Lol. Yeah, sorry about that. I only gave half a consideration for the title. If I recall, there weren’t as many angry threads when I first made it..
I did post a little guide earlier, but it got buried underneath all the angry threads. You can add it in with yours.

-sigh- The only nature I can agree with is that this may have emotionally impacted grieving families who lost loved ones in the recent disasters.
Was this update offensive? No – what’s offensive is acting offended and being insensitive while waving torches and pitchforks, jumping up and down and yelling ‘airplanes are offensive!’ while families are brutally reminded WHY they are grieving.
Was this short-sighted? Well, maybe. But everyone is guilty of being short-sighted, at one point or another.
Can we please…PLEASE…..move on with a mature attitude?
I was enjoying this game, until people started raging and ranting…the toxicity and negativity killed the mood. Now I’m probably a bad person for appreciating this little joke. I’m gonna head off now…I guess it’s too much to ask for people to take a deep breath and see this in another light.

Bumping this for others to see.
I find it funny.
I have an IQ of over 140.
And yet, this event made me snicker.
Although farting in public…ew. How is that funny? It’s a natural biological response of releasing excessive gas formed within the digestive track. That’s embarassing, not funny!
Yep, I’m a nerd.
WWIII? Insensitive plane crashes? For the love of sanity…
People. Wake up.
This is beginning to devolve into paranoid conspiracy. Tragedies happen. People fight. The world can’t get along. It’s the sad truth of humanity. If we let every single disaster peg us down, our species wouldn’t exist. If no one couldn’t get their mind out of the gutter and find a way to fix the disaster.
Are we seriously going to link complete opposite events and and accuse programmers of being cold and insensitive because they didn’t forsee what others saw? Intent is the real key.
Yes, I’m being critical because this is utter [censor].
You know what the event reminded me of? Snoopy from Peanuts. A light-hearted comic about a dog chasing down the Red Baron.
An even greater insult would be to ignore the reality that tragedies happen. Even more insensitive to make taboo of the losses and grief people endured.
I don’t see this as a cruel insensitive joke of recent events. I’m seeing the impacts of historical events that had molded our society to attempt to bring out the reality of humanity. Selfless heroic acts, pain and grief that could have been avoided, and a reminder of what people survived through and struggled for.
We’ve shed our tears and it’s time to move on. For the families that lost love ones, my heart goes out to you. All of us, let’s stop bickering and fighting and just try and enjoy each other’s company, and have a good time. If we let the vices of our history rule our lives, we’ve already lost.
I was only bothered by the airplane sounds – everything else was pretty hilarious. I heard it looks even more silly with a bobblehead..
Ways to disable them:
1. Airplane sounds
- Options > Sound Options > Slide Down dialogue volume
2. Movie grain (sepia overlay)
- Options > Graphic Options > Postprocessing > None (Low remove the sephia but keeps the the grain)
3. Aviator Helmet
- Use a costume brawl tonic/transformation potion and exit the transformation. This will revert your hair back to normal.
4. Other PC (player character) Models
- Options > Graphic Options > Character Model Quality > Lowest
5. Airplane Hand Position
Combat transformation changes your character look, including hands position.
If you find other methods of disabling the features, feel free to post em here.

Accuse of hacking, instead of checking for other reasons that may not be the player’s fault.
Good job!
I was considering turret engie, seeing as to how OP it is now…thoughts?
This should suits you perfectly

Lol!!
Oh yes, that may suit me just fine.

Alright. I just got my Champion Shadow title. And I already have Champion Illusionist. What class should I start on next?
1. Not gonna play necro. The whole ‘undead’ theme is creepy. I’m sorry, but every time I look at those minions, I cringe. >.<
2. I want a class that can compliment what I already have available. I already have two classes that spike damage, lockdowns in teamfights, can move quickly for decapping/recapping, and are very glassy. So…perhaps something leaning closer to a bunker/support.
3. SUPER EASY to learn. And I mean super easy. Like press one button to win – type of easy. Thief and mes took quite some time to peg down (and I don’t care to listen to all you naysayers about teef is OP, nerfnerfnerf, stealth-unfair-backstab-so-ez….no. Just take my word for it, thief and mes may be easy to learn, but difficult to be good with) I wanna take the leisure road now and pick a class that doesn’t take a great deal of practice at the start.
4. One build answer to all situations. Meaning I don’t have to swap traits/weapons/sigils/runes/etc. to respond for every fight. Mesmer and thief had quite a bit of build variations, even if it stayed close to the meta. I’m looking for a class with one meta build to respond to all scenarios.
What would you advise?

