Celestial provides a more balanced engineer but I didn’t have celestial and CBA to farm that gear so I just went w/ what I had, full zerker. To be honest, u don’t lose that much survivability cause if they were gonna gib u before, they’re still gonna gib u now. W/ this spec, u have enough mobility to escape and a plethora of escape tools, Gear Shield, Slick Shoes, Super Speed, Box o Nails, Elixir X (Rampage), Supply Drop, etc. I kinda play it like a thief w/o the stealth, snipe people by pulling them in w/ Magnet pull after seeing them evade once or twice or if they don’t have stability then unload. Run away, rinse and repeat. Again, this is just how I personally play it.
As far as zerg surfing, I would again play like a thief pulling folks out of the back line because no amount of toughness/vitality can survive the hammer train w/o stability. But I’m only rank 25 in WvW so I could be talkin out my kitten.
And about the hairstyles – I know that Asura Female only has a few of them but with the Hairkit you’re able to change them and apply new (+exclusive) colors. Of course those have to be matched to either provide your main-skins color or to provide skin-diversity by going for a more normal color like Brown or Blonde. There ’s also a permanent contract to change them over and over again without paying gems. And there are also three new hairstyles (exclusive to the kits thought) that are all three good looking in my opinion.

We’ll agree to disagree on the cloth engineer thing. As far as the hair cuts, perma contract is super rare and the exclusive colors only 6 loud blueish purple colors. I have a lot of different dyes that I can’t use. I’ve spent 500 gems on trying the new hair style and realizing that it’s jarring to see that off color on my hair and reverting back.

I do want skin diversity, I just don’t want cloth skins. That goes against the very basis of armored classes. Would u support someone wanting plate armor for their ele? It doesn’t make sense. It’s not even a matter of my taste, I have a female asura necro w/ the light aether helm (both asura sexes wear the male helm w/ the ponytail) and acolyte set in all abyss and she looks great.
Again, if u want to play a scholar, roll a light cloth class. If u want to play an engie, messing w/ bombs, nades, flamethrowers, acid, u better bring something better than silk threads…
Lovely haircuts? U mean the same lovely haircuts that u’re limited to the starter dyes so u can’t really get too colorful or else ur toon won’t match?
Outside of the male helm, light Aether armor is ugly as kitten. U wanna wear cloth, play a light armor class.

I play engi in WvWvW.
I admit warriors can be tough, but I can take down most of them with patience.
I have more hps than them (Healing Turret heals 2*2520+9s regen (= 1170)2*1320 (Turret blast + Rocket Boots) = 50401170+2640 = 8920 8920/20 = 446 hps).
I can blind them, chill them, stun them with shield #5, and stop him with bombs.
Sure, it’s a long fight. But not a hopeless one.
And one more thing: don’t avoid a warrior running a straight line, but circle around him. Warrior are mobile only when they need to walk in a straight line. And use +condi duration food (as you always should as an engi condi roamer).
Another possibility: Elixir Gun. Perma weakness, Perma bleed, Cripple and Poison. Good luck with that. Use Protection Injection and/or -20% damage when disabled alongside weakness and you won’t fear 100 blades that much anymore, even if weakness gets cleansed.
Warriors have 400 from Healing Signet and another 400/3sec from a trait in the third line. I’m sorry but they still have u beat there. Then factor in that u blew a kitten ton of cds to get that heal and the fact that u still have to avoid the stuns. My only 2 80s are an engineer that I’ve played over 3000 spvp matches w/ and a warrior that is the troll 0/10/30/0/30. Easily swappable into hammer or greatsword. Not complaining cause u’re right, they can be beat but if they decide they want to run away, guess what, their mobility trumps urs too.
That word, mobility, it doesn’t mean what u think it means. We, engies, can spend 20 points to have perma sprint and vigor in trees we may not want to go in at all.
Engineer also has other sources of mobility.
Please, elaborate. I really want to know because I like making fun builds with my engineer.
rifle number 4, 5, and easily perma swiftness and vigor through weapon swap without cool down. I know in pvp, engineer go condition build, but in pve you can have more mobility using rifle.
If u think Rifle 4 is a form of mobility, u have no idea what u’re doing. U sacrifice 20 trait points to have perma swiftness and vigor and it’s only achieved thru swapping kits constantly. As already stated, rocket boots is a utility.

