What would be interesting to know from a statistics point of view,
is the average ratio of win/lose of solo players when going against premades.
Numbers can tell you all shorts of different things,depending on the way you
read them.
As long as they put all levels of players in the same pool,and don’t
separate solos from groups ,there will never be “good match making”
and a fair playing ground.
What they could at least do is,to have separate laderboardscscszdz
for solo and group/team players,that is for when ldrbrds return.
You join a game solo,the outcome counts towards the solo ldrbrd.
You join a match with a group of two or more,the outcome counts
towards the group ldrbrd.
On the other hand if they separate the player base now,given how
relatively small it is,the Q wait times will explode.
It will be so cute to be able to see all the rage and name calling
that goes on in team chat in large chat bubbles,whilst trying to fight.
That way there will be no chance of simply ignoring the chat.You
will have to endure,excuse me,I meant to say enjoy,all the fun loving
and never ever raging PvP community in all it’s glory.
Too much damage output,and sustain,for too little player input.
I just got to the final fight in the personal story as well and found it absolutely awful. The amount of bugs – I had to do it three times, solo – hnnnng….
Nice to know it’s not just me. I mean, Zhaitan sounds DEVIOUS during the story, but makes sweet sweet gentle love to a stone pillar while I fire cannons at his face? Errrr…

fight could be better,or even better,couldn’t be any worse.

What I understood ,from what Anet was saying while LW was active,
is that they had separate teams for LW and the content that we usually
associate with expansions,and that both were being developed parallel to
each other.
I didn’t expect that big of a content gap either.
I don’t see where the problem is.
As long as you are playing WvW you are getting closer to
achieving those achievements.
It’s just a matter of how you see it.

Um, I thought there were portals and big gates that blocked access to citadel area for enemies. Essentially as far as I can remember there’s no way for an enemy to get there legitimately.
Well,obviously they are hacking.
Either flew over or went under the map.
And their invis has nothing to do with the class they play,
it’s not the normal stealth,it is hacked,so traps wouldn’t
be of much help.
Are there even high level champ trains anymore?
I thought farmers are all in SW farming chests.
And you don’t even need to be lvl 80 to do that since there’s
no combat required,just running around and getting the chests.
If you want to farm,look in LFG for SW chest farming maps.
The only thing you’ll have to care about when you run there with a
low level toon,is to not aggro mobs.but then again the zerg will
most likely annihilate everything in miliseconds,so I wouldn’t
worry too much about it.

Oh look, yet another PvP update.
Uuuurgh. I’m so sick and tired of seeing all these PvP updates (http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3g8sd4/new_pvp_content_pvp_leagues/) while WvW is ignored yet again.
I know you guys are working on it after HoT, but it would be nice if once in a blue moon we actually got some sort of update as to what’s going to be updated WvW-wise. Whether there are any new rewards (there should be since the last skins we got were the temporary mist ones from the tournaments that come once a year if we’re lucky), or a permanent reward track etc.
All I seem to see these days update-wise is PvP. PvP gets all the frikkin love. Do you guys not like WvW or something? I’m starting to actually get seriously p’ed off with all the focus on PvP while WvW has so many bugs/hackers/no new rewards. The list goes on.

