Same here. Won a match yesterday. No pip. No record in Game history. No change today.
Will we get these pips refunded?
Locking professions upon queuing gets us a couple things: Profession stacking can be completely controlled via the matchmaker, and we can start using profession MMR again which should make much more accurate matches than just using account-wide MMR.
I’d say, let’s try it out. Isn’t that why we have this time between seasons – to try stuff like that? If it works out, great. If it doesn’t, revert before S2.
A Huge Premise of Guild Wars 2 was that there would never be a Dedicated Healing Class.
You must be thinking base game. The rules changed with HoT. Here’s part of the Druid’s description from the HoT page:
Avatar abilities are on very short cooldowns and transform the ranger into a healing powerhouse, pushing the upper bounds of sustainability and recovery; in celestial avatar form a druid becomes capable of bringing a party on the brink of death back to pristine condition.

Sounds like a healer to me…
Please allow us to use our pips in the Mystic Forge.
4 pips go in, out come:
- high chance: 1 pip returned
- low chance: 2 tiers worth of pips returned
- very low chance: enough pips to get to the next division returned
I feel this would be a much more accurate representation of player skill, than the currently implemented system.
I think, he means no duplicate classes…
That would increase Queue time too much. What I don’t understand though, is why the system doesn’t try to balance the classes better across the two teams.
If u die to ranger pet, u have serious gameplay issues… It’s almost worst ai in the game, only cliffs are worse…. Please learn to move my dear beginners
Cliffs OP. Nerf cliffs.
Agreed. Or just change the map to win at 350. Same thing.
What build are you searching for? Efficient one? One that can solo fractals (I soloed lvl 72)? A DPS one?
What would a solo build look like?
This is because forfeits (not losing points with teammate disconnects) are effectively disabled while we fix the dishonor false positives that were happening much more frequently than actual disconnects.
Will the pips we lost because of this, be refunded after the fix?
I understand your view but my take is that to be “Legendary” at pvp a player should be able to play more than 1 class well.
If this was a solo game, I would agree. But here the person who tries to get the achievement and ends up playing the profession badly, screws over his 4 team mates.
Yes, this. Can this achievement please be changed for Season 2?
It is very disruptive to have someone on your team, who clearly has no idea how to play his profession, just because he needs this achievement .
Next, people are going to flame the MMR calculation versus the performance of their teammates.
MMR is not part of the win probability. At least, not currently.
I lost a pip for this match. How can the system assume blue is more than 40% likely to win when
- The other team had one more person in the higher division.
- There was a party of 2 on the other team.
- MMR is not taken into account for pip loss.
?
Every time I lost 2 pips, it was because the other team had a low-division player. Then it seems to be a huge weight. But apparently not always. Do different divisions get different weights?
I would like to report Matchmaking.
It clearly violates these Rules of Conduct:
- 1. While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players…
- 22. …Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder.
Please ban Matchmaking. Thank you.
You can deal with condi reaper very easily as they have constant application of very few conditions, …
I’m struggling with Reaper condis. In teamfights I usually get loaded with condis due to Corrupt Boon and Plague Signet. And if there are two Necros, gg.
Ruby here and times are about 2 – 5 minutes. No problem with that.
Yes. I think increasing it to the same level as Ladder weight would be enough.
It’s possible that they were in a party with one of the diamonds, then left the party via the chat command in order to not be told that he was abusing the mmr.
… just when I thought this couldn’t get any lower.
Just had another one of those. A change in Roster weight would really help…
Not fixed. Just lost a pip in a 4v5. Everyone was a solo-player.
I am not talking about that. I am talking about the part where you said they told you to report MMR tankers for botting or LFG abuse.
Botting. Here’s the most recent post:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/A-Message-from-the-PvP-Team/first#post5827217
For me, one of the most frustrating parts of the current league is pre-mades with a few low-division players thrown in. The problem is not so much the almost guaranteed lost game, but that you lose 2 pips on top of that.
Why is that? I just took another look at the Wiki:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Matchmaking_Algorithm#Match_Prediction
I looked at a recent game of mine and ran the numbers. Unfortunately I had to make a few assumptions. I don’t know how Ladder is calculated. Are all Rubys the same? Is it per tier? Does every pip count?
Anyway, if my numbers are somewhat correct, the algorithm decided my team should have won the match with an almost 70% chance. And at 70% win chance, losing the game with less than 300 points means 2 pips lost.
If the other team had been all mid-Rubys, instead of a mix of divisions, the chance would have dropped significantly and only 1 pip would have been lost.
So, let’s take a look at the configuration and see, if something can be changed without programming effort:
Ladder weight=“5“
Rank weight=”1"
Rating weight=“0”
Roster weight=“2”
So what happens if we change the Roster weight to 5? In my example that drops the win chance from 70% to 52%. Only 1 pip lost.
Disclaimer: I might have misunderstood some parts and had to work on assumptions, so the numbers might be off. However my question remains:
Would changing the Roster weight in the configuration help in these cases, where the pip loss seems very unfair?
BTW none of this would affect the Matchmaking, the Match Prediction is configured separately.
tl;dr Would changing the Roster weight in the Match Prediction prevent double pip losses against multiple-division-pre-mades?
Yes, just had the same thing. Wrecked by full pre-made. Lost 2 pips, because they had lower-division-players. What fun.
Isn’t this the same question as this? If so, it was answered here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3vocj9/psa_the_pvp_legendary_backpack_does_not_require/
Set target self to a mouse button for healing fields
Huh? Is there a keybinding for “target self”? I’ve never seen that one. What is it called?
and he says hes a student so he doesn’t have a lot of time to play.
… Good one.
This is where the pseudo code gets vague. ratingLow is not defined on this page.
However, I just found this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/delete-31/first#post5032689
The pseudo code you’re linking is for “Match Prediction” (predict the outcome of a match).
The pseudo code for Matchmaking has no weight=“0”.

