Dunno about you, but for the rest of the world the volume bull is spilled with does not increase its credibility.

Also, “He typically doesn’t get his information from facts at all.” is a pretty funny phrase for someone who bases all his arguments on generalization, while getting debunked by facts all the time.

I know, it must be a pretty heavy blast for your ego to hit this wall again and again and again, but if you had not started this whole CDI crying you would not constantly get exposed as the – welp – incapable player that you are.

And please go on and call me out for an ad hominem fallacy, while completely ignoring all the posts I’ve debunked you with reason and calmness. I’m just on the end of my patience with you.

err…
gw2 is out since “almost” 2 years…

I mean, congratulation that you avoided a social life for 15 years now, but even that timespan does not qualify your argument in the slightest for an authoritarian fallacy, since gw2 (and also gw 1) did not follow the traditional pve design. I thought that a playtime that long would be enough to notice that, but it seems that even “that” can’t help those who’ve thrown away the rest of their life as well.

Or to say it in short and simple words: thank you for the laugh. I’ve hardly ever read so much implicated bull in a single post.

to be specific, I run 2 builds, one focused on clerics stats with rifle and the other around settler with p/s. both are 0/2/6/6/0
turrets are: rocket, rifle, thumper, supplycrate, healing turret (occasionally flame or net as well. depends what runes and sigils I equip)

I don’t use exploding turrets since I rather place my turrets off point and only use the thumper / rifle / shield for cc. I rarely blow them up, and even pic up my HT instead of wasting it for a single push.

Juggernaut + Runes of Strength

in Engineer

Posted by: Arantheal.7396

Arantheal.7396

I tried runes of strength + juggernaut + sigil of strength with berserks stats directly after the runes got buffed.

you sit on 23-25 stacks and your flamejet channels up to 4.5k per burn…
that’s 4 times less than the bombkit auto WITHOUT MIGHT in the same time (2.5sec), and can’t even be compensated by FT#2 spaming since you must stay in the kit at all times, else your might-stacking goes down the river.

You should rather run this equip with HgH (25 stacks of might easily and sufficient) and bombkit, because then you crit with 6.3k with a single bomb, while also buffing your group slightly.

err, actually the case “kit-refinement” supports his argument.
It was too over-powered in pvp and wvw since you were spaming the skills like a mad man, so the mechanic got changed – for all game-modes.

sPvP is not a seperate mode of the game, it just represents a mathematically even, competitive PvP mode, that correctly gives access to the classes’ complete mechanics, even if you just have rolled for a new character. Its popular since most go there for the challenge to be the best, while others take it as the perfect training ground for wvw roaming, and overall build-testing, including dungeon- or zerg-builds.

If a mechanic is too overpowered, it gets nerfed. Same happened to Hammer-Warris and perma-stealth thieves in wvw, along with many other overpowered builds across all classes. And while hambows are still pretty powerful, they seriously have a hard time now to survive or act that effective anymore. Still they get buffs on other fronts to accommodate for their now existing incapabilities. Giving one class an unfair advantage over the the other is where the devs step in to correct their mistake (that it was from the beginning – nobodys’ perfect) by nerfing the trait/skill. And in this case, kit refinement gave us an unfair advantage.

So, why would we now suddenly get mobile and aoe-immune turrets while most people already cry OP, even tho thats just a result of unawareness of the obvious weaknesses of these builds. I guess time will change that since the whining already gets quieter.

Back to the kit-refinement: You still can achieve the same effectiveness (if not even better) by going down other routes, tough you have to sacrifice more to achieve this spamieness now, but sitting there and stating “everything is in beta-state because my exploit does not work anymore” is nothing but immature and -if you ask me- pretty hilarious.

just a updated info, krixis:
the mayority of all players spends their time in wvw, followed by pvp and pve on roughly the same amount of game-time spent (source: ready up / dunno which episode).

