You can no longer obtain the green and yellow weapons skins, however, if you are made of money you can buy the blue weapons from the trading post. Supply is very limited though. Also, I’m not 100% sure how accurate this is because I don’t remember the source, but I think I remember hearing that it will be coming back. Though there are no current plans for it at the moment.
I like the gender neutral look
It is not gender neutral, though.
Gender Neutral =/= Male.
Looks gender neutral to me. Since the asura have small, bottom heavy frames the male armor comes across as neutral…
We’re not talking about their body shapes and frames, we’re talking about the armor/outfits they wear.
A lot of female armor only looks female because it is designed to show off.. things. Things female asura don’t have. You don’t really see much in terms of gender specific accessories and details on armor like some other games have. Really the only notable difference in most armor aside from the fact it is sexualized is that many female armors have skirts and necklace like collars, very few have other accessories like the butterfly on the new armor. Mini-skirts aren’t really armor though… so I think it’s fair to say the male version is closer to gender-neutral armor based on the fact it’s still armor at least. Ties are present on same male light armor, but a lot of respectable women wear ties in real life so I’m not sure if that counts as strictly male these days.
None of that is really important though. It’s not fair to change the style of armor someone’s character wears based on a few people who dislike it, that’s what matters.

This update made me want to play GW1. Seriously, if this is what that game is like than holy crap I’ve been missing out.
I like the gender neutral look

Gender Neutral =/= Male.
Looks gender neutral to me. Since the asura have small, bottom heavy frames the male armor comes across as neutral, unless your one of those super buff asura with the spikey mohawk. Meanwhile, the uh…. mammary window on the female ancestral outfit doesn’t look neutral at all. Perhaps I see it this way because nobody walks around in robes, leather coats, and metal armor in my country so I don’t really know what gender to pair it with unless it has distinct gender specific traits, like the female armor does.
After playing through the awesomeness that was yesterdays’s update, I have faith that we will get Tengu someday. Not because of the book though, because many things that were in today’s update players have asked for time and time again. ANet does listen!

I like asura and charr the way they are. They don’t express gender the same way humans do, so why should we expect them to act like it? If they ever separate armor skins (outfits I can live with) I will either delete all my female asura and charr or change them to male. I like the gender neutral look, it is one of the reasons I appreciate asura and charr so much.
Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean other people don’t. Changing it will probably upset more than it will please because people chose their character for a reason and have gotten used to the way it is. I can understand changing certain outfits because they are just too inappropriate but other than that it should not be touched.
Also, the last asura face is not the same. Set all the sliders to the middle then take screenshots of the two and compare. Those faces look do look alike but more like siblings.
What I love the most is when I open hundreds of ToT bags, which is already lots of clicking, only to have a ton of essence of lucks in my inventory that I have to click. Reward for clicking: more clicking!

I can’t believe I am saying this, but that better be an outfit because I really want that for my guard. Looks like an armor set though… really hope it’s not legendary armor or something.
^the reason he wasn’t standing is cos he was sitting down. text says so. He was resting, not gathering. Blades dull when you hit things like hard shells of alien creatures a lot.
Oh… how did I miss that? Oops.
Hmm… then karka shells also make sense. I really hope it’s not like 250 karka shells or something.

I think the people who mentioned the passion flowers were right, there are a lot of details that point to it.
edit 6:
Lemark sat back against the rocky wall, brackish water rained down from one geyser or another. “What am I even doing here?” he thought for the thousandth time. He was exhausted, bloody and sore. “One of these alien curs is going to kill me before I’m done with this”, he grumbled to himself
Proof of Southsun.
as he stood up and stretched. He needed a drink, but the day hadn’t grown cold yet, he still had time. His resolve hardened, one more attempt, he starred at yet another dulled blade, one more chance for results…this wasn’t going to be fun.
Since he stood up to stretch I would assume he wasn’t standing up prior, so it makes sense that he might be gathering something. The mention of a dull blade with one more “chance” for results also sounds like gathering (like when you only have 1 gathering tool left). Passion flowers have a chance to drop when gathering in Southsun cove, so it all fits.
The question is, how many do we need? I’m guessing 1 since there is no mention of Lemark possessing multiple flowers.

