Anet will not merge server…. HoT is a big sucess, look at all those full server.
We have hundred of players in game.
Well, we didn’t see them on the new BL, but they are here, for sure, look, lot of server are full…

I am not sure if you understand the topic clearly!
PvE-wise, yes they are packed. WvW-wise, there is a huge gap between T1 and T2 and the rest.
I know that the solution is not easy, but I hope to see some kinda of solution some time soon.

Additionally,there aren’t even separate PvE servers…we are all in the same
PvE megaserver.
The only reason separate servers exist anymore is for WvW.

Which I have and haven’t ran into an issue with. Every mobs doesn’t need to be made so that you can faceroll through otherwise we have what we had before the expansion. If you see mobs that apply conditions, equip utilities that cleanse. If you see mobs that do knock downs, daze, and the like, have stability at the ready. It doesn’t take much to prepare for what you’re about to fight unless having to do that in the first place is the real issue.

I haven’t seen any platypuses in my travels. Should I therefore conclude platypuses don’t exist?

The stun-locking occurs when dealing with multiple mobs that have disabling control effects. Several different types of HoT mobs have them, such as beetles, teragriffs, chaks, punishers, cavaliers/mounts, wyverns and the like. Mobs that don’t possess these abilities won’t cause the problem.

If you haven’t encountered the stun-locking issue, you can find such scenarios in any HoT map by fighting several enemies with such abilities at once. This can occur during dynamic events, especially upscaled events that take place in confined spaces, such as caves, ledges or platforms.

If you still don’t believe it possible, you can get a quick taste by running into a crowd of mobs with such abilities in the open world — such as beetles in the Verdant Brink, for example — though I don’t recommend doing so otherwise.

Having stability for such eventualities is nice for professions which have ready access to it, but even then, it’s easy to blow through all the stability possible very quickly, and the cooldowns tend to be long.

In protracted fights with lots of mobs, which are de rigeur in HoT events, it can become an issue, hence the comments to that effect which you are unsuccessfully attempting to refute.

Concluding players desire faceroll content because they don’t like stun-locking is as fallacious as concluding problems don’t exist because you are unaware of them. That’s straw-man bashing, which, though easier than confronting actual differing opinions, doesn’t convince anyone of anything, other than that straw-man bashing isn’t constructive.

Moreover, you will never convince the many players beside yourself who have been subjected to stun-locking that it never happens, and the very idea that they would believe you over their own in-game experiences is patently absurd.

If you don’t see a problem with stun-locking and haven’t experienced it yourself, that’s great, and I’m happy for you. But making false, condescending statements about other players when you apparently don’t understand what they’re talking about looks as silly as it sounds, so I advise against it.

The only time I could see this occurring is if you are trying to solo a group event, or maybe if you’re just trying to run past mobs without some sort of speed boost. In actual open world fights I have yet to encounter a problem where there are too many mobs for me to successfully avoid damage and CC.

It happens all the time.
In fact the other day I was thinking “Did anyone tell Anet it’s fun when they get
stun locked in PvP that they had to put this in open world PvE as well?”
Pretty much as soon as your stability is on cd and you are out of dodges
you will get stun locked by the CC spam.
Talking about multiple foes encounters here.
A few years back this would be a joke,but now mobs in HoT spam more
CC than they do damage.

And again,this is open world content we are talking about.
I can understand these mobs in Fractals or in Raids but not in the open world.
This is supposed to be played by players of all levels of skill.
I provide this feedback as one that kills pairs and triplets of Vets,and can solo even some of the Champs when I have the time and patience,but as soon as you got
5,6 ,7 mobs around you it gets fubar in a heartbeat.
Way too much CC,way too many conditions,relentless spam.

If players have to break their KBs to fight open world mobs,then what are Fractals
and Raids for?
That’s why you can never have really challenging open world mobs.
Imo,it’s as stupid and pointless as having easy Raids.