Don’t have celestial, knight or cavalier. Went in WvWvW as a zerker and had a BLAST yesterday. I was able to run away most of the time w/ super speed, gear shield, box o nails, and speedy kits. Where I saw a lot of results were the thieves that would unstealth in downed state due to dmg from jump shot, pry bar, or nade barrage. I’m half tempted to trait Acidic Elixirs and use Elixir H and throw it to remove stability before the fight as it would help w/ my pulls and the field is huge. We shall see…
Whatever you do, don’t use it at max Range. Lol.

As enticing as the changes to bombs are, I think I’ll be trying HGH again. The Elixir S and B changes are going to provide a lot of utility, especially in PvP.
I thought so too, but nope. Warrior/Guardian stun lock FTW.
I was really hopeful these changes would allow me to go full elixir in WvW. I was wrong and will continue to run a hybrid build.
Elixir B/S toolbelt should still allow u to get away, right? W/ those guys, I just run around in my smoke bomb and drop more bombs…

False alarm, runes were NOT nerfed/balanced in any way. Pewpew away…
So many choices, so many things to consider. I have full Apothecary (perplexity runes, which ironically weren’t nerfed), full Dire (noble runes), and full Zerker (ruby orbs) but a few utils/kits just became way more valuable.
Elixir B and S, w/ Boon Duration and Potent Elixirs should be fun.
BK, w/ Forceful Explosions and Short fuse could be fun also.
Looking forward to all the new interesting builds/specs we’ll see. I know I ran into a condi/control rifle, bk, mine and slick shoes engie who was very entertaining to spectate.

U have 3 blinds with static shot, smoke bomb, and vent smoke. Blinds kill this build. Protection injection and stabilizing armor should take off 53% of their DMG.

Flame turret is smoke field, Thumper turret is aoe pushback. Bomb or Mine Kit should be fun w/ this build. Already annoying warriors have 3 sources of stability, but it’s a fun build.
Tried all night w/ this build. Could not get off enough condi dmg to reliably kill most. I was dying to folks I used to smoke w/ dire perplexity. and perma stealth thieves, forget about it.

Is it 6% of ur stat Condition damage (1500 condition dmg stat to 1590 condition dmg stat) or is it 6% condi dmg to a target (1000 burning dmg per tick to 1060 burning dmg per tick)?

I’m not sure if you’re questioning the Bursting sigil or what. It is definitely great, netting you near 100 condition damage in a full condition build. It may even give more after additions like Might and Sigil of Corruption. I don’t know if Bursting is the last thing calculated, or if it’s only calculated off your base amount, or what.

I calculated bleeding at 1600 condi dmg as 122.5 per tick. Sigil of Bursting would increase by about 7 dmg. Formula for bleeding is as follows:
(0.05 * Condition Damage) + (0.5 * Level) + 2.5 per stack per second
or
(0.05 * 1600) + (0.5 * 80) +2.5
or
80 + 40 + 2.5
add in sigil of bursting
122.5*1.06
129.85
For might stacking builds, some of us would rather not give up sigil of battle as that’s 105 condi dmg and might duration can be manipulated. Again, I’m not saying it’s bad, I’m just theorycrafting (likely poorly) what would be the most optimal.
Runes of the noble, Enhanced Performance, Sigil of battle is a might generating monster for boosting nade direct and condi dmg.
I’m just rambling at this point, please ignore me as I have no idea what I originally tried to convey.

I’m not sure if I get you right. U want untraited nades to be 3 nades but less powerful, slower travel, less range. But then someone would spec into it to get the full benefits. Why would anyone want a new 3 untraited nades that are equal to dmg of the current 2 untraited nades. What benefit would it being 3 give u?
Here’s my engie, 1st set is SoE armor worn in the Mist for PvP w/ Noble Goggles, 2nd set is Aetherblade armor for Apothecary set for WvWvW, 3rd set is the Magitech armor purchased twice for 2 sets of gear, Dire usually accompanied by King Toad pistols or pistol/shield, and Zerker accompanied by King Toad rifle.

It would make no sense to run Grenade kit w/o the trait, Grenadier, for the extra nade.
I saw Swiftness on swap.
I saw Vigor on swap.
I saw 3 might on swap.
I saw 6 might on heal.
I didn’t see protection when stunned so no Protection Injection, I’ll concede that one. I did see retal on a dodge so I’m not even sure wtf.
I saw Incendiary Powder in a fight where u landed several pistol hits but when the mesmer came out of stealth he was burning.
I have full Dire, my base health is 21K so that’s not dire.
The formula for bleeds is (condi dmg * .05) + 42.5, @ 2100 condi dmg = 147.5, @ 2600 = 172.5
I can’t imagine running dual pistol w/o Hair Trigger but if he says he doesn’t who am I to challenge.
