You need to play more professions, badly.

The only classes that have real area denial are the ones that can
lay multiple overlapping AoE that does huge dps.

Tired of people expecting me to heal them

Ok yes, guardian can technically heal others.

Why should i waste my own surviviability on others, when usually after spamming my virtues, i end up dying since i mis-timed a heal.

Everyone always expects me to buff them but really I need my heals for myself otherwise im not tanky.

What do you say to people who ask your guardian for heals constantly?

Bet it’s the same people who praise the NO HOLLY TRINITY thing.

Not Getting Better

in Guardian

Guardian seems to be ok in PvE when up against less mobile targets,but in PvP it is one of the less useful classes.
PvP is a mayem of dps and speed and ranged dps and utilities and the guardian is just too slow paced.
Not to mention that in order to make it work you have to go for
raw stats.
It’s symbols are too few and too small.
It’s healing can in no way replace toughness or vitality.
It’s virtues are powerful but have very long cooldowns even with 30 points spent
on virtues traits.
So the way it is now the guardian is a euphemism for warrior.With less dps.
And a crappy ranged weapon.
When it clearly is not the best class in close combat.
The warrior is better.And so is the thief.And they both have better ranged weapons as
well.
As a guardian speced as not a guardian,the easiest class to kill atm is another guardian
speced as a guardian.(OOOooooOOOO)

I agree on that. They got alot of “Get out of jail free” cards.
I know they are the mind-kitten class,But why must it come with so much damage and utility as well?

That is the problem with all the high utility classes in every game.
It so happens that they also do the greatest dps.
And in every other game as in GW2,devs seem to not get
class balance at all.

I don’t believe it is my language settings.
I discovered the bug as I returned to the game.
Been away for a couple of months,and didn’t have
that bug before,and my language settings are the same.
Hope they will E fix it because it is E annoying.

I totally agree with everything but the crafting.
I find crafting one of the strong points of GW2.
I have to focus on “dynamic events” as Anet likes to call ’em.
Dynamic events are not fundamentally wrong.
Quite the contrary.
But it is the way they are implemented that creates the problem.
GW2 evolved the classic public quest type of event,and created
beautiful chains of events,that span over larger areas.
But,as soon as you finish an event,then it simply respawns
and there you go again.
And to add that flaw,the event respawn rates are way too fast.
And this is the problem when you decide to base your game only on dynamic
content.You need to keep your players busy,so inevitably you recycle that content.
So instead of a dynamic world,you got areas where certain events take place.
Every time you visit that area you get that event,and so on.
It seems to me that for such a system to work,in a dynamic way,
a lot more content and variety of events is needed.
And also there should be two types of events.
World altering,important events,that have a long respawn timer,and lesser
fast respawn timer events,to keep the players busy in the meantime.
The potential for a dynamic world is there.
But as it is now events,and event chains are static,and feel as dumb as any older
games quests.

Enemies respawn too fast in my personal opinion

I was thinking about this and I wondered if
anyone else saw this problem.
I started playing the game the past few days and it is obvious
that they really need to reduce respawn rates.
It is too fast.You say 90 -120 sec.
It feels more like 20-30 secs.
And it is not just the mobs.
The events respawn times are also beyond belief.
This is a game that is supposed to give the player
the impression that in game actions have some impact
on the world,and because of mob and event respawn rates,
I’ve never felt my actions have so little effect before.
It’s as if the game ignores you completely.
Slow down a bit GW2.

The E bug

E Hello
There E seems to be a E text bug.
In the map,in the E crafting window,and even on npc name E plates.
Tried E repairing the client but the Es are still there.
I haven’t played the E game for a few months so I don’t
really know when this first E buged.
Any other E player having this E issue?

[BUG] "My Story" is Blank [Merged]

I play a human guardian.
I’ve finished my personal story a few months back.
In the personal story section,in the hero page there
are a lot of story steps entries missing.
Scrolling down on the list it goes about halfway with
visible entries and from there down the list is empty.
The last visible entry is “Estate of Decay”.
From there on entries are lost

I’m using max settings on everything,except on shadows(set to high).
Resolution is 1920×1200
I use Vsync @ 60 fps
I also use FXAA.
I don’t use A.O.
I’ve tried playing with the graphics settings,in game and in my card,different AA settings etc,but nothing worked.
The only setting that improves the situation is going for supersample or subsample.
Supersample is very heavy and subsample is very low quality.And they both don’t fix the problem.They just make it appear less frequently.