So, since you only play pve you hardly represent 1/3 of the playerbase of gw2, given that they would actually share your opinion. Most actually do not, even if you just take engineer-pve’ers into account. so thats less than one third -optimistically- of 1/8 of the overall playerbase that could “possibly” demand this change.

Also, since a-net only balances the mathematical stats of a skill -not its actual mechanic- in pvp, having mobile turrets for pve would mean mobile turrets for the rest of the game as well. Shouting to stop speaking about pvp in that topic is simply useless since such a dramatic change in their mechanic necessarily would impact other, more popular areas of the game as well.

If you still insist on ignoring these game modes in this topics, then please understand that we’ll ignore you.

@tigirius:
We had this discussion already. Gw2 =/= other mmo’s so finally stop comparing them. If you like engineers in other mmo’s (lets say wildstar since the vid is topic-relevant) more, then please play them there.
Apart from ignoring the fact that diversity is the preferable state, why would you constantly complain about something that you can’t change anyways, that no one but you and people like “that” would profit from?
And before you ask, by “that” I’m referring to people who rather complain and whine instead of investing their time to train with their class and improving their skills.

The engineer is – and will always stay – the jack of all trades. While we can fulfill every job to good – or even awesome – degrees, this class is not meant for receiving speed-run records in arah. We are not wildstar engis, we are not Torchlight engis (tough I liked to play torchlight 2 engis myself), we are gw2 engis. If you don’t like our incarnation here, the logout button is on the top right of this page.

Complain about bugs, but please not about mechanics that exactly work like intended. Rather learn to work with them.

keep in mind that we only have one weaponset, and if I wanna bomb a wall, or the area in front of it, I’ll go with nades, so that#s one utility slot blocked. I guess your method is a nice troll, but rather useless, especially if they simply pop stability and clear them.
also we already have throw mine, which is an impossible to block projectile that we can activate whenever. Perfect for having a ram unmanned… same goes for BoB from directly behind the gate.

ele: support, roamer
engi: support, bunker, roamer, decap

engi may not be the better roamer, but he can perform multiple jobs. If necessary even on the same time. Take the engi and you have saved one slot in your team-comp that you can fill with whatever.

Why do I not like to play my warri?
because its a skill-less class that you can master within 2 weeks.
same with guardian, necro or ranger. Classes that require high apm and at least a single gray cell are thief, mesmer, engi and ele. And yes, ofc you will find scrubs within eles and really outstanding players within warriors, but these are the exception of the rule.

So as you can see we have 4 casual classes (that can be loads of fun) and 4 specialist classes that have to work for their effort. I don’t see why anyone would buff the classes that can achieve better than the casual ones, especially since they are a whole lot of fun and have a long way that you have to go to master them.

I can see why PvE scrubs want to play a steampunkish engineer so they have something “edgy” to droll over about, but just because you’re incapable of achieving the same mindless and easy gameplay with these classes in PvE does not mean that you have the right to call for OP (in relativity to the class’ already existing capabilities) buffs that ruin the fun for those who like to work for their success.

I mean – seriously – PvE only exists for RPG’ers and gold farming. Why would you ever want to “master” repetitive content that gives you nothing but the same dull loot-chests you can get from pvp as well. Sometimes I feel like speedrunning arah, but I’ve never done any HotW path more than once since this dungeon is completely boring(my personal opinion). Still I unlocked all Koda skins just from stomping players all day long. Why would I ever care about a pvp/wvw class being adjusted to AI-bashing?
Thats what zerker warris are for (my personal opinion again).

You can choose the content and the class for your liking, no one is gonna say “Eww engi” in pve, but trying to mix the class up to something that fits your individual, content-specific incapabilities is nothing but kittened.

Look on the terrain.
the ring was placed downhills towards the side he was jumping out.
I’ve noticed previously already that it is possible to jump out of it if its placed on a ledge or stairs since the actual “wall” from this ring only seems to be high enough to prevent jumping out on plain surfaces.
Dunno if it was luck or skill in this case, but its a reproducible bug/mechanic. Try it out with a friendly guardian in spvp. In extreme cases (like 45° stairs) it also works with the line of warding, but in general it’s higher than the ring of warding so it’s less likely to achieve that in the field.