One of the items can a) be bought from a merchant, b) is expensive, c) is “sinister…ghostly” d) “a bit too everyday” e) is “wierd to hold” f) fits into a cylindrical case g) “inspires rage” due to is connection to a people that are sensitive about their heritage. h) is something that Zommoros loves, i) Is something that can be “lost” or taken away.
I’m pretty sure that the ghostly/sinister/weird to hold item is not the same item as the cylindrical item since it was implied the first item had already been obtained, while Lemark was only beginning to try and obtain the second item 2 days later.
Elonian Wine does seem to fit, but then it’s not something that is “everyday”
From a story telling viewpoint it is though. A lot of people drink wine, some drink it every day.
3.5-4 Story continues:
(2 days later)
Lemark sprinted down the alleyway, an endeavor likely to leave one examining refuse closer than generally preferable, but this wasn’t his first time. He slowed for a moment to glance behind him, merchants still chasing with guards closely behind them. He was surprised they hadn’t given up, they must be very sensitive about their heritage here, the item itself was a bit too everyday to inspire this kind of rage. “Two more blocks”, he thought to himself, double-checking the sealed, cylindrical case he carried. His attempted thievery had failed, for today, but he wasn’t going to lose what he had to the muddy waters of the bay.edit 5:
Lemark was in high spirits, it had been a productive week. After a series of failures his luck had turned. He stared at his own reflection in the item, such a trivial thing by itself, but with many, there was power. Zomorros knew it as well, Lemark had seen the desire in his eyes before, this was one of his favorites.
Based on the shape, I would think maybe elonian wine or eldritch scroll but because it says “with many, there was power” I think that rules out the scroll since the recipes we know of only require 1 scroll. I can’t imagine the scroll is very reflective either. The wine fits since it has elonian heritage and is also an every day item and some known recipes do require multiples. It’s also shiny.
Another thing it might be is a mystic coin, though I’m not sure what heritage they have. Coins can be stacked to form a cylindrical shape, so perhaps the case for was the coins?
Something I realized though is that while some of these items may have heritage, their heritage is not that of Lion’s Arch so it doesn’t make sense why everyone would be as angry as they were.

I would love a mini version of the feline familiar from the witches broom if there isn’t one already.
So many things I want to say about this topic but I will keep it short.
-Thief nerfs
-The fact that there is no consistency in skill function from enemies.
Examples: you could back away from a hammer swing but it turns out that hammer swing can still hit you anyways, some enemies have unblockable attacks despite not having unblockable listed when you target them or the fact some projectiles can be reflected but not all.
-The removal of content from the game (SAB, squeeing golem assistant and other things lost to the NPE and the entirety of LS1)
While I do understand some of this stuff is coming back someday I believe it should have never been gone in the first place.
(edited by Aguri.2896)
The wings would need to be a separate back piece probably and that will likely cause people to rage because apparently wings aren’t practical enough. I would love some wings, what’s the point of a cosmetic MMO if there aren’t some cool over the top items?
Also, what they did to the charr version is unacceptable. There is no tail and the head looks broken beyond belief. It would be much better if there were a mask attached to the hood in the shape of the charr’s muzzle or something like that.
Thanks to StinVec for answering my questions.
I decided just to buy it and it looks fine aside from the asura eye bug. One thing that does bother me though is that you can’t turn your camera to see a different angle of your character while mounted. Which is silly because this is a cosmetic item.
I’ve been wanting them to add profile pictures forever. I’m so used to just looking at someone’s picture to tell who’s posting from using other sites but I can’t do that here so I normally don’t look at who the poster is at all unless they quoted me. It’s also hard to tell who are regulars because it’s easier to remember a name when it has a face.
Wasn’t the grenth hood sold closer to Wintersday? Which makes no sense but I seem to remember it… If it doesn’t return for Halloween it might return later in the year or during another sale, a lot of items do so it should come back eventually.
I was getting fed up with the community from my previous game and I had remembered seeing something about GW2 a year before that, so I looked it up and was sold once I watched the asura and charr videos. Art & character design is important to me when choosing a new MMO to play because if I am going to be in a virtual world it might as well be one I like. They tried something different with the races in GW2 and I respected that.
Very nice. Usually when people use that face there’s too much color contrast and it ends up making them look a bit on the undead-side but you choose colors that went well with the face and it looks great . 10/10
Here’s Yukkah, my asura ele. A guy randomly came up to me once and said her eyes were creepy
I want to buy the magic carpet “mount” but I’m a little hesitant because a few days ago I saw an asura riding one and it looked very broken. The asura was standing up in combat and the carpet was shoved into the ground. Since I mostly only play asura and charr this is a problem, does it really look like that or was it just a graphical error?
Also if anyone would like to post a screenshot of an asura or charr riding one it would be very helpful.
This is not the only outfit/armor that screws up charr anatomy so it probably won’t be fixed. The tail isn’t even the worst part either, the head looks incredibly deformed.
(edited by Aguri.2896)
While I still think it’s stupid to have to pay for something that should have remained free in the first place I would still buy it because I think it’s even more ridiculous to never play SAB again just to prove a point in a video game. If anything paying for it would be a good thing and would possibly convince them to develop more SAB if the sales were successful which is worth it to me. I’d say about 800-2000 gems would be fair since it’s a whole game mode.
(edited by Aguri.2896)
I’d rather them just keep adding colors as time goes on (hopefully less neon, color is still okay though) so we don’t have to look at eye poison.
I’ve been wanting new cultural armor for a very long time since it’s the only thing I can stand to put my asura in. Though I think at this point it might be a waste for the devs to go to all the trouble to make an armor only 1/5 of characters can use, assuming the races are all played equally, which we all know they are aren’t. It would make more sense to have no race restrictions so a larger amount of players could use/buy it. The different races are getting more comfortable with each other so they might start to experiment with other cultures anyways. We already have the semi-race specific dungeon armors such as the CoE, CoF and TA armor sets so it’s totally reasonable. That said, asura and charr should get their own models of their respective cultural armor and not the stretched human version like the dungeon armors got (seriously, preview an asura in CoE armor it’s horrifying)
Wow. The outfits are looking better and better each time. Still, I really hope armor sets don’t get ignored even if outfits are super cool.
I hope there is an expansion. If I hear the word expansion from Anet I will have 3x the fun in GW2 pre-expansion, purely from the hype for the upcoming expansion. This is why this kind of thing is important in MMOs. Even if it is not an expansion there have been hints towards new types of content, the kind people have been asking for, so I think it’s safe to say this game will finally get some big updates at least.

