Ever since I got hooked on sPvP I find Pve & WvW boring…
All they need to do is make it impossible to solo join team queue.
Wouldn’t change much. People would use the lfg tool. With all the good and bad issues that come with that.
It’s not the 1v1. It’s when the other team has 3 players of a certain class and yours does not. Teamplay won’t solve that problem.
Also, I think classes aren’t OP, when they are very good in what they do. It’s when they are very good in everything they do, with no downside, against all other classes/builds.
Okay, that’s an interesting way to think of the balance issue.
Unfortunately there are more things going on here. To continue the PvE analogy, when a member of a dungeon group drops, I open the lfg-tool and ask for somebody else.
When I’m 4v5 here I open… oh, wait…
Why?
It’s much harder to win in Solo Q, since these things often occur:
- Spirit Watch & Skyhammer
- 4v5 and afk
- People on your team who have no idea what they’re doing
- Fighting against teams that have R50s+, with R10 on your side
Clearly, managing to still win with that deserves more rewards.
Been getting this error code on the forum a lot today…
Yes, same here. I get very few close matches. Usually it’s a difference of at least 100 points, mostly more.
I’m concerned when I read this request.
We’ve learned that the next patch is a maintenance patch, very strictly.
So if Anet listens to this request, they might change the bug (ranger), but not HS, which is working as currently intended.
That would lead to more imbalances right there, since ranger & team is suddenly even weaker than warrior & team.
At this point I’d rather wait and have all the balance stuff in one package.
Top tier players might be motivated only by $$$ for example, while lower tier players may be driven primarily to earn levels/gold.
I’m not interested in $$$. For that I go to work. I pvp for fun.
Skins & Titles make me happy
Solo Queue… Why is it so hard to convince a “team” not to be all over the place, not to try and take 3 points at once, when none are secure. Frustrating.
Uhh, what?
Warriors & good Guardians who laugh, while they carry the orb are the problem.
I’ve never heard anyone complain about a transform.
What type of structure would you find interesting for leagues and ladders?
Several tiers. At the beginning of each season everyone should be reset, so there is a fresh playing field for everyone. The first month’s result decide which tier you are in and the second is matches only in your tier.
How long should a season last?
About 2 months. Any longer and people could give up, when they don’t see any more chances for themselves.
What would motivate you to play in one?
Rewards and good matches. Good matches are fair matches. For that 4v5 and afk needs to be solved. Skyhammer and Spirit Watch need to be removed or at least changed due to class imbalance issues (suggestions have been made). Warrior supremacy needs to be addressed.
What types of rewards would you like to see?
Exclusive Skins, Titles, additions to existing skins (like the Guild symbols)
How would a player earn these rewards?
I think this should be different for Team Queue and Solo Queue:
- A team should win as a team, so only winning a match awards points.
- However a solo player who has no choice with whom he is teamed up should get points for achieving goals in a match. Essentially everything that shows up on the scorecard should give at least the same total amount of points as winning. It’s important that non-obvious things like bunkering and going to save a team mate are also taken into account.
How would you encourage players of all skill levels to participate?
The rewards will be a big selling point. So there should be many rewards along the way, small ones at first, getting bigger as the season moves on, including some guaranteed ones. For every tier.
More rewards can lead to more rage from certain players. This will almost certainly drive new players away. There needs to be a working, easy report-system, that takes quick, justified action.
It’s just you. Medium has to me the same feel as some already existing mediums.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/player-vs-player-rewards-roadmap/
“Players will be able to earn gear in PvP that can be carried over to PvE and vice versa.”
and
“With gear unification we will also introduce a system that allows players to set goals for rewards in PvP and work towards them. We are not ready to discuss this system in detail yet…”
I think that’s all as far as official info goes.
I wonder if we are gonna get a “What should be fixed first” question, like they did in the Balance section.
Things that come to mind:
- 4v5
- New Game modes
- Map selection (no Skyhammer or Spirit Watch if the player chooses it)
- Changes to specific professions (nerfs/buffs)
- Rewards
I think ANet would be more interested in the “big picture” item at first, instead of details, like “Please nerf skill xy.”
Any other biggie I left out?
That the players who trash talk their team the most, are the ones who contribute the least to the match?
I really can’t get behind that mentality, so much blind rage in some people…
Ah, thanks!
So, looks like only some of the Stalwart & Commando stuff and the Masquerade/Tribal. Not much. That’s kinda sad…
Or Mystery Coffer.
Since these might go away with the reward-changes, I wondered what the PvP-only skins are, so I can try to get them all.
I know the Masquerade set is one (same-name-but-different in PvE).
Any others?
For me this is by far the best Gemstore armor skin so far. I’ll buy my 2nd set today.
The only suggestion I have is about the face / helm. I think it would be awesome if there was an option that would show your normal face when you walk around and the blue face when in combat. It would make it seem like a protective visor that becomes active.
