What is potentially very interesting(not) is that lvl80 characters with all the traits
unlocked and hundreds of skill points available,that have not done all the skill challenges, might have access to less traits in the xpac,since then only the points earned through beating the skill challenges will count towards trait unlocking.
I’m really looking forward(not) to taking each of my 7 alts back to the old zones to grind for hero points.
If this is the case this is another well thought out(not) change.
I am exc*ited(not).

What exactly is happening to skill points?

Looks like it will work like this. You get points by doing current skill challenges and can spend them on skills and traits. In the beginning you will have to choose what you want to unlock first but when you finish all skill challenges you should have enough to unlock everything.
Right now we have 189 skill challenges in pve. I assume they will be converted 1:1 to hero points. All remaining skill points that you got from openworld will be converted to some crafting material for mystic forge.

looks like it wont be 1 to 1. the pic has 2048 hero points.

Maybe the skill point to hero point exchange ratio will be 1 on 1 but the
amount of points to be spent will be in the 1000s given the amount of
skill points/scrolls we’ve amassed all these years.
Btw.Are skill point scrolls going to be turned into hero point scrolls or do we have to use them before the xpac?

It sounds like the goal is that instead of grinding EotM to gain levels and skill points, they’re trying to encourage players to explore and find these hero challenges while they level characters.

Yeah .Skill challenges are in very secretive and hard to reach places and they require some
10 sec to be completed.A truly heroic task.

Allow turrets/objects to take burn damage?

1.Don’t allow 2 of same turrets to be active at the same time
2.Don’t allow more than 3 turrets to be active at the same time.
3.Turrets should be destroyed when the player moves out of a radius of 1000 from
them.
4.All turrets should be destroyed upon player downed.
Just a few suggestions given that the turrets will retain their current stats and traits.

That worked extremely well with spirits in GW1.

But then again, there’s PvE, and you can’t have people losing their turrets because someone else comes along with the same ones.

What you could do, though, is prevent their effects from stacking.

For example, by making all turrets attack at the same interval regardless of when they where spawned, and when two of their projectiles and AoEs overlap, someone hit already by one can’t be hit again.

This is a very effective form of autobalance. Instead creating different AoEs with an effect each, you create areas of the same AoE effect, and when they overlap, only the greatest effect applies, and their shared AoE would hit up to 10 enemies instead 5.

This way, someone between two enemy flame turrets hit by their overlapping cone AoEs would be hit by the biggest power, condition damage, and condition duration, but only once. So more turrets could hit a bigger area and more enemies, but they could not focus their damage in single enemies.

I meant 1. and 2. as per Engi not per team.
What you describe would be nice but realistically I don’t ever see the game getting that complicated.
Also imagine the qq in the chat when two of the same class are on the roster and no player is volunteering to switch.

Why Guild Wars 2 is the most 'Square' world

Yes.The Tetris map sux.Ironically though the terrain design of GW2
is the best I’ve seen in an MMO.
But the individual zone maps are not put together in a way that they
form one large world map.
In many cases we are talking about totally separated zones,that don’t
necessarily even share the same borders,as the world map suggests.
For example,the rocks at the south sea border of Bloodtide Coast are
not visible from the north sea border of Sparkfly Fen.Or when you look
south from Kessex Hills into what should be the jungle of Caledon Forest
all you see is the end of the map box,an empty ocean.
Making the maps seamless would require a world redesign from the ground
up,and a lot of phasing tech in order to separate the players in the different zones.
So simply forget it.Maybe in GW3.

They can’t change the fight because there is no fight.
Just cinematics,King Kong Dragon,and some pew pew canon.
Between the laughable movable platform tech,the camera that
clips all over the airships and the resulting headaches,and the pew
pew,this whole encounter is beyond salvaging.
The only fun you get is when at the end you can jump off the
airships to your death below.

Same here..
I spent over 30 min on this s@#!@t trying to figure out what
was wrong.
It takes damage for 2 sec after being trapped by the flames and
then it stays invulnerable without the determined buff on.
What a waste of time.

So after you finish your personal story,the “point of no return” step of
LS season two,number 8 in a line of 8 episodes,immediately becomes
available and tracked on the quest tracker.
I even got the mail related to this LS step,without having played any of
the previous episodes.

Edit.I checked my alts and this is not an issue with any of the toons
that finished the PS before the PS revamp.
So this is most likely a bug.

My Greatest Fear Plotline

I know they are fixing this but still….
I made the mistake to play through the revised story,
it was bad enough that they left a whole chapter out,
but at the point where they make you back track to
a previous story step after you’ve cleansed Orr I just couldn’t
stand it anymore.
I mean…did they ever play the story once before they did this?
Whaaawtf…etc etc.
Unbelievable that such s@!#t can come out as a product of a studio
like Anet.