I actually don’t mind if people don’t chat, if they read at least. But if all chat and even all map-pinging is ignored… that’s usually an immediate lost game.
Here are the official Rules of Conduct:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/
I think the two points that address your question are these:
This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.
What causes distress is obviously a very subjective thing, but if you feel this to be true for you, I would report without hesitation.
Same goes for any afk.
However I would not suggest you turn off chat. This prevents the other 4 players in your team communicating with you and disrupts their game.
Report & Block.
No offense man, but nobody cares. Unless you’re trying to come here and give tips to people, your post just looks like bragging.
Oh, come on, be nice to the guy… I for one am glad to see a happy post these days. He deserves to be proud if he did it without exploiting the system. And it is always good to see, you can get this far on the much-nerfed Ranger.
Gratz.
How is your build different from ROM’s besides the soldier?
This rune says “Gain +500 healing power for 3 seconds after casting a glyph.” So – if I use my Glyph of Rejuvenation, does this heal gain the +500 or would it be the next heal?
Why? Because that would lead to griefing.
In the olden days rank was shown and it led to people blaming the low-rank “noob” for their own mistakes.
What I would like to see though, is my own MMR.
I’ve reached the final boss battle and for the last several hours tried to get through it.
I’m finally convinced this is in fact buggy… For the AOE-attack most of the time the glider doesn’t open.
I’ve managed to get it to do that twice and then in the next stage a rift is off the cliff. I can’t get to it. Gliding goes through it, can’t get an updraft.
I’ve just watched a youtube video and see gliding all over. Doesn’t happen for me.
Very frustrating unfortunately.
EDIT: I just tried again. This time it worked flawlessly. Gliding was no problem. No rifts off the cliff. I was able to end the story. No clue, what might trigger the bugs.

Thanks. I’ll try to refrain from jumping right into the middle of the fight.
Also for now I’ve slotted a Sigil of Generosity. That seems to help.
And again…
Terrible lag and a DC while in Unranked Arena (Silent Storm).

When Courtyard comes up in Unranked, I’m rather lost… I think it would be helpful if I could get a better look & feel of the map in Hotjoin.
Is there a reason it’s not on any of the Areanet Practice Servers?
Smiting a 2 second bleed is a waste.
Very true… I find it hard to find the time to look at the actual duration of the condis.
Still, versus some professions teamed up, you’re going to die.
Just seems that these team-ups suddenly happen more frequently.
I tend to shift around the outside of the fight and track people that also hang around the edge which would usually be the Mesmer or the Necro.
Thanks. Sticking to the sides is something I haven’t tried with this build. Good idea.
I’m running this, just with Sword instead of Scepter:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Guardian_-_Meditation_DPS_Variant
I play a standard Medi Guardian in PVP and lately I get melted in team fights when two Mesmers and a Necro (or the other way around) are involved. This is more than I can cleanse or outheal and then it’s bye-bye really fast.
Getting to be frustrating. Any advice?

Same here. 42:0:9001:4409:101
The reward rate should be moderate, say, 20 Gems per won unranked and 30 Gems per won ranked games.
Since there’s Gem-Gold conversion, wouldn’t an increase in Gold reward do the same thing?
BTW I think one of the best changes in the last patch, was that there is no more difference in reward between the two arena types. Let’s keep it this way, please. So noone coming here “just” for the rewards, feels they have to do ranked.
Tried Gaile’s advice using “pathping -w 500 -q 100 -4 64.25.39.1 > C:\pathping.txt” (minus the quotes), it comes back at me “Access is denied.”
You probably have no write-permission for C:\., try a different path.
I played 3 matches tonight. One was fun. One was 4v5. One was 3v5.
Meh.
If I understood it right, that’s because the system is set up to use profession MMR. And it would be unfair to queue with a profession with which you have a low MMR and then switch once in the game.
However, as with dishonor, profession MMR is currently “disabled” for some reason.
I’m wondering too. In the first couple of days Unranked worked beautifully for me, but now it’s 4v5 a lot. Not much different from Hotjoin at this point…
