Rangers stealth removal skill needs to go.

I find it funny how they continuously nerf eles cantrips under the excuses that too many builds rely on them or eles rely on them too much in general yet they do nothing about the fact that thieves generally cannot survive without stealth. I’m not saying to nerf stealth, I’m saying everything else needs to be buffed. Especially traps and venoms. Rangers are OP right now but it’s not because of their ability to apply revealed. The solution is not to bring them down so much as giving the other classes more options to counter them.

8/10 Nice job mixing and matching the armor pieces! Not a big fan of the color of the armor though. Also, I like the hair, it’s a good use of one of the vibrant colors without it being too much on the eyes.

It does get easier at 80 but it’s not because of invigorating precision, though it may help a little bit. If you are not using the signet of malice heal skill I recommend it, every time you pistol whip you’ll get healed lots. When you get your elite slot daggerstorm works really well with that signet and sometimes can get you full HP.

Mesmer. Thief gets nerfed a lot and right now isn’t a desired class for PvP as it’s only role can be outdone by many classes. Mesmer is also less difficult to play.

Achievement Completion: Jumping Puzzles

If they added a decent reward for completing all the jumping puzzles a lot of people would probably say it’s unfair because “jumping is too hard”.

Also, a solution to the problem Zaxares mentioned about new JPs being added to the game could be a title you get based on how many unique JPs you’ve completed instead of it being from of finishing the entire achievement tab.

Nostalgia for Old Metrica

sigh Even more fun content removed from the game… GW2 leveling is too mindless and easy now it doesn’t feel much like a game. On top of the mindlessness, fun content was removed from starter zones. Why? So new players can have less fun? I’m confused, how does this retain players? First they add LS1 where the content never lasts, then they take away SAB… now this. I loved what this game was when I first bought it and I would have never have imagined it would actually have less stuff do to after a year and a half of playing. Probably never gonna level another character the old way again. Just gonna use tomes and craft then run around like a robot to get waypoints. I better get another monitor because it looks like I am going to be watching a lot of Netflix.

I am an artist/musician with OCD and let me tell you, taking apart your creation and removing bits and pieces of it does not make it better… after a while you just get some disjointed looking thing with no flavor that doesn’t even resemble the original product. There needs to be less focus on fixing and changing and more focus on new ideas and expanding. For example, say I have a story with character A . I feel like the story is missing something, so I decide to change up character A. Eventually I don’t even have a good story anymore because they are not the same character anymore. If I had added character B instead of changing character A I could have kept the essence of the story preserved while still complimenting the existing character and driving the plot.

asurans still exist why?

in PvP

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

They really should put it in all PvP arenas. I’m an asura and I sure as heck don’t care whether you see my shiny armor or not. The color is already overridden anyways. There are small tournaments out there that are more frequent than ToG and I would like to participate… but asurans are banned. Now, if they would just add the option to change character models to all arenas, this problem is solved and a portion of the playerbase is no longer excluded/forced to pay for more character slots.

Decrease In Thieves

Aguri.2896

I used to have a thief as a main… I got ascended gear, a fractal short bow, the legendary bolt, map completion and hundreds of hours of experience as a thief. I knew all the little things people don’t know about the class… but then it became such a problem for me I had to re-make my character as an engineer. I am not happy, but I will also not be happy as a thief. Why? For me it’s not so much the nerfs directly that ended it, it’s because the community have made me feel awful for playing a thief. It’s either thieves are useless in PvP and WvW or they are OP and cheese and I should feel bad for using one. Every now and then I hear the whole they are selfish and have no party support bit too… I loved the class and still do but now I am to the point where when I log on I just log off.

I want to have fun in a game where classes have no defined roles, but look, the community went and turned it into WoW and apparently thief doesn’t have a role anymore. I want to be a competitive PvPer, WvWer and do high end fractals.. but all that is a no-no for a thief. I’ve been trying to force myself to like engineer… thinking that I would eventually but I’m still not feeling it. GW2 is starting to feel a bit like a bad marriage. I want to love it again like I did at first but I just can’t. : (

It’s not ANet’s fault for the nerfs, it’s the people who keep attacking the thief class that ultimately caused them… if they have never said anything things would probably only be half as a bad or less.

I’m more upset about the fact there is no LS until November 4th. I hope there isn’t a break for Wintersday too. Why are we stopping our all important war with Mordy to fight a separate war in the mists then eat some Halloween candy? And how is SAB taking away from the story if we can do huge breaks like this?