Tried both supersample and subsample.
They improve the situation,but the bug is still there.Just happens less frequently.
Supersample looks nice,but there is a big performance drop,and the native mode is already great,so it is not worth it.
Subsample looks like the game is faded out.Details quality drops a lot.
And again,it’s not like they fix the problem 100%.
I’d like to play the game in the native resolution of my screen without this bug.
Fix this please.

A video example of some water areas,and what happens when
the camera goes under the water surface textures.
Note that this is common in areas where there’s at least
knee deep water,but not deep enough to swim in.
A simple fix telling the camera to stay over the water textures
in such areas would fix this.

This bug is the reason I don’t log in the game anymore.
Very annoying.
I’ve reported it before in the general bugs,and in the art bugs forums.
In my report there is a video example and a GameAdvisor
test report.
I check the game from time to time,and last time I checked a couple of weeks ago
the bug was still not fixed.


This must be a camera bug.

My drivers are up to date.
The problem started being more intense after the camera smoothing fix
implemented some time ago.

I just checked the game.I haven’t played for a while because of this bug.
It is still the same bug so I’m not posting a new video.
I don’t see other posts about this so maybe it only happens on my system.
I got an Nvidia card.
I’ve tried all kinds of settings, in game and in my VGA.
I don’t use ambient occlusion.
Any ideas on what is causing this?

Dynamic IP and Email authentication

I don’t feel very comfortable using mobile authenticators on my smart phone.
Even if Anet guaranteed for the operation of a 3rd party program like the Google authenticator,it cannot guarantee about my smartphones operating system,and it cannot guarantee that Google authenticator won’t stop being supported on iPhone.
(Apple can be that stupid)
A physical authenticator device would be the best solution.
I don’t live in Asia,but being able to manage the IP addresses would provide one more layer of security.
I know it is highly unlikely I’ll get hacked through one of my older IPs,but you can never be sure.
That being said I’ve already taken action to apply a fixed IP to my isp account.

I don’t see where is the problem.
GS Guardians now have the opportunity to spam 1 for 13 more seconds.
You could even have the time to through in one more double tap,and enjoy the view of your heavy armored class rolling like a ninja.
Or you can just leave it to auto attack and relax whilst playing this skill demanding rpg.
Isn’t this one of the goals of GW2?Not having to spam the same stuff again and again?
Guess not.
Sorry.

Environment and immersion improvement

Hello
The game needs some serious improvement when it comes to weather effects,day/night cycles etc.
Currently the world seems stale,and the few environmental and weather effects it has are either anemic or bugged.
Are there any plans to improve the environmental effects of the game?
Also,will the world get a universal sun cycle,or the current system of every zone having it’s own cycle will remain?
Is there any chance of getting something like this in GW2?

Dynamic IP and Email authentication

Hello
There are ISP accounts that use dynamic IPs that change every few days.
My account is like that,and I already had to authenticate via Email quite a few times.
From what I see in the security section of my GW2 account,there is no list of the previous IPs I’ve authenticated.Just the IP I’m currently using.
Can you please give me more info on what happens to the older IPs I’ve authenticated?
Are they automatically deleted every time I authenticate a new IP?
If not is there a way to disable them?

Hello GW crew.
Having day/night cycles,weather effects and nicely designed environments with ambient visual and sound effects,is a way of making the game world look more alive.
I suppose that you use such systems and techniques because you care,and because you believe that at least some of your players care.
But at the moment,these systems are so faulty that I can’t see the reason for having them in the game.
I’ve uploaded these short videos,with only a few examples of what is the common ground in each and every zone of GW2.
-Day/night cycle.
1.Each zone has it’s own clock and separate cycle.These zones are supposed to be part of a single persistent world.Do I really have to explain more about this?

2.Also,there is no transition period between day and night.
Suggestion.If you can’t spend time on fixing this,or you are limited by your engine,or whatever,remove it.Make it be always day.It would be better because the current system is that bad.
-Weather and rain effects.
1.The map zones of GW2 are already rather small zones.And weather effects are set to occupy an even smaller space in these zones.
So my first suggestion is to increase a weather effects’ radius by a lot%.,and even more.
Make it at least zone wide.Ideally you should make a weather effect expand along neighboring zones.
2.Now I have to talk about rain effects.
Zone after zone,there’s visual rain effects playing,but there is no sound playing along.
It’s like sound is set to mute.
Or sometimes there is the sound of heavy rain falling,but there is absolutely no visual effect to support this.

