[Suggestion] Account Hair Unlocks

But it isn’t temporary.

It’s more about that I don’t mind expanding my account with more stuff. But I would never pay for a one shot hair style kit. For many reasons. Like: what if I don’t like the new style after a while? Should I buy another hair style kit and loose even more money?

But expanding my account with more content? Making it more valuable? It’s worth spending money!

I’ve spend money on few things already. And all of those things are permanent.

That’s the way things are in real life though and in almost all other MMOs. You buy something and you have just that one copy, if you lose it you have to buy another. It seems fair to me. It is hair after all. Imagine if in real life we could save hairstyles and apply them whenever we wanted with the push of a button. If you don’t like the style, you can always change it. Not like your going to change it every day. Though, there is an item you might like. There is an endless hair style kit, but idk if you can get your hands on one anymore. Maybe someday they will re-release it.

Which class for my Asura?

Urgh, I wanted really badly to run Asura Ranger, and even DELETED an 80 to do so… But I’ve just discovered that Greatsword and Longbow CLIPS! -.-

Is there a specific body form I should use, or do you just deal with it?

They don’t clip with the thinner body types. But it might float.

But it isn’t temporary. Once you apply it to the character you can keep it forever.

Personally, I don’t think they should ever have the hair kit styles as an account unlock. I’d like to see, if they ever do a paid expansion, some new appearance options (exclusive to the expansion, not the ones we have now) unlocked with that.

Why do people play anything other than a war?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

There is a simple reason as to why I don’t main a warrior. They are boring and the damage actually isn’t that great. Thief and ele are way better. Thief can pretty much insta kill a lot of things (like the acolytes in CoF P1 for example) and teleport to it’s targets with ease, making it the quickest to start dealing damage in the first place. Ele has a lot of might and fury and if you mix that with shared conjure weapons, it’s far superior. The only reason to use a war for a speed run is for the survivability or buffs exclusive to that class. Though, in my experience it’s always the warrior that dies at melee range and rarely the thief or ele. I never have to worry about surviving as my full glass thief. S/P + healing signet puts warriors to shame.

Engineers back to 'soldier' profession

in Engineer

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

Engineer should be called soldier. Since it’s all bombs, and guns.. and bombs AAAAND more guns. Kinda like real life soldiers (no offense to any rl soldiers). Would be nice if engineer was actually an engineer /cry. Realistically though, they don’t need the extra armor. They already have a ton of survivability through the use of their skills. Engis would benefit from a damage increase or a proper melee weapon more than anything.

Warrior is the hardest class for me to play. Whenever I play warrior I die all the time because it’s so mindless I forget I’m playing a video game. In all seriousness though, while thief may not be the best for unorganized teams it can do 1v1 or be outnumbered and still do fine with the same build. I don’t really find myself running away anymore with zerker D/D stealth and blind build. I can stand right up in the fight, I don’t even have to wait until my health is up to attack because I can just stealth again! Muahahaaa!

Need help with facial customization.

Honestly, I think it looks fine. I can’t really tell which image is supposed to be which but I think if anything is making it look zombie-ish it’s the eyes, a color change or a change in pupil size or eye shape might help. I don’t think the nose needs to be changed, I think it might be too close to the eyes if you did. Something I’ve noticed is most asura have certain angels that make them look ugly. I’ve had asura that looked like evil baby dolls from the side but okay from the front, some that look like goblins in certain lighting and others that are terrifyingly similar to greys. I’m all for more customization though, as long as they don’t increase the slider range. Some asura can end up looking really deformed with the options we have already.

What if Death wasn't an option?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

I was just thinking about this. Either the death penalty needs to be increased or hard core characters need to be introduced. This game is so great but combat feels so cheap because you don’t have ANY penalties. No repair fees, no potions, no chance at losing items, no experience loss and walking back to where you died is just a hop, skip and a jump away. They have the downed state which gives players a chance to cheat death, so why not make death a little more meaningful when it actually happens?

