And it now appears that somehow they managed to bypass the authenticator on the account as well, as a guild member has informed me, that apparently I left the guild 10 hours ago, when I was actually in work.

Just joining in here, as I’ve had this happen to me today. Was playing fine last night, and today the password is not valid (GW1 reports this).

I don’t know at this point if it was connected (but I STRONGLY suspect it), but my NCSoft Master Account also appears to have been compromised, despite the fact I haven’t even used it in over 12 months. Also one of my GW1 accounts has also had it’s password changed and was accessed 10 hours ago (when I was in work).

I’ve reported the hack to support, I’m just praying that the authenticator on my account stopped them accessing my GW2 account.

I really wish there was some way of deleting my NCSoft account.

I approve of this alteration.. If I could send cake to Devon (incidentally I’m originally from Devon (a county in the UK)), I would. But I’m on this side of the pond, and the dev Devon isn’t.

I happily think that the GW1 way of unlocking items should be used instead (and includes armour) of the way it is now.

There are things in GW1 that should have made it over to GW2, and this is one of them.

Just pointing out that people can already access the bank from anywhere, all they have to do is map to their home borderland in WvWvW, and go visit the crafting area. Voila instant bank access.

To get back to where they were, they then either log out and back in, or use the HoM stone, and use the green instance star to exit back where they were.

So that being said I don’t see any reason why the bank can’t be accessed in the mists.

@Goloith, do you know how? as I’m not aware of how to do this with my current dual monitor setup.

Agreed, but I have to think that SOMETHING (anything) needs to be done about precursors. I’m lucky if I get 2 gold an evening’s playtime. And at the current rate of inflation, precursors are a pipe dream from the TP as they’re going up by more than that, because I’ll never have enough gold to actually buy one.

However I’m also EXTREMELY unlucky when it comes to drops. In nearly 1,200 hours I’ve had exactly 4 exotic drops that weren’t from a zone completion. And 3 of those came from dungeon chests. Solely relying on the RNG (with odds rarer than being hit by lightening) is only screwing over the majority of players.

Yes it’s meant to be Legendary, that just means it should be difficult to get, NOT IMPOSSIBLE!!

I second this. It would be immensely useful to be able to move some UI windows to the 2nd monitor (the WvWvW map springs immediately to mind).

Seems a bit of a shame that multi-monitor support hasn’t been thought of before.

This list is COMPLETELY useless to anyone under lvl 26, which is the first time you can buy a 6 skill point skill. Starting zones have players under lvl 26, which means they don’t have any way of gaining stability.

Yes he had a pattern, but between the water, and the completely unavoidable (to me) attacks… I wasted 3 continue coins on this fecker… and still had not a single clue as to how to defeat him. The only target the entire time was the crystal… which according to others here, is NOT what you need to hit to kill him… Gonna be easier for me to hit the chests than complete this.

Not trying to call out a dev, but wouldn’t an idea be that if you guest on a server you should be able to access the guild unlocks that your guild has on that server?

I moved my account away from the my guilds normal home, to another server… but even when I guest back on the original server, I still can’t access the already unlocked guild benefits.

It just strikes me as a little odd.

I guess I should have done this a while ago, but never bothered until now. But I went to HoM and picked up all the PVP skins that I had unlocked.

Afterwards I went to the Mists, and put all the skins into the PvP locker.

Except for the PVP Gnarled Walking Staff, there is no option to deposit the collectible.

Scrolling the locker to the Staff section, there is a spot for the PvP Gnarled Walking Staff, but it’s Masterwork rarity and not the Exotic rarity that Kimmes gives you.

Also on the Scepter tab, there are 2 slots for PVP Ogre Scepter, the first one is interactible, the second one isn’t.

I’m surprised that no-one mentioned the 30+ minute fight in Stonemist last night, when both SFR and VS broke in at the same time. VS went to the Lord, and SFR went upstairs. A few waypoint runs later, fighting was still going on, with Deso managing to retain SM for a while longer.

Although to be honest it was a complete lag fest.. I often couldn’t even get shouts off.

To my mind removing the reward for dolly escorts was a bad move.

If someone killing a dolly gets a reward… Surely someone protecting a dolly to it’s destination should get a reward to?

Speaking as someone who doesn’t even have 10gold let alone 100g, yes repair bills are not my favourite pastime. It’s often a case of “here comes a zerg”, “oh look I’m dead”, “oh look my armour broke”.. and then I tot up how much silver I made in the encounter…

To stop this happening you need to set an option… Press F11, click on Graphic Options…

The top selection is probably set to “Windowed Fullscreen”. When in this mode the mouse will ‘wander’ off of the GW2 window and onto the other monitor.