Should Turret Engineers be Tweaked? (sPvP)

in Engineer

jupp, tough its squishy and has a slow attack pattern.
An aware observer could dodge the intervals, even tho the projectile itself is too fast to be dodged on reflex. The only indicator is that the turret will turn to his target before he fires.

to be even more annoying, pick deployable turrets and park your rifle/rocket-turret in walls or on high spots. Most people prefer to scroll out and look from above onto the battlefield so they often are completely oblivious about the turrets being above their camera angle and even if they spot them, so far only eles seem to be able to clear them effectively. even rangers are easy prey for them.

And here we have a perfect example for a guy that definitively does not get the hang of the class (or the game) and rather calls for buffs to accommodate his lack of skill than a lecture about how2engi.

what is a troll: a guy who spreads false informations (check) as often as possible (check) to annoy as many people as possible (check). But instead of causing people to jump each others throat you just make clear how incapable of learning you are. Sad.

But lets debunk your points individually:

1. the claim that I follow you around: look who posted here first of us both (and what) and who just came here to slur about the class itself, and that even outside of the content he’s familiar with.

2. the claim that our boon-system is imbalanced: HgH might stacking, perma might from just equipping a kit (even tho the kit itself is trash, but w/e. Some actually make good use of it (see wolfeneer)), perma swiftness from kit swapping, might from using a healing skill, protection proc from being cc’d, protection proc from being crited, aegis proc from being hit and even high boon uptimes from turrets, a.s.o.

3. the claim that you know better than me what killed me: lol. just lol. Actually I never got confused by “too many aoe’s” and “couldn’t find my target” (and that comes from someone who regularly dives into the melee train of zergs) and the onehit killers from the PvE bosses are mostly charged attacks that have a clearly visible animation, therefore you just have to dodge in the right moment. I really don’t see your problem here… it has not even something to do with being new and not being able to foresee the unknown since map-completion and story missions don’t even bring these challenges for leveling up.

4. The claim that gw2 == other mmo’s: do other mmo’s have a mechanic that allows you to be invincible at will, almost always if you want to? As far as I know, only very few have them, and this little option, that completely nullifies boss-attacks is why movement-bobs get punished that hard for not dodging / blocking in the right moment. If some bosses had no one-hit killers / deathzones, the dodging system would not make sense at all. The game challenges you to improve your tactics, especially in PvE. And since they can one-hit kill, the aggro system is not in place, so they distribute their attacks to everybody in the group, forcing them to follow the intended gameplay of fast reflexes and high apm. Having one tank getting all the heat while an ele and other casters simply stand around and cast like turrets is especially the reason why people abandoned other mmo’s and rather started gw2. The math for dmg and healing may be the same, but the mitigation and avoidance is the true difference in this system.

Try out the build I’ve posted, together with the instructions if you ever intent to see the game mechanics in a way they are meant for: player versus player. be it open and strategic in wvw or narrow and fast in spvp. Also ask other experienced engis on how to improve.

Regardless how “much” you post, it will not make your point right. deal with it.
I rest my case here.

there you go.
I have the predator, so I switch often between knights and berserker stats, depending on what I need the most. Almost always I run with the bombkit and mines, but it happens that I switch one of them for toolkit and/or the other for elixir S, depending on me needing more cc or defense. For trolling I run elixir R (self-rezz) and if the place is crowded with necros I sometimes even run with elixir C.

Also the traits can vary…
Bunker down is my default, but from time to time I trade it for healing bombs or automated bomb dispenser. Since I almost always run with mines or BK I have no reason to switch the explosion-tree. The transmute trait (toughness > power) is my default, but also a placeholder for the case that I need protection or stun-dmg reduction.