Meh, I can remember back in my newbie days I spent a good hour trying to reach a vista…the movement mechanics took awhile to get used to. Now it’s no problem.
Just leave it for now and try again later.
Stealth has already been overnerfed and passed out like candy to too many classes. If ANET wanted to destroy what makes thieves special, they chose an excellent path.
I mean look what they did to ranger’s
They gave them stealth on top of the OP pets that follow the real mesmer.
And they gave them OP LB that literally destroys any chance mesmers get/s
I’m new at mesmer, and when I play shatter, I get rekt by power rangers if they are not totally stupid and if don’t kill them with my opening burst. The reflexion on distortion trait helps a lot though.
But really, the pet following the real mesmer is a good thing. They are already terrible as it is, so let them have at least that.
Luckily for those playing mesmer, most of the power rangers are totally stupid and kill themselves to multiple stacks of confusion and reflection whilst not running any condi cleanse:-)
Best thing to do as a mesmer. Reflect the LB ranger’s knockback and watch them drop off a cliff.
Hehe.
PU mesmer. A very selfish build, and quite annoying to deal with.
P/D condi thief. In my humblest opinion, also very selfish. It’s viable if there’s no other option (4 thieves from soloq, then yeah – gonna need variety) but any other situation, please no.
Fearmancer. That….fear….wall….GAH.
LB rangers get a 50/50 hate-or-don’t-care. There’s too many of them. It’s gotten to the point where if a ranger doesn’t run LB, I have to pause and think about what to counter it with. At least they’re very glassy.
To be fair, before rangers got buffed, almost no one played ranger. Rangers could be strong if played correctly – but no one wanted to learn how to play them correctly.
Rangers needed some love.
Thing is, I actually get better matches in unranked than in ranked. In unranked, I rarely meet noobs and most are leg champs. It’s only in ranked that this issue arises.
Really? How odd, it’s the opposite for me. I have better luck in rank than unrank.
…Do unrank and rank run on separate MMR?
Before I came back to PvP, I have a habit of playing a few unrank matches before going into rank.
Tried that out again today, against my better judgement. Right at the start of the match, we’re behind by a mere 40 points – one teammate shrugs off and says, “Ok we lost.” Then sat near spawn for the duration of the match.
Riiiiight…..back to rank queue and partying up with trustworthy guildies/friends.
I HAD ONE.
Fighting on far point, 3v3. Enemy ranger goes down, then me at super low health, I go down next. Teammate mesmer sees me go down, as I’m getting cleaved by the enemy, while third teammate is desperately trying to stomp ranger, but unable to. Mesmer rushes to me, starts attempting to rez. But he cannot rez in time while he gets cleaved, so he drops a portal to escape. But oh no! The enemies manage to burst him down to down state! Last teammate manages to burst one of the enemies into downstate, and rushes toward mesmer and me to start rezzing….
-voip- He went through the portal.
Welp, we lost far. XD
(edited by Arikyali.5804)
It really depends. If I have to run d/p, I prefer the crit strikes of 26006. It’s going to depend on your personal preference, and the situation of the arena, as well as your/the enemy’s team comps.
Consider these options:
1. How much condition clears will I need?
2. How much blinds can I land?
3. Will I be focused consistently, or will I have time to leap back and out of stealth?
4. Does my team have sufficient sustain/bunkers that I can abuse a full traitline of SA for on-point fights?
5. What is more important, survival or spiking?
6. How glassy is the enemy team? Are there more spikes that need to be taken down fast, or do they have a lot of heavies?
7. do I want stuns on steal? Mug? Or do I want more evasions?
8. Will I be able to decap their far if they decide to guard it?
Those questions will determine which d/p build you’re going to bring.
On a simple matter of mechanics, Memser’s have been as off putting to play against or more so than Thieves. Both thieves and Mesmer’s should not have the burst capacity they have. Not with the gimmicky mechanics the professions possess. It should be a trade off of one of the other, not both. In a PvP setting, I’d much rather have a straight up fighting.
Here’s my motto in PvP….
Anything else is cowardly.
And I like to fight with underhanded tactics, unfair stealth, and listen to the screaming rage while I snicker and run away. That’s why I play mesmer and thief.
To each their own. x.x
I personally don’t mind for courtyard – if it was tweaked. TDM is a nice concept to throw into casual PvP.
It just needs serious tweaking.
1. Make the room bigger. That dinky little pit counters very mobile classes, like mesmer and thief.
2. Give more time at the start of the match to adjust traits and builds.
3. Even if someone scored 0 points, it’s not always their fault. Give a consolation gain on reward tracks regardless of points.
I’ve spoken to a few PvE friends, and they’ll tell me the reason they don’t want to PvP is partly because of the bad toxic rep PvPers have.
This game has a more ‘chill’ atmosphere than the other PvP games I’ve played. I’ve noticed a trend, where players that try to talk smack and act big usually aren’t that good anyway..
Kinda right