Since the first part of the LS was 4 episodes, I would imagine this last part is also 4 episodes. That would put the finale on 12/16. I would think they would possibly start the wintersday activities either the next week (12/23) or the following week (12/30). Although starting on the 30th would be a late start. Regardless they shouldn’t need another break.

Mid-season break doesn’t mean it was necessarily in the middle of the season.

I find it odd that the old system was difficult for people to understand. I am one of those people who does not like a complex new player experience and shuns most MMOs because of it. Yet, I started playing GW2 a year and a half ago and I am still here. That should say something about the complexity of the old system. I am just one person but if I found it easy than surely it can’t be that confusing.

Also, these QoL changes aren’t needed as most people didn’t really care that much. Obviously we liked the way the game was before and all the features because you hardly ever saw a complaint about that, so why change it (leveling and trading post especially). Instead of QoL “features” we should be getting real features, such as new weapons, classes, races, dueling, guild halls or any of those other dozens of things people ask for 2 million times a day.

I don’t mean to bash the current living story, as I do really love dry top and the general theme the story itself is taking… but I just don’t get as much enjoyment out of it as I did from SAB, Zephyr Sanctum, Wintersday, Molten Facility dungeon, Aetherpath, Tequatl revamp and other such updates. Not once did I ever get hyped about the story, not until during that final battle with Scarlet and it ended after that fight. I just really loved that fight and the music with it. The story at the moment seems to neglect the main aspects of the game so it just feels like there’s not much really there. (again, dry top is a step in the right direction we just need more of it.)

GW2, I love you, and that’s why I must be honest with you. You need help. I know, it’s hard to ask for help, but you have many players who love you… if you would only let us in so that we could help. I will not abandon you, I will support you through your journey, but it hurts me to see you like this.

The guild qol changes were pretty much needed. Guilds were separated by servers dividing the influence, bank, and mission. This changes fixed so many problems with the previous system. Apparently, the new update tries to group guildies better.

dueling

There isnt a solid majority who wants dueling. They did add some things such as an arena in obsidian sanctum and pvp arenas.

If they have never introduced the megaserver that would have never been much of a problem in the first place as most people would just join guild in their server or switch servers. But with the megaserver (which I think hurt communities more than it helped) people accidently end up in guilds from the wrong server or guilds would just go multi-server. I agree, that needed to be added now but I don’t remember there being much demand for it before. What I am saying is the game would have gone on fine without these changes, not every single little function needs to be 100% perfect. I must say that I do like the wardrobe though and I will also acknowledge they did add some features the previous feature patch, like PvP rewards, which is good for the game.

Also, I didn’t say I thought everyone wanted dueling I used it as an example of a feature. Though I do lurk the forums a lot and I can for sure say that I see more people wanting dueling than the changes we got except for maybe the guild changes, commander tags and PvP exclusive armor.

My concern is that they will continue to focus on altering how the game functions and that the game won’t grow because of it. I’d be a lot more happy with more content than a different TP or a revamped leveling system (which I thought I liked at first until I saw how much content was locked out).

The reality is most gamers don’t play games for the story and just want to do other aspects of the game. This is especially true with MMOs, where 99% of the game IS the rest of the game. Open World, Dungeons, Fractals, WvW, PvP and any other features or maybe even new game modes should be the focus. This is especially true when it comes to replay ability. I generally don’t watch TV shows and movies more than once, so why would I play through the story in a video game again unless the story was where the core gameplay was (again: dungeons, fractals, WvW, PvP, literally anything else in the game).

Also, these QoL changes aren’t needed as most people didn’t really care that much. Obviously we liked the way the game was before and all the features because you hardly ever saw a complaint about that, so why change it (leveling and trading post especially). I’d like player to player trading as an option alongside the trading post. What if someone wants to pass out items to a large number of guild mates at once? They currently aren’t able to do more than 2 at a time because they get listed as a spammer. Guild Bank isn’t an option because you can’t trust they won’t just steal, then there’s the problem of likely not being anywhere near a guild bank.

Why can't I make my asura look sexy?

in Asura

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

No… just no. Assassin outfit maybe, pirate outfit should be outlawed. If my female asura were feminized and sexualized, I’d delete them.

What if I told you that the Pirate outfit wouldn’t be “sexy” on Asura females at all? It would show some skin, yes, but it still wouldn’t be “sexy” because we are just… not sexy. I am not the OP, I don’t want to be sexy. I just want to look slightly more female-ish and I want clothes that don’t CLIP on my Asura… And the female version of the Pirate outfit would be one of them because it’s not a stupid huge skirt or huge coat… -_-

My current armor (see below) does not show ANY skin and I’m perfectly okay with that, I just wear this top because this is the only freaking thing that isn’t clipping!!! It’s also quite unisex and I like it!! Why can’t I have more stuff like this? Everything else clips with my arms and weapons and/or looks too guy-ish… Why? -_- We need more customization options because 98% of the medium armor we have is a clipping nightmare. Or fix the stuff we have.

