Currently shift + click and control + click link things into chat. My suggestion is to provide an option to change that or turn it off entirely. I would much rather have something bound to shift that I can use during battle without fear of stopping what I’m doing because the chat window is open. I had dodge bound to shift for a time and it worked out really well for me but during frantic fights I ended up running into this problem. Perhaps I am not the only one with this problem?
I agree; not sure why they didn’t implement weapon dye in GW2 when the armor dye system is so robust and awesome.
They should give more incentive to play sPVP by adding more to sPVP not by mixing it with PVE. Everything is separate between sPVP and PVE and for one reason: balance (yeah I said it with a straight face) sPVP is supposed to be played like an FPS game or an RTS game online so having PVE-like rewards in there just aren’t appropriate.
You say that PvE and PvP is separate, but historically that really hasn’t been the case. How does making all forms of PvP relevant the Gift of Battle, instead of arbitrarily excluding sPvP, affect balance in any way? And If you think they should give more incentive to play sPvP why shouldn’t they grant tokens like a Badge of Honor to get players that want to progress in PvE as well as PvP a chance to do so?
I realize there is a jumping puzzle, but should something that is called the Gift of Battle really be that dependent on jumping puzzles? Wouldn’t it make more sense to add something like Badges of Honor to sPvP? To me this seems like the legendary defender title in Guild Wars – sure, there was a way to get it before they made the change, but it just didn’t make sense.
No.
sPvP should get legendary skins just by doing sPvP.
The gear is separate.
But why is the gear separate? Why does the Gift of Battle, ostensibly placed in the game to promote PvP, only reward on type of PvP? Why does sPvP have to be completely divorced from the rest of them game? It wasn’t in Guild Wars, and it doesn’t really make sense to do it here if interest is waning in sPvP to begin with. They should give more incentive to play sPvP, not less.
That is a good point, Guild Wars had an account wide currency you gained from all sorts of PvP that could be used to buy all sorts of other things both in and out of PvP (not the least of which was amber). You can’t even take the skins you earn in sPvP out of the Mists! I think adding other incentives like karma as possible sPvP chest rewards would also be a great idea.
I am excited about next year – can’t wait for Steam to be Linux native!
You, sir or madam, have just blown my mind.
Yes please! I am excited about next year – can’t wait for Steam to be Linux native! It’s pretty astonishing exactly how much more performance Valve was able to get out of Linux than Windows – I wonder if GW2 would see an improvement?
It seems weird that the Gift of Battle, which apparently exists to encourage PvP, doesn’t actually encourage all forms of PvP. Is there a reason sPvP reward chests can’t also grant tokens that can be used to get a Gift of Battle?
I realize Badges of Honor are also used as currency in WvW and if that is an issue perhaps a separate currency could be used for sPvP. Alternatively remove the ability altogether from badges and create another currency that drops in WvW which badges could be traded for? Just some thoughts – I’m not sure what issue, if any, simply making sPvP reward chests also drop Badges of Honor might cause.
If the posts in the sPvP forum are correct and sPvP participation is waning, this might have the added benefit of being a good incentive to play sPvP. I feel it is also a good compromise to get people who really would prefer not to do WvW for various reasons but don’t mind PvP to no clog up the WvW servers just so they can grind to a legendary, thus freeing up the servers for people that actually want to be there.
How about we add badges of honor as rewards for sPvP? A player would still have to PvP and sPvP is a lot more manageable and fun for players that don’t enjoy WvW and all of its issues but don’t mind PvP and would have the added benefit of making sPvP actually worth while. Interest seems to be waning in sPvP if I am reading the sPvP forum posts correctly…
Can an armor vendor not have a break, I mean really? = p
This seems like a bug to me since the name is no longer representative of the stats. I too am having the same issue, except with armor. Whatever item you keep the skin for also keeps the name and rarity.
I really like the Shining Blade getup, I personally have the draconic coat and have transmuted everything else to the banded set with a silver and green theme (everyone seems to be using a lot of gold so i avoided it). looks pretty awesome.
I am personally a fan of the banded, draconic, and inquest chest armor pieces.
The gods did indeed grant her a boon, but I’m not sure she was forced to be in the Realm of Torment. If memory serves, she was spirited away with the rest of your group after you defeat Varesh.
shiver peek mountains
I believe you meant peaks.
I’d like to add something, if I may. First, lets assume Malchor is the sculptor Dwayna has her tryst with (I feel this is reasonable). If we assume Malchor never met Dwayna before he sculpted her and they “conceived” Grenth at that time (which we are led to believe by the in game lore) then at the time Malchor might have been able to meet his son in life Grenth would still only be a half-god, since in game lore also states that where his father fell, Grenth would rise, implying he reached god-hood after his fathers death. Taking in game snippets of lore at face value, I would say that the above isn’t too far fetched…
This does not mean, however, that Malchor could not have sculpted his son’s statue. Remember, ghosts are everyday things in Tyria, and Grenth had just become essentially the god of death. It isn’t really a far stretch to imagine Malchor, proud of what his son had accomplished, taking up his old trade in the land of the dead to present him with the greatest gift he could bestow: a statue worthy of a newly formed god that could be taken to Tyria by really anyone including Grenth’s reapers and presented to his newly gathered acolytes.
In Guild Wars, faith and religion are very different concepts, because the races of Tyria build these on the foundation that the beings they beseech are in fact real things. They place their faith not on the reality of these beings but on their ability to rely on them for blessings. The power of gods is a real force in the world, and requires no faith.
The question of “what is a god” is a good one, because knowing that these beings called gods are real certainly changes how people are able to perceive them. The charr claim that they killed their gods—they acknowledge the status of these beings as gods, and they acknowledge the Six Gods of the humans. A “god” is just a being of immense power that can grant this power to other beings in exchange for devotion. Or such a being is made a “god” by devotees.
Tyrians don’t sweat the details. A god is a god. You worship it or you don’t.
Very well stated. You have summed this up quite well – what people seem to be missing is that our personal experiences with religion don’t apply in worlds like Tyria where deities are clearly present, even if they are somewhat detached. Atheism and many of our other real world belief systems simply would not apply if a particular pantheon of deities appeared tomorrow and made their power known. Regardless of whether people worshiped them or not, there really is no denying that they exist.
In response to the OP: You don’t really see any of the deities in any of the GW games, really, except for Abbadon. Just avatars or representations of them, because they had pulled back from the world. They are probably even further away now. Why do people expect Kormir to still think / act like she did when she was a mortal after changing the very nature of her being and absorbing all that knowledge and power? Why would you expect something other than taking part in an awesome story out GW: Nightfall 2?
As has been mentioned every human has access to all skills bearing the name of the six human gods. What I don’t get is why people think racial skills should be more powerful than they are – if you look at them, none of them are absolute game changers, and it’s meant to be that way. You may think condition removal is dumb if, say, you play a guardian, but other professions might actually really like the skill.
I always used “Incoming!” with my ’gon back in the day.