Playing hardcore sounds like it would be fun if you knew people with the right mindset .My only concern is that some people would be too scared to die and there would be too many defensive type characters with selfish intentions that don’t contribute to the survival of their teammates. There wouldn’t be enough DPS and support leaving a lot of room for human error, so the true team players(DPS, healing, buffs, utility) would die.

This content is pretty much exactly what I was hoping to see. Finally some use of jumping and environment. Nearly getting killed by quicksand has got to be one of the best experiences I have had in GW2 (no sarcasm). Then there’s the fact it’s a brand new map and achievements aren’t the only guiding force in storyline. It actually felt like an adventure. I have a feeling this will be a very good year for GW2.

You know what else get’s tiresome? Having nothing to do but fight and kill. MMOs are meant to have more than just kill kill kill everything gameplay. I am glad they tried something different and I hope each LS release has a unique gameplay element like this and at least a little jumping required for gameplay. This is the best Living Story stuff yet… feels like a real game rather than grindfest.

So, I’m at the part in Fallen Hopes where you have to find the 3 clues. I think I found all 3 clues but it’s stuck at 2/3. A guild mate asked if I had done the JP, so I started climbing up something that looked like some sort of JP. I’ve been at this for an hour but when I get to the last jump I just slide off :x and Marjory and Kasmeer mysteriously disappeared. Do I keep climbing or is it bugged? I have a feeling we’ll get to see the Tengu at some point but probably not during the Mordremoth storyline. Scarlet’s army sent them running back behind their gates like a bunch of scared kittens. There will need to be a common interest between them and the other 5 races before them being playable is even a possibility. As it stands they are probably very angry at Sylvari, Asura and Charr thanks to Scarlet.

Guild Wars 2: A Realm Reborn

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

Don’t have particular issues with what you’ve posted OP except for the very last point, about saving the world.

We’ve known about all the dragons since even before launch. We started learning about them in Guild Wars 1. The dragons aren’t going away. The battle with have is with them.

Until they’re gone, the world is in danger.

I’m not sure how Anet could back away from that now, and I’m not sure they should. It’s the same threat we had at launch. We’ve handled one of six elder dragons. There are five to go.

The problem as I see it is.. with this you have a sort of countdown…

1 dragon down… 5 left.

1. Either you kill off the dragons one at a time til None are left…or you do Not progress to kill the 6th dragon.

A. You kill off all the dragons One By one til None are left. What do you do then?

B. You never get to kill the 6th drafgon. How does your player-base feel?

It’s like the Dr Who corner the writers wrote themselves Into….

Only 12 Doctors .. that was the story going back to the 70’s…

Then the 12th doctor dies.

A. End the series.

B. Continue wih a 13th Doctor. But that means retconning all those " Only 12 doctors" storylines so that they make sense with a 13th doctor.." oops we were wrong"?

See what I mean?

What do you do if you kill off the 6th elder dragon? Turns out there was a 7th? an 8th? " oops we were wrong"?

Scarlet comes back to life and somehow becomes the 7th elder dragon? But in all seriousness there could just be fillers in between some of the elder dragon storylines and it could still end on the 6th. They could also have a post-dragon storyline introducing us to bits of GW3, kind of like Eye Of the North from GW1 introduced some things we now see in GW2. Then there’s also the backfire of destroying a force of nature that is known to help control the amount of magic in the world. With so much extra magic it could send Tyria into a sort of dark age where all magic is significantly more powerful and magical creatures (an example would be elementals) are running rampant. There are plenty of other stories they can use it just depends if they are willing to use them.

I am expecting to actually enjoy the new content other than SAB and Zephyr Sanctum for the first time in GW2. When I first started playing I remember looking at the map and being excited because there was so much room to expand but over the months I found myself disappointed as more was destroyed than was added. I’m a little nervous about that attack on the Zephyrites… if Zephyr Sanctum is gone and they don’t replace it with a permanent version located in Maguuma I will be greatly disappointed.

Legendary Pets!?

in Ranger

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

Legendary pets would be a bit much. It would likely be a grind and it wouldn’t be fair for rangers to get something unique to them like this while the other classes get ignored. Perhaps adding some new pets that are harder to obtain would be good though, there are already many creatures already in the game that could have a legendary feel to them such as basilisks and griffons. Maybe they could put the pets in Living Story instances, in JPs and in dungeons to make them a little more interesting to obtain.