Revert the colour of the xp bar.

I’m talking about the new WvW xp bar.
It’s of a bright almost white colour that contrasts with the rest of the
UI border,which is black,way too much.
It’s like a fluorescent lamp under the action bar.
It always stays in my field of view,when it shouldn’t.
It’s has become the most visible UI element at the bottom of the screen,
especially when I’m not looking directly at that part of the UI.
An xp bar should never be made of bright colours,it’s supposed to be in the
background and not be more visible than the dodge bar or the health orb.
Please give it the darker colour it used to have,or at least allow players to disable it.

I don’t know..I just played the map for the 1st time and it seems
fine.It’s how it’s supposed to be.At least in my opinion.
Overall it’s more or less the same as the old maps,in terms of the
dimensions of it’s periphery and the distance from North to South,
and East to West,but it utilizes space more effectively and it does not
leave a lot of unused space.
Which is good.
I can’t say the same about the new mechanics and all the PvE stuff though.
Maybe Anet should have released the maps first,without altering the
game and then partially add the gameplay changes.
The way I see it the problem is not the map,but the lack of players in it.
T1 EU is more or less a graveyard when compared to what it was 6 months ago.
Maybe it’s time to merge WvW servers.

I run full berserker i think the mobs in hot are perfectly fine , there should be some sense of danger in the world
If i see an elite Hylek or a couple of vet Hyleks(the ones with deadly dagger or range evasion) i just avoid them or rush through, couple of arrow shots and half my hp goes
Feels very engaging , no change plz

This post basically says: “I don’t think enemies are too strong. When I see a couple of them I avoid engaging because they are too strong”. XD

Yap.If you run and don’t stay to fight everything is alright!
There’s the problem.
These mobs are overtuned only when you fight them.
If you run they are ok……..

XP Boosters/Food bug.

There’s definitely something wrong here.
In most cases I pop the booster and I get the same if not less xp than without it.
Can somebody check this out?
The xp numbers I’m getting are all over the place.
A few random examples.
Tested on a lvl 80 Thief,with and without a ‘+50% XP from kills’ booster,and no other booster/food active.


Marsh Drake (Lvl 46 Bloodtide Coast)

Without the booster: 316 base+594 bonus = 910 xp

With the booster:447 base+354 bonus = 801 xp
———————————————————————————————————-
Basilisk (Lvl 46 Bloodtide Coast)

Without the booster:315 base+741 bonus = 1056 xp

With the booster:447 base+390 bonus = 837 xp
—————————————————————————————————————
Dolyak (Lvl 80 Frostgorge Sound)

Without the booster:401 base+941 bonus = 1342 xp

With the booster:568 base + 179 bonus = 747 xp
———————————————————————————————————-
Grawl (Lvl 80 Frostgorge Sound)

Without the booster:401 base+56 bonus = 457 xp

With the booster:568 base+0 bonus = 568 xp.

In most cases it’s less xp per kill with the booster on than without it!
In Verdrant Brink yesterday,base xp gains from kills with and without
the booster were exactly the same,but with the booster on I got no bonus
xp from any kill,so overall I was gaining more xp whithout it.

To put it bluntly, 64 bit launcher alone takes about 280-320mb of ram.
During game-play it takes every last bit of ram it can take as far as I can tell. I’m getting a little performance boost (5fps on an average) after startup, but in time it is lost as ram usage jumps from ~2-3GB (that I usually get on 32 bit) to 5GB+ on 64 bit client.

By the way it also produces a long-lasting lag. What I mean by that is the game will run fine, but closing or alt-tabbing out will lead lags that slow down the whole PC for ~5-30 seconds. Basically after switching out from gw2 client PC becomes unusable for a period of time.