About the rifle:
It does decent dps. Don’t hesitate to use its auto rather than the BK auto. The dmg might be lower, but you can mitigate it more stable and therefore keep your dps up.
In case of thieves: stand still, drop your mine AND minefield and wait for him to pop up. they like to insta cc you, but you can manually explode all your mines even while being stunned. If he gets knocked back by detonate, then you have the time to leave the cc, turn and further control him with elixir B belt + rifle 4 + netshot + rifle 5 + rifle 3. that usually downs them. then you simply drop BoB on his corpse and dps him with the rifle while he tries to teleport around…

So yea, l2adapt to the situation and you should do fine.

1. don’t use the FT. it was designed as a perma stability/low dmg option to continiously pressure enemies. Since juggernaut got ridiculed this kit is broken. exceptions are pvp-decap for its 3 and 5
2. “immune” can only happen if you try to burn a destroyer mob or when you try to cc an enemy while they run with stability. pop your minefield and try again and/or pay attention to their frekkin buff-display. in case of warri or guardian: they can have a passive that triggers stability on the first cc they get. try a minor one (like throw shield) and look what happens.
3. more attack power is always wanted. You can have the same runes / sigils / equip like every other class, while also having many trait options to transmute your stats. running “toughness > power” is an option in wvw. It can be a wasted trait slot or your savior. depends on what you face.
4. trying to overcome a condimancer with condis is futile… for EVERY class. Guess why I play power/cc engi in wvw. And in pvp the balancing is just fine. Try purity sigils there.
5. thiefs have no stability. Engis have a metric kittenton of cc options (even worse than hammer warris if timed right). You do the math.
6. Every lost fight should be a learning experience for you, not a reason to cry for more buffs here.

“engis are too OP” comments did hurt the class in the past (think juggernaut / minekit / poison nades / a.s.o.) and “engi needs buffs” will result in the demanded WHILE EVERY OTHER CLASS GETS BUFFS AS WELL.
Meanwhile skillful engis shred meta-builds to pieces in pvp and wvw and the other classes’ scrubs cry for further nerfs. And now engi scrubs, that don’t get the hang of the class (and rather should call for lecture on how2engi), call for buffs instead so they can play a “cool steampunk themed avatar” without investing a single gray cell.

So yea, what will really hurt the engis performance is the ongoing distress call for an unnecessary class cdi.

Tigirius, last time you said you only do pve…
Did you read the thread title?
Do you know that this lack of balancing you propagate all over this forum is basically non-existent, especially when it comes to pvp and wvw?
Did you know that its only the steep learning curve for the engi that creates the illusion of being subpar?
Not a single time since I play engi, I got killed by something else but my own stupidity. There was not a single situation or enemy I could not take after finding out what to do / how to outsmart them. The engineer is a difficult and skillcap-less class that one can always improve himself in. If you don’t like the trail and error / high apm side if this class then please stop complaining already and roll for something else.

Things that actually need fixes:
The bugs (like for all classes’ traits and skills)
The hobosacks
Thats it. Most engis are perfectly fine with the balancing of their class, what we call out for is more variety in accessible weapons and new skills / traits, since that is what the engi is about: chaos.
The more toys we have to our disposal the deadlier we get, which does not – under no
circumstances – mean that we need a re-balance for our existing traits or skills.

Gw2 =/= other mmo’s, stop comparing them. Open the previous patchnotes, look into the class-specific changes and tell me again that this class’ dev-team is not doing anything. Every single class receives the same attention and if you really want to find out the class that is changed the least, then you end up with guardian. Why? because it was mostly fine from launch and only required minor changes and balance updates from time to time.