-Water effects,visual and audio.
1.If I say that at least 40% of waterfalls and water streams in all of the maps,have no sound effects and are completely mute,I wouldn’t be far from the truth.

2.Now,sound effects of water streams and waterfalls,even when they play,their effective area radius is too small.Suggestion.You need to increase that radius,so you can hear these effects from a greater distance.

3.When you dive into water from a high point there is no splashing sound.

4.The case of water covered but not swimable areas,where the camera is allowed to go under the water surface textures,making it invisible.

Suggestion.Do not allow the camera to go under water textures.
And a comment.
I’ll try and be as civilized as possible.
I just can’t relate the superior graphics quality of the game,with what is more or less,some of the worst environmental effects I’ve ever seen in a MMO.
Even WoW,a 8 year old game does better than this.It looks like it was made in the ice age,but when it rains you run for cover.
In GW2 when it rains you just don’t pay a lot of attention.
If you don’t care about such details you ignore it,and if you care about such details you too ignore it,because it is badly executed to the point of insignificance.

I know most players don’t care about day/night systems,but imo,the system of GW2 with every instanced area of the map having it’s own day/night cycle,is one of the worst systems ever applied in MMOs.Top ten.
It literally destroys an already broken immersion.I mean…bugged terrain,bugged weather effects,or missing ambient sounds is not enough?
What is the point of having such a bad system in a game?
Just to say that you got a day/night cycle?
Well you don’t.
Is this a system that one can be proud of,and talk about it in an MMO manifesto?
Say what?
Every instance will have it’s own day/night cycle because in the world of Tyria there are more than 30 suns and even more moons?
I see people complain about how mounts are not compatible with the lore of GW.
And this day/night system is compatible with the lore?
It’s incompatible with the lore and even more ,it’s incompatible with the human brain.

DR is killing this game more then the bots (for me)

Someone said this.It’s from another thread but it’s a great opener for my post.

“Please tell me how you lie and cheat to 80? This games leveling system is so easy that you can be 80 in a week with a modest amount of play time. They practically force you to 80, the higher level you are the faster the leveling gets!”

I got the last 2 levels entirely from crafting!!!
It seems that Anet wanted everyone to get to 80 asap.
So you got to 80,and now you want all the cool gear,but prices are high and currency is hard to get.Well not hard.Normal.But compared to the exp gain rate…….
So if you are impatient,you have to farm and buy gold.. Wanted that also.
And then along with the casual farmers and potential gold buyers,
also come the gold sellers and their bots;)
No one wants that.
So Anet gets DR to balance the situation,a bit.
But by reducing the currency gain rate,you make players even more impatient.
So the demand for gold seller gold goes up.
Also the demand for bots goes up,since everyone is 80 within the first month in the game,and they can’t wait till they get their cool gear.But grinding and farming is so boring.It’s not gaming.
And it’s not that you can’t get decent r80 gear at a reasonable price.
But everyone wants the exotics,and the legendaries.
Players that come from other MMOs know that getting top end gear from the 1st month is impossible.
Even if you play 24/7,there is the random drop factor,there’s lockouts.
DR is a sloppy measure taken on the fly,and gold prices at the TP are too high,but on the other hand it is players that drive the economy,and it is player behavior that leads Anet to take such measures.
If you go and buy gold,because you want all the gear there is to get,now,you will cause the gold prices to rise.
And if you go and farm the same dungeon all day you will cause Anet to implement DR.
I’ve earned more than 20 gold in this 1st month in the game.
So in 3 to 4 months time I will have all the gear I want.
The free ride to rank 80 maybe got a lot of players to think that top end gear would or should be equally easy to get.
It isn’t and it shouldn’t.
Not having lockouts in dungeons is meant to be for fun and not for farming.
Also what’s the big deal?
Is 200 more toughness,or vitality,or power going to make you a better player?
You will still die in a dungeon if you don’t dodge,and you will still get facerolled in WvW if you <kitten>.
GW2 is not a grindy game.
It’s not the second coming in MMOs,and it surely is not the innovation of the century.
But it is fun.
Anet took the dynamic and public quest system of older games and twisted it a bit, and based GW2 on it and the result is pure fun.
And it is as least gear based as possible.If it was less gear based it would be Hello Kitty.
If you stopped having fun and all you care about is farming then take a break.
And Anet….reducing the currency gain rate means nothing to a bot.
A boter does not spend time on the game.The bot does,and the bot couldn’t care less about your DR system.It will just keep farming.
Unless you can find a way to effectively and decisively deal with bots,no DR is going to reduce boting and gold farming.

