Wooh! Welcome back mate
I’m on YB so let’s duel some time!
A SoS engi messaged me saying “Can’t solo kitten?” because apparently a 1v3 against his mates was a fair fight for a thief… And when 2 of my other party members came to kill them, he then proceeded to ask his guild to message me for him after I’d blocked him…
Amazes me.
Just to make his life a lot easier,
@Xhean and @kayro:
Here is his 2/0/0/6/6 build found in the comments of his first post patch video:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQNAV8Yl0Mp0pdPxwJ8PNBNB5dY+SZ0KAdfk+2EA-TlCFABHqaDEXAgS2fotHAAAHBgCVT4KlgCcQAQS5RSKxIFQELjA-w
As far as his other trait builds go,
2/0/6/0/6:
DA – III
SA – IV, VI, XI
Trick – V, VII, XII
3/2/0/3/6:
DA – III
CS – either I, II, III, VI (all seem pretty useful to me)
Acro – either II, III, IV, VI (")
Trick – V, VII, XII
How anet would fix it:
Game Update Notes – Some day, Some year
Release notes:
Thief
- Fixed a bug where Assassin’s Equilibrium was not activating after certain forms of stealth attacks.
Ahahahahaha I laughed more than I should have
I swore that I’d never EVER touch p/d. But holy crap this actually looks so much fun…
in the upcoming patch
When’s the next patch?
Hopefully this is actually true. It’s probably the ONLY way for anet to see us… Oh wait a decrease in thieves? I’m just contradicting myself… How can they see us if we’re extinct.
+1
Just want to make this visible. Won’t do anything but hey is there room for 1 more on the ‘I am quitting this game’ train?
Thanks for the input guys! Much appreciated
Probably a noob question but, I was just wondering if it would be cheaper just to buy all the ingredients for a legendary rather than buying it with gold. I’m aiming for a twilight if that makes any difference.
There were some really nice plays, thanks for sharing!
That try-hard though… lmao…
Thanks for the input FZeroWing! Will keep that in mind
Thanks for the response! Much appreciated
Currently in Yaks Bend, thinking of moving up a tier for WvW. Just wondering what the scene is like over there. Cheers in advance!
Oh great. Another post by some by a complainer. Well done OP.
OP, pro tip for you: Don’t stand in the little red circle. Geez
Any more tips?
I feel like removing the ability to stealth will completely ruin the weapon set, and I don’t really want that. What if the following is done:
1: Black Powder’s blinding shot is removed, and only puts the smoke field down
2:Shadow Shot: blind replaced with a cripple
I believe that something like this might make D/P thieves much easier to deal with.
+1
I had exactly that in mind but thought of vulnerability/weakness instead of cripple. But that works too.
Hi there Zacchary. As a returning player, I’ve been stalking the thief forums ever since. I sometimes find myself spending quite a lot of time just scanning the forums here and learning more and more everyday. I’ve come across a lot of your comments, posts etc and imho, I think you’re fair, honest and unique. Thank you for keeping this profession alive. I know I probably don’t have a say as I’m pretty much new (still re-learning everything again) but on behalf of the thief community who agree with me, I applaud you mate!
Oh man, now I really want a super pistol :O Great video btw! Seems like a really fun build.
What: Movement
Why: Thieves shouldn’t be allowed to move while in combat. It is 100% impossible for anyone to even touch a thief while duelling. They already have stealth so cutting off their ability to move would balance everything.
Please make a thief-only guild, having us all wear that! I’ll gladly join
You and nightblade would be unstoppable
The second build looks really nice! But I agree with you there, I would rather have the air sigil than an extra 1k health. The extra burst is just too good to give up. It doesn’t matter anyway because applied fortitude stacks and world bonuses would bring it to at least 16k+. This was a nice discussion, I’ll be sure to message you in-game sometime and see if we could make this build viable
Tbh, investing the 2 points into DA and getting the mug trait is definitely much more rewarding. you lose 1k health, but with 2.7k armour and the added 100 power together with good knowledge of matchups, this build could be deadly
If you really really really want more health, then by all means go for it! I would use power of inertia though instead of descent of shadows for the reason I said before, which was to compensate the lack of power.
@SlitheSlivier His build is on every outnumbered video. Here, I’ll save you some time:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQJAoYlsMp0pdPxyJ8PNBNBtdFGeI4uGrYGaFAA-TFSBABJqH4hHAgZKBvSpXXKDIa/hcU/BgTAApAsaZE-w
This is definitely an interesting build. I wish I had the gold to try something like this though! I’m no thief guru but I would swap out the side strike trait for signets of power and invest 2 points into DA to compensate the lack of power. I don’t think you’d need the extra 7% from side strike as you already have 100%. You could probably take out the accuracy sigil and slot in force/air and keep side strike if you want, while still keeping 100% crit chance if you can position yourself well. Anyways that’s my take on this, I will definitely keep this in mind though
Wow. You sure know how to make your fights look epic…
That was really fun to watch! Loved the intro
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ANOTHER VIDEO!