Megaservers & trolls

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

When Boss Blitz is active people who don’t move should be killed by a 1-shot attack regardless where they are, with the only way to avoid it being to pay attention and dodge. Also, armor repairs need to cost money again. Or maybe the Crown Pavilion should have bouncers and anyone who isn’t active gets thrown out by the guards. Would be hilarious to watch if it had dialogue and everything.

Something also needs to be done about the megaserver in Heart of the Mists. A lot of that place is set up so people can test builds but now it’s so overcrowded all the targets/NPCs are either being targeted by someone else or already dead. If someone buts in while I’m trying to fight it kind of defeats the purpose of practicing and testing on these NPCs. Either an instance for testing builds needs to be made or the map needs to be expanded and more test dummies and npcs to fight should be added.

[Suggestion] Engineers need more weapons

Aguri.2896

I would like to see some non explosive/firearms for weapons/kits on engi. If the engineer’s influence has traveled to all races, why can’t some of the other races influence engineer by combining their tech with charr tech? At the moment engi feels very limited in what it can do despite it’s versatility, because almost everything is a low-damage hard to aim blowy-uppy thing. Engis are inventors.. they should be able to use anything from a sword to a staff because they can modify it to do what they want. Think of all the possibilities… Also, at least one melee weapon would be nice… it’s difficult to take a wrench seriously.

LFM Only ele war guard

Aguri.2896

Silly warriors. They could have used your ranger specific buffs. I’ve had my thief kicked by 4 warriors before I could even enter the dungeon (party had no class requirement btw)… silly warriors lost DPS. A lot of people don’t seem to realize that A: Bad warriors are still bad, their class isn’t invincible and B: More than 1 warrior is usually a waste dps wise do to the fact they are in the middle for damage and 1 warrior can bring all the damage buffs since it doesn’t stack. And for those saying the survivability they have allows them to do more damage, not true. I’ve played a pure DPS thief and ele and I can tell you in a speed run (heck, even in a group filled with people in defensive gear) it’s not that difficult to survive and dps if you know the path. A lot of rangers do seem to just sit back and use their bow though, even when it’s safe to melee… so nobody really gets to see what they are truly made of. Perhaps if more rangers adopted speed run tactics more people would accept them.

Suggestion: Class change & how it helps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

Now I realize there have probably been many topics on the subject, though I’m not sure anyone else is exploring it the same way I am, so I decided to make a new post anyways. GW2 is unique, all classes can essentially do the same exact things only in varying degrees. Not only does it cause some classes to simply be better than others, it makes it harder to distinguish what sets the classes apart. As it stands, the main reasons to play a certain class are how it feels to play or how it looks, unless you are looking to max a certain thing (like dps for example). This can make it hard to determine which class is right for the player. It’s very frustrating to get all the way to level 80 only to wish you could be a different class. Currently the only way to “change” the profession of a character is to buy a name change contract so you can free up their name and re-make them as a different class, but this is very messy and uncomfortable to do and you lose everything. Sure, you could just make a new character… but you still lose your progress, and won’t get to use the same character.. which is a problem for people who like to stick with just one character. There are many reasons why I think the ability to change profession would be good, and I think it could really help the game.

1. Some people like to bond with a single character.
A surprising amount of people like to play just one character. Building up a sense of identity with one character is important for immersion and socialization (I can’t even count all the times guildies didn’t recognize me because I was playing an alt). Some people who play also don’t have much free time to spend on a new character and would rather just get to WvW, Living Story and such.

2. It would give players something to do once they have finished everything.
Of course, it isn’t fair for someone to level up a thief, unlock all the skills and traits then POOF magically have a fully complete elementalist. Still, I don’t think it’s reasonable to reset their level because that would come with several problems. If they had finished exploring their world map exp would be very difficult to come by and resetting world exploration would be too extreme. This combination would lock players out of content and would make them feel like they really are starting over, so there would be no point to the class change. Resetting traits, utility skills and weapon skills on the other hand would be completely reasonable. They would likely also need new armor and weapons. This would give players the option to progress their character again without starting over or being left out of content and for those who don’t have the time they could simply purchase everything and go off on their way. This could help keep the interest of long-time players and more players is almost always a good thing.