I agree, this new classification/transfer system is very poor for Oceanic/SEA players.
I play in SEA T1. There is very small SEA population outside of tier 1.
This change has locked every SEA player and guild to whatever T1 server they are currently on.
If SEA players/guilds leave their current T1 server they end up in T3 or T2 (at best) and end up having very little opposition (and thus very little fun).
Guilds want big fights against top class opposition.
I’ve been playing on JQ since the early days. I have friends on JQ that I don’t want to leave and I have a new friend that has never played GW2 that I want to introduce to WvW.
My friend can never join us. I won’t be able to convince my JQ friends to move to some backwater server for someone they do not know.
This change is actually increasing the WvW population rot (I’m not going to get my friend to buy GW2 and play WvW because he can’t join us).
I would also dispute that Tier 1 is full – JQ never has all maps queued (except maybe 30 minutes after reset). This is not a full server. We could queue 3 more maps with players. We are maybe 1/4 to 1/2 full in terms of our queues.
The servers should be able to support 4 queued maps all having blob fights at the same time on each map. If it can’t do that then they need to fix their servers to handle load not invent “Full” classifications.
For those mocking T1 and calling it a ktrain – that is so far from the truth. 90% of time in T1 SEA is open field multi-guild fights. JQ was relatively empty during the golem ktrain because we all found it so boring compared to fighting.
This change hasn’t stopped server overpopulation. It has simply altered the strategy for how people overpopulate a particular server. Instead you now get a situation like Yak’s Bend where everyone transfers into an empty server before it gets classified as Full.
GW2 is about letting people play the game they want to play it. If people want to roam on empty maps then let them live in T3 and below. If people want to blob in T1 and sit in long queues then let them.
Existing players on T1 should at a minimum be able to invite their friends onto their server.
Just open up everything up and let people transfer where they want and let the queue lengths be the control that discourages overpopulation.
I totally agree with you. Let people what they want, we paid for the game. Don’t use "stupid’ game politics restrict the fun of us. Otherwise, more and more people will leave the game. I think population balancing is important but anet locks migration of high tier server is a terrible idea. It can’t solve the problem and make it worse. It is the same as golem week. Besides locking the server transfer, wvw guesting system would be a better way to solve the population problem. You just need to let players guest to other server and enjoy the wvw. Set home server player have the priority enter their bl. Set a 1 minute timer for guest server player to kick them out of the map if a home server is in queue for their home server bl.

Firstly,forcing old and established players out of their server because of
over population,while the lower tier servers are empty,and letting that chaos
be the only regulating factor of server pops is madness.
And then making WvW servers open to all.
We are already concerned enough about spies with multiple accounts
in our communities .
WvW servers are not Megaservers.
And WvW is not EotM,yet,thankfully.
What you are proposing is,because you are willing to spend money,Anet should
allow you to destroy what’s left of WvW.

According to Anet, old and new borderlands will be rotated.
Anet said the current BL will be removed and it might return sometime in the future.
There will be no rotation in HoT.
Not lvl 80 so can’t equip weapon.
Salvage weapon and it’ll be in Wardrobe.
Keep weapon if you intent to use it at lvl 80,
but you won’t get the skin unless you either
equip or salvage the item.

You need to add a grace period in MS maps,like you have in PvP maps.
There is nothing worse than losing the work of 40min because of a 20
sec disconnect.

ArenaNet is trying to make an Esport THEN PvP.
All the problems EVERYONE is currently having with PvP is because ArenaNet is trying to make an Esport from a PvP that has to many problems. They even allowed teams to abuse the weapon stowing ele exploit in the PvP finals. League of Legends will ban entire teams if one player is caught cheating.
It doesn’t matter how great your PvP is ArenaNet, League of Legends didn’t become an Esport because Riot tried to, it’s because the COMMUNITY wanted to. Sports are created by the players, not the makers. It doesn’t matter how good your game is, it’ll never become a sport when you don’t have a strong community.
But hell, I doubt ArenaNet pays much attention.

Yes the cap needs to be relowered. Even BEFORE the caps recently went up by 10 there was still skill lag permeating the entire map anytime two full queue forces collided or even a 3way semi-heavy brawl. The cap raise might be appropriate for HoT, but unless the expansion is coming out in within the next month, why make the upper tiered WvW communities suffer in the mean time?
To prepare the WvW croud for the future challenges of life!
Also if you believe HoT will be any different in terms of server capabilities,
I say don’t hold your breath.