What brings my engi for zerging?

dmg:
~4.5k bombkit Auto (no cd, 5 targets, applies vuln.)
~4.5k dodge-proc bomb (no cd, 5 targets, applies vuln.)
~7k BoB (30sec cd, 5 targets, knockback, applies vuln.)
~2.3k Minefield (20sec cd, max 25 targets, rip boons for each mine hit, applies vuln.)
~5.2k Blunderbus (8sec cd, 5 targets, applies vuln. on crit, applies 5 stacks of bleed)
~9k Jump Shot (16sec cd, 5 targets, applies vuln. on crit)
~2.8k Bunker down (2sec cd, 5 targets, applies vuln.)

cc:
Overcharged shot (knockback / 12sec cd / single target)
detonate (push / 18sec cd / 5 targets)
BoB (launch / 30sec cd / 5 targets)
Netshot (2s immobilize / 8sec cd / single target)
Gluebomb (1s immobilize, 1sec cripple / 25sec cd / 5 targets per pulse – 4 pulses)
Smokebomb (3s blind / 25sec cd / 5 targets per pulse – 3 pulses)

Group Utility:
- all bombs / mines heal for ~200
- Firefield on 10sec cd
- Smokefield on 25sec cd
- Waterfield on 15sec cd
- Waterfield on 25sec cd
- 3 Blast finishers
- cleanse 2 conditions on up to 5 targets & 3k aoe heal every 15sec
- 4 sec stability + 1 random boon (might(30sec), retaliation(10sec), fury(10sec), swiftness(10sec)) for 5 allies every 30 sec

Survivability:
- ~21k health (w/o the standard wvw boons, else ~24k)
- ~2.2k toughness
- ~ 6.5k heal every 15sec
- healing skill gets reseted once I reach 25% life / 90sec cd

I know, if you pick a specific category out of this you will find a class / build that does better in this specific category. Then again, to outperform me in each category, you have to dedicate 4 more people to the jobs that i can fulfill already to satisfying degrees, while not even switching a single trait or utility for doing so…
… and I switch my utilities a lot >:)

Phineas, I actually had a loot race with my guild, back when the first LA event was going on. I got 376 bags in one run, slightly behind me a ele, 2 other engis and then some guardians…
Alcohol a.s.o.^^
Anyways, yea spaming #1 can be a problem to some people, but most engis I know, including myself, do not mind spaming them since our whole class requires high apm and is a bit spamy anyways…

About the dungeons, I’m a bit baffled… Tbh I never spend much attention to them since all of them, including arah, are way to short to be taken seriously, so I guess I’ve missed out on why a warri is that much liked… always thought it was just about them spaming gs #2 and #3^^
I do play warri myself, but mostly in wvw, even tho I tried out the current meta with him… got a bit disappointed by the numbers.

and about the bubbles in fractals:
My usual fractal group already bunkers down near me so we can reflect every single projectile towards us. So far it works great and even allows to ridicule the flame shaman.^^ Yes, bubbles don’t have a 100% uptime from one engi alone but we usually run engi / engi / thief / ele / guardian, so for us (with 6 turrets in total and nades) it’s 100% uptime if we want to…

A quite awesome offhand for zerging.

But yea, new toys would be nice…

Maybe an offhand dagger that we use as screwdriver (burst-repair turrets / cripple and bleed foes coming close)
or a offhand focus, we use to manipulate electro static fields (aoe lightning storm / shared magnet aura)
how about a offhand mace? (apply vulnerability and elevate enemies / throw the “hammer” as bouncing projectile which stuns up to 3 targets OR applies mid duration protection to hit allies)

just a few suggestions for our offhand.
Ofc we could need a new mainhand or twohanded weapon as well…

Wait, in the beginning of your latest post you want to have the engineer to be “balanced” to other classes, then you go on a rant about their actual differences, which are partly wrong (kits are not ascended per default, they now just scale properly with the weapons tier UP TO ascended / necro staff marks actually being smaller than bombkits aoe’s), and after that you close with pointing fingers on pvp players since they – in your opinion – are responsible for exactly the balancing you demanded like 15 lines ago.

wat?

Lets speak solely about pve shall we?