3. Easy money for Anet.
For character changes at the moment we have the hair-style kit (2.50gems), the total-makeover kit (3.50gems) and the name change contract (800gems.) They could sell a class change for 1600 gems or more and I think it would be more than fair considering on what you are getting. There are probably a lot of people who would pay for this, meaning more money for Anet meaning possible more content for us players. It’s a win-win!

Hair, appearance and names are all things that can change throughout a persons life, and so are professions. People are always changing jobs, so I don’t see why it be bad for our characters to be able to as well. Sure there’s the fact the only thing left that wouldn’t be changeable is race, but I think that’s fair. Race is the only thing out of those things that can’t be changed in the real world.

I would love to hear other peoples’ opinions about this and ideas on how a class change could benefit the game, and for those of you who don’t like the idea feel free to share why.

I think many of the exclusive asura faces from the total makeover kit are too doll-like. I can understand maybe having a few doll-like faces, but now it’s just getting out of hand. I’ve been wanting to make my last 3 asura for MONTHS now, but I can’t find any faces or hairstyles I like. The faces make the asura look either too young or too old, and the hairstyles (at least for the males) are too punk-like for many of the character concepts I try to make. The asura are in desperate need of variety right now.

Also, I think the new faces are not cute… uncanny valley is more like it. No offense to the person who made them.

I’ve been playing GW2 for over a year now and have gotten to experience LS1, mostly alone.. and that killed most of the enjoyment I could have gotten from it, and with LS2 around the corner I am looking for some buddies to enjoy it with. I’m a social person, well, I try to be. It’s one of the many reasons I prefer MMOs over all the game types. I have a hard time getting into games when I have to play alone. I’ve posted here once before, but at that time I was in a situation that prevented me from getting to truly be a part of any guild. Now I’m looking for a new home and new friends. I’m very active and like to commit to one guild at a time so I can get to know everyone there, so I’m looking for a guild that is very social with a strong sense of community. I play all game modes and all classes, though my main is a thief and I’m still a noob at PvP. I’m currently in the Tarnished Coast server but I am willing to transfer to any of the other NA servers if you give me a chance to get to know the guild first.

Suggestion: Player Mounts

There are ways to allow the asura to carry things. For one, the asura can make things levitate.. this would allow them to carry the other playable races. Or perhaps they could have the ability to jump inside a golem suit and carry human sized things. Though, while this would be fun I didn’t really see the need for all the races to be able to carry things. Perhaps it could be a norn exclusive, and the other races could each get a unique racial ability.

New Race

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aguri.2896

Aguri.2896

We need new classes instead of new races. Anything besides human has already been a waste of time and resources.

Some people refuse to play humans/norn/sylvari, you know. I was drawn to this game because they actually tried to be different by creating the asura and charr, and the sylvari (even though humanoid) are still pretty cool too. And I still haven’t gotten far in GW1 because I have to play another stinky human. Also, this game should have a new race before a new class, simply because balance issues. I vote for Tengu because they are the most creative concept of the unplayable races and are already set up to potentially be playable. From the concept art I’ve seen they look very colorful, they might even put sylvari colors to shame. And a samurai class to go with would be neat, but it’s probably best to save a new class for later.

Honestly, I want to have the NIS experience of leveling. Goes to 9999, but 100 is more than sane enough to stop at. But if you really want to see “how low can you go”, reincarnate your characters for bonus stats based on how many levels that character has earned over all reincarnations

No, this should not be in a game that was originally advertised as being not grindy. I’ve played an MMO with no level cap that had a rebirth option and you could never stop leveling for even a second if you wanted to keep up.. no hiatuses, no new players… Then came the problem of having god-like characters that face-rolled everything once you got high enough level. This should never be implemented in an MMO. Ever.

