If you think about it, the nightmare court actually do follow Ventari’s teaching…especially, “hard ground makes for stronger roots”
They indulge on pain to be stronger than the ‘lies’ of the dream….
He’s a depressed necromancer. It fits nicely.
Am I the only one who doesn’t hate Trahearne? He’s more like a burdened sylvari unsure of his destiny, who only found hope to succeed with your help. He can command all he wants – fort trinity knows I’m the real hero. Besides, I’m mainly sylvari. He would never have gotten that sword if it wasn’t for me. :p
The only thing I hate is how ambiguous the missions can be…“Wait, I didn’t agree to that! Bad Idea! Why did no one tell me this?!”
To be fair, illusions and clones don’t last very long with their health, and they don’t do the same damage as a pet. I think the only decent use they can get up there comes from the shatter skills. Besides, mesmers have horrible aoe. Clones sorta make up for that.
First of all, GW2 does a pretty good job at keeping characters looking decent from what I’ve seen in other games. I’m a female gamer, and I really hate how female characters are so often portrayed in games.
But I would love it even more if they created a ‘modesty’ option. Maybe a customizable undergarment that you can choose how much you want to show? Short sleeve/long sleeve, how deep a neckline is, bare chested men or covered, or long pants under skirts. You can customize it into a fashion sense too.
You can dye it whatever colors you want, and it gives no stat boosts. If you don’t want it, don’t wear it. It can help make armor designs more unique too.
Small teams are enough to quickly flip a supply camp, unless there are campers. And as long as you don’t drain too much supply, you can still get them out of the keep. Just have randoms run over now and then to refresh siege for attacks. If zergs keep coming, the constant use of siege would keep them there anyway.
Mag tried to pull off a decoy by attacking a tower to get us to defend and leave SMC open. We didn’t fall for it. We were pretty outnumbered that time too. they left the tower alone after that – we’d get it back anyway if it was taken. They won’t defend a tower near our turf.
If CD is always outnumbered, why do we still focus on keeps and castles in the first place? In total, more camps/towers count to more points than keeps, and small hit teams are really well oriented for taking them – what CD is good at. Keep camps from upgrading to minimize enemy defense, one keep in EB to maintain defense to towers, and steal towers back and forth, timing it to point counts, and drain the supplies in the towers so invaders don’t have it for use. Right after enough towers and camps are gathered and the minimum siege built, we go straight for keeps. But why, when we don’t have the numbers to defend in a standstill? We got the numbers for a movable army to run around.
I was originally replying to this:
Oh, I’m not blaming anyone. I know there are times you can’t do anything against a zerg if you don’t have the numbers. Like I said, our small teams can cause a nuisance despite the size
But I am disappointed that it’s not as coordinated as well as it can be. Do you know how much siege was placed inside there? Lord’s room was capped, a cata or two at every inner gate, 2-3 arrow carts at the walls, and even burning oil was built. I think someone even donated for cannons. We got it all set up and prepared for NA to defend, at least up to the inner wall. Even two trebs! That’s plenty to hold off a zerg.
We know all the sylvari look at the pale tree as a mother figure. She’s there to give advice and wisdom to any of her children. But doesn’t she seem to play favorites?
The firstborn are dear to her because they were the only kids she had for a long time. And she talks proudly about the heroic deeds of some of the offspring – especially you, the main character. But she seems more distant to other sylvari.
spoiler alert in The Heart of Nightmare, if you choose to dream about the shield of the moon, I recall the dialogue between the Pale Tree, Malomedies and Tiachren – the one grieving for his love.
Avatar of the Tree: Ah, Tiachren. I have seen your memories in the Dream, and I know how much you and Ysvelta loved one another.
Avatar of the Tree: I know you are in pain. Remember that the heart is also a garden. Tough burned, it may still bloom again on day.
Tiachren: Thank you. It gives me peace to know that Ysvelta’s spirit will live on within the Dream.
Avatar of the Tree: Rest now, gentle Tiachren. Valiant… I wish to speak with you.
—
Malomedies: The tale of the Knight of the Moon and his beloved will be told in the Grove, to inspire others. Your victory will be remembered.
Avatar of the Tree: An excellent suggestion. Let the lesson be that love itself is not evil, even if others try to make it so.
This guy was grieving his heart out because he lost his beloved! And all that can be done for his experience is use it as a deterrence from the nightmare? The pale tree just gave what comfort she could say then totally turned her attention to you. Poor Tiachren just kept weeping at the pale tree’s feet.
“I know she meant a lot to you, but one day you’ll find another love. You can take all the time you need to cry. And don’t worry, your horrible experience will be used as a lesson to the other sylvari that love isn’t a bad thing. Now, I got more important things to discuss…oh dear valiant, you were wonderful and brave! I wish to grace you the honor of meeting my firstborn children. You dreamed about the dragon so it’s your destiny to face it – this makes you so very special.
And there’s always the story of the second born guy who never felt like he got enough attention from the Pale Tree either…(the guy that started the nightmare court, whatever his name is again)
Can’t some species of plants pollinate themselves? Maybe that’s the case with the pale tree.
we lack na coverage. so we shouldn’t blame our na counterparts. they’re doing what they can.
I dunno if I can agree with that. I come on with NA too, just less often. The populations seem similar, NA being a bit bigger. Just feels like more people put effort in during oceanic time, than NA.
I will give credit though: for a small population, we can cause plenty trouble. If we could just muster the numbers, no doubt CD would regain this former glory I’ve heard so much about.
I gotta admit, I’m a little disappointed with our CD NA timers…I usually pop in during the oceanic time. In the first few days we grabbed SMC from maguuma in a pretty outnumbered fight…spent a good chunk of time defending and upgrading it. Even doing supply runs for stocking up on the siege.
When I come back, all our effort is wasted with Maguuma owning SMC again. I mean, what happened guys? There was practically siege at every corner. How did you not hold them off?