Map events, living story:
you want to tag as much as possible, so – as an engi – you take nades since each grenade hits 5 targets so you have a chance to hit up to 15 at the same time. Ofc they also deal a kittenload of dmg on an comfortable range, so the engi has unmatched tag/loot options.

dungeons:
what matters there is simple: dps
with high end runes / sigils + ascended berserker stats the bombkit auto puts out ~5.4k per hit. Compared to the warri on similar equip while channeling his 100 blades we actually put out slightly higher dps than the commonly agreed warri meta build, all that just by spamming #1… count in s/d and bunker down and you excel EVERY other class in terms of dps.

fractals:
fortified turrets is basically perma reflect, if you time your turrets well that is, while still dealing mayor loads of dmg with your nades on lvl 49 fractals. Given that you have the option to be the group healer, condi cleaner, stealth buffer or might stacker in your group, the engi has more than enough utility, dps and survivability ON THE SAME TIME to be a always welcomed guest for fractal runners.

map exploration:
speedy kits for swiftness (or power boots), bombkit and/or FT are everything you need to complete a map in no time, regardless how much you pull. Heck, you even can solo champs. And since we bring a nice load of cheating options to jumping puzzles, I can seriously see no reason why someone would ever complain about leveling an engi.

And again tigirius, you argue for the sake of arguing with no valid point whatsoever.
Yes, you’ve posted in many threads, demanding a CDI, but it does not matter how often you express your opinion, all that matters is what stands behind it. and in your case its nothing I could take serious at the moment.
Like everybody else, I’d be glad to show you some more stuff about the engi class, and help you to get over your frustration with it, but that only works if you drop your prejudices and become willingly to learn.
And in case you refuse to do so, please just do all of us a favor and stop posting.
Thank you.

Just one last thing: yes, the engi still has a rather long buglist, but the skills and traits we have currently (given that they work like intended) should not be nerfed or buffed in the future anymore (welp, maybe the FT auto, since juggernaut kinda forces you to stay in the kit, so why not make it worthwhile like the bombkit or nades).
New toys would be awesome, sure, still I see the engi in a pretty comfortable spot among all other classes right now and would like him to remain at that status.

Engineer vs condition ranger?

in Engineer

Posted by: Arantheal.7396

Arantheal.7396

kite the ranger as long as he has stability (use obfuscations) and then cc-lock and burst him to death.

One thing I currently preffer are turrets.
if traited their range is 1500 and they deal allot of dmg.
kite the ranger around within their range and he basically kills himself.
bonus points if you take fortified turrets and perma reflect his kitten until he’s ready to get bursted by keeping the turrets up.

also about the condis:
HT clears 2 every 15/20sec, EG clears one on #5 every 16/20 sec, elixir E transmutes 4 instantly, 20 points into the alchemy trait and you automatically transmute 1 more incoming condition every 15sec, can proc elixir B and have it traited for cleaning 1 more condition, as well as you other elixirs would do.
combine that with sigil of purity / generosity and runes of water and the condi ranger will get you hardly below 75% hp.

Ofc you can’t do all above mentioned on the same time, but play around with these options and you’ll find a good mix

The post you ignored completely since YOU can’t argue with reasonable points against it. You are a troll and/or incapable to play a class that is not “obviously” OP but needs some effort from the player to achieve that. By now everybody should see that.

Your claims are not reasonable since they simply try to describe the Engi in a way he’s the complete opposite of. Being new is not a problem, actually I like to help new players and show them what is actually fun about the engi and send them on their way to discover new stuff on their own. But arguing for no reason but to argue is something we seriously do not need on this forum.

Engineer trait/skill questions

in Engineer

Posted by: Arantheal.7396

Arantheal.7396

1. the last hit that would have brought you into downstate is nulled and A.E.D. get triggered / on cd. a second hit into downstate(even when it would still be within the 5sec timeframe) will not be nulled, so A.E.D. only triggers once in the displayed 5 sec.

2. Its in the inventions tree, and nope it will not go off until your healing skill is actually on cd.

3. to all who go down in the field, including you (actually nice, bot often not used self-rezz)

4. they all go off. Auto elixier S + heal reset + mines is a quite powerful life-saver. and the regeneration does not hurt as well.