To prevent this set, this option to Fullscreen. Then to swap to the other monitor, you need to alt-tab out of GW2.

Do you kill everything you come across along the way? I’ve noticed that many players do not do that, and instead just run the same events over and over. While doing so is useful for getting karma, I prefer to solo by running around aimlessly murdering everything in sight, and I find a lot of rares. I go to a lot of different locations, and do not stay in one spot and grind (not sure if that helps at all, but it does help for XP gain at least and gaining more skill points to spend at 80). Usually I just have 30% magic find going because my DPS is slowed too much if I’m in my full magic find set when solo.

Yes, I often spend a lot of time just running around completing events, and often just killing red dots (I really miss them not appearing on the radar like in GW1)… I’ve also got several toons so I swap between them a lot. As an example I did a complete fractal run, and I got 1 rare the entire run (out of the Maw chest). I did a couple CM dungeons, and got 0 rares. I could go on but that would be de-railing the topic. Yeah for me the +ecto items are a pipe-dream. I only just got Syzygy a couple days ago.. it’ll be nice to see what changes they made to the ‘all stat ascended items’.

Rares drop all of the time if you have even a tiny percentage of Magic Find (just what an omnomberry bar gives). It’s pretty common to get around 5 rares an hour purely soloing.

Wow, I really SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY, want your account. I’m EXTREMELY lucky if I get 1 rare during an entire evenings playtime.. and that’s with running about +30% magic find. 5 rares in an hour is fairy tale land as far as I’m concerned.

Luck should never be a major factor in a game… I have never ever been lucky in any game including all 14,900 hours I spent in GW1.

For those people who have equally bad luck, games should have more than one method of getting an item. So if you don’t get it one way (say luck), then at least you can work on it another. Trying to stop people from working towards an item (instead of being “lucky”), should never be part of any game.

Just had this happen to me.. I typed about the dailies changing, mentioned an event in map chat, and pinged the waypoint over a period of 3 minutes, and BLAM… blocked

10 minutes later and I still can’t type in map chat.

If you think Euro’s are hard done by.. please spare a thought for UK players.

$10 should be £6.45, but UK players are charged £8.50, over £2 more than US players.

Now if that ‘20% extra’ is down purely down to VAT then I call kitten… 20% of £6.45 is £1.29 for a total of £7.74 *NOT £8.50.*

The current differential between US$ and UK£ prices is currently 31.9%. Dropping the UK price to £8 would still be enough to cover the ‘20% VAT’ and leave room for a bit of profit.

RoboForm fit the bill for him – he particularly likes the “safe notes” feature and the fact that he can add additional information to each Passcard such as answers to security questions.

You can also do this with Keepass as well. Keepass also keeps a history of your previously used passwords, and when set up right, can auto-enter the username/password with a single key combination, a feature I find pretty useful.

A little while back, I apparently got infracted for “lying”. I got a lovely pm from a nameless moderater accusing me of posting “falsehood”, which included an e-mail address (forums@arena.net) to contact if I wanted to contest the said infraction.

Well, Yes, I most definately DID want to contest the infraction, as under NO CIRCUMSTANCES did I EVER lie, in ANY of my posts. So I wrote to the specified e-mail address informing the CS team that I wanted to contest my infraction. So far, (it’s been 1 week), and I’ve not heard anything in reply.

Was my infraction investigated? Was it recinded? Was it upheld? I have no idea… and I still have no idea what apparently I lied about (my infracted post was informing a user, that Anet would very probably lock their new thread, as Anet had already locked their previous thread on the very same subject).

Is it normal, not to hear the outcome of any infraction investigation request? If not, why haven’t I heard anything back, if it is, how am I supposed to know the outcome?

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but replying again to the e-mail address doesn’t seem to the way forward as I’ve already waited a week so far, to not hear anything about the last e-mail I sent to that address. Also this appears to be the most appropiate forum, as it is about a support issue.

Why would it cause confusion really? The game is rated PEGI 12 so we can assume that all the players are at least 12 and a 12 year old should be able to either add 6 to PST or to subtract 1 from CET.

Because up until this event… every time given for a European timed event in GW2, has been given in UTC/GMT, and NOT CET. Quite a few people will have no clue what CET is and how it applies to them.

For the sake on consistency, GMT should always be used for English European timings. CET should be used for French/German/whatever else language European timings. Mixing and matching between the two, is just adding more confusion to the mix.

Can someone change the english pages to use UTC/GMT for the european timezone. This has been the standard right up until this event.. I really do not see the need to change this now, all you’re doing is causing more confusion.