FPS DROP after Patch

First time I ran the game today after the big camera patch.
I did a world boss tour,the usual hundreds of players blobs,
I didn’t see any difference in performance at all.
I used 1st person view just for screenshots.
On the screens bellow you can see the settings I use.(AFx16 forced via Nvidia cp)
Then something really strange happened.
I ported to the Black Citadel.Entered the home instance to farm nodes.
Upon exiting the instance I zoomed all the way in to 1st person mode and
started walking up towards the center of the city,with the UI turned off.
Then all of a sudden my FPS dropped from a steady 60 to 6!
A game restart fixed the issue.

Performance issues in WvW after Update

Combat is balanced with 90% sPvP in mind.
The new stability change makes much more sense in a
small scale 5v5 encounter.
So because Esports etc etc ,WvW will either adapt or do whatever really.
It doesn’t matter because WvW is not Esports.Then again PvP is not Esports
either but with the new MOBA inspired game mode who knows…

I think a hearts quest is broken. I have tried dancing for the dolyaks but my heart meter does not increase, all I can do is pick up this stuff, help please?

Have you tried to tickle them?

Oh..it would be so much better yes.
Allow me to remind you the defining moment of a game with
the holly trinity.
In the screen bellow you can see a group waiting in vain for a tank
to join,after the primary tank left the party.
Now,people leave parties in GW2 all the time,but you know how easy
it is to get a replacement.
Well in a trinity game it isn’t.
I’m not against classes becoming more potent in tanking and healing.
Make em as tanky and healish™ as you want.
But designing the encounters to require a tank and/or a healer to be completed
100% no.

Possible Google Authenticator Security Risk

If your account has ever remembered an IP address or range of IP addresses, an authenticating process (mail or mobile) will not ask for verification, even when changing authentication methods. Thus, if an account moves from email verification to mobile authentication, it won’t ask for any past remembered addresses.

Also, those with dynamic IP addresses only need verify and allow so many addresses before the system ‘remembers’ them on its own.

I don’t authorise any IP, and since I started using the Google Authenticator
I prefer to have to enter the code on each login.
I used to authorise IPs when I was still using the email authentication method,
but I always de authorised older IPs each time my IP changed.
There is a list of all the authorised IP ranges in your account settings.
The point of this list is giving you control on the authorised IPs,and
making it possible for you to de authorise IPs you no longer use.
Apparently,there is a way for a IP to be authorised,but not appear on
this list,so you have no way of de authorising it after your dynamic IP hops.
This is a security loop hole.It basically cancels the added security of 2 factor
authentication for certain IP ranges.
On my case,this is now tested and confirmed,and I’m not going to go into details
on the IP range that causes the system to behave this way.
All the authorised IPs of an account should be visible in the account settings list.

You only enter the code from the app when you connect from a new IP range not at every log on

That is true only if you authorise the IP you are login’ from,i.e you
tick the box that says ‘remember this network’
If you don’t authorise a IP,you are required to enter the authenticator
code each time you log in.
For example,I reset my router and forced my IP to change,and now I’m again
asked for the authenticator code on each log in.
So in regards to my previous IP,the system was behaving as if it was authorised
when in fact it wasn’t.

Game DC during event

The game crashes during the Karka Queen event.
As soon as I see the message that minis are hidden due to
large player pop,the game DCs,I get the “a serious error has occurred”
dialogue box,with the option to send report to Anet,but nothing
is clickable on this box,it’s frozen,and I have to terminate GW2 in the
Windows Task Manager.

Finisher randomly resets to Basic Finisher

It’s a fault of the system design.
If you open the finisher page and a.don’t reselect your current finisher,
and b.don’t wait for the full animation to play out before you exit the
page,it resets to the basic finisher.
Also,sometimes it resets after you change maps,especially in WvW.

-I got the authenticator enabled.
-I don’t have any IPs authorised in my account settings,the authorised
IPs list is empty.
-I should be asked to enter the authenticator code on each log in.
-I can log in my account,both in game and in the site,just by entering
my pw.No authenticator code required.

It’s the second time this is happening.
Last time you completely reset my account and I had to do a account
recovery.
This happening again is not a coincidence.
I did some troubleshooting.
I successfully removed and set up the authenticator again,just in case.
Still can log in with just my pw and no authenticator code asked.
Unless there’s a invisible list of authorised IPs,that I’m not aware of,
there seems to be a security risk,where even if you have the authenticator
set up and try to log in from a unauthorised IP,you are not required to enter
the authenticator code.

TP not loading

There seems to be a problem with the Gem Shop/TP.
Atm it is only loading the currency exchange page.
The Gem shop is empty,and when you try to buy/sell
an item the transaction dialogue box is empty as well.