Here are some of my favorite screenshots that I’ve taken. I really like the detail that goes into the landscapes of GW2 and it’s sky. I spent a long time never looking at the sky, but now I do and it’s amazing. Sorry they’re all different sizes, I play in a window and sometimes I snag the edges while playing.
I would totally do this. I always wondered this myself.
I will never understand the logic behind removing fun, harmless things from the game. I really do hope there was an exploit. The only “exploit” I can think of was using the tonic then changing back in the second half of AC p3 which did nothing other than un-ghostify you. Which, if it had been like literally all the other tonics and simply couldn’t be used when transformed it wouldn’t have been a problem.
Gyrtag Steamweld doesn’t really sound that good, but it fits charr naming conventions so 9/10
Karalis Gnashclaw and Sarlora Dustpaw sound really good and are very fitting for a charr 10/10
My charr:
Leo Brightblade (M) ranger, iron legion
Caligo Silentstep (F) engineer, ash legion (who says tech can’t be used to be stealthy?)
So today I noticed the golem assistants are gone from the help Doola heart in Metrica. I could handle the dumbing down of maps, I could handle RC golems being gone despite being disappointed by it… but I can NOT handle this! I always looked forward to this heart after creating a new character because I loved the malfunctioning staff and how the golem would squee at my character’s misery. I thought it was hilarious to watch my character suffocating, catching fire and freezing (yeah I know my sense of humor is messed up) and the best part was when it would bug out and leave my character frozen in fetal position and it would stay like that for a few seconds even if I jumped or moved. Please bring back the assistant golems! So many little things that made Tyria feel alive before are now gone thanks to the latest feature pack and it really makes me sad… I want the old GW2 back
I would also like to add that this particular heart is very annoying now, since all the things you can interact with are very far apart.
Below is the very first screenshot I ever took of GW2 and a picture of the golem.