The current leveling system is fine as is, perhaps they could just give more value to skill points so we can put those to use… but not for limitless stat progression, just for mats to craft legendary gear or to obtain new skills and things like that.

Again and again I see this argument on how it’s unfair to new players that some people want to only party with 80s, but that’s just not true. It’s completely fair for someone to post up a party that asks for only level 80s. Why? People have the right to party with the kind of people they want; they all have the same expectations and want the same thing. You can’t just barge in to a party that is asking for people interested in something completely different than you and act like they are discriminating against you, because the truth is their party is completely separate from you and the lower level characters because they specifically stated what kind of party it was from the get go. They have the right to kick people who don’t honor that. Now, if they didn’t label the party or jump into a party that isn’t labeled it’s not fair for them to kick people based on a requirement that was not advertised. This does happen a lot and I can see how this is a problem.

Also, another point I want to bring up is that not all newbies are goody-goody like they make themselves out to be. There are nice speed runners, just as there are mean speed runners and the same thing applies to newbies and casuals. A lot of inexperienced players refuse to learn gameplay mechanics and often get offended when someone tries to explain, even if they are explaining nicely. And a good portion of them never respond and continue about their business, holding back the team and sometimes even compromising the run. It is because of those people that refuse to learn the dungeon that I normally try to party with experienced players now. I don’t want to have to talk to them, I don’t want to have to coordinate. I’m there to complete the dungeon, not to argue.

So if this separation between the two communities is going to get any better both sides will have to be more open minded. If you want to be taught, you will be expected to listen and learn. If you are more willing to learn, they will be more willing to teach. It will never be perfect as there will always be those annoying kind of people out there, but both sides need to change just as much as each other.

My friend pointed this out the other day and I definetly don’t remember hearing this song in-game until the most recent living story update. If I remember correctly (could be way way off here) Doesn’t each map have a track associated with it that’s supposed to play before the other tracks start playing? So if that’s the case that would mean IF we are getting Tengu they would likely add this song to be the song that plays initially in Tengu territory.

They need more music like this. Whoever did this song needs to make more. I don’t really like any other songs in GW2 and they never fit the story, ruining the emotional connection with a story for me. This new music made me go from meh to actually feeling something… its what made the story for me and it was wonderful. I could listen to it all day.

I agree. The only difference is slight color variation and very few monsters are exclusive to a region. As they expand things such as the Shiverpeaks and Ascalon it would be nice to see some new region exclusive species and monsters. It would make the world feel bigger and give each area it’s own special feel.

Our technology is ancient

1. Engineers do use magic (new heal skill, clearly more asuran)

There is a difference between conjecture & assumption and fact. As Engineers “shun” magic. I call shenanigans on your statement there.

I should have worded that as magi-tech.

Charr technology has in no way demonstrated that it is capable of such a device. I haven’t seen charr use energy like that to create the blue electricity effect. The closest purely charr device I can think of would be the ghostbore musket. It is most likely a mix of asura and charr technology. It also closely resembles aetherblade tech. Engineer may have started with the charr, but as other races have begun to experiment with it reasonable to think they might add their own touch. So, while I don’t have literal proof to say it’s asura tech I’ve seen holes in lore of many things before so I wouldn’t be surprised even if they did shun magic that this would happen. I tried to look for where you found that engineers shun magic but the only thing I could find about engineer lore was this:

“Engineer technology really developed with the Charr first and foremost. And its one of the specialties developed by the Charr Iron Legion. When we talk about the Engineer he is very much a Combat-Engineer and good in inventing things that are useful in a combat situation. The Iron Legion is the start of all of this, and the Engineer profession has spread to the other races from there. The People of Tyria have seen it in combat over the past few years and have seen the effectiveness of an engineer. And so you are going to see Engineers of all races although it is a little bit more common to see a Charr Engineer than anybody else. So it all started with the Charr and their technological development.”- taken from the GW2 wiki.

All this really says is engineers started a trend that other races took advantage of. So again, it seems reasonable these other races would add to it in their own way because it only started with the charr tech.

Could you post a link to where you found that the engineers shun magic? I always like finding out new things about GW2 lore so I am very curious about it.