In case someone’s curious I’m not playing with ultra settings and I’m playing on:
CPU: Intel i7-3630QM at 2.4GHz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: GeForce GTX 660m
OS: Win 7 (x64)

Get another 8 gigs of ram,up to a total of 16 and you’ll be fine.
What happens when you are Alt Tabing is that the OS stops
giving the game priority in RAM usage and unloads the game
from the RAM to the Hard Drive,in order to make room
for any other program you want to run,and that slows down your PC.
It’s the interactions between the physical RAM and the virtual memory
on the hard drive that causes the ‘lag’.

I think this ram usage is just memory/resources that don’t get deallocated on time. I am just reporting it as a problem, it’s up to Anet to decide if it’s a valid problem or in fact an expected behavior. Also, If you are going to dismiss it, at least give some reasoning that’s not a paraphrased quote of the FAQ.

The longer you play the more memory is used just because of memory fragmentation,
thats a “normal” problem with how C++ works.

For all the folks that are not able to just set some settings down it was normal
to crash after a while so the memory was cleaned up .. with 64-bit there is no
crash so you experience what we hat had 10 years ago when we had a max of
1-2 GB memory with 32-Bit Windows -> usage of the swap file.

Of course maybe not so many did ever experience that since at that time a lot
people refused to use 32-bit and wanted everything to run still with Win9x.

However .. if you don’t want swapping now, there is still the option for lower
settings, restarting the client now and then .. or buy 32+ GB of RAM.

Why on earth do you need 32GB of RAM to run GW2?
Or anything gaming related for that matter.
The 64 bit client goes up to 6-7 Gigs with everything set to max.

I agree with the op to a point.
Two major issues I see here.

A.Although the majority of the mobs are nicely balanced,
in the case of the Frogs,the Vines and some of the Mordrem Guard,
they are overtuned so much it’s pointless.
By that I mean.Way too much CC,way too many conditions,
and overkill spamming.And take in account we are not talking
about 1 or 2 mob encounters here.In many cases I’m between
5+ mobs,and each of them hits like a truck,and spams CC every
couple of seconds.
Did you just cleanse 9 stacks of Torment?No worries,here’s another
9 to play with.And did you just dodge two consecutive knockdowns?
Well.Time to hit the floor because the CC spam never stops.
Add to that the Stealth/Evade spam kitten.
What’s the point of this?This is open world content.
It’s one thing to make it interesting,and another to go full on Hurdur
with the difficulty.And that brings me to the second issue.

B.Where can a player go to find more laid back content?This used to be
the purpose of the open world.It ain’t any more.So where?In Dungeons?
In Fractals?In Raids?In another game,maybe?
There is a time and a place for everything.
Challenging content belongs in instances.
Open world content needs to be hard enough to make things interesting,
but the game went from the ‘wake me up if I fall asleep’ combat of the old
maps,to the ’don’t miss a dodge or you’ll die and even if you don’t miss it you’ll
die anyway’.

The overtuning of some of the mobs in HoT is overshadowing what is otherwise
a nicely balanced game.
It’s a shame really.
And it will drive players away.

I’m out of the previous step instance and back to the map.Tried using the WP more than once.Nothing happens,the tracker still shows ‘Get back to VB’,and there is no LS marker on either the map or the minimap.

Not sure I correctly followed the instructions. I downloaded the GW2 64 bit beta client and dropped it into my GW2 data folder and started the application. But its downloading the entire game again. I’m not sure how to ‘’Update any shortcuts to the game to point to the new file instead.’’

More than 1 ways to do it but I suggest this.
Copy the GW2-64.exe file you downloaded in the GW2 folder.
Then proceed to delete any previous GW2 shortcuts you are
using(Desktop and Taskbar).Then right click on GW2-64.exe
in the GW2 game folder and select ‘send to desktop(create shortcut)’.

Can we have a re log grace period in PvE maps?
Because losing 40 minutes of progress for a 10 sec disconnect is not fun.
Other games have megaservers too.They don’t throw you on random maps
after a disconnect.
I can’t believe I have to come here and ask for this.
It’s like asking for seatbelts in a car.