I really don’t get this.
Map design has nothing to do with winning or losing CY.
It’s just an arena.
TDM is the purest form of PvP.
It’s a 5v5,the best team wins.
Pure fighting.No gimmicks.
And it is selected by a lot of players in the queues
so I guess there’s a few of us that like to PvP.
Most common mistake I’ve seen in courtyard,
that results in one sided matches,is teams not
regrouping after wipes,and yolo pushing alone
and ofc dying.
@Zoso It’s true if you have a sense of how open field fights work
out,you have a good time in CY.
AFKing and complaining about a PvP match on a PvP game mode
is pathetic.Be a sport and help your team win instead of crying on map chat.
How would you like it if others AFK at Khylo or Foefire etc etc?
I’m dead bored of those maps,but still I play them.

First-person Camera View

No no no.Op.You don’t understand.
You should be thankful there is no option to zoom
the camera all the way in to a 1st person view.
You would have serious situational awareness problems,
and immersion breaking issues.
Let’s say you get into combat while in FPV and you want
to move back to 3rd pesron…
What would you do then?Ehh?
Confusion would gradually add up,to a point where you wouldn’t
be able to operate your mouse wheel and adjust the camera distance.
Not to mention that the beautiful world will be less of spectacle.

Finisher Selection UI bug.

I get this bug where the finisher reverts to my previous selection,
after switching finishers from the selection UI.
It goes like this.
I open the selection page.
I switch to a unlocked finisher.
Close the page.
When I open the page again,my selection is not saved.
It usually takes me 10 to 20 fail attempts to change a finisher move.

Am I the only one who happened to DC during a match,and after loging back
helped my team to reverse the situation and managed to win the match?
As it is now there is no incentive to log back in the game,and so a random DC
will most likely result in a loss for a team,whereas with the old system there was a
good chance of winning the match.
Ankittenhe only one who happened to DC right before the end of a match with
my team winning?As it is now I get the frustration on not getting credit for the win,
but with the new system I will also get a DH debuff?
Sorry but no.
Take the time to make your DH system smarter now,before you release the patch.
This simplistic approach to the DH debuffs is obviously faulty,and posters here have given you enough examples of how it is going to negatively affect the game mode.
Save us all from months of forum posts stating the obvious that was already stated
before the patch going live.

P.S Seriously….And,am I,as part of a sentence is being kittened?
Your politically correctness,could even make Hello Kitty laugh.

So they couldn’t add quantities lower than 400 gems in order to make the
transaction “easier” for new players and also allow their other players to
buy amounts closer to their preference.
Ofc,I am sure that there are technical and gameplay reasons for this since if they added more than 4 options the servers would explode and new players would be utterly confused,and that would require 10 more coloured indicating arrows to guide them through the exchange process.

So this could be a bug or a ninja feature introduced to combat players
making gold out of flipping the TP?

Are we not allowed to buy armor in large quantities anymore?

I’m trying to purchase items in bulk,and every time I press the buy button
I get partial success of 1 bought.
I select the max possible stack number from the slider,what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the answer!
Email authentication is back on and I managed to set the authenticator this time.
It was the time and date.You need to put that info in the set up page.

There is nothing related to E mail authentication on the security section of the account
page.There is a box for authorized networks,which is empty,and all other info is related to enabling the google mobile authenticator.
In the CS Email authorization related page there is a reference to a “send” button that you have to use to initiate the process of shielding your account via Email ,but there is no such button neither in the site account page nor in the client launcher.
I am 110% sure the Email authentication is enabled for my account.
I’ll open a ticket but the fact is that atm my account is vulnerable and I can’t at least resort to the mobile authenticator since that simply does not recognize any of the codes generated on my phone as valid.

Is E mail authentication removed?
I was just able to access the site and my account and log in from and unauthorized
IP without getting any confirmation E mail from Anet.

Yeah, I just started a brand new character to test it…bleah. I would be furious if that’s the game I’d gotten out of the box, I can tell you. I mean, I’ve had the game for 2 years, I’ve gotten the $180 plus dozens of gem cards the family has purchased worth out of the game. I don’t resent or begrudge them the money I’ve spent. I had fun.

Now…I’m certainly not going to level an alt in a system where I don’t get weapon skills or story or anything unless it’s spoon fed to me in teeny little bites. Yuck.

I would love some recommendations from folks on other games to consider, because my kid has totally lost interest, and my guildies are going back to WoW, and frankly, this new Play Like You’re Chinese game isn’t what I want to play.

Spoon feeding content…adding spoons as collectables..

OMG cow feeding was not a joke indeed…..
This is worse than I thought.
Can you picture this?