For the non-english pages CET is fine..

Most English speaking users in Europe, are not even in the CET timezone.

This whole Agony/Infused gear idea is very similar to both Radiance in LoTRO, and (to a lesser extent), Mk XII Borg gear from STO.

In LoTRO’s case, you could buy the Radiance gear with certain dungeon tokens, which meant you had to grind them in the first place. It was also basically an artifical gating mechanic, which eventually got entirely removed from the game because it wasn’t working and divided the players.

In STO, the Mk XII’s only dropped randomly if you completed the STF, and from what I can tell, the odds were much much worse than GW2’s Infused rings drop rate. However STO also removed the RNG element from obtaining the Mk XII’s purely because some players had done 500+ STF’s and never gotten a single drop.

I’m not a fan of gating, and also I’m finding that GW2’s RNG is equally as bad (to ME), as GW1’s..

So to me Fractals are a no-go zone.

That is the big question, and if Anet is unable to restore account lost before this is put into place, will we be given compensation for at least major losses (EX: legendaries, large amounts of gold, etc…)

When this feature was introduced in GW1, any hacks that happened before it was introduced could NOT be undone by doing an account rollback. It would only affect accounts hacked after rollbacks went active.

With that being the case the chances of you getting a rollback are close to zero. And as Anet don’t have a compensation scheme either, you’ll find you won’t get anything back until rollbacks are active, and even then it’ll only be if your account was hacked after it went active.

In Aion, once you get to the character screen, you then have to enter a 6-8 digit number using the mouse only, where the numbers change positions each time you play.

All I know is that it works for me… which I’m afraid doesn’t help you any…

Actually fairly good assuming you don’t have a bad password on your mail account.

Spoofing an e-mail address is fairly simple but doesn’t get you anywhere, all you’re doing is saying YYY sent the e-mail instead of XXX.

You don’t control where the e-mail goes, and as the e-mail is still sent to the relevant e-mail box (which for the most part don’t use IP addresses), which only you can access with the right information.

If you’re concerned, put an authenticator on your account.

Hey I’m only pointing out what Anet will do when they see this. If they locked your previous thread, they’ll lock this one to… I don’t make the rules.

There’s at least ONE active post about Commanders getting hacked (when I looked it was the link above this post)… so no it’s not getting minimized. That you didn’t get (what you thought was) the right response from Support is a little sad… Anet doesn’t quite have the tools in place to do what you want them to do (which is account restoration I assume), but they will do shortly

Other than that what can they do? They gave you your account back.. now instead of you posting on here about how Support aren’t supporting you.. go put an authenticator on your account.

Anet will always do that, as they will with this post when they see it..

There are threads about this already which they want you to use.. not repeatedly spam new threads when you get an old one locked.

Nexon didn’t own 15% of NcSoft back then.. It won’t be so easy now, or cheap.

I’d also like to see an option to request the code every so often (like 1, 2, or 4 weeks), regardless of setting.

Because ascended gear is so much more powerful it makes the game unplayable if you don’t have it.

The game itself won’t be unplayable, but what will happen is kitten group leaders who insist that you have Ascended gear to even be invited to their party.

It’s basically another way for elitest kittens to victimise you.

Physical authenticator, please. Really can’t understand how a company can expect their MMO to ever be taken seriously in this day and age without providing players with an option to purchase one.

But you can buy physical authenticator’s for GW2 (although I’m not 100% sure of the specs, it only has to be compatible with the relevant RFC, examples of relevant products have been posted previously).

You can also download the authernticator app for a wide veriety of smart phones..

…and if that’s not enough for you, you can also use a program to emulate the authenticator on your PC.. So in reality, there is not really any excuse for not using an authenticator.

However, I do sympathise with the OP, as I was hacked in GW1, and lost quite a lot of items from several accounts (my NCSoft Master Account got hit), and to this day, I’ve still never quite recovered from it.

No I didn’t, Aion’s no longer run by NcSoft (or at least it isn’t in Europe as Gameforge runs it here).

I’m really really hoping this isn’t going to be another case of a games publisher completely screwing over a game for short term gain… much like EA has done to any of the software houses they’d brought, or even what Perfect World did to Star Trek Online.

NcSoft did close City of Heroes last week, because (I’m guessing), that F2P didn’t go to well for it. Which doesn’t leave to many options left… Aion has already been sold to outside parties, Lineage is being nickle and dimed (or I assume Nexon is attempting to do so as I don’t play Lineage), which pretty much only leaves GW2.

Why is it that companies always always look @ the short term view and never the long term. When you sell something it no longer contributes to your profits.