Bug: Arcana Obscura Issues [merged]

Found this thread so I’m not starting a new one,although I’m sure I’ve
reported this bug before,a long time ago.
Been stuck at Ogden for so many months…….
It only gives you the trivial dialogue options ,and not the ones that lead on
the episode.
You can see the main dialogue window loading for a split second,and then
the “tell me more about..” dialogues load automatically as if you selected them
from the main conversation.
Nothing else is interactable in the room.
Exactly as Mafetix describes it above.

Do you have multiple level 80s on your account that you were taking through the episode?
- no.

Were you in a group and if so, were you the instance owner?
- no group

Did you switch from Episode 05 to a later episode before you completed Episode 05 for the first time?
- no

Have you been able to complete Episode 05 at least once?
- yes

I can’t complete the achievements because of this bug.
Can’t even get in Glint’s lair.

In the 1st screenshot you can see the main dialogue window as it opens
after you interact with Ogden.

In the 2nd screenshot you see the secondary dialogue options that appear
automatically.

As it happens,I’m doing some world completion left overs on my Warrior
this past days and ofc I use the WH for the speed buff.
Besides the initial brbbrrrffffff,at the very last milliseconds of the effect,there is
a peak that is even painful to the ears.
If they were going for ‘worst audio effect on a weapon ever’ award,
I’d say mission accomplished!
It’s like an elephant farting through a PA system.
I just hope no animals were hurt during the recording.
I know I can’t hope the same for any microphones.

Ascended Dyes

Why not Legendary dies?
For that much more particle effects over your already particle effect
full legendary armor.
Imagine this.
When combined,legendary weapons,armor,back packs,and dies,
our toons won’t just have some gear with particle effects,but instead
will be particle effects with a toon somewhere in there in between all
those shinies!
I wouldn’t go near a skritt cave like that though.
I’d be abducted and forced to stay in the cave forever as the ultimate
shiny of all time.

Get rid of all walls

Being on the walls should give defenders a serious defensive buff.
Like 90% reduced damage from players,50% reduced damage from siege,
immune to CC.
That way it could simulate the effect of a defender being covered behind
defensive structures,without having to actually build elaborate walls in game
and have to worry about geometry,LoS issues etc etc.

Maybe if players that can hardly control their class and their game and all they care about is their personal points didn’t join ranked matches,people would have the
will to stay and fight.
But going ‘This is Sparta’ when you got a couple of players playing with their kitten
in your team,becomes pointless after a few matches.
I’m no pro,but I know the basics and I can’t play with players that have no clue about
the game in my team.
I wish there was another advanced ranked mode where you could only join if you had
at least 200 ranked wins with your class.

Right now they are telling us which zones the Mordrem are attacking. It would be awesome if something just like this flashed on your screen to say:

“Tequatl is attacking Sparkfly Fen!”

Or

“Claw of Jormag is breaking up the ice in Frostgorge Sound!”

etc etc etc…

This kind of alert system, per your suggestion, would help a great many of us who get sick of having to reduce the game to check websites for timers.

What happened to the 'no grind' philosophy?

There has always been grind in GW2 for high end items/skins,and that grind is as heavy as a grind can be,but the difference with other games is that gameplay wise,you can get a set of second best in slot gear and do 99.99% of the content for no grind at all.

I suggest options for the event tracker like we got for the content guide.
I could be a drop down menu too,but it would be less of a fuss if it was
just a column of boxes we can tick/untick.

Event Tracker
Dailies. On/Off
Zone Events. On/Off
Personal/Living Story. On/Off

These are turned on by default so that new players don’t miss out on anything, but allow for some customization to vet players.

I got over 4K hours played since d1,done all of LS seasons 1 and two,and I
still have completely useless LS notifications on the Event tracker,the Minimap,
and the World Map.
Isn’t this against your philosophy of having an austere event tracker,and not
bloating that side of the UI with text,especially when it’s of no use to the player?