Mounts!

It’s bad for lore,and apparently mounts would be designed by the terrain department.
Also Anet said no.
What can you really say against such logical arguments?

Mail functionality and gold sellers

You need to allow allow us to block gold sellers directly from the mailbox window.
Currently there’s a few of them that use letter characters that are not included in the English kb,making it impossible to add them to the block list.
Also allow us to delete a message even when there is an attachment to it.
Gold sellers might send you a few copper with their mail,and the only way to delete that mail,is to take the attached coins first.

Mounts are cool.
It seems that a lot of GW1 players are fundamentally against cool stuff.
I say we are lucky we even got some cool looking armor and weapons,because apparently they too are a reason for negativity in MMOs.
So,to say that you don’t like cool stuff is ok.I understand that.
But saying that:
" With mounts, speed buff would lose any kind of necessity for groups. Everyone would just pick up their mounts from their pockets and run around at maximum speed"
“So, once we get mounts you know what will happen? Streched-out zones that require an equal time to travel from A to B, but on an expensive mount”
“If you think it’s too expensive, walk. Simple”
“I’d think that if people were mounted, they would be less likely to stop and interact with the world / player base”
Come on.
These are not serious arguments.
Walking is boring.
Larger zones with fewer instances is the way to go.
I can pretty much ignore you dismounted,if that means not doing the same event that
I just did a few min ago(for the 5th time)
As for grouping.
Riding with your party,or your warband,or whatever you call it,on your way to storm a keep,is just as cool as liquid nitrogen.

Hello.
Just a question.
I’ve reported many missing terrain textures,or out of place textures,or invisible terrain and stuck/fall through areas,but using the in game reporting system.
Now I see there is this thread about it and I’m wondering if I have to report all these bugs again.
In the tool,I categorize them under General Environment and subcategory Terrain.
Do you get these in game reports,or such bugs should only be reported here?

Repeating NPC phrase out of nowhere.

Hello
I just went to Infinite Coil to see if the skill point was fixed after the new build.
Btw it was and I got the point(It was about kitten time).
As soon as I came to Gauntlet Gultch I heard a NPC saying the phrase “You know,your failure is only funny if you try”.
It was the champion NPC that had spawned in IC.
It took me about 10 minutes to get from the camp to the skill point,kill some mobs,defeat the robot,kill some more mobs and get back to the Gauntlet camp.
During this period the NPC phrase kept on playing loud,as if I was a few feet from it it.
I counted 19 times.Almost once per 30 sec.
So today I learned a valuable lesson.

If I wanted to play beta and report 10 bugs/hour I would join beta.
But I don’t like playing bugged games,and apparently beta trials didn’t help
this game to be somewhat bug free.
I log in Malchor’s Leap.
Try to do a skill point that is bugged for days.Still bugged.
I move on to do my story,near the instance I find a event active try to do it.It’s bugged
I get up on the Cathedral to do the events there because they are active.All bugged.
I try to use the TP. It’s off again.
I report dozens of bugs using the in game report tool,and I want to help make GW2 better,but the state of the game is nothing but a wide public access beta.
I know this is the industry standard.To release unfinished products.
You chose not to make a difference.
I’m off for a few days(the advantage of having no sub) and I hope you get your kitten together and fix the game fast,because at the rate you are fixing bugs right now,and given the number of bugs,it will take you months to catch up.

Generally,if the TP prices are too low to cover the transaction tax,sell to a vendor.
When I see an item selling at TP for a few copper more than vendor price,I don’t even bother.I just sell to a vendor and move on.
I only sell on TP when the item price minus the TP tax will make me a significant profit.Otherwise it is not worth it.

My opinion: Gold is absolutely useless

So your problem is that you have a lot of gold and nothing to spend it on…….
And a full set of exotics costs only 40 to 50 gold……

Tried it just now after the new patch.
It still kills you.
Please fix this bug.It denies entrance to a hole area of the map.
This is very important.