5. Yes. Same goes for your elite, elixir X

6. a) only transmutes the incoming condition
b) does not affect other stacks of the same condition that are already applied.

Have fun.

Tigirious, you’re either_
A) a troll
B) limited to one build that you like but no one else plays since it actually has the incapabilities you mentioned.
c) never played engineer or other classes to their full extend and are too biased by other mmo’s.

Your high acc.ID (new player) highly supports thesis C.

And no, I’m not dodging the point of your post since there is none AND I’ve it adressed previously already. Stop posting / trolling and play more often the class you claim to know cats about.

1. it takes a berserke stats meteor shower to – almost – kill my turrets. Often enough they simply heal up again while I burst down the ele in question – debunked
2. highest uptime for protection in the game, HGH might stacking, almost 50% uptime for fury, perma regen, bombs heal us, our healing skill can be reseted every 90sec and backpack regenerate + SE is one of the highest hps available throughout all classes.
3. bomb auto on berserker stats with expensive runes / sigils deals more dmg than warris 100 blades in similar equip, and that is even without additional dmg procs like s/d and bunker down…
4. interval condi removal is 1 every 10sec for other classes… we remove 2 every 15 sec with HT…
5. most of our aoe’s are weapon skills on a pretty low cd. and since many of them are combo fields and we have a kittenton of blast finishers, this is actually well balanced. at least I never had problems with delivering my dps to the target, even without forceful explosives.
6. 1200 with the rifle if traited, 1500 with rocket turret and rifle turret if traited, 1300 with nades if traited… wat!? and if that is not enough, rifle #5 or rocketboots. Heck, we even have perma swiftness with kit swapping AND/OR power boots which gives you perma 25% movement speed…

Sorry, but your complaints make no sense whatsoever and I do not really say that often to someone.

Flamethrower Napalm skill...

in Engineer

Posted by: Arantheal.7396

Arantheal.7396

it’s a 10sec lasting firefield.
That alone works nicely to stack might or burning (projectile finishers).

But yea, in reality napalm is a sticky paste that will cover and stay on every surface it lands on, so since the skill is already named after it it should at least apply cripple.
That fix alone does not make it a viable skill to choose the flamethrower for, but in case it would be reworked as impassable wall (guardian-line) it would be awesome. We already have slick shoes, but the insane cd and useless BA makes this gadget a waste of a utility slot. Take it out of the game, give us a new gadget instead and rework napalm to have this effect.

the cone is wide enough and always focused on your player character (hold mouse 2 and focus your target with your camera. No more misses, just blocks and evades), it simply does not deal enough damage to put pressure on your target, whatsoever.

SE cleans condis (appart from projectile finishers from the lightfield)? oO
did I miss something?

jftr, the condi cleaning trait for elixirs does not proc with EG skills, even tho they are indicated as elixirs. it’s a bug on either the tooltipp side or the traits’ mechanics.

It is already broken.

!!tier 2!! explosives trait that applies 4sec burn to a !!single target!! with a !!10sec cd!!

my fix idea would look like this
applies 1 sec burn to every target you hit with whatever physical attack. Can not be applied for the next 3 sec on a target that got hit already. BOOM trait fixed, suddenly viable as a tier 2 trait and is no OP the slightest.

Mobile Turrets

in Engineer

Posted by: Arantheal.7396

Arantheal.7396

Turrets are aerial control. period.
You don’t call them minions, nor bots, nor drones. You call them turret. And a turret is – per definition – an locally installed defense platform.

What does this mean for gw2?
Simple. If you decide to play turret then you decide to play defensive. For pvp that means to drop ranged turrets off point so melee enemies are forced to walk out and destroy them there, while you cap / hold the point. Same goes for wvw camp / ruin defense.

You can not effectively chase a target with something that is meant as local installment. On the other hand you can pull them with toolkit towards you and immobilize them with the rifles netshot. There you go, your target is free for turret bursting now.

