I did have an aftermarket nic on, a good one, and I made sure I had the latest drivers. There was simply nothing else I could do to fix it on my end. If you read above, I have already rolled back to Win 7 Pro and am getting phenomenal FPS and game performance.
’nuff said.
Lol, glad I am not the only one who was hearing that. Good stuff ^__^
I’ve seen that pic before, with the caption:
“Sure, I have no problem with you going out with the guys tonight. What time are we leaving?”
Love that lol. And agree with OP, I love this game.
Khilly, after Killy from the manga Blame! and because “Killy” had been taken already. Plus it just sounds pretty mean, imho.
Give me a nice, chatty level 60 player with a nice sense of humor who has never even heard of the dungeon anytime. I prefer those over one of those elitist self proclaimed pros who only want to do speedruns with fully geared level 80’s.
Even though the dungeon takes a little bit longer, I’ll know I have more fun along the way.
This exactly. As soon as I am in a pug and someone turns into the gunny and is yelling at folks then talking smack because they didn’t do it right then or like he had imagined it, I want to leave. I’d rather have some chill folks, 1 or 2 with unfair pulled up, and just have a good time killing a dungeon. I hate looking at my gaming like a job, an when it starts becoming one, I go elsewhere. Not interested, lol.
Any community is better than Lineage II was. Even Aion. Lol.
Wait yeah, I think you have to be level 80 to equip it too, yeah? Maybe he just used lower level skins to freak people out, and in a round about way, create threads like this?
Queue in the eerie 50’s horror movie sound…
Man, that has to be sad. reminds me of the tail end at SWG, when all the player cities just dried up, and there were entire cities everywhere with no one in them…sad.
Yeah, it’s because of the 100g, what else would it be? Lol. Hater’s gonna hate, that is all there is to say really.
in all honesty, I am gonna say it’s because of all the real kitten in the game, the smack talkers, the people who go way out of their way to grieve people and belittle them, talk crap about their gear, their level, their playstyle…etc. They are everywhere, especially in pvp (that’s just the way it is) and these folks are always the ones to ruin it for somene who might have otherwise come around to the idea of playing an mmo with other folks they don’t know.
It took em a very long time to get over it, but imho I didn’t spend money to play a game and NOT enjoy it, so if I had to do so alone, then so be it. That’s why my clan is made of people I know in real life, we can really cut loose and be ourselves.
Again, this is just one side of the issue, I am sure this isn’t the case for everyone.
Wow that’s awesome, reminds me of the part of New Vegas where you can jump out of the map and the desert keeps going on forever…
Yeah, it all resets at 5pm. With my schedule, I kill my dailes before work, then when I get off, I can go do it all again. Love it.
Human male voice is HORRIBLE, I am glad it’s not his voice during the fighting and such. It’d be very cool to be able to choose a voice, because man, his is pretty lame.
Lol, that is rad, never had that happen before ^__^
I was playing less because of FPS issues. No help from the devs, and the tech support forums seem to be ran by 3 or 4 players (which, imho, is very cool, but sad on Anets part) who are doing an amazing job on helping us out.
I rolled my OS back from 8 to 7 pro 64bit, and my fps is back up in the 100’s, no lag whatsoever and even in wVw I am getting steady 50’s.
So yeah, I’m playing more now ^__^
Indeed, could be that he just swapped skins for what he thought looked cool.
Or could be that he payed someone in China to get the mats for him to make his legendary.
The world will never know…
But when I was working up to my Berserker’s Draconic set (which I had bought before I was lvl 80, I’m just like that), when I got to gladiator, I swapped the skin for the primeval just because I thought the gladiator set looks lame. Same with Pit Fighter, but that’s just my opinion…and that , ladies and gentlemen, is what makes the world go around…different opinions.

Rarity for one.
And just because the other items that you can’t be might be “fail” to you, since you seem to have no issue garnering them, the same can not be said for everyone.
I simply LOVE the fact that is it a pain in the kitten to get everything to make the weapons, and that it takes a bt more involvement on the player side to get it to happen. I can’t wait to finish all the things I need to do to get mine, as I’ve already started down that road.
The gem store exchange for gem to gold is there, and will always be there. If someone wants to spend hundreds to get the precursor and mats instead of farming them manually, why in the world would you even consider letting that bother you? I’ve never understood that mentality. Not trying to downplay it, more like trying to grasp it. It has nothing to do with me, I don;t know their lives/playstyle or what not, and it affects me ZERO. So, I move on, and wish for the day to where I can toss my mats into big Z and have him spit me a legendary out.
having said that, I know this type of thing may not be everyone’s cup of tea, and that is also cool. If that is the case though, you are free to move along, since there is nothing to see here ^__^

to the OP, I have been using windows 8 Pro x64 for about a week now and no issues with anything. If there is any difference in gaming it’s actually better performance. Win 8 is so light on my system it’s like it isnt even there lol only used 800MBs of RAM at idle
OK, that is good on you then I suppose, but that wasn’t my experience at all. Like I said, not everyone running 8 has these issues (and that doesn’t and SHOULDN’T negate the fact that there are Win 8 users who ARE), but what else can explain the drastic increase in performance from rolling back the OS, if I didn’t change anything else?