Its great that fractals and the living story are getting so much love. You can get legendary precursors from both segments.
What about WvW? We get one new map?
What about all the people that just do WvW?
How is a person that just plays WvW to obtain such love?
and yes there are a large percentage of us that just play WvW.
“There is no such person”™ and from what I understand
in this game such a person should never exist.
As such,all measures are taken so that players have more than
one reason to not play just WvW.

How about starting with simply making the game able to support
massive open world battles?
Because at the moment,it can’t.
The truth is that after 3 years there is still “skill lag”,as we players like to call it,
in upwards of 4secs,whenever there’s more than 100 people fighting in the
same spot.
Until you do this,I can’t take anything you say seriously,because really,everything
else don’t mean nothing unless this has been dealt with.
You have made a lot of progress with regards to traditional lag,and big FPS drops.
I don’t get those anymore.This is great.
But I need to be able to use my skills in combat.
Skill lag in excess of 4 sec is unacceptable.
Either provide support for massive battles,or accept that WvW has limited
capacity,and lower the player caps.
When you say I can support X amount of players in a map,that should mean
that if all those players came to fight in the same spot,the servers can handle this.
There is no other way around it,I don’t care how big is a map or whatever mechanics you use to disperse the population.
Considering WvW achievements, I don’t believe it is even possible.

There should be a separate underwater build page,with skills,traits,everything.
That page should be part of the Hero panel.
Underwater class mechanics,are in some cases so different to the land ones,

like the weapons,and people will have the choice of either

In one word,no.
One thing that GW2 does well,with regards to it’s combat,
is that you don’t need a specific type of class/build to
complete it’s content,and that all encounters can be dealt with
by any possible class/build combination,to different degrees
of effectiveness and speed.
I don’t want to be needing a Healer or a Tank for anything.
I’m all in for Tanks and Healers,and I’m all in for Anet to provide
specializations and classes/builds even more focused to what
a traditional Tank and Healer would be,but not make them
essential for anything.
And if you ask,well then what’s the point of having them in the game?
The point is that some players,me included,like to play Healers and Tanks.
And that should be enough.
You already can build a quite good Heal oriented class and finish 100% of the
content with it.
The problem with PvE combat design in GW2 has nothing to do with the trinity,
but with the shallow and dull mechanics Anet implemented,especially in the
earlier game content.
They have improved a lot on that though,starting with Teq/CW Raid and then
continuing on with the LS s2 DT/SW encounters.
As for the rest of the game modes,do I have to point out how bad requiring
a dedicated Healer class,in order to be effective and competitive,would be for
sPvP and WvW?
Again,I’m not saying that such classes can’t be useful for a team,or fun to play,
but creating an absolute need for them would be a step back for GW2’s combat system,and worsen the game experience for the majority of players.

When you can’t even salvage the gear you get in WvW,
when all the goals you got regarding armour,weapons,
and all other gear can be obtained 10 times faster in PvE,
when 99% of the updates to the game regard PvE…..
When Anet channels players to PvE that way,and does almost
nothing for 3 years to further develop WvW,is it any wonder their
metrics show them that everyone does PvE also?

I you see my metrics,and I appear to be liking PvE more than RvR,
I don’t.
It’s just that you treat your WvW players as second class citizens in terms of
everything really ,and that your RvR mode is lacklustre.

About factions.
I’d rather they consolidated WvW servers and merged the populations.
PvE is MS anyway,the only reason separated servers still exist is for WvW.
Part of what keeps a RvR player engaged in a game is server/realm pride.
Loose factions ala ESO don’t work,and I believe I don’t have to comment on
the abomination that is EotM sides/colors system.
dont worry we only have to wait 6-8 months for HoT!
Every serious WvW player is just biding their time waiting for Camelot Unchained. Figure that game will be out in 16 months. GW2 will need a lot more than just 1 new map in HoT to keep the players.