If you don’t like being stuck to defend an area, run another build.
I personally don’t want to have mobile turrets since I prefer to drop them afar into inconvenient and hard to reach spots, while cc’ing the cat out of my targets. I really do like turrets, especially after the bugfixes, and as someone who were roaming with them for almost a year now, I can tell you that they don’t need to be mobile to wreck people on mayor proportions.

turreteer(with e-gun) + runes of water + clerics stats
kitten di kitten , no one goes into downstate during my watch.

inb4 power stats with egun: super elixir is quite awesome with these stats, acid bomb scales well with power, and fumigate cleans condis. dps comes from rocket/rifle turret and rifle itself.

I can’t complain about my group support.

How to Add a New Weapon Simply

in Engineer

They intended our juggernaut trait to be a slow, unstoppable flaming maniac.
look where that went.

As we lost it “for balancing reasons” we should get better condi removal “for balancing reasons”. And the suggestion above is just catching up with the auto 10sec clear of other classes

Seems like I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum.
Yes, I don’t need more dps, but when it comes to versatility and new stuff I think we can’t get enough toys. I want new kits, new elites, new gadgets and a way to run elixier builds effectively even without HGH. Maybe even a new weapon-set. New traits are fine, but I not only want to upgrade my old stuff, I want to incorporate new toys to my builds.

What makes turrets that strong currently is the actual bugfixes so they work like intended. The buffs they give are nice but not really a OP game changer since we already had ways to keep them up (altought not that easy), and even their bubble triggers to late and only lasts shortly compared to their high cd, so the actual balance changes were minor.

So, some bugfixing would be awesome for underwater nades targeting and FT mechanics. The only thing I can possibly think of as direct buff would be to give us back the old juggernaut trait and a pull instead of a push on FT #3. Then we would not need higher base dmg on that kit since it becomes viable as a tool, not as a weapon.

Apart from that: I WANT NEW TOYS!!!

Elite skill idea: Dual-kits!

in Engineer

Posted by: Arantheal.7396

Arantheal.7396

Double Bombkit with that exoskeleton… 10k auto-attack and 16k instantly with BoB.
People say that my ideas are ridiculously OP, but this is the crux of being overpowered^^

But I like the exoskeleton idea in general, so lets act it as actual weaponkit that replaces all our weapon-skills for 60 sec and disables our utilities.
the elite should have a 240sec cd, to be comparable with the asura golem.

skills would be:

auto-attack: Powerfist
high physical dmg chain on a single target
chain hit 1: left fist strike (single target, medium physical dmg, 0.25sec cd)
chain hit 2: right fist uppercut (single target, high physical dmg, 0.5 sec cd)
chain hit 3: doublefist smash on the ground (3 targets, 240 range, high physical dmg, interrupts, 0.75 sec cd)

#2: Flamewhirl
short spin animation with 2 flamethrowers
8 sec cd (0.5 sec channeled attack)
2 hits on 360 range
medium physical dmg
applies 3sec burn per hit
whirl finisher

#3: Rocketjump
player uses his inbuild rockets to propel him to the target
15 sec cd
900 range, placeable aoe
deals high physical dmg to 5 targets
rockets apply burn for 3 sec to 5 targets at the starting point of the jump and their exhaust applies 5 sec blind to 5 targets on the impact point.
blast finisher

#4: Super-Elixier dispenser
Releases a big load of a healing potion
20sec cd
480 aoe range
mayor instant heal to the player / small heal over time to allies inside the field
applies 6 sec of regeneration to 5 allies within the range
waterfield for 3 sec
cleans 1 condition per second for 3 seconds from up to 5 allies inside the field

#5: deployable perimeter shield
30sec cd
240 range
player-centered movable / reflecting shield bubble for 10 sec (same animation as fortified turrets)
deals medium physical dmg to all targets passing the perimeter shield and applies 3 sec of aegis every 3 sec to up to 5 allies inside the bubble.

I guess this elite would be quite awesome for supporting people around you.
bonus points for running experimental / fortified turrets and having them out before you use the elite.