Not saying this will work for everyone, but I was running Windows 8 Pro and was having slide-show screen fun with an i7 3770 w/H100, 16g ram, Z77 mobo, 40meg net connection, 800w psu, etc… I rolled my OS back to Win 7 Pro and POOF-BE-GONE my fps woes were gone. Limiter off and am getting upwards of over 100 fps pretty constantly, and around 50fps in wVw.
So, if you have Win8 and are experiencing lag, have tried the fixes to no avail, it’s worth a shot.
UPDATE
Windows successfully rolled back to Win 7 Pro, FPS woes COMPLETELY gone, played 2 hours, did my dailes to completion across about 5 zones, portig over, spinning the map around, with absolutely no stutter or lag once. Turned off fps limiter and was getting between 79-115fps constantly. Did wvw for a bit, and even in there I was right around 50fps. Glad to have my game back ^__^
If you are having bad lag with Win8, and had tried every fix possible like me, this might be worth a shot.
^This. I’d like to know as well.
Not downplaying Anet at all, I really dig the game and want to stick around, but the focus…I guess has shifted? Tale a look at the tech support forum, dev interaction is mostly to just merge threads and no real support or help. It’d be cool to have an official suck it up, admit whats wrong, and address it. Regardless of how long it will take to fix, that would speak volumes for Anet and maybe simmer this forum chaos down a bit.
I’ve seen the dye remover bug before (and there is still no official response/fix for it) but never heard of the legendary icon not showing. That sucks.
Gratz on the gs btw, I am grinding towards my own right now ^__^
No, not sure if I made things unclear or not, but I am using Win8 Pro right now, my intent is to down(up)grade to Win7. The reason for the post was asking to see if Anet plans on supporting 8 in some official capacity anytime soon…
But in all reality, I am tired of waiting, and would really REALLY like to get my game on.
plus I miss my aero theme lol.
Going with only the games I’ve played, I would just put down whatever the developers were doing when both Vanguard and The Old Republic were being developed.
Having played both, I’d simply question where the money went. I don’t know if they’re 2 of the biggest financial failures in MMO history, but they have to be close, don’t they?
As for on-going games that made an abrupt change – while I didn’t play SWG, the NGE is something that has to be listed.
Oh yeah, I remember Vanguard. Oh, an evil path option for my character? Awesome…wait, its not implemented yet. Thats what I get for subbing to a half made game. What a loss that was, lol.
NGE by far takes the cake though.
Yeah, iI’ve been racking my head over it. I am just going to roll it back to 7 and be done with it, for now. I can always go back later on when things get settled in I suppose.
In love with this game as well, just wish I had better fps atm ^__^
Getting 60+ fps when you log in for about 4 minutes, then shoots down to -10, and then stutters from then. Sound clipping and distortion, slideshows, frame-freezing, lag in executing your skills, etc. Spin the camera around and it goes down to 1 at times, and is choppy as all get out. Also getting the endless loading screen at least once a night as well…
SWG’s November 15th patch didn’t make that list? Really?
For reals, lol. I thought that would be #1
Techincal support has to hand this over to a “different” department? Different than technical support? /bogglemind
I think it’s safe to say there are plenty of your customer base with the issue, how about going ahead and stepping your game up Anet? Let the department that can fix this FIX THIS instead of letting it fester like so?
Getting one a night at least…
It just strikes me as odd that the most comment activity from the devs here is to merge threads, not address the problem, or at least acknowledge them. I have faith in you, Anet, but something needs to give here.
Yeah, no “k” with mine. My bad.
Not just you. Things are going crazy today. Still waiting on an official response that they actually see the issues.
Alternately, things are on fire and they’re too busy to post an update.
They posted on their twitter that they’re aware of the issue and are currently looking into it.
Don’t use twitter, and I don’t check fb for GW2 issues, I come to THE OFFICIAL FORUMS for news and help. What gives Anet?
Right on, thanks. I’ve an i7 3770 now, but it’s not Ivy Bridge. That’s what I get for skimping out lol.
What would you say a good cpu would be if someone were in the market to upgrade Solar? With/without a budget…
I’ve got an i7 3770 cooled by an H100 and am still having very bad, slideshow-like fps issues. Per the threads in the tech section, it seems that Anet/GW2 isn’t taking full utilization of all 4 cores on a quad core processor anyways. Again, that’s what I have been seeing here, and there hasn’t been an official reason as to why the low fps seems to be plaguing quite a few of us.
I’ve been running on Windows 8 x64 since BWE1. I have none of your problems. Upgrading drivers would solve all your issues.
i7 920, 6gb DDR3, 128gb ssd, ati radeon hd4890 (for which no official drivers exist, I just use WinDDK 1.1 and these are quite good actually). Quite the same as your set up so ….
All my drivers are up to date, and none of my problems are solved.
Also, f many people are having the same issue, arising at the same time (around Lost Shores) with rig specs that surpass the minimum requirements and are having stable/good net connections, then yeah, I am going to assume it’s a server side issue. I’ve done my research, I have looked for help, I have taken the advice and done the work, and nothing is happening. My rig is perfect on my side, so what exactly are you saying? That because others who are running it with Win8 means that there are absolutely no reasons why everyone with 8 should be having issues? It doesn’t, and isn’t, working that way.