That was a problem also in WoW that got solved by Blizzard. They’ve ajusted the life points to be really high anoth so you can make mistakes but still come out of it. Take note that healing & regen also got ajusted so not to be abusive. I recently played & it was fun not to get one shoted or even mobed by players. Gw2 Spvp got frustrating & i also got abusive verbally cuz im getting pugs with in my team. & it’s frustrating me. It’s not as fun as it use to be. Maybe Anet should take notes from competitors.
That mechanic wouldn’t work here. PvP is supposed to be place of equal footing where only skill gets you ahead. No crutches, no boosts, no X amount of gold, no excuses, no nada. The issue of the matchmaking system is people are not getting paired up/against those of similar skill.
Everyone wants to play the OP engineer before it gets hit with a nerfbat.
Reading all of this, I don’t wanna risk Soloq ever again…
I’m just gonna mill around until one of my guildies/pvp friends are up for a few matches.
Block and report. Let Anet mods deal with em.
I couldn’t help but notice this snarky attitude spiked after Anet’s huge 75% off sale…GW2 PvP is nice since it’s less toxic than other PvP I’ve had the…misfortune of witnessing. Get your immature ragefest out of my chill PvP matches, yo.
It’s sad that a lot of people are driven away from PvP because of this…why can’t people just be civil and go ‘GG’?
Anet’s policy on macros is one keystroke for one action. That means you can macro “Ctrl+T” into one macro skill for targeting, but you can’t “115qe623” for skill combo.
As for songs…well…I’ve never heard of anyone getting banned for using macros to play music.
But you can play music without macros. It’s not easy.
It’d be nice if there was a single designated area for duels to take place – like Obsidian sanctum, if it wasn’t empty all the time.
No one has a reason to get upset at ganking a duel. Polite to ignore said duel? Sure. But what if it’s not a duel, and someone needed help?
I was winning a 2v1 at far point. A “teammate” came to far point with like no health left with someone chasing them, went down, got stomped and rallied the two people I downed. I died 3v1.
Ooooh….ouch. XD
As for why you (Blue team) got the ‘win’, in the event of a tie the team with higher personal scores gets the win.
So what happens if it’s a true tie? Equal scores on everything?
I wonder what happened to this…
I personally do not like Kasmeer. Marjory’s too good for her. And Marjory herself…well…she just seemed snooty at first to me. I wanna roll my eyes everytime she goes, “hey doll.”
I like Brahm and Rox much better. Rox struck me as a little too ‘sweet’ to be a charr, but I guess not all Charr are ferocious gnashing catbeasts. and Brahm taking care of Taimi is sweet, like a big brother little sister. He’s just a Norn – Norn’s like to smash stuff.
Taimi of course, is the best of all. I get sad when she’s sent away to not join dangerous missions cuz she’s too young. She’s the best in the group.
Nice!! I’ve never seen a tie that close. XD
And I knoooooow!! I hate it when someone throws in the towel!! Matches can still be turned around! Maybe the enemy team gets overconfident with a good lead, and you can just push on through. Never a reason to call it quits.
I can relate. Matchmaking for soloq is just plain awful. I found that out in the early stages of the leaderboard reset. Had a 50% win/loss ratio before, then it dropped down to something like 23%. Now at least it’s back up to 40%. (still working to get back to what it was before)
The only way around it is to get one or two reliable teammates and queue together. It doesn’t need to be a full party. Just friends you can rely on.
That may be the closest to the panic strike build. You could go with crit strikes 26600 or 06620.
Unlike PvP, in WvW you’ll be fighting with the must unfair and honorless tactics available. And it seems like everyone loves perplexity runes – you have been warned.
I wouldn’t be so quick to only blame rage quitters. Sometimes life happens or PC issues or even game issues happen to DC you
I can understand that. But I think I’ve been in a liiittle too many 4v5 to assume every single one of them was a PC/RL issue. XD
Someone should make one for the current meta. XD
Woo!! Gratz!!
- Message Body length must at least be 15.
Perhaps someone can answer this for me. Don’t people still get penalized in unrank for leaving a match? I’ve come across a little too many 4v5 in unrank. Some just ragequit after getting behind by a mere 50 points. It’s no fun for either side.
And second question: what about players that simply AFK without leaving the match, after gaining a few points? Someone once told me you can report them for ‘botting’ (they’re going afk, not putting effort, yet still reaping the rewards). But I’m unsure if this is correct.
I have a suggestion:
1. Every new account must start out in hotjoin, until rank 2-3 is reached. From there, they unlock unranked.
2. After playing x amount of matches in unrank, they are allowed to play in ranked. They are not required to win unrank, just put effort in and play.
3. If too many ranked matches are lost (let’s be generous, and say 20 losses in a row) then they are temporarily locked out of ranked, and returned to unrank. They must then play….say 5 matches before returning to ranked, wins or loss does not matter.
4. A brand new, fresh character, right-out-of-the-starter-zone cannot play in ranked unless it competes in three unranked matches first. (An exception could be made if you have a similar class already, but that’s maybe too much of a bother to code.)