And yes, the dresses you mentioned clip like hell! As a medium armor user, why do I have to wear stupid coats all the time? Let me wear something like THIS. WHY IS THIS A LIGHT ARMOR? WHY CAN’T I HAVE AN ARMOR LIKE THIS?! It’s not sexy, it’s tight and unisex. Exactly what I want but NOOO, I get clipping coats, coats, coats, MALE CLOTHES and more coats! Unfair or unfair? : (

I didn’t say I thought the pirate outfit would be sexy. I just imagined it on an asura and realized it would look absolutely horrible. Also, sexualized doesn’t have to be used to describe something that is sexy. That word can be used to describe something heavily influenced by gender, also known as a sex. My point was that it’s putting too much emphasis on gender and that’s not really the way asura are supposed to be. They have plenty of feminine hairstyles already and if you work at the armor you can make it fit.. I just don’t think existing outfits should be changed and certainly not the whole way asura perceive gender. A lot of your problem seems to be a general asura/medium armor issue anyways. I have only one medium armor asura because there is only one coat that looks good period and that is the T2 coat. As for the clipping, if your not a human/norn/sylvari get used it because it’s here to stay : (

Yeah, we don’t have boobs but we should be able to wear the female version of armor / outfit! In real life, girls who have small boobs don’t wear male clothes, duh!

My Asura is female and I’m sick of looking like a guy. The Ancestral outfit would be nice but I hate it when my toes clip through boots. More options for female Asura clothes and proper holes for our toes, please! -_-

FEMALE PIRATE AND ASSASSIN OUTFITS, PLEASE!

No… just no. Assassin outfit maybe, pirate outfit should be outlawed. If my female asura were feminized and sexualized, I’d delete them. Why? Because that’s not what they were when I made them and one of the draws for me was the lack of sexuality. How is it fair to change/remove something that other people like? I’m so sick of only being able to be strong buff men or skimpy, weak and sexualized females. I like the asura and their gender neutralness/equality.

Also, you can make feminine asura very easily if you mix-and match armor and choose appropriate colors. Don’t forget the fancy-winter outfit and witches outfit either, both are dresses and very feminine.

I just got a fractal capacitor skin and was so happy, running around like an idiot firing my dual pistols in joy. Then I realized I should probably get some of my dungeon rotation out of the way, so I swapped out that extra pistol for a shield so I can use the blast finisher. My happiness then faded as I watched the fractal capacitor disappear as my character placed the shield on his back. Revitalize the Game World, Resetting Hearts.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aguri.2896

I’m not okay with hearts resetting every month. I have severe OCD (the real deal) and this would drive me nuts… on top of that what purpose is do to them again as a level 80? The rewards are aweful… not much incentive to do them again. I think to add re-playability to the hearts you have to re-design how they function and deliver rewards.

What about a new currency system revolving around hearts? Each time you complete a heart you would get so much of the currency (this would be account bound) and each heart related NPC would sell unique items (by unique I mean unique to the heart or map) that you can then trade the currency for. Of course this means there would have to be a manual reset but I’m okay with that since if I don’t want to I don’t have to. I realize karma kinda does this already, but you can get it elseware lowering the incentive to do hearts and the rewards are crap. This would give much more incentive to do hearts if they have unique rewards tied to them. It would also be a form of non-RNG based rewards which would be good for the game.

Another suggestion would be (would drive me crazy but whatever) what if once you reach world completion you get a tiered harder/longer version of the hearts and each time you complete it increases and gives better rewards but you can only complete that heart once per day?

I just don’t think a simple reset makes them worth while. It would give me more incentive to re-do them if they had a real function for us 80s and people still leveling too.

DO NOT change the dungeon owner system

I don’t understand where all the complaints about kicking are coming from. I’ve been playing for a year and a half (3,900 hours play time I think?) and have done many dungeon runs (including speed runs) with pugs and have only been kicked twice before, once as an engi and another time as a thief (because 4 warriors for CoF p1 isn’t enough apparently) both before even entering the dungeon. The new system is fine,
do you know how disappointing it is to get all the way to Mai Trin on a level 19 fractal only for the host to rage quit because we wiped -one- time? If you get kicked a lot you might want to consider what you as a player can do differently next time.

u kinda just answered your own question about the kick system with thsoe 2 experiences of yours but lets broaden the question for a second

what if some people in the group want to do the mai glitch and some dont? some might wana kick over that, what if their is another argument in the group? u have no right to hijack the party from the opener over this no matter what, EVER

Even if the owner is someone who afk’s mid-dungeon to make dinner, something he knew he would have to do in advance?