Not saying lack of Win8 support is the sole reason for my GW2 woes, but having addressed all the other issues with the fixes available pertaining to lag and latency, it’s pretty much the last thing to be taken into consideration.
I came here for help, not to be told that I am making things up.
(edited by Aoshi.4785)
I apologize, I should have included the reason for why I am even considering the step above, and that is because I have heard from the people with the same issues as me go to playing on a different rig with win7 and similar devices have NO TROUBLE at all with the game. I guess that’s just how bad I’d like to play ^__^
-Cheers
Just wondering if we can get some sort of an official word on whether support for Windows 8 is coming soon, or it’s on the back burner?
Some of us with WIn8 woes are considering downgrading (or upgrading, depending on what camp you are from) to Win7. If support is in the relatively near, some might avoid this drastic step altogether.
I, for one, would like to know. I really just want to enjoy the game, and so far it’s been an uphill battle. Not bashing Anet, love the game and the strides you’ve made, but there are still those of us who are left “wondering” when (if at all) a fix will come. The lag/latency issues are crippling, and it’s extremely hard to play, if not downright unplayable altogether. Even with rigs that supercede the minimal required specs we are still getting game-breaking issues and lag.
Any help is appreciated.
Here is what I have, for those who must know:
i7 3770 cooled by an H100
16g Dominator 16g (4×4g) DDR3 1600 ram
Z77 mobo
Scythe Kaze fan controller with max (7 plus 2 on the H100) fans
GTX 660 ti
800w PSU
256g SSD (game is on this)
38d/5u connection (consistent, the stinger is practically in my back yard)
Crafting, by far.
By very very far.
Tried the vsync (on/off), does nothing. Though I hadn’t tried the beta driver, I will do so later tonight, see if that does anything. Thanks for the heads up.
Nothing about lag/latency. I’ve been keeping an eye on this for a while now, as it is severely impacting my ability/want to play. I am holding out for an official answer soon though.
Lag and Latency sounds more like a localized issue vs. a widespread issue. I’m not sure that many people are being effected by it, but I could be wrong.
Yeah, it’s a decently big deal, check the tech forums. More interesting though is that the complaints all cropped up right when lost shores was implemented. It’s definitely server-side.
Ahh I see, I don’t spend alot of time in the technical forums clearly.
You, sir, are one of the lucky ones ^__^ I will be there soon, I swear.
I love the game, and want to keep being the same way. I just wish they’d be a bit quicker with the help, or at least have an official acknowledgement about it. But I guess that’s the way it goes in this business…

Using a GTX 660 TI (i7 3770 w/H100, 16g Dominator Ram, game on 256g ssd, 800w PSU, latest drivers for everything) and having same issues (besides the yellow blue squares), horrible bad fps and lag, one sec I’m frozen doing a move the next frame I am dead. Did the dat thing, tried running in different compat modes, changed the settings to the exact sticky paramaters, re-seated cpu and ram, cleaned (though it didn’t need it), made sure my cpu and gpu were running within normal temps, set psu to high performance, etc etc…still horrible bad slideshow-time fun after about 3-5 minutes of play.
I DO have Win 8 Pro, and I know it’s not supported. Alot of folks have it and run it fine with no issues, yet there are a few of us who do. I am going to downgrade to 7 and see what happens, all out of ideas.

Alot of people aren’t playing because of the lag since Lost Shores. It’s not effecting everyone, but it’s effecting enough.
Its your connection or ISP,but you will refuse to believe this anyways.
There are plenty of threads regarding lag, and even a sticky about it. Only 2 people affected?
It’s not his connection, I have a 38down/5up connection (stinger is right behind my back fence) and have had consistently bad fps since the Lost Shores update (talking below 10 fps)
Try again.
(edited by Aoshi.4785)
Same here, I love the game, and am masochistic in playing at least for my dalies and maybe some wvw jumping puzzles (well not anymore) with maybe 10fps, but I honestly am holding out for Anet to figure this out, fix it, and let those of us with the issue enjoy the game.
The game ran gorgeously before the Lost Shores update, and hasn’t looked as good since, not even a shadow of the way it used to perform.
I am getting lag, Windows 8, I have an H100 liquid cooler for my i7 3770 and it is working fine (cooler that is) and I still have the same issue, starts off perfect for about 3 minutes, then slide-show city. I was logging in to just do my dailies and maybe the wvw jump puzzles but now I can’t even do that.
(edited by Aoshi.4785)
Sorry to break you, I am on Windows 8 Pro 64bit. I have no lag issues except the Major Event Karka…
I’m on Cable 8Mbps / 1Mbps + QoS Enabled Router.
OK, your point? I have Win8 Pro 64bit, a 38down/5up connection,a great rig (i7 3770, GTW 660ti, 16g ram, Z77 mobo, 850psu, etc) and I have had nothing but major lag since the update, and I am not the only one. Not sure what you broke, but gratz with the game, enjoy.