1. Maybe your next video could be a commentary outnumbered video? See what it’s like
2. Solo roaming (that’s just my preference, others could differ)
3. More tips and tricks
4. Can I have your autograph?
I’m not trying to be mean here, but I highly recommend you to attempt to read ATLEAST 2-4 pages of this forum before the next time you post. I’m 100% certain there’s at least 3-4 posts within 3 pages about your topic.
I don’t remember the exact name, google thief gw2 fave, he has a good vid “art of thief” or something like that with 3 wep sets/builds and very nice gameplay. It’s quite recent too, May/June I believe.
thank me later
I’ve literally been checking these forums daily just for another one of your vids! Helped a lot, especially the more advanced tricks
You have my vote for more training videos and outnumbered ones too
Nice video! P/D seems fun in a power build, although imho, I feel like it’s still a little cheesy in duels. Nevertheless, I appreciate your effort in posting this video! Also, I like your song choice but I was really hoping you could have done a slow-mo stomp with a cool finisher when tsunami was dropping :P
Just tried this and unfortunately you either pull them to your original location/go out of range/ or awkwardly damage them without them being pulled. Would be a pretty sick combo though!
Don’t worry mate, I feel your pain too. I play from Australia and most of the time, trying to land a CnD is so frustrating. And SB #5 is pretty much useless for me… Or I’m probably bad at judging the range haha
I’m no thief pro but, you can combo skills like Black powder (pistol off-hand) and leap finishers (Heartseeker – dagger main hand) or Blackpowder/Smoke screen + Heartseeker/Cluster Bomb (short bow) in order to get into stealth. With the right traits (I think it’s Shadow Arts + Trickery), you can spam them and get up to around 8-10 second stealth I believe? I’m sure someone can correct me. Also, shadow refuge grants stealth for around 15 seconds.
Cheers for the info, I’m learning so much stuff everyday!
Fellow Aussie here! I actually didn’t mind the music, as it made the duels seem more epic! I personally, barely touch PvP, but you make it seem like fun
we need someone to stop posts like these wasting time and space on our thief forum
oh the hypocrisy.
I second Quakeman here! I’ve liked all your videos and subscribed. Hopefully you’ll be doing more
And I never knew you could shadowstep during a HS animation?! Thief Mechanics are awesome.
You champ! Thanks so much
Thanks for all the responses guys! Much Appreciated
So after watching this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQi_9NigzC4 , are strength runes still worth getting? The 4 set bonus has 5 second might duration instead of 10 and the 6 set bonus has the percentage damage reduced to 5% from 7%. I’m just trying to figure out my final build and I just want to know more opinions from other thieves. If you want to know, I like to play either d/d or d/p.
Assming that both players are of equal level, the DD power will always beat a P/D player. P/D is a very slow weapon set and requires constant small bursts of damage and condition application – its quite a nuisance and unless the opponent stays around you wont be killing anyone.
D/D on the other hand relies on a quick and easy backstab auto heartseeker and usually just continously playing with the burst and you should drop the opponent fairly quickly.
i’d go for D/P though, much nicer then D/D
Do NOT listen to this clown.
Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha this guy again! I was wondering when his usual thief QQ was going to pop up
Noob question here, but I’ve been looking at every d/d and d/p build, and I just can’t understand why the mug trait is more preferable for d/d and the fleet shadow trait for d/p. I really enjoy playing d/d but I just hate being slow… I can understand why using traveller runes, SoS etc aren’t useful in the long run dps-wise, but I feel like I’m just waving my daggers like a clown while other professions just run away laughing.
It’s thieves like you who really make me love this profession
Thanks for the video and sharing your build!
Hi there mate! This is a build I used to use: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQJAoYlsMp8pNPx7J0PNRTBx9AmcA8uEvoFdlAA-TFSAABKqDIHtASfCAET5HAPAAkU/pn9HaTJIpAmUaE-w
It’s the not greatest build but I sure did have a lot of fun with it in WvW! It’s a 0/0/6/2/6 build but feel free to adjust it to your liking. I wouldn’t recommend getting mug in deadly arts because I’d rather spend the two points in either acro or trickery which provides a little bit more tankiness and a more useful trait. As far as PvE goes however, I don’t think I can help you with that because I barely have any experience. Anyways, hoped this helped,
Cheers!
