I stop when the scoreboard comes up. When someone attacks me then, I either ignore it or when I’m on my Necro put up my Deathshroud
How and where exactly is Magic Find applied?
Every Box on the Reward Tracks?
What about containers in those boxes?
Is it applied when received or when opened?
Are MF boosters & food taken into account?
Here’s another one, that might not be obvious to new players (yes, I just ran into this):
On Spirit Watch, don’t all get caught up in fighting over the orb, when you have no points capped.
The lags and disconnects were happening every few minutes on Friday. Saturday and Sunday were much better. Sunday evening it started again, now it’s Monday and again with the disconnects. Here’s the most recent tracert.
09:35 Frankfurt time, Map: Skyhammer
For me it’s the constant 4v5. That takes the fun out of it.
When it’s full teams, I’m having fun. Experienced players or not.
Are you sure you’ve used the new “PvP build” menu to re-setup everything after the patch?
Otherwise I have no clue. There’s no “better” gear in PvP, that hasn’t changed.
As to the reason for the change, I think it was mostly to lower the entry barrier for the PvE players, who want to keep their looks.
So… can we get an Unranked Q? Please? I’ll send cookies.
I followed a couple suggestions here. Watched videos. Slow-motioned some of those to see the combos. Went D/D.
Still downed a lot, however I kill a lot too And most of all – D/D is really fun!
I’ll go back practicing and trying builds now – I’m sure I’ll have more questions soon
Same here. I rolled an Ele this week, ‘cause really it’s the only class left, that I find really interesting.
However I seem only to be able to either do fantastic damage, but be downed the moment someone looks at me, or go full-heal and troll 3 people for a while, but do no damage at all.
Also: The more recent builds I find seem to use dagger and raw power, which mystifies me. How do you not die instantly when you have to get so close to the opponent? Thieves have stealth and evades for such situations…
Is there no way to do all-right damage and survive a while longer?
I find it hard to judge the situation by minimap, when there’s more than one Mesmer on the opposing team…
I want to know what builds those NPCs use… ^^
I just pretty much asked that same thing a short while ago, see here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/When-to-leave-close
Yes. Please. Currently Hotjoin is trying to fill these needs:
- People trying to learn sPVP
- People who want to try new builds
- People who like the game mode (quick, capping-not-so-important, more fighting, can pop-in and out)
And I think that just doesn’t work, when they come together only one group at most will enjoy the match very much. An Unranked Q would be so much better for the first two groups. While Hotjoin is perfect for the third group.
Or you know… don’t tie break. If both get 500 they both deserve to get the rewards.
The problem isn’t entirely the toxicity of some members, because this exists in every single competitive game scenario.
I’ve seen this come up over and over again as some kind of justification. Just because this happens in other games, can’t we try to be better than them?
So I wondered if it was just me or if you are experiencing this also? Ever since the feature build I have a terrible experience in sPvP. Lag, rubber-banding, non-responsive skills, disconnects.
I’ve posted in the sticky with the tracert. But that was just one time where I could get the ip. It’s happening about every 30 minutes for me.
(I have no other problems with my Internet connection.)
Definitely. I hit “Play now” earlier and was immediately kicked. I didn’t even see, what kind of server it was.
Don’t get drawn into meaningless fights somewhere on the map – try to only fight on points.
Is there a workable build for this after the feature patch?
Ever since the feature build, I am experiencing extreme lag, rubber-banding, several disconnects. Most recently just now:
23:25 Frankfurt time, Map: Foefire
So… now that the big feature build is out of the way – when can we expect the patch that deals with 4v5 to arrive?
This is getting old really fast…
Alberto, after you right click the name and select “report” you again have to type the name. I tried. Or do I miss something?
Hmm, not here. After Report I get the question for the reason, but the name is already filled out.
Second, most of them had in their names letters that I don’t have on my keyboard.
Eyia, when you have targetted them you can right click their name on top of the screen and select Report. Or bring up the Scoreboard and right click on the name there.
Yes, sorry, I mistyped, I meant why more points for Team compared to Solo? I know that’s the case right now. I’m just not really sure why (if we assume both Queues would work with this change, which currently is debatable.)
1-5 for joining sounds good for Unrated Q!
Bumping this… It’s almost upon us. Take a look at your colors, if you haven’t yet…
I used up my remaining Glory today and got around 300 Tokens to make dyes. Now I still have a lot of mats left.
Yeah, I suspect they’ll go poof poof.
Sounds good overall, would be a huge improvement. A few thoughts:
- Why more points for Solo compared to Team?
- Unrated Queue: When you say 1-5 party members, you mean dedicated servers for for example 3v3? ’cause 4v5 would still be no fun in any scenario…
Good luck Allie. Hope you enjoy the new place!
Hmm, I’m not really seeing many group fights though.
It’s mostly 2 zergs running from point to point, trying to avoid each other. The only “fighting” is when 1 or 2 people split off and get destroyed when they run into the zerg.
Since I want to try out new builds, I have done several hotjoin games again. Almost every match turns into zerg-runs-from-point-to-point (and I only join 5-player-maps).
Is this really fun for some of you? I don’t get it.