Guess you never played SWTOR;)
I’ve already reported dozens of bugs,sound graphics terrain,you name it.
I expected GW2 to be a lot more polished,but then again it is no worse on this matter than any other game that ‘s been released recently.
The situation in the higher level zones is out of control.
In most cases it’s just bugged events,which is bad but does not affect the completion of the map.
But bugged skill points…I left Sparkfly Fen because of a bugged skill point,only to find another bugged skill point in Mount Maelstrom.
And when I tried to at least do the rest of the map,and leave that for when it is fixed,I found out that there is a bug that insta kills you as soon as you try to enter the volcano.
Pure beta stuff,and I just don’t understand why they released the game like this.

It happened to me just a few minutes ago.I tried both entrances just to be sure.
As soon as I tried to enter the core I got downed.
You are lucky you even got to get in.

Just what the tittle says.
The situation is overwhelming.
I just loged out from a spot where there is ,,,a bugged skill challenge(been like this all day),a buged event(been like this all day),and bugged mobs,that are standing on top of a a pillar,being invulnerable(glitch forever,).
And in general,if I say that for every 3 different events I do there is at least 1 event bugged,I won’t be lying,or trolling,or ranting.

P.S If I had 1 copper coin for every time I reported a bug,I’d be rich.

It just gives people who can’t be bothered with guild stuff, an option to find a PUG faster. How’s that bad?

Because, given path of least resistance, you need to force a modicum of socialization, or it will not be constructed by the players.

In other words the developers have a very real hand in shaping (not just providing a framework for) their social online communities.
Because, LFD had exactly that effect in WoW: It removed the need to try to be social. Without it, your server reputation mattered. If people know you’re bad, they won’t take you along. You can build a reputation, both good and bad, for dungeon runs.
Add LFD, and the lion share of dungeoning will happen with the tool, not via custom-built groups. Given the anonymity when the tool sorts the group, social reputation is now a non-issue. You can be a jerk, and when you click to queue the tool will sort you into a group again, just the same.

How is that a “win/win”?

In WoW,if you have a bad reputation and you group up with people that don’t want to play with you,they kick you and in a couple of minutes they have a replacement via the dungeon finder.As it is in any game with a dungeon finder.
Also it never groups you up with people you ignore.
Dungeon finder is just a grouping up assist tool for pugs.
Instead of spamming LFG in the chat,the finder does that for you.
When you group up with people via chat spamming,do you get to interview them and see if they are nice people and good players?

I never got this “dungeon finder is bad for community”.
In every MMO I’ve played,dungeon finder made grouping and finding mates for dungeons,a lot more easier.
And every game that had no finder,because it’s players thought it would destroy the community,eventually got one,because the players demanded it!
In what way is spamming LFG in map chat,different than spamming item sales or spamming gold?(from a community point of view-I’m not saying spamming LFG is banable or wrong)
You spam LFG-you group up with players- get in the dungeon and fight.
What will happen after that,and whether players socialize and make friends etc etc has nothing to do with how they got to group up,given that we are talking about pugs.
Instead,a dungeon finder tool with some kind of a lobby function would make it a lot easier to group up,and a lot better for socializing.
In most dungeon finders as soon as the group is assorted you go in the dungeon and the fight begins.Usually players just say hellos and jump right in it.
If these players don’t want to socialize,the only difference without the
dungeon finder,is the LFG spams.
But what if there was a lobby,like as soon as the group is assorted,you get in a waiting zone for a couple of minutes,where you can greet,talk about roles and tactics etc,with the players you just met,and then get in the dungeon.
In what way would this harm the community?

In what game?
Tetris?
And no it is not working right.
It’s messed up in every possible way.
The fact that you don’t care about it is obvious.
From what you say you wouldn’t even care if there was no cycle at all.
Day/night cycle is a major contributor to the immersion in a game.
It is not “visual fluff”.And a lot of GW2 has to do with “visual fluff” as you call ’em.
There is even a book out about the “visual fluff” of GW2.
Your point is wrong.

Camera zoom

In some map boss fights,the camera gets fixed in a wide fov,and it is not possible to zoom it back in.
I usually play with a melee,so I have to be close to the boss,and it’s really hard to see what’s going on near my toon,in a mess of spell and action effects.
Please make it possible to adjust the camera zoom,even in these large scale boss fights.
Make it so that there is the wider fov available,but the camera can also zoom in if a player wants it.