Also, if you notice my two experiences are before entering the dungeon, so it’s not like I had my progress erased. On top of that, it is 2 times out of several hundred.. not often enough to be a problem. Not nearly enough to complain about.

if the dungeon owner wants to have a slow relaxed run where he can take a break and make something to eat then thats his choice he created the party. im not saying its polite and i certainly wudnt do that but its still his party and you can still leave. if your heavily invested and dont want to leave just wait, if you dont have time to wait then you also didnt plan ahead now did you?

but these examples are becoming increasingly niche and represent less than 1 in a thousand chances and i think most of us know that

The guy I am talking about was afk for 30 minutes and was not the party leader. I was the one who created the party and I let him open because at the time we were friends. He knew it was a fast run for experienced players looking to get their gold asap but he still did this anyways. I felt really bad for the other people there… Yes, the fault is on me for trusting him but what about the other 3 people who expected something better? They shouldn’t have to suffer for our mistake.

thats very reproachable and i sympathise, but as inconvenient as that is i do think the party LEADER deserves autonomy, maybe it should no longer matter who opens but if im the first one in the party or if i start the LFG system i or any party leader out there deserves to be kick proof

Why do you think the party leader deserves immunity from a kick? What makes them above the opinion and wellbeing of the other 4 party members? It all seems very exclusive and unnecessary to me because a good player will not be kicked.

The Shadow Assassin outfit has the same problem. It would be really nice to see this fixed because the shoulders ruin both sets on 90% of characters.

If you are really into creating and customizing characters it can be fun, but if you prefer to just play the game or like to play a select few characters I don’t recommend it since there isn’t any benefit you wont already get from having your 8 toons already.

A thief without shortbow is a complete waste

While the shortbow is useful that statement is not true. I’ve had games where I had my main melee weapon and then shortbow in the other slot, but I rarely switch to shortbow because it wasn’t worth the lack of DPS. Before you say “You’re playing thief wrong!” no, I’m just adapting to situations that don’t always call for a shortbow. If there are team mates in the fight (especially if they are struggling) I will focus on DPSing down the enemy as quickly as possible to prevent my allies from taking any more damage and to cap the point as soon as possible. (note: my role is damage/roaming so this won’t apply to all thieves and isn’t what you should always be doing, I’m just using it as an example)

The usefulness of your shortbow depends entirely on your build, your team mates and your enemies. Now say I was with a burst ele or another thief and we were fighting against a regen warrior, then I might use shortbow for the poison. But that is not always the case, so how can you say a thief without a shortbow is a waste?

Because the main role of a thief is getting quickly around the map, +1ing fights. You can’t do that without infiltrators arrow. On top of that, without shortbow in crazy, random AoE mid fights, youre contributing absolutely nothing since to melee would mean instant death

Most maps are not that large, I often find myself using the occasional heartseeker (don’t want to drain my initiative too much before the fight) to move and using shadowstep for a little bonus because half of the time when I disengage I’m in combat and I’d rather be able to use my dagger again as quickly as possible. I normally don’t have a problem with AoE because I dodge and/or move out of the way. My problem is when I get focused, usually single target attacks (Mesmers! shakes fist).

And as I said, shortbow is good but not having it doesn’t mean you are a waste. My point is not to say don’t take shortbow but to explain what you can do while not using shortbow.

Im not arguing HS over infil arrow. Theyre both relatively the same on flat ground. But infil arrow gives insane mobility across the Z-axis, something only 2 other professions can even do, and with hefty cooldowns. You can’t “dodge or move out of the way” of random AoE and dmg flying around. You’re just being stubborn. Thieves need shortbow to be successful in mid to high tier pvp.

There’s only a few maps in which that is really needed and I do use shortbow for that.. but that’s it. Trying not to get too attached because it feels like an exploit to me.. only a matter of time before they fix it. As far as AoE goes most animations are obvious enough, avoid them and any big red circles you see. It might take time to learn them for new thieves so that can be a problem. As far as single target damage? Like I said, that is difficult but you can still dodge it if it’s not too overwhelming. S/D has evades so if you time it right you can avoid them. D/D while traited gives you stealth with a blind, and D/P or S/P (if you really want to be adventurous) has an AoE blind that can work if your enemies are boxed in. Again, I repeat, shortbow is good but a shortbow less thief is not a waste. Yes, shortbow is very helpful and can turn the fight in higher level PvP but not having it does not mean you are 100% useless.