Hopefully it’ll be coming up in the next 3 parts of the Feature Pack
No.

Since the feature build is expected to bring new players in, will it offer more in-game explanations for them? Like for example, that it is not okay to leave a non-Hotjoin-match?
Thanks all, those are some very good pointers. I’ll try to keep them in mind when I play next.
@bhagwad: Wow, that’s a nice comprehensive overview. Thank you!

This is something I’m still struggling with. When I’m the one capping and holding close three things tend to happen:
- Somebody from the other team comes by frequently and trys to decap/cap. I feel I’m doing my job.
- Nobody ever comes. If I stay at close it stays capped, but I’m not helping my team elsewhere.
- I leave to help the team, when I see them struggle. But it seems almost always, close is then decapped/capped in what seems like a matter of seconds.
So… the last two points are the problem obviously. One leads to “Why you afk @close noob!”, the other to “Why you not stay at close noob!”
All of this either Solo Q or PUG team. I realize that with TS communication things run smoother.
Any advice?
It is risky, good chance you’ll end up with only more powder from salvaging the T2s. You might wanna do the math and see how much you can probably get by buying Consumable Tokens and making dyes to sell them all.
We agree. There were some PvP-only changes for professions that made sense in a previous meta, but not so much now. I expect we’ll be looking very closely at some of these skills over the next few weeks.
Do we have any info if this is in the feature build?
I just thought of this… When the feature build hits, we’ll be in our PvE armor and can then proceed to reapply our PvP skins.
However, I suspect that the colors / dyes will be reset (or set to whatever the physical item has). So it might be a good idea to note down your current color scheme now, if you care about such things.
Thanks Justin. I am glad to hear that there is a change on the horizon, even if it will take a bit longer then the others.
The next few feature blog posts are titled “Facilitating Friendly Play.”
I really, really hope one of these will address this issue.
Yes. I would be also be interested to know how/if afk-reports are dealt with.
In what way exactly is a Spirit ranger “toxic”? I’m not trying to defend, I just really don’t know. In what ways are the Spirits that different from a Guardian giving boons to his team or a warrior using Banners?
If you had to choose one, would you prefer RANKED Solo Arena, or UNRANKED Team Arena?
Unranked Team.
I don’t see much point in the Solo Leaderboard. Since you (obviously) get teamed with randoms, IMO there’s no way to accurately measure a single player’s skill in a game mode, that by definition requires a team.
Unranked Team would let you practice builds, classes, strategies for groups-of-people who want to play together, or on your own. Once refined, you can take these into Ranked Team.
It just happened again.
As before all sounds stop, except for the background music. What I noticed this time is that this started happening in Kyhlo. And when that match was over, the Kyhlo background music kept playing.
Umm… show me a custom arena that is not empty (and non-duel/farm)?
I know it has been suggested a few times before. It’s just that I have become very aware of this missing option today.
I want to try out a class I haven’t played before. So I’ve made the build and go into Hotjoin… Which turns out to be completely useless for me. Most games are 4v5 at best and Zergfests. There’s just no way I can try out what I want to try out with that.
I could go into Solo Q, but that would be really unfair to my team mates, since I don’t have much of a clue with this class.
Can we please get an unranked Queue?
So, I’ve seen a few mentions of having to be able to easily / consistently win 1v2. I can’t do that.
Now it’s quite likely I’m just that bad. But on the tiny chance that it’s the class I’m most often running (Ranger), my question is what build are you running that can consistently win 1v2?
What? I thought any low skill & high reward build is called a “cheese” build.
Yeah so no post about it ofcourse, as expected
Yes, there was a post:
