunk of change, I doubt they’ll reach legendary prices. We won’t know till October comes around, though looking at GW1 the only thing that changed were masks, which we all got for free.

My best guess is they’ll include them along with a new line-up of items to accommodate the new Halloween special.

Eh heh, if you think that’s bad, wait till you see some of the others they’ve cooked up. I played the beta a ton and did the puzzle multiple times, so I had it down to a science. Not bragging, but some players demand I stop cheating on Jumping Puzzles, because there’s no way I can complete them that fast. If you want, I can guest to your realm and give you a portal to the top. Do it all the time for fun, love hopping about testing my timing. Some of them are rather clever and well hidden

Tier 1, but that’s iffy. Several guilds left to prove a point they were what made SoS great (and failed for months to prove it), couple of other guilds also joined JQ making it harder for us to maintain a constant grip, several great commanders have just disappeared, the opposing teams working together whenever we get a leg up. Paid transfers helped a little, preventing people from jumping realms and jacking supplies and directing their main realms on what we’re doing.

It remains to be seen if we’ll pull out of the funk or not.

Legendary Crafting (Bifrost)

I used both the one and ten method. Made it to 34 with one’s and then made another 40 with tens…I think after ten tries (though I did get ectoplasm back…a lot of it, and lodestones too) and then the last three shortly after using one’s again. I’d suggest saving up over the course of a month, and then getting the materials and try crafting them all at once. Making one at a time will probably demoralize you, since there’s times you won’t see a clover for several tries.

At least then you’ll be able to weigh your effort by what you’ve produced in a single batch, as opposed to sporadic attempts. We’re creatures of visual stimuli, and seeing that you’ve made 12 clovers out of thirty in one sitting instead of throughout a month enforces you to stay on course that’s it’s possible. Chances are you’ll make more clovers than that, just an example.

Make sure you’re making clovers WHILE gather other materials, don’t focus on one thing and then the next, else it’ll feel like it’ll take forever to finish.

Is it still worth it to craft Legendary Wep?

According to your description, it’s not. It’s meant to be a weapon that looks great and has special effects that enhance it to show off the accomplishment of your craftsmanship. People will argue whether or not it’s a determination of skill (it’s not) or how deep your pocket (like to see data on how many made vs bought to prove all the tinfoil theory crap), it’s just a skin that shows how much time and dedication you’ve put forward to creating a skin. While it will transcend to ascended stat values when the weapons come out (best in slot), it’s not hard to acquire a weapon with max stats as of right now, and probably not later.

If you want a pretty skin, go ahead and make a legendary. If not, then don’t. There’s only so many legendary skins, so if you see it everywhere (to those who stick around) you shouldn’t be surprised.

It all comes down to this one question- Do you want the weapon skin or not?

I can understand why you’d rather wait, and to be honest, you did the smart thing but crafting the other gifts BEFORE aiming for the precursor. I finally finished off Meteorlogicus after a few months of crafting, and bought the precursor off the trading post because it was embarrassingly cheap (went for the looks of the weapon, come on, it’s so pretty!)

Hopefully the scavenger hunt lives up to expectations and it’s a KILL 100 THIS, DO THIS DUNGEON OF THIS AND FARM THIS, SHOVE IN MYSTIC FORGE….ENJOY. Put some lore behind it, make it like you find a map to a long lost weapon, but it’s been drained of it’s former glory. First you need to track down this relic and with the gifts, give it back it’s legendary form. How difficult would it be to create some lore behind a weapon that literally is a shard of the night sky?!