I feel as I have deviated too far from the original topic so this will be my last post here. I hope I was able to help someone by posting this at least.

I think that’s because a lot of inexperienced players tend to gravitate towards thief for PvP and WvW because of the stealth mechanic.

Jellyfish as new playable race

This would make a great april fools joke. They could add an NPC that turns players into jellyfish (retaining all their skills and able to go on land) for a day. They should even add a dance animation. It could later be added to the gemstore in tonic form kinda like the bobblehead lab. If they don’t want to animate weapon skills and such they could give the jellyfish physic capabilities and have all the weapons float.

I put way too much thought into this.

What may be sexy to you may not be what asura find sexy. Also, with their unusual body shape anything “sexy” or feminine is just going to end up being as bad as town clothes on female charr.

Why would someone even want a sexy asura anyways?! Most of them look children and the ones that don’t look like children are cringe worthy.

Thief get nothing

Sometimes I wonder if thieves just get nerfed to make the warriors happy since they are the majority. Who in their right mind would think this class needs a nerf? What it needs are viable traps, venoms and non-stealth reliant builds (nerfing stealth ones doesn’t help with that, all it does is make the thief over-all weaker rather than adding to build diversity)

Seriously, in PvP I either focus thieves because they are a free kill or ignore them because they do no damage and don’t contribute to point capture. Thief needs help, big time.

Hello, I tought I’s voice my own toughts about SAB, may end up a bit lengthy but oh well.

So to start off, I understand why Anet wouldn’t put in SAB right now. Living Story Season 2 is turning out to be a success, lots of people playing it, while SAB release 2.0 got mixed reactions. If you were a game company, would you go for continuing a success story, or take a risk and maybe fail?

Looks like LS2 and SAB world 2 got the same response to me “Too much jumping, way too hard!” The reason LS2 has better metrics is simple: no new gear treadmill and it has better rewards. Also LS1 had so many complaints it wasn’t funny, yet they went on to LS2? I think it’s safe to say the forums don’t speak for everyone. On top of that, they could just release what already exists rather than withholding an entire game from the community.

If they released a Living Story where the only rewards were skins tied to hour long missions and at the same the time released a new gear tier that you couldn’t get from LS I’m sure people would end up focusing on the gear tier and not the LS.

When World 2 came out instead of doing tribulation mode I went for my ascended gear. Why? Because I’m competitive. Was I happy? I was miserable every second of grinding for that wretched gear and still haven’t finished to this day it was so bad. I thought SAB would return so I could do trib mode but I will never get the chance…

Despite the ascended gear I still did world 2 (when it was hard) and bought a continue coin. That day was the most fun I had in years.

What I read from the SAB response in the interview is – kittenyou will play how we want you to". He says about the focus of the game being “your relationship with Braham and Rox”.

What if I don’t WANT to have a relationship with Braham and Rox? What the fluffball kittycat happened to CHOICE in this game?

Stuff it. I’m finishing my current character then I’m gone.

Hmm.. relationship with Braham and Rox? Maybe these people didn’t know what they were talking about because it’s mostly Marjory and Kasmeer with the occasional Taimi and Braham. What’s a Rox? This gives me hope that this could just be bad PR.

You are right though. They do seem to be trying to force players to play what they want them to play… it’s like having a restaurant with several dishes then one day deciding to serve only one food.

SAB May Never Come Back?

in Living World

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

So… they want to focus on the Living World but they forget one very important factor. In real life there are millions of different things happening at once. Just because a dragon is attacking doesn’t mean everyone is going to be involved in that. It’s like telling a chef to put bombs in his cakes because a war just started. SAB is a feature, a feature that already exists and it happens to be one that brings many people happiness. It won’t be hard to throw in what already exists inside a feature pack (something totally separate from the Living World already…).

The very fact that it isn’t involved with the rest of the world is all the reason it should be put back in. It can’t be game breaking in any way, shape or form. All that matters is that people love it, those who dislike don’t matter because it doesn’t affect them at all. This is a huge slap in the face to the loyal players that loved SAB and those who paid for continue coins.

SAB was the only update I really enjoyed…. Why the heck is it so hard to put world 1 and 2 back in? It doesn’t need to have a story, just throw it in with a feature pack because its only a feature. They could just say Moto found a way to leave it open when while he works on an update (kinda like GW2 itself) and call it a day. I really wonder how anyone could possibly think that withholding something that is already created and something people love, plus something that will make money, is a good idea.