Some of the town clothes tonics do the same thing too, but with the whole body.
Because there are no big announcements and no changes that impact the game in a meaningful way other than the destruction and removal of enjoyable content. One of the thing that gets me hyped about a game is knowing something big is going to be happening, or at least knowing what’s coming. I don’t like being in the dark and it makes it hard for me to want to invest my time in this game if I don’t know what the future holds. When I do get excited it doesn’t last because I don’t know how much content is staying. It’s like being a child excited for Christmas, only it’s hard to be excited when your presents are going to be taken away a few weeks later. It’s also hard to be excited about the type of things that are released… they never make an impact on the game unless it’s the destruction of something (the leveling experience and personal story for example). I would like to see meaningful change and growth, like new weapons instead of things like one new heal skill per profession…
Also, I think the reason ANet isn’t trying to hype people up is because they have pulled back on their promises (craft able precusors, various release dates) and also generated negative hype via the announcement of ascended gear and are now afraid of the hate that may follow any major change or announcement.

I said already more than once .. i really miss LS1 .. and i think LS2 is much worse since
i have absolutely no interest in replaying any of these instance so i don’t care really
if its replayable
New players do care. Without new players this game has no future because most people aren’t going to stick around long term. It’s ridiculous that they can’t play the past content. Also, for those of us really hardcore players that do stick around long term we might want to be able to replay content because it can be fun. Why take away something that already exists? It doesn’t make it more enjoyable it makes it less because it’s just going to disappear and leave very little impact on the world.
Just because you have no use for it doesn’t mean other people don’t.

SAB does not fit in with our war with Mordremoth. So we will be fighting parallel worlds in the mists instead and then we will go trick or treating.
If classes limited armors that would limit the customization possibilities for the player. For example, as engineer you would only have 1/3 of the medium armor sets we have now and they would likely mostly be tech themed. Makes my character feel less like my character. What’s so bad about diversity?
What needs to be toned down more than anything are particle effects. If there are more than a few players around it can get so cluttered it is hard to tell who is using what depending on the classes and can make it hard to see dodge ques.
A few issues with that video,
First it is kind of misleading, but at the end where they show all the bosses, where does the fight with that risen giant in an asura lab take place?
Crucible of Eternity story mode I think.
But dang… that trailer and those statues. How come we didn’t get any of that cool stuff over here?
we were a test audience.
They’re using what they learned from us to make the game appeal much more to our fellow gamers in China.
for good reason too. they have blade and soul to compete with over there.
Yet another thing we don’t have over here. : (
Seriously though, NA and EU need some attention. Feels like were always in the dark over here. Putting some of those items up in an online store, even with limited supply, would maybe make some money and make the game feel a little less ignored for us NA and EU folk.
Also, if a boxed expansion is ever released it would be awesome for there to be a collectors edition available that came with some of these cool statues. Just a thought…

And herein lies the problem. This is what Anet is dealing with all the time. Here’s our consensus thus far. With 18 responses, only two items got more than one vote and those 2 items only got 2 each.
More profession/racial skills. 2 votes.
Fix the trait system. 2 votesThe rest got 1 each.
Mounts
Dueling
Enemy Cast Bar
Customizable UI