… when you’ve been wondering how come your team is being destroyed, when they don’t seem to be so bad. Are the others so good?
And then you hear “Your team was victorious” and you realize you were looking at the other team’s score all this time. Heh.
No, I had it happen after I read this here, so I made sure to click the higher-ranked one. Still only got the other one.
Oh come on, I’m sure at least Norn and Sylvari like to feel a little fresh wind & water
Did I mention yet how much I like it on my character? Really happy with it.
I bought it just for the medium pants. I love them.
Happened to me a second ago. Got shown Wolf & Tiger at 39. I made sure to click Tiger, but still only got Wolf.
From my understanding part of the reasoning behind this change is to make an incentive for people who haven’t yet, to try out PvP. Remove the barrier about a whole ’nother set of equipment.
So I think PvE stuff will most certainly be able to be used for their skins.
I think the best way to do that, would be to have everything you own currently in PvE plus the stuff in the PvP locker, show up as a skin in the new locker. More like the skins from the achievements. But we haven’t heard any details about that yet.
I have seen comments in several threads that say, Team Queue shouldn’t be accessible by solo players. I remember words like broken and bug.
What is the reasoning behind this?
I think if that would be changed, the solo players would just start using the lfg tool to form groups.
So one extra step to get there.
However looking at the PvE / dungeon situation I fear it wouldn’t take a minute for the first “no ele” and “only meta of the month” things to pop up there. Which sounds like an awful direction to go IMO.
Best info I found on this:
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/55030-pvp-mystic-forge-recipes/
From the few dev comments on the issue, it has been my impression that the stuff in the locker will remain, but everything else (perhaps with the exception of stuff currently equipped?) will vanish.
Simple solution:
1. make every player switch off 1 map for soloq
Best solution I’ve heard about this. Simple and should make everyone happy.
Well, the problem with this is that people could start using it as a strategy. Leave the game to reset it.
How about porting somebody else from the queue in? I guess he could be asked “do you want to join?” – Kinda like the Auto Balance thing.
Okay. I didn’t keep track, but I had less than 10 Solo matches today. If I count the one that was afk from the start, 4 of those were 4v5. That’s just ridiculous.
I don’t know what the solution could be. But this is really frustrating.
I really disliked Skyhammer in the beginning. Then I changed class. Now I think it’s kinda fun. I esp. like the jump pads.
I hate Spirit Watch with the constant orb running.
And now 5v5. But one was afk for the whole game. Wonderful.
First game of the day. 4v5.
I don’t get it. We were winning, so I doubt a rage-quit.
Yes. I’ve had 3 mesmers twice on the other team today. It can be hard to see what is what then.
How can we report disconnect issues? In those cases I can’t get the ip address. Is there a general ip to tracert?
Same thing here. Two disconnects with a message about login-servers not being reachable.
It’s not my general connection to the net. My Internet radio streamed fine during that.
Okay, this just happened for the second time.
This is while playing sPvP. The sound-effects just vanish. However the background music still plays. Obviously this is very distracting.
I’ve noticed, when this happens, also the last text remain on screen, like “You’ve taken an Orb” or “The blue lord’s been slain”.
And at the end of the match the scoreboard does not come up automatically. However I can bring it up manually.
Nothing gets the sound back even after the match, except for restarting the client.
Ohhh… That’s it, not the upgrade at all! Thank you.
How do I return an item back to the Locker, once I have put an upgrade on it? Deposit is grayed out. But I’m pretty sure I’ve returned stuff with upgrades before…
Thanks, those are valuable examples.
Still… what I saw yesterday doesn’t fit there. Seems even more now to have simply been cases of team-runs-all-over-the-place and achieves nothing. Oh well.
Hmm… worst luck or lying – no. I did one Solo match today. Yes, 4v5. That’s 100% today

Try Solo or Team Queue. If that’s not your thing, choose a server that has a 5 person limit (via filter or servers > #100). Much less chaos that way. The maps are not designed for more than 5 people in my opinion…
I was afraid of that… All is vain.
This is my first day of team queue, so I am most probably missing something here.
I’ve noticed that every time my team had one a near and the rest at mid, we won.
Every time people went to far, we lost.
What is the advantage of trying to get far and, what seems to me, weakening the rest of the team?
Lately I seem to get Immobilize-stacked a lot in PvP. Is there any way to deal with this?
Do we as Rangers have any kind of active condition removal that I am overlooking? The passives don’t seem to be able to deal with the stacking. Like at all.
I’m necroing my own thread here… I hadn’t gotten around to try the Queues until today.
Well, my Solo Queue experience is: About 3 people in my team seem to have no idea what they are doing, every match. I know ranks are not a measure of skill. Still when one side has 1, 2, 3 ranks and the other mostly 40+ it certainly seems off.
So I’ve tried soloing Team Queue right away. What a difference. Now this is fun. I’ll glady wait longer for the game to pop up.