No, please do not revert the teleports. I simply love them.
And yes, I’m going to be playing cheese thief and cheese mesmer. Hate me.
Why is this not considered a counter of lb ranger/GS mesmer/rifle war/any class with long ranged burst climbing up on a ledge and just sniping everyone below?
On my thief I enjoy fighting: Medi guards and longbow ranger.
Partly because I’ve seen them rush straight at me, anticipating an easy kill, then have no idea what to do when I’ve survived their burst and force them into panic-mode.
Tee hee.
Three or four seconds, I don’t care for either. I just wish it was consistent.
I think what we need are some machetes, especially since it’s the jungle….
(I’m sold on key swords though.)
Machetes! Yes! I would totally love that!
Eh, what are the chances that I get a third precursor anyway..
I love the japanese culture but we already have more than enough shinigamis, sasukes and weeaboos in this game . I think to much of the “anime-esque” stuff waters down the lore of the game. I’d like to see a nice array of sabres/scimitars as one-handed swords (a weapon category that I always found a bit lacking personally) instead, especially with the exotic theme of HoT.
I kinda have to agree. I like all the Eastern culture, but I’d also like to see other cultures. Europeans and Japanese aren’t the only ones who crafted swords. The tribal sword did a neat job of taking elements from pacific island swords, even if they’re not accurate.
Too much westernized Eastern culture just…ruins it. (It still irks me that Usoku’s needle, designed after the Sai, are animated to be held like daggers. They are NOT daggers. You will end up stabbing yourself if you try and use them like that.)
My terminology may be incorrect, but aren’t one-handed curved single-blade swords called kodachi? I believe katanas are for two hands.
(edited by Arikyali.5804)
I see. Interesting.
And my apologies; what I meant by ‘guarding’ isn’t bunkering. It’s just running back and forth to +1 fights on mid and home. If there is a teammate that can add pressure on far and we don’t have a bunker, then that’s what I do. But if we have a bunker then I stick close to mid and +1 the fights on the sides. That’s what I meant by guarding.