Coyote pet for Rangers
Jumping Puzzles
Return Our Feet

Dungeon Overhaul

Guild Vs Guild
FunAdmittedly some of these are said flippantly but the real answer is this community is deeply divided and no matter what Anet does, one group or another is going to feel disenfranchised.
And there’s no game developer in the world that can do all of this at the same time, so people will continue to feel disenfranchised.
People probably won’t feel disenfranchised by this though. The idea of this thread was to post only the thing you wanted most, right? This limits people to only choosing one of the things they want to be added to the game, that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t want some or most of these other things as well. I know I would be thrilled about all the things on that list, even the coyote pet for ranger even though I do not play the class that often.
It’s also okay for the devs to take their time adding features, if everything was added at once where would the fun be in that? There would be nothing left to look forward to. MMOs are meant to grow and evolve, and yes sometimes they end up getting new features that make the game feel different than it did before, but is that always a bad thing? Many things on this list will not effect core gameplay and likely wont make an impact on those who don’t want them. The only problem I can see might be sub-classes, as that would require a lot of balancing and would likely drastically alter the combat system.
I want new skills and weapons for professions but will I get mad if a new race is introduced before? Heck no, I’d immediately start coming up with names for a new character.
Just before the patch, I found a team to try tpvp with, they don’t want thief anymore.
That sort of happened to me as well, only I didn’t even get the chance to play it. The team I was on had a thief until the patch hit, then he went to play a different class so I took this chance and asked if I could play thief, the class I am most experienced with, and it was a no because “thieves are dropping out of the meta”. Sure we were going to be playing in the ToG but this was from a group of semi-casual non-elitists. Really upsets me because I have put a lot of effort into thief and ended up with nothing to show for it.
I recently changed my main back to a thief because I thought I missed it…. but now I don’t want to play anymore. I’m afraid to do tpvp or spvp now because I know I’m not welcome anywhere.
This is very much needed. Would make playing a shortbow thief much more fluid.
If they can make dungeons they have the technology to fix LA.
Sure they can. We have the technology now to put a manned outpost on the moon too but it’s not worth the cost involved in doing so.
No one said it can’t be done. But if it is a major undertaking, that means that it would take people away from other projects. If you’re new to the forums, you may not have noticed that everyone wants more content.
That doesn’t come under that category. That comes under the category of improving old content.
I’m guessing the cost/time to fix this issue would set back other plans.
How hard can it be to paste an already existing map into the game? Unless each individual map has some sort of ID or something tied to it that prevents the new Lion’s Arch from co-existing with the old one, I don’t see why it would be that difficult. Continuity is important for story and story seems to be important for this game. They took the time to re-do the trading post and hero’s tab, neither of which needed to be changed except for maybe the option to look for class specific armor, so why is this a problem?
They also need to do something about the other areas of the game that have been altered due to story, something that is really confusing if you aren’t there yet in the story. I realize that they probably don’t have the technology to fix the open maps for certain players as we haven’t seen an example of it in the game but it’s important too.
At the moment time is all messed up in the story. I don’t want to bash the game or the devs, but this lack of continuity breaks immersion and makes the game look sloppy.
It’s not a matter of pasting it into the game. It doesn’t work that way at all. When you enter an instance, you’re entering the world. It’s designed that way. To have it not default to the world requires programming. How hard would it be? Anet has already said, straight out, that they’re talking about what they can do, but that it would take a lot of work. The question was already brought up.
How hard can it be. Very, depending on how its set up now. Ask any programmer how hard stuff like that can be.
Even if it takes time and resources it is something they should iron out before there are more inconsistencies to deal with from growing LS. It’s no less important than the other feature pack stuff we have gotten and should get attention.
Since I don’t know what else is being worked on, I really don’t know how I could prioritize the work flow.
It could well be that the issue is so complex, it might take months. Is it important enough to take a team of guys to fix for most people? That I’m not so sure about. Without knowing the complexity of the fix required, and why it’s complex, I can’t try and dictate a company’s priority list. It’s like back seat driving while you’re not even in the car.
If they continue to destroy and alter things the world will become more and more disjointed and the story will make less and less sense. It’s important to fix this problem if a living, breathing world with a story that leaves player feeling involved is their goal. The reason I am saying it should be a priority is because it’s better to find a fix now before they have more broken instances, assuming they are planning on breaking more things and based on the recent Living Story I am going to assume they are. Especially if it is taking away from their goal for this game. Immersion is key in a living world and these inconsistencies are threatening that immersion.
Yes, I do want more content but at this point I realize the game is going to be needing a lot of polishing and that seems to be what feature packs have been focused around so there’s no escaping it. Why not work it into a feature pack? I’m no programmer but I can’t understand why it’s okay to completely re-do the trading post and hero tab and not this. Especially when those changes were as unnecessary as they are. I love GW2 but I hate seeing parts of it die… was so good at first but now it’s a bit of a mess with the UI changes and living story confusion not to mention the NPE…

If they can make dungeons they have the technology to fix LA.
This is a great idea. This would be an excellent way to give players a strong sense of progression after reaching level 80 without negating the usefulness of their level 80 gear. It would also give people something else to do between updates, assuming they have more than one character, which is always good. I officially want this more than Tengu now.
I don’t see what’s wrong with mounts aside from the image of a norn or charr riding one. GW2 could have some really neat and unique mounts, like golems for asura and a motorcycle like thing for a charr, maybe even small tanks. There’s already no death penalty (WPing doesn’t count, if you can’t afford 1 silver then you need to stop spending all your money) and an absurd amount of waypoints, it’s not like it will be too convenient or anything. Just disable them in WvW and PvP. Won’t trivialize jumping puzzles if they can’t fly, any norn or charr player knows that.