Fractals seem to be a better platform for adding new 5 man dungeon content.
It’s more of the combat less of the story/cut scene stuff.
And they make much more sense from a lore point of view.
They are repeatable because they are pockets of space and time you can enter.
No conflicts with the rest of the game world*.

What absolutely kills it is the add banner on PvP map loading screens….
It’s like “ok I got it,there’s a BETA,ty vm”.

And I don’t believe that whomever gets invited to participate in the BETA,
be it the press,or a You Tuber,or even a player,needs a reminder that the BETA is
running and you can participate in it by purchasing HoT.

Not annoying.
Just indicative.

The game absolutely needs out of combat speed skills.
Not talking about a mount in the traditional form of horses,cows,dragons etc.
That wouldn’t fit with the game.
But otoh,I find it lame that in many cases I ‘pollute’ my combat build with speed
increase traits/utilities that I wouldn’t otherwise use,just to compensate for the
lack of ‘mounts’.
The need for increased out of combat speed is there and it will always be there,
no matter how innovative you try to be.
What we have now is the equivalent of a game having just mounts and no fast
travel method at all
.
When you think mounts in GW2 don’t think horses,but anything from simply a skill
that you can activate only when out of combat,or an effect like the levitate mount in
Rift,or a jet pack,a hoverboard etc etc.

There are so many people in this game that feel entitled to everything that happens in the game, I have no idea why people have to be so harsh to other players that just want to have fun in the game and want Guild Wars 2 to be the best game on the market. But one of the many reasons it isn’t is because of the Entitled fanboys.

I don’t know about most of you but I am sick of people saying “Dueling can’t be in the game because I don’t want it to be like WoW”. Just because a game has dueling doesn’t mean its like wow all it means is people want to have fun dueling with their friends and random people they meet in the game, there is zero to no excuse for there not to be dueling the game! Some may argue “But its going to bring unnecessary toxicity”. Go to most spvp lobbies and see how toxic it is there, go to world vs world and beat someone in a fight and see how fast they whisper you.

Most people need to be more open minded about things and let Anet do Anet and not go on the forums being a keyboard warrior saying that you will quit if the game adds a certain feature. There is a reason why wow and many other mmo’s are successful, this game needs to stop listening to every single complaint that fanboys make and just do their thing they did a hell of a job in guild wars 1 and guild wars 2 but with all these people complaining all the time believe it or not they actually listen to them! If anet wants to add mounts let them, if they want to add dueling let them do it, stop complaining for every single thing!

Let us have our mounts and dueling it will not break the game it will not be the end of the world it will just give more people more fun stuff to do after they get bored, mounts could be added to end game and add lots of life to the game as drops or wvw badges and so on. This game has so much potential but the fans are trying to constantly limit it.

White spaces are your friend. They break a post up into digestible pieces and put thoughts of the same type in the same paragraph.

Honestly now, players are getting upset because the game is informing players that a beta weekend is going on and in tiny print if you want to join in then buy the expansion and they give you a link that will pop up your browser.

Look at it! How is that a problem. Having it in game like the P4F accounts have then I can understand the rage but the load screens? Seriously?

The devil’s in the details.
It’s not upsetting.
It’s just one more little brick in the wall of sloppiness and the ‘one size fits all’
mentality.And as a whole,that wall makes me worry about the quality of future content,UI design etc etc.

Is this important enough for them to design 2 load screens and code the game to know which accounts have the beta and which don’t, then show the correct load screens? Is it important enough to take the necessary people away from the work they are doing on the betas to do this instead? Or is this something people will see for a few days and completely forget about after it’s over, because it’s so minor?

The game already knows if you have purchased it or not,that’s how it allows you
to create BETA characters.

I do not know if this one is intended or a Bug. who knows.

Maybe it falls under the category of ‘Bug that’s been on for years’,
so it then becomes an intended feature.