PvP players would choose the half @ss RvR,2 map sidekick,that
is WvW in GW2.
WvW population will decline and that will lead to even more focus
on the PvE.
Atm GW2 is playing without any real competition,but at least is

Most other PvE MMOs don’t even do that.
Most of the people that complain about WX privacy settings,that
can be turned completely off,have FB pages full of personal data
they voluntarily provided to the advertising industry,and not only.
I admit,WX potential for gathering personal data is beyond creepy,
but maybe some users want that,and they’ll use those services(to MS,
not the user).

I understand they’re “busy finishing HoT” (which we still don’t have a release date for lol) but I was under the impression there were different teams working on different things and not every single person was working on HoT. Idk how game companies work tho so I’m probably dumb :’D
I believe the statement that they are able to produce content for
the regular updates.LS,etc and develop a expansion at the same time,
has gone out the window from the 200th floor and is still making it’s
way to the ground where it’ll be pulverized.
Although I prefer night time in games being simply a lot darker
than day time,there are techniques you can use to give the feeling
of night time and still have a very playable game with everything
clearly visible.
GW2 utilises non of them.
As far as I’m concerned this game has no night/day cycle.
Or to be more precise,the day night cycle is such a joke.
It has almost 0 effect on environmental lighting,a 5% difference maybe,
the transitions from day to night and back to day take 10 sec,it’s
like someone flipped a switch,and there is no correlation between the
colour of the sky and the light emanated from surfaces on the ground.

And since this is not a bug but a design feature,it’s place should be in the

Since the beginning of GW2, my main characer has been a bunker Arcane/Water/Earth Staff Elementalist.
I’ve always played her a in a more supportive role, providing boons, regenerations and being able to tank stuff if needed.
The playstyle and the effectivness of the build are viable; the issue is that there’s a certain style of player that doesn’t care about “viable” exactly – they care about doing things as fast as possible.
We reach a bit of a design pitfall. Arena.net is afraid of creating content that requires “tanks” or “healers”, since that would be reminiscent of the holy trinity that GW2 has done away with. But if content doesn’t require tanks/healers, it means that focusing solely on DPS should work – and should, logically, be the fastest way to do it.
So people that want to farm will tend to favor playing with all-out DPS builds and will often want their partymates to also be that way.
Still, I do find dungeons and fractals parties from time do time that don’t seem to care about that, and it’s a fun experience.
Regarding PvE and Dungeons,Fractals.
It’s not just about the speed.
A defensive built player in a zerker party will most certainly
result in the party wiping.
I see a lot of people not getting this.
When you come in defensive,and you get the perception that you keep

for more defence in the first place.
Whenever I join a proper zerker party the difference is very noticeable,
I get a lot less pressure from boss damage,when compared to parties with
support and tanky players.
Content can be done with any build,but not all builds work well together.
i can’t deny the fact that majority of players do prefer pve/raids in particular.
I’m not sure that it’s a “fact” that most PvE players in Guild Wars 2 prefer raids.
Why would i say that? Here is the thing: this game would do better …if it had more population.
What makes you sure it doesn’t already have more population, given that there was a demand for an expansion pack, which doesn’t have a due date?
I believe the poster meant more as in more than the current

Since there was “a demand”,whichever demand that may be,there could be
“more population” or there could be less or there could be just the same.
But then again why would the expansion have “a demand” if it ain’t already got
“more population”?

It’s like they run out of ideas when it comes to this matter.
There should be a way for players to check out all the alternative
skills that replace your main weapon skills.
As for underwater combat,there should be a different build page for that,
including action bar utilities and traits.
Underwater class mechanics are so different from land combat,
that in many cases the traits you chose for your land build are
completely useless and non applicable underwater.
I don’t care about the laederbordszzds,but I don’t play to
lose either.
Common sense people.
Unless you are a troll I don’t see any reason why you should do that.
There is nothing to try out when a class is unfinished,and you ruin your team.
Don’t bring a unfinished,under performing class,that is
still in beta in ranked matches…
You shouldn’t be allowed to do so in the first place but hey…
